Isn’t it frustrating when you are looking for something and can not find it? It happens all the time, right? Imagine you have an appointment to get to, or you are on your way somewhere, and you must be there on time, and you have lost your keys, phone, and wallet. As the owner of these items, naturally, you would want to find them so you can continue with your day, but also ensuring that your possessions are safe and protected with you is crucial. We understand the importance of finding our items to ensure our sensitive or essential bank cards, for instance, do not fall into the wrong hands.
Just as we search and desire our items to be found, God searches and longs for lost souls to be saved. In Luke 15, the father longs for his son to come home even though he did not force him to stay. The father allowed the son to walk his path, although it led him away from home. God is just like the father in this story and of course we, his children are just like the son in the story. When we have or will go of the course of this Christian walk, God longs for us to return home to Him. He will not force us to make a decision we do not want to make. But, when we do return back into His loving and protecting arms, just how the father celebrated his son, God and all of heaven celebrates when a lost soul returns home.
