Staying CONNECT-ed

Despite COVID, The CONNECTions committee had another year of creative planning and hosting fun (yet safe!) member events. While some of the events still looked a little different from previous years, it is always wonderful when JLG members can gather and enjoy each other’s company!

We learned about perfuming during a fall candle-making class, where members mixed and matched scents to create their own custom perfumes. We also learned about proper wax melting and using our fragrances to create a perfect candle. Creativity and good smells were in full effect during this event!

Exploring downtown while learning about Greensboro’s history was a spooky great time during the Ghost Tour! Our tour guide was full of interesting information about the city – and the cold air wasn’t the only thing giving this girl goosebumps. Learning about Greensboro’s history –including the Revolutionary War, downtown building development, and the roaring ’20s – was both entertaining and educational.

An annual favorite is the beautiful holiday light display in the Sunset Hills neighborhood and we participated in the fun. With homemade hot chocolate in hand (thanks to our President Tyson Strandberg), we strolled the neighborhood and marveled at the brightly colored holiday lights. We admired the creative lighted balls while our conversations and laughter kept us warm. Certainly a night for the memory book!

Attending a CONNECTions event is a fun way to meet other members and learn or try new things. The group’s get-togethers are great opportunities to explore Greensboro or to revisit some favorite spaces. I always look forward to these outings and the chance to create memories with fellow League members!
