President’s Service Award

Each year, the Junior League of Greensboro grants the President’s Service Award. This award honors a servant leader who puts the needs of others before her own, who always works for the best interest of the Junior League of Greensboro, and who does so without expectation of recognition. The recipient of this award for 2020-2021 was Brittany Midyette.

While Brittany has been a dedicated League member and leader for many years, serving in roles such as Treasurer and Nominating Committee member, her commitment to the 2021 Women’s Leadership Summit was exceptional. When the task of hosting the Women’s Leadership Summit in a pandemic presented itself, she rose to the challenge and capably led her committee through the process of planning a series of virtual events, fundraising and obtaining sponsors, offering networking opportunities, and making sure attendees of each of the events left feeling just as empowered as they would have attending in-person. Her creativity and her hands-on leadership were crucial to the ultimate success of the series.

Outside of the League, Brittany is a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Wells Fargo. She is both a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and was named one of Triad Business Journal’s 40 under 40 in 2020. In addition to being a dedicated League volunteer and powerful career woman, Brittany loves spending time with her family. She and her husband, Kyle, have two daughters, Clara and Elise.

Brittany’s leadership, positivity and flexibility are unmatched and the JLG is stronger because of her service. We are so grateful to Brittany for her tireless devotion to the League, to Greensboro, and to her family.

LEAGUE

Kathleen Price Bryan Award

The Kathleen Price Bryan Award is given annually to an active League member who has demonstrated outstanding volunteerism, leadership and service to her community, both within and outside of the Junior League. The 2020-21 recipient was Alejandra Marquez.

Originally from Venezuela, Alejandra has been a member of the Junior League of Greensboro since 2012, when she moved to the United States so that her husband could pursue his MBA. Since then, she has served in a wide variety of roles, from Monday Minute Editor and chair of one of our community programs to sitting on the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee.

Outside of the League, Alejandra’s servant leadership continues to shine. She is involved with Reading Connections, an organization dedicated to improving literacy, something near and dear to her heart as she learned English upon moving to the U.S. Alejandra is also a leader within Diabetes Sisters, an organization providing education and support for women with diabetes. Alejandra grew up in Venezuela, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in production engineering from Universidad Simon Bolivar and a master’s degree in marketing. She and her husband, Juan, have a son named Lucas.

In all she does, Alejandra gives her time, talent, energy, and resources to make her community a better place. We are better for knowing and serving beside her, and we are grateful for the impact she has made.
