GLIMPSES OF KITH (SPATIAL IMAGINATION)

PHASE 01: KITH NARRATIVE

KITH : SPACES THROUGH STORYTELLING

Architecture isn't just about buildings; it's about the stories they hold. "Kith" dives deep into this idea, focusing on how spaces connect us and tell our tales. It's about feeling at home, even in unfamiliar places, and finding a sense of belonging. In this journey, we'll see how spaces become storytellers. Every building, from historic landmarks to cozy homes, has a story to share. But kith isn't limited to physical spaces. It extends to instangible realms, where communities gather and more stories unfold. Together, let's uncover the stories hidden within the spaces in Central of Kuala Lumpur, uncovering the hidden stories that shape our identity and deepen our sense of belonging and connection.

Begin a journey of discovery within a chosen location or site, by fully immersing in a scenario that acts as the primary narrative for the project. Participate in the speculative process and uncover the narrative within the selected theme, initiating the development of a series of scenarios that fits into context.

In the bustling streets of Kuala Lumpur, where tradition meets innovation, a vibrant tapestry of signage adorns the thoroughfares like pieces in a grand typographic puzzle. As one navigates through the maze of alleys and corridor, a kaleidoscope of fonts, colors, and sizes emerges, each sign a chapter in the city's rich cultural narrative.

BOOK NOOK

The Book Nook aims to provide a positive impact on the community by creating a cozy, inviting space that blends contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship.

It is a collaborative project between Taylor's University and RexKL, combining modular seating, Songket-inspired cross-stitch weaving, and a built-in bookshelf.

This innovative piece adds a colorful, artisanal touch to RexKL's raw aesthetics, promoting reading and exploration in a safe, curved structure suitable for all ages. It exemplifies functionality, comfort, and cultural heritage, providing a welcoming environment for the community to relax, connect, and engage.

PHASE 03:

GLIMPSES OF KITH (SPATIAL IMAGINATION)

In Phase 3, students are required to combine all that have developed throughout Phase 1. Also, Phase 3 is where students re-invent and mold those narratives into spatial ideas. We are tasked with selecting a sequence of spaces that are to be further detailed using spatial depiction, all within your site selection in the vicinity of KL.

The spatial planning is to mirror the theme/storyline that has been imagined and interpreted through the narratives of the chosen topic. The exploration of the STORYTELLING displayed during Phase 1 may be integrated into Phase 3 depending on the narrative developed.

City signboards do more than mark locations; they shape a unique urban landscape and silently communicate the rhythm of daily life.

The true essence of these signs is best understood by the people who live among them. Signboards reveal the living state of urban characters and the collective unconsciousness that creates a new urban landscape.
