GMMs

Allyson Boles Executive Vice President 2021-2022

Like many other things this League year, planning and executing our six general membership meetings has caused us to adapt and think creatively. With many unknowns due to COVID-19, we planned to have all of our meetings with the options for members to attend in person or virtually.

Our September GMM at The Colonnade at Revolution Mills kicked off the year with an interactive Culture Wheel Card Game, led by Jada Monica Drew, CEO of Social Designs. We also heard from Dr. Kelly Graves, Executive Director and Co-Founder of the Kellin Foundation, one of our community partners this year.

In October, Greensboro Day School hosted our GMM and we learned about GDS from Tracie Catlett, Head of School, and our own member Gillian Goodman, Lower School Director. Another one of our community partners, Mary Ellen Poe, the NC Development Coordinator for Church World Service, shared about the impact our League’s welcome team made with apartment setup for families.

November brought another change of scenery as we held our GMM at O2 Fitness at Friendly Center. The team at O2 Fitness taught several fitness classes for our members in attendance and then we discussed the League’s governance structure and leadership positions within the League in hopes that members would have a better understanding of the League should they be interested in future leadership opportunities.

The January GMM was held completely virtual, but it was still a fun meeting that included the Signature Fundraiser Committee sharing about the Designer Showhouse taking place in the 2022-2023 League year.

March was definitely one of my favorite GMMs this year! Two new actives, Chantel Simpson and Shannon Wiley, coordinated hosting the meeting at the NC A&T Farm Pavillion and they also planned a butter making activity for members during the social time. We had great in person attendance and the energy in the room was contagious!

On May 9th we celebrated the year together at The Colonnade at Revolution Mill. This meeting was sponsored by American National Bank and Polliwogs Children’s Boutique. It was exciting to recap the League year and celebrate together!

THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!
