The curtain raised again

at the Cider Mill Stage in

prelude to the new fall season of shows.

Tonight’s performance entitled “Sunday On The Stage with Jan” featured the talents of Jan and Shannon DeAngelo, Scott Zimmerman and the cast of "Plaid Tidings". The audience was treated to a range of songs from the 1930’s -80’s like “Fly Me To The Moon”, and “Love Is A Many Splendor Thing”.

For decades the Cider Mill Stage/Theatre has been a local favorite to enjoy great shows in a nostalgic setting. The Fall 2021 Season is ready to begin with four great shows in the wings; It's Only A Play, Deathtrap, Plaid Tidings and A Christmas Carol. Here’s a hint to the plot of "It's Only A Play" from the CMS site; “It’s the opening night of The Golden Egg on Broadway, and the wealthy producer Julia Budder is throwing a lavish party in her lavish Manhattan townhouse. Downstairs the celebrities are pouring in, but the real action is upstairs in the bedroom, where a group of insiders have staked themselves out to await the reviews. The group includes the excitable playwright; the possibly unstable wunderkind director; the pillpopping leading lady, treading the boards after becoming infamous in Hollywood; and the playwright’s best friend, for whom the play was written but who passed up this production for a television series. Add to this a drama critic who’s panned the playwright in the past and a new-in-town aspiring singer, and you have a prime recipe for the narcissism, ambition, childishness, and just plain irrationality that infuses the theatre—and for comedy. But don’t worry: This play is sure to be the hit they have all been hoping for.” It's Only A Play runs this Sept 17-26 so make sure to get your tickets. See you there!
