65th annual redding rodeo Story and Pictures by Tracye Dethero

The Redding Rodeo Association held its 65th Annual Rodeo on May 15th, 16th and 17th in Redding, CA as a part of the Wrangler Million Dollar Tour. Each night of the rodeo brought a full house of fans, cheering on cowboys and cowgirls from all over the nation. The first night of the rodeo, Wednesday, May 15, was family night, where children were free with a paid adult. It was then that bareback rider, Josi Young of Buhl, ID would ride 45 Lucky for 81 points, topping the riders that were before him that night. Immediately following his ride, Matt Bright of Azle, TX would ride 492 Gopher Hole for 83 points. A few horses later, Winn Ratliff of Leesville, LA, on 301 Black Ice, and Seth Hardwick of Laramie, WY, on 602 Fringe Benefits, would set the bar high with a pair 85 point rides for the night, leaving other cowboys to try and ride a few rank bucking horses to catch up. In the saddle bronc riding, Spencer Wright of Milford, UT was the first cowboy to make it to the eight second buzzer, scoring 81 points on X44 Fancy Pants, a Four Star Rodeo bucking horse. Chet Johnson of Sheridan, WY would be the next cowboy to ride the coveted eight seconds on X142 Pine Ridge for 83 points. A few sweet bronc rides later, Dustin Flundra of Pincher Creek, AB would change things up a bit and break out of the bucking chute on his trusty steed, 502 Friendly Fire with a roaring 84 points and the championship for the night. In the bull riding, Tim Bingham of Honeyville, UT was the first to crack the latch and ride for 84 points on Growney Brothers 957. Following his ride was Travis Atkinson of Lehi, UT on another Growney Brothers bull, S917 Fire Fox. He also rode for 84 points, closing out the Wednesday night performance of the 65th Annual Redding Rodeo. Thursday, May 16th, the weather cooled down a bit and brought a down pour with it, causing cowboys, cowgirls and fans to break out their dusters and raincoats. The unpredicted storm turned the arena into a mud pit for the cowboys and cowgirls to play in at one point or another during the evening. It also made it harder for the horses to buck due to the ground conditions. Barrelman, Crash Cooper had on his plastic baggie pants, covering his shoes and jeans as he paraded around the arena with a paint roller, playing tic tac toe in the mud with fans. It was more common for the cowboys to get bucked off their horses and land in the mud, then it was for them to hang on for the full eight seconds, re-ride options were also popular. Jacobs Crawley Clint Laye of Odessa, TX managed to hang on for the full eight seconds and a score of 72 points on a bucking horse named 438 Bet On Me. JR Vezain of Cowley, WY also hung on for the coveted eight second. Steven Peebles of Redmond, OR rode 902 Capone to the eight second buzzer for a score of 68 points and was then offered a re-ride option, which brought him 78 points on his ride. In the saddlebronc riding, Brad Rudolf of Winnemucca, NV rode Smooth Sailing for 81 points. Many other cowboys rode to the buzzer. In the bull riding, many of the cowboys had a great time twisting torros, as the mud waited for their landings. Bull Fighters, Eric Layton and Tim O’Connor had their work cut out for them, as many of the bull riders bucked off. Thankfully none of them were hung up. Tyler Smith of Frutia, CO rode for 87 points, along with Ty Pozzobon of Merrit, BC on Growney Brothers +931 for 90 points. Friday, May 17th, was Tough Enough To Wear Pink night at the Redding Rodeo, where all of the cowboys, cowgirls and fans were asked to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness. It was also the day of the Chicks N Chaps fundraiser, with the purpose of educating women about breast cancer awareness along with the sport of rodeo. Within the sea of pink around the arena, and the final night of rodeo, spirits were high and the rodeo grounds were packed. The bareback riding was the 4 Just Bucking News Crash Cooper

first event of the evening, with Tom McFarland starting off the night with an 81 point ride on 3011 Black Legs, following his efforts was bareback rider, Justin McDaniels of Porum, OK on 480 War Pig with an 84 point ride, both riders making a run at the money for the night. As Steven Dent of Mullen, NE broke out of the box on a horse named 66 Big Foot, rider and horse matched each other jump for jump, together they rode for 81 points. Following Dent’s ride, Kaycee Feild of Payson, AZ followed suit of the other riders and scored 85 points on 545 Pretty & Pink. In the saddlebronc riding, Jesse Wright of Milford, UT rode 126 Broken Smile for 80 points starting off the night. Following his ride was Joaquin Real of Woddy, CA. with an 81 point ride on a Bunch Brothers bucking horse named 358 Beaver Bait. Shane Proctor Kaycee Feild of Grand Coulee, WA. matched his ride on X142 Pine Ridge, by Corey & Lang Rodeo Company. Trey Benton III of Rock Island, TX started off the bull riding on +726 Inside Out riding for 77 points. Paul Coppini of Kuna, ID immediately followed his ride on Gowney Rodeo Company’s 826 Private Party for 88 points and a chance at the day money. Two riders later, Trevor Kastner of Ardmore, OK rode for 84 points on +720 Smokin Aces. Closing out the first section of bull riding for the night, was Shane Proctor of Grand Coulee, WA with a 93 point ride on Mr. Big, a Growney Brothers bull. In the second section of the bull riding, Chandler Bounds of Lubbock, TX was the only one to make it to the eight second buzzer, scoring 90 points on Growney Brothers S77 Snap Shot. Shane Proctor was one point shy of setting a new arena record in Redding. Instead, he matched the record that Clayton Foltyn set last year at the Redding Rodeo. The winners for the 65th Redding Rodeo are as follows: All Around Cowboy, Shane Proctor. Proctor took home a total of $5,881, taking home money in the saddlebronc and bull riding. Bareback: 1. Seth Hardwick, Winn Ratliff and Kaycee Feild with 85 points. 2. Justin McDaniel with 84 points. 3. Matt Bright with 83 points. 4. Ty Breaver, Steven Dent, Josi Young and Tom McFarland with 81 points. Saddlebronc: 1. Dustin Flundra with 84 points. 2. Chet Johnson with 83 points. 3. Sterling Crawley, Shane Proctor and Joaquin Real with 81 points. 4. Spencer Wright and Jesse Wright with 80 points. Bull Riding: 1. Shane Proctor with 93 points. 2. Chandler Bownds and Ty Pozzobon with 90 points. 3. Paul Coppini with 88 points. 4. Tyler Smith with 87 points 5. cottonwood, california’s 51st annual mother’s day rodeo by Tracye Dethero

the small town of Cottonwood held its 51st Annual Mother’s Day Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday, May 11 & 12, 2013, as families celebrated together around the small arena. I appreciate all that she has done for me and that she has always treated me like her son.” Forrest Mallory of King City, CA was fourth with 71 points. Dino Mosley of Pope Valley, CA rode +907 for 76 points and Colton Fish of Santa Rosa, CA rode #0012 for 73 points. Bennington evades tornado damage; broncs and bulls provide only twisters Two days before PRCA rodeo action was scheduled to come to Bennington, KS, the community appeared to be in the path of a fierce tornado. With the devastation done in Moore, OK, still fresh on everybody’s mind, it didn’t take much imagination to visualize the small Kansas town being wiped off the map. However, once the May storm subsided, the twister never reached the rodeo arena or the city limits. Oddly, the EF-4 tornado, barely moved over the course of an hour. One home was destroyed and several buildings received damage, according to news reports, but cattle were the only casualties of the storm. On Saturday evening, during the final performance of the three-day rodeo, only casual mentions were made among committeemen about the storms. It was rodeo time, and full bleachers showed the town’s population likely doubled that day. History repeated itself, as Jared Keylon, the 2012 Bennington bareback champion, successfully defended his title. The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier and Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo reserve champion, scored 81 on New Frontier’s Sinner, to pocket $1,102. Bee Jay Scott and Joe Gunderson tied for second with 79-point rides. Three-time Wrangler NFR qualifier Tate Stratton bested the field of bull riders, with an 86-point ride on New Frontier’s Smooth Operator, earning $1,568. He edged out second-place Sage Kimzey, who scored 85. Maggie Parker, who caught national attention at Bennington a year ago as the first woman to win a paycheck in PRCA bull riding competition, was unable to repeat the feat in 2013, coming down short of the whistle. Saddle bronc rider Cody Hamm, of nearby Minneapolis, KS, won his home-county rodeo with 80 points aboard New Frontier’s Toy Box. He pocketed $1,129 for his efforts. His brother, Ty Hamm, also kept some of the prize money in the county, as he placed sixth with a 72-point ride to earn $171. *** One of bull riding’s best has called it a day. Dustin Elliott, 2004 PRCA world champion bull rider, announced his retirement recently. Few people have been able to be successful simultaneously in the PRCA and the PBR, but Elliott was, reaching the PBR World Finals and the Wrangler NFR both in 2010. Whenever I interviewed Elliott, it was clear he was a happy family man, and was one of those people who had life after bull riding on his mind. While I haven’t learned of his retirement plans, I know he will be successful in whatever he does. *** Another rider who has been doing well in both associations over the past two seasons is Shane Proctor. The 2011 world champion bull rider has particularly caught my attention this season. While it seems like a given that he’ll be going to the PBR World Finals again this year, the odds also seem pretty good that he’ll be making it to the WNFR in the bull riding for the third consecutive year. What is more intriguing is he also has a legitimate shot at making it to Vegas as one of the world’s top 15 saddle bronc riders. At the time of this writing, he was ranked 32nd, and picked up an additional $903 in saddle bronc earnings with a second-place finish at Licking, MO, and another $426 for winning the broncs at Fletcher, NC. It would be great to see him make the WNFR in both events. The last time a roughstock hand qualified in two events was 2003, when Jesse Bail made it in both the saddle bronc riding and the bull riding. 8 Just Bucking News

Permit holder puts up a 90 in Bakersfield

When Casey Meroshnekoff put up a 90 on Big Stone, Moreno & Growney’s Blue Bayou to win the Kern County Sheriff’s Reserve Stampede Days Rodeo in Bakersfield, CA, it tied him with reigning World Champion Kaycee Feild and Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier Winn Ratliff for the highest-scored bareback ride of the 2013 season. Where Meroshnekoff is all alone this year – and just about any other year – is that he is a permit holder. No, that’s not precise enough. Meroshnekoff is a 19-year-old permit holder from Red Bluff, CA, who just put in his paperwork with the PRCA 45 days ago. “The highest score I’ve ever had was an 87 (at an amateur rodeo), so I was a little surprised,” Meroshnekoff said. “I mean I knew it was a good ride and I thought it would be in the 80s, but I figured I’m the new guy and it will take awhile for me to prove myself with the judges. I certainly didn’t think I’d get a 90.” Even disregarding the eye-catching score, he’s off to good start with that whole proving himself thing. Bakersfield was his second PRCA rodeo (he was eighth in his debut two weeks ago in Lakeside, CA,) and he came back on May 5 to win the Stonyford (CA,) Rodeo with an 83-point ride. That’s three checks in three tries and two wins. Meroshnekoff’s Bakersfield check for $1,223 was enough by itself to make him eligible to buy his PRCA card – and he’s decided not to wait. “I’ll go ahead and buy it sometime in the next few days,” Meroshnekoff said, “and make a run at the Rookie of the Year award.” Rodeo fans in California have been keenly aware of Meroshnekoff’s skill set for a while now. He won the National High School Finals Rodeo bareback riding title as a sophomore, finished fourth as a junior and won it again last year as a senior. As a freshman at West Hills College in Coalinga, CA, he is leading the West Coast Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association in bareback riding, bull riding, team roping (heeling) and the all-around, while also competing in tie-down roping. The other champions at the $45,882 rodeo in Bakersfield were steer wrestler Sterling Lambert (3.8 seconds), team ropers Clint White/Brent Lockett and Travis Xavier/Jake Twisselman (6.3 seconds each), rookie saddle bronc rider Landon Mecham (88 points), tie-down roper Ryle Smith (9.3 seconds), bull rider Allen Helmuth (89 points) and barrel racer Sydni Blanchard (17.16 seconds). Kyle Lockett claimed the all-around title with $1,741, competing in steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping.

Kastner caps big week in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV, – Trevor Kastner doesn’t care whether a rodeo is held at a large arena with plenty of tradition, or at a make-shift rodeo setup which is usually a parking lot – and he thrived at both last weekend. Following a solid performance in California, Kastner posted a dominating ride on Flying U Rodeo Company’s Gold Rush to win the Las Vegas Elks Helldorado Days. His 89-point effort earned him $3,477; not bad for a guy riding a bull he knew nothing about. “I didn’t know too much about him and had never seen him, so I looked him up and he looked pretty good on paper,” Kastner said of Gold Rush. “He came out of the gate strong to the left and then turned back right; he was a good bull.” The Helldorado Days, which take place in an outdoor arena that is built and taken down in a matter of days, offer a different feel to the competitors. For Kastner, anywhere he can get on a bull has a feeling of home. “This was my first time ever going to that rodeo, and it was pretty neat because it was different than other rodeos,” he said. “They just set it up in the middle of a parking lot, which you see at a few places, but not a lot. It was a nice change.” Kastner’s big week began in Redding, CA, where he split sixth at the Redding Rodeo – which was held in a traditional rodeo arena. He followed that with an 83-point ride at the Wrangler Champions Challenge, which was good enough for second place and a check for $3,000. In all, Kastner made $7,077 at the three rodeos, and moved into third place in the May 20 world standings 12 Just Bucking News

with $42,252. Considering Kastner had cooled off recently after a fast start to 2013, he’s ecstatic to have such a large weekend. “It feels great, especially because I had a decent week last week, but before that I had a slow period of a month or so,” he said. “Every year I think I get a little better because I keep getting more experience, and after each season I try to set my goals a little higher.” The other winners at the $95,686 rodeo were all-around cowboy B.J. Campbell ($2,256 in steer wrestling and team roping), bareback rider Ty Breuer (84 points), steer wrestler Billy Bugenig (4.0 seconds), team ropers Campbell and Clint Harry (4.3 seconds), saddle bronc rider Cody Wright (87 points), tie-down roper Cory Solomon (7.8 seconds) and barrel racer Jody Sheffield (15.57 seconds).

Canadian Kelts cashes in at Bonnyville Rodeo

BONNYVILLE, Alberta – Whenever Sam Kelts can win a check in Canada, it’s a two-for-one special. The Millarville, Alberta, resident rode Franklin Rodeo’s Scottish Lass for 85 points and the saddle bronc riding title at the Bonnyville ProRodeo, and the $1,574 he earned will help his stock in two sets of standings. “The money I win at these Canadian rodeos goes toward both the PRCA standings and my hopes of making it to Las Vegas, as well as toward the CPRA (Canadian Professional Rodeo Association) standings,” Kelts said. “It’s nice to be able to hit some quality rodeos up here in Canada during the spring season and not have to travel down south as much until Reno starts.” The 29-year-old bronc rider has been painfully close to making it to his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo the past two seasons. In 2011, Kelts was 13th in the world standings before suffering a season-ending injury in Fort Madison, Iowa. He got to rodeo full time in 2012, but was about $7,000 short of the final cut for the WNFR. Kelts – whose father Jim was the 1984 CPRA saddle bronc riding champion – has remained healthy and is riding well thus far in 2013, as he chases two dreams at once. “Making it to the NFR and winning a Canadian title are my two biggest rodeo dreams that I’ve had since I was a little kid,” said Kelts, who currently sits in the top three of the CPRA standings. “It would be amazing to be able to knock both of those out in the same season.” Kelts has traveled with fellow Canadians Dustin Flundra and Luke Butterfield for several years, and the trio just added a fresh face to the troupe. Layton Green, 19, has jumped into the rig, and in Bonnyville he made an immediate impact – tying for fourth. “That was the first rodeo he entered with us,” Kelts said of Green. “I had seen him a couple of times this spring and I hope he can keep up the success and everyone in our group can do well.” The attitude in the truck has been positive and competitive, which is something Kelts sees as an advantage for the quartet. “You need to travel with guys who have the same desire and motivation as you, because it’s hard to be around guys who don’t when you’re on the road as much as we are,” he said. “We’re all focused and wanting to hit the road hard.”

s the first three days of the Redding Rodeo came to a close, it was time for the Inaugural Wrangler PRCA Champions Challenge which was held on Saturday, May 18. The top ten in each event from the 2012 season were brought in and given the chance to compete with stock which was from the best contractors around, including Growney Brothers Rodeo, Four Star Rodeo, Bunch Brothers Rodeo Company, Corey & Lang Rodeo Company and Flying Diamond Rodeo Company. The famous Growney Brothers bucking horse, Moulin Rouge was also brought out of retirement for the event. Cowboys and cowgirls had a chance at the total payout of $80,000 and gold buckles. For winning first place, the cowboy or cowgirl was awarded $4,000, $3,000 for second, $2,000 for third and $1,000 for fourth. The Redding Rodeo Association hosted the event in which there are four rodeos in the Wrangler Champions Challenge series. The remaining three will be held in Amarillo, TX. on Sept. 18, Kissimmee, FL. on October 5 and in Winnie, TX. on October 30. Each will be recorded and shown on the Great American Country Channel. For viewing times you can go to www.prorodeo.com and take a look at the schedule. First out in the bareback riding, was Clint Laye who set the standard for the night with a 78 point ride on Spanish Bit, the points slowly climbed after his ride. Wes Stevenson of Lubbock, TX. was next to ride, scoring 80 points on 7R Short Fuse. The scores continued to climb in the event as Justin McDaniel of Porum, OK. hung on for the coveted eight seconds on 49 Danged If You Do for 85 points. Steven Dent of Mullen, NE. got on 960 Beaver Fever scoring 83 points. Following his ride, Kaycee Field of Payson, AZ. took a shot at riding the legendary Growney bucking horse, Moulin Rouge. After three nice jumps, Field was bucked off as Moulin Rouge continued to buck. JR Vezain of Cowley, WY. was next to get on 017 Raggedy Ann, riding the bucking horse for 84.5 points. Will Lowe was the final cowboy to get on his bareback horse and it was totally worth the wait for the Texas cowboy. He rode 502 Friendly Fire for 86 points and a check for $4,000 and a gold buckle. Will Lowe 1. Will Lowe, Canyon, TX. 86 points. 2. Justin McDaniel, Porum, OK. 85 points. 3. JR Vezain, Cowley, TX. 84.5 points. 4. Steven Dent, Mullen, NE. 83 points. The saddlebronc riding was a bit more of a challenge for the cowboys as four of them were bucked off before the eight second whistle. Taos Muncy of Corona, NM. started things off for the night with an eight second ride aboard -308 Gypsy Soul for 75 points. Following his ride was Jesse Wright of Milford, UT. with an 85 point ride. His brother, Spencer tried to follow his efforts, but ended up with 59 points as his horse was not in the mood to buck. Cody DeMoss of Heflin, LA. came out of the bucking chutes with his own ideas and stuck it to 409 Little Jean Jacket for the lead with an 87.5 point ride. Next out of the chutes was Sterling Crawley, of Stephenville, TX, spurring his way through the arena for a total of 80 points on a horse named 308 Frontier. The final rider of the night in the event was Wade Sundell of Coleman, OK. Sundell rode 412 Cow Camp for 86 points, taking him into second place. Louisiana Cowboy, Cody DeMoss, won the event and took home the check for $4,000 and a gold buckle. 1. Cody DeMoss, Heflin, TX. 87.5. 2. Wade Sundell, Coleman, OK. 86 points. 3. Jesse Wright, Milford, UT. 83 points. 4. Sterling Crawley, Stephenville, TX. 80 points. The bull riding was definitely the Champions Challenge. Two of the 10 riders made it to the eight second buzzer, as rider after rider were bucked off, only to be chased by their bull. Cole Echols of Elm 14 Just Bucking News

Abbyville Rodeo Abbyville KS, held the 51st Abbyville Frontier Days PRCA Rodeo. The weekend started off with slack on Friday morning. One of the local schools brings the kids to watch the slack and visit with the visiting rodeo Queens. The town of 87 people with a grain elevator, a post office and a church, turns into several thousand people. The rodeo is a family oriented rodeo. They have home made pies, ham and beans, chicken noodle dinners and a real pit barbeque on Saturday night. The town gets together on Saturday morning for the parade, with of all kinds of floats and entries. After the parade they hold a ham and bean, chicken noodle dinner that brings the community together. Saturday the rodeo grounds held the first ever truck show, not talking pickup truck show, this was a Big Rig Truck show. They were judged on best of show, best interior and best paint. Saturday night, the rodeo started with the grand entry and fan fare. The stands were filled with people that were there to enjoy the rodeo and have a good time. The bucking chutes opened up with the bronc riding and the crowd cheered on as the rides went on. There was rain in the forecast, but people were ready for the rain, as we have needed the rain. Later during the rodeo the winds came out of the south blowing dust in the arena, then the rains came in. People left the arena to find a place to wait out the rains. After the rains left, the people started to fill back into the stands. Umbrellas and rain coats or even plastic bags were seen all over the arena. The rains helped with the dust control, it was just enough rain to wet the arena. The rodeo went on as scheduled, just had to take a 30 minute intermission. Abbyville is a world class small town small rodeo, that has great fans, contestants and a committee that helps to bring the town together.

Zach Paxson Zach Paxson grew up in a small town in northeast Ohio, where his dad had a bluegrass band. Paxson would go to shows where his father was playing and literally fall asleep in a guitar case when he got tired. When Paxson was approximately six years old, he learned to play the mandolin, then continued with learning to play the guitar. On Wednesday nights, his father’s band would practice in the families’ kitchen, playing until all hours of the night. After graduating high school, Paxson formed his own band and started playing local venues. Paxson also spent a lot of time playing guitar and writing songs. “A friend told me one day, that my music was too good to not share it with others,” said Paxson. In 2011, Paxson released his first album, titled “Good Luck With That,” under the Futuregrass record label. His second album, titled “Simple Life,” was released in April of 2013. One of the songs featured on the album, titled “OHIO” has been put before the Ohio State Senate to become the states official song. All of Paxson’s music has been originally penned by the artist himself. Paxson has been playing 50-60 dates per year, but has many great hopes for this year with a planned 100-150 performances. He also plans to release a new single in the fall of 2013, and a new album in 2014, which has yet to be titled. Paxson is a huge supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Cystic Fibrosis and Relay for Life. He will be sharing the stage this year with Nashville Recording Artist, Jeremy Miller, at the Nikki Fezzle Cystic Fibrosis Explosion of Hope Foundation. Last year, Paxson also opened for Charlie Daniels in front of a crowd of approximately 6,000 people. In October of 2013, Zack Paxson will be performing on a cruise with Lynyrd Skynyrd, which is the Simple Man Crusie. Besides heading to Florida for the cruise, Paxson has booked dates in Georgia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Demographically, his fans are mostly between the ages of 21 to 45 years old, depending on the venue that Paxson is playing. “There is a message with in country music,” said Paxson. “It is about life, having fun and human emotion. With this coming year, I see many great things on the horizon for us, heading back into the studio and playing new venues.” Paxson’s music has been inspired by Zak Brown, Lynard Skynard and his fathers love for blue grass music. Besides singing country music, Paxson is a very skilled contractor and is known to his friends as the “Blue Collared Singing Carpenter.”

Tracye’s Bucking Report Story and photos by Tracye Dethero The second annual Wrangler Chicks’ N Chaps Fundraiser was hosted by the Redding Rodeo Association on Friday, May 17th at the rodeo grounds in Redding, CA. This is the second year that the Redding Rodeo Association has held the event with all of its proceeds going to Nor Cal Think Pink and into a small fund to help local cancer patients. The event is designed to educate women about breast cancer and the ins and outs of rodeo. This year, Dr. Ian Grady, a breast cancer specialist, was one of the guest speakers along with cancer survivor Jean Ann Popejoy of Redding. Also taking place were a live auction and raffle, a tour of the rodeo grounds given by Stock Contractor, John Growney of Red Bluff, along with a question and answer session with bull rider, Chandler Bownds of Lubbock, TX. Following the tour, a tri-tip lunch was served by Mary’s Pizza Shack and then the women went out to the arena to try their hand at riding the Mighty Bucky and learning to throw a rope first on the ground, and then getting on TATA the rope horse, that was made by Eddie Axner Construction and Justin Myer of Redding, Calif. TATA will be used for many years to come, along with the Mighty Bucky, in which the women’s association is trying to find sponsors to purchase one that is painted breast cancer pink. Following the event, the women met up again in Rodeo Flats, to band together in a sea of pink in what the Redding Rodeo Association humbly refers to as “The Chick Pit,” to enjoy the rodeo and get a little crazy. Announcer, Wayne Brooks of Lampasas, TX and Barrelman, CraAsh Cooper of Saskatchewan, Canada, both took the opportunity and got the group of women riled up and cheering for the cowboys and cowgirls on the final night of the 65th annual Redding Rodeo.

“We had a great turn out of fun women this year, up from last year! We look forward to this event growing each year and being a major contributor to the local community breast cancer awareness and treatment assistance! Stay tuned to our website at ReddingRodeo.com under the Chicks n Chaps tab for all the newest fundraising figures, pictures and sponsors! Next year we will have our very own section of the grandstands because we expect to have outgrown our other event spot!! So, if you missed it this year, make sure you get in for next year!!! 20 Just Bucking News
