GIOVANNA GONZATTO BRIDGING CULTURES,

REDEFINING

ELEGANCE

With both Brazilian and Italian roots, fashion model and influencer Giovanna Gonzatto embodies a rare blend of warmth, vibrancy, and timeless sophistication. Her multicultural background not only shapes her personal style—infused with Brazilian spontaneity and Italian refinement—but also gives her a unique presence on the global stage. Whether in front of the camera or connecting with audiences online, Giovanna ’s authenticity shines through, allowing her to seamlessly move between diverse markets and aesthetics while staying true to herself.

From her early fascination with magazines and runways to her first nervous but unforgettable fashion show, Giovanna has transformed childhood dreams into an international career defined by resilience, elegance, and vision. Inspired by icons like Gisele Bündchen and fueled by her own determination, she has embraced the challenges of modeling while carving out her own path. In this exclusive interview, Giovanna opens up about her journey, her creative passions beyond modeling, and the values that keep her grounded in an everchanging fashion world.

Giovanna, you have both Brazilian and Italian roots—how has your multicultural background influenced your identity and presence in the fashion world?

My Brazilian roots brought me lightness, energy, and authenticity, while my Italian heritage sharpened my sense of elegance. I can move naturally between Brazilian warmth and spontaneity and classic Italian sophistication, which is reflected both in front of the cameras and in my personal style. In the fashion world, this multicultural background helps me connect with different markets and adapt to diverse styles and narratives, without ever losing my essence.

Growing up, who or what first inspired you to pursue modeling?

Since childhood, I have always been fascinated by the world of fashion and photography. I loved looking at magazines, runways, and women who embodied strength and elegance. That fascination inspired me to dream of living this up close, and eventually, it became my path. Gisele Bündchen has always been a great inspiration to me—not only for her remarkable career but also for the strength and authenticity she conveys. She is part of my generation, the number one, a true reference not only in global fashion but also for us, Brazilian women. The fact that she comes from my home state, Rio Grande do Sul, made me believe even more that this dream could also be possible for me.

I remember my very first job as a model as if it were yesterday. It was a fashion show with many models. I was very nervous but also full of expectations. That was when I realized that the fashion world requires much more than beauty— it’s about professionalism, patience, and being open to learning from every detail. That first experience showed me that every job, no matter how small it may seem, is an opportunity for growth. I met special people there, many of whom were also starting their careers and went on to become great professionals.

What have been some of the most memorable moments of your career so far?

I’ve had several memorable moments. One that marked me deeply was going through a fourday casting with many models and being chosen for the job—it made me so happy! Another was a shampoo campaign, where my image was featured across all media, giving great visibility to my work. And perhaps the most impactful was my very first international modeling trip. I felt it was a turning point—I would never be the same again. Seeing my work reach different parts of the world confirmed that I was truly living my dream, a journey that would transform me and bring countless experiences to live.

“My heritage greatly influences my sense of style. ”

Do you feel your heritage has shaped your sense of style in a unique way?

My heritage greatly influences my sense of style. From Brazil , I carry joy, diversity, and natural ease. From Italy , I inherited a passion for timeless elegance and refined tailoring. This fusion shaped me in a unique way, creating a style that blends lightness and sophistication, always staying true to who I am.

Can you share the story of your very first modeling job and what you learned from that experience?

Modeling can be glamorous but also challenging—what has been the biggest obstacle you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?

A modeling career is challenging in many ways. One of the biggest obstacles I faced was dealing with aesthetic pressure. Fashion constantly creates standards, and in the beginning, I felt the need to fit into them—keeping “perfect” measurements is a challenge many models face, an endless demand. Over time, I learned that true distinction comes from authenticity. Another challenge was the instability of the market, which taught me resilience and patience, helping me understand that pauses are also part of the process. And of course, being far from my family was a difficult obstacle from the very beginning. I learned to turn homesickness into fuel and to value my roots even more. Looking back, I see that all those challenges were, in fact, great teachers, shaping me into the woman and professional I am today.

How would you describe your personal style when you’re off-duty?

My personal style off the runway reflects my authentic and light nature. I prefer comfortable clothes and light colors—like white and beige, neutral tones that convey simplicity and elegance. Even in my downtime, I like to stay aligned with my essence and feel good about myself.

Is there a designer or brand that you dream of collaborating with?

There are many brands I would love to collaborate with. More than a specific name, what attracts me is working with brands that value elegance, creativity, and innovation— places where I can bring my authenticity and style into the project. Lately, I’ve been working with brands that align with my personal style, and that’s been incredible. Representing a brand in harmony with my identity makes the work flow in a very natural and special way, reflecting both the brand’s essence and my own.

What do you think sets Brazilian and Italian fashion apart, and how do you bring both influences into your work?

I see Brazilian fashion as free, vibrant, and creative—inspired by nature and the country’s cultural diversity, often reflected in beachwear and lighter styles. On the other hand, Italian fashion emphasizes luxury: sophisticated, elegant, and highly detailed, with tradition and impeccable craftsmanship, always seeking the bella figura through classic, high-quality pieces. Each has its unique essence and inspires in different ways. I love both—they both hold my heart. This combination creates a unique presence in front of the cameras, allowing me to move naturally between different styles and cultures, always maintaining authenticity and elegance.

In an ever-changing fashion landscape, what trends do you find most exciting right now,

and which do you think are timeless?

I find trends that combine comfort and sophistication very interesting—like oversized pieces, deconstructed tailoring, and neutral colors with vibrant touches. At the same time, I believe timeless pieces—such as trench coats, well-tailored blazers, classic dresses, good jeans, a white or black top, and quality accessories—never go out of style and always highlight elegance and versatility.

Beyond modeling, do you have creative passions you’d like to explore in the fashion industry, such as design, photography, or creative direction?

This is a world I’ve been truly passionate about from the very beginning. My love for fashion goes beyond being in front of the cameras. I explore photography and creative direction whenever I can, because I love observing how ideas transform into images and campaigns that tell stories. I love learning. Exploring these areas allows me to better understand the creative process and bring more value to the projects I’m part of. I’m deeply passionate about photography, and this entire universe is truly fascinating to me—it’s my life.

Social media has become a big part of a model’s career—how do you balance authenticity with your professional image online?

For me, social media is an extension of my career and my personality. I seek to balance authenticity and professionalism, sharing real moments of my life and work while carefully curating the image I build. This allows me to connect with people in a genuine way, while staying consistent with my professional journey and the brands I represent. I also like to share motivational and inspiring quotes, because I believe in the power of influencing people positively. I feel a lot of love and respect from those who follow me, and that motivates me to maintain a professional, serious image while

also showing authenticity in a close, genuine, and elegant way—reflecting who I am both on and off the cameras.

Traveling is part of a model’s life—what has been your favorite city to work in, and why?

Among all the places I’ve worked, China was, without a doubt, the one that enchanted me the most—the place where I connected deeply and produced so much in such a short time. It’s a country of immense production, with very friendly people and a culture completely different from anything I had experienced before. I was simply surprised in so many positive ways. Working in China was the fulfillment of a dream and an experience that marked both my career and personal life. It taught me a lot about diversity, about adapting to different styles and environments, and about bringing even more versatility and authenticity to my work as a model.

When you’re not working, how do you recharge and stay grounded?

I like to reconnect with myself and with what makes me happy. Traveling, being with family

and friends, doing activities that bring me joy, and spending time in nature are ways I recharge my energy. I truly cherish these moments, and whenever I have free days, I try to enjoy them as much as possible. They help me return to work with more focus, inspiration, and balance.

What advice would you give to young aspiring models who look up to you?

Believe in your potential and always stay true to yourself—never lose your essence. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not capable. Believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams. This career requires dedication, patience, and a lot of discipline. Staying authentic and loving what you do is what truly makes the difference. Authenticity is what will take you further. Cultivate your personality and your uniqueness, and remember that being a true professional also means respecting everyone. Only we can dream our dreams—it depends on you. You need to offer more than just a beautiful face: influence, talent, attitude—that’s what sets you apart in the market. It’s essential to stay grounded, responsible, committed, and consistent.

JAMIE VILLAMOR REDEFINING STRENGTH,

STYLE, AND PURPOSE IN FASHION

Few models embody the union of elegance, resilience, and empowerment quite like Jamie Villamor . A fashion model and professional shooter, Jamie has carved a space in the industry that reflects not only her striking presence on international magazine covers, but also her ability to align beauty with deeper values. For her, modeling has never been about a single defining moment of “making it”—rather, it’s been a journey of milestones, perseverance, and the joy of seeing years of dedication culminate in surreal, career-defining experiences.

Beyond fashion, Jamie carries her passions into advocacy, entrepreneurship, and community work. Whether it’s championing firearm safety, engaging in philanthropic projects close to her heart, or balancing multiple creative ventures, she proves that strength and femininity are not opposites, but powerful complements. With a personal style that blends timeless chic with everyday ease, she continues to inspire others by embracing all facets of herself—model, entrepreneur, advocate, and mother.

Jamie, what was the turning point where you felt you had truly “made it” as a model?

For me, it wasn’t one moment. It was a series of milestones. But the first time I saw myself on a magazine cover, it felt surreal. It was a reminder that all the early mornings, rejection, and persistence had paid off.

Most memorable moment in your modeling career so far?

Being featured on international magazine covers is always special, but what stands out most are the opportunities to represent brands that truly align with my values. One of my favorite memories was shooting for a campaign abroad where I could combine my love for travel, firearms, and fashion.

This year, working with Firearms Legal Protection has been especially rewarding—not only because of what the brand represents, but because of the opportunities it creates to educate, help, and give back. I believe strongly in using my platform to share knowledge, empower others, and bring awareness to safety and responsibility. Whether it’s connecting with people oneon-one or reaching a broader audience through campaigns, the chance to make a positive impact is what I value most.

How would you describe your personal style, and does it differ from the image in your editorial work?

My personal style is chic yet effortless. I love pieces that are timeless and flattering, but I also have fun with fashion. Editorial work often pushes me into more dramatic or edgy looks, but in my daily life I gravitate toward classic staples. I love a nice pair of designer tennis shoes but also love wearing a 6” heel.

What fashion trends excite you right now, and which do you think are timeless?

I love the return of tailored pieces with a modern twist. As for timeless, you can never go wrong with a little black dress or a perfectly cut blazer.

“Strength is not the absence of femininity it’s an expression of it.”

How do you balance modeling, business ventures, and personal projects?

Balance comes with discipline. I’ve learned to prioritize what truly matters and to stay focused and organized. I see everything I do whether it’s modeling, launching a business, my podcasts as part of a bigger picture of creativity and purpose. Staying in a mindset of gratitude is key for me.

Do you see strength and femininity as complementary forces in your life and career?

Absolutely. Strength is not the absence of femininity it’s an expression of it. For me, being strong means owning who you are with grace, and I believe that’s where true beauty comes from. Beauty is an energy.

Do you have any rituals or go-to confidence boosters before a big shoot?

I always take a moment to ground myself sometimes with meditation, sometimes with music. I remind myself to have fun. Confidence, for me, comes from preparation and mindset. Day before I’m relaxed yet focused and try for 8 hours of sleep yet sometimes with travel it’s not always easy yet it’s always the goal. After a big shoot I love to spoil myself with a great meal and nice dessert. I definitely get excited for that it’s like a nice reward.

What message do you hope readers take away from your feature in this issue of QP?

That you can embrace many facets of yourself. You don’t have to be just one thing you can be strong, feminine, creative, entrepreneurial, and compassionate all at once. Have fun, be kind and know that the world is full of endless possibilities it’s ok to redirect.

Can you share a memorable or funny behindthe-scenes moment from this cover shoot?

On this shoot, the wind had a mind of its own. There was a point where everyone was trying to keep my hair and dress in place, it was actually styled down and we had to put it up with a clip and instead of getting frustrated, we were all laughing. It made the whole day lighthearted and fun.

What advice would you give aspiring models or young women pursuing their passions?

Never let “no” define you. Get use to hearing it but understanding beauty is subjective. Work ethic and resilience will take you further than anything else. And always stay true to yourself. authenticity will be your greatest asset. Always be early offer to help out even if it’s not your area of expertise. It’s always a team effort and people love a team player.

Has there ever been a time when you struggled with self-doubt, and how did you overcome it?

Of course. I think everyone does. For me, leaning on my faith, my family, and reminding myself of past victories helps me push through. Selfdoubt is temporary your purpose is bigger. You have to quiet the voice in your head and show up regardless. I’ve never regretted showing up even when I didn’t feel my best or 100% prepared.

Outside of fashion, what passions or causes are closest to your heart?

Giving back has always been deeply important to me. Volunteering keeps me grounded and reminds me of the bigger picture. Two causes that are especially close to my heart are Joy Prom in Las Vegas and organizations

supporting children with cancer here in Nevada . At Joy Prom , I’ve had the privilege of volunteering with my daughters dancing the night away with kids and young adults who just want to feel celebrated and seen, it’s an evening filled with so much love and joy that it stays with me long after. Similarly, supporting families navigating childhood cancer has shown me what true resilience looks like. These experiences remind me why I do what I do, and they inspire me to use my platform in ways that uplift others.

Looking ahead, what’s next for you—both in fashion and beyond?

I’m excited to continue modeling and collaborating with brands I love, but I’m equally passionate about my travel podcast with Jon , Always on Adventures . Beyond fashion, I’ve become very focused on health, wellness, and more recently biohacking, exploring ways to optimize both body and mind. Family is always at the center of everything I do, and I want to keep creating opportunities that not only inspire women to embrace all sides of themselves, but also show that you can pursue your passions while staying grounded in health, balance, and love.

HOW TO BE STYLISH FOR FALL

Fall fashion is more than just swapping out summer dresses for cozy layers—it’s about embracing the season’s energy while staying true to your personal style. From bold fabrics like leather and denim to the softer, more fluid materials shaping 2025’s trends, this season encourages individuality over reinvention. Whether you’re a sneaker devotee, a heel enthusiast, or somewhere in between, the art of dressing for fall lies in refining what you already love and adding fresh, expressive touches. This is where comfort meets creativity, and where everyday street style transforms into effortless elegance.

Fashion is indeed lively, showcasing highly anticipated designs or even surprising ones. Likewise, innovations each season always create trends. When fall fashion returns, everyone naturally wants something better and more exciting than before. Fall still focuses on people who tend to be active outside, unlike winter. The philosophy of fall fashion is truly an art that flows without being forced, not idealistic but not outright rebellious. Therefore, it is deeply embedded in those who always enjoy street fashion. They style the streets from New York to London, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources. In 2025, bold and thick materials still dominate but always adapt to softer materials, especially materials like denim and leather.

STICKING TO SHAPES AND PIECES THAT ALIGN WITH YOUR STYLE

Many people consider fashion tips a complete overhaul of their style. Fashion styles for each season, including fall, are designed to be comfortable and aesthetically pleasing to everyone, but everyone should have their own style.

If you're a sneaker person, stick with them for fall and find tips on how to mix and match them to create a stunning outfit. What about high heels, which are also recommended for fall? You can still try them! Fashion is flexible, and there's style in it. Most people don't need a completely different style. Honestly, they just need a style that's both artistic and comfortable and not too different from their current style. That's part of being stylish; discover it, and keep experimenting, because it's never-ending. Enjoy!

KATHARINA NAHLIK WHERE TIMELESS FEMININITY MEETS MODERN INFLUENCE

With a career that began on the runways of Europe and Asia , Katharina Nahlik has gracefully evolved into one of fashion’s most radiant voices. From her first major show with La Perla in Singapore to walking Miami Swim Week and collaborating with powerhouse brands like Guess and Balmain , Katharina has proven that modeling is far more than aesthetics— it is storytelling, discipline, and the art of embodying a vision. Today, she balances the glamour of international fashion with the groundedness of her own authenticity, carving a path that bridges European sophistication with American dynamism.

Now splitting her time between continents, Katharina is more than just a model and influencer—she is a creator with a vision. With her upcoming lifestyle brand, Foreign Affairs , she is preparing to merge elegance with everyday essentials, bringing her philosophy of beauty, balance, and confidence into the world of design. In this exclusive conversation, Katharina opens up about her journey, her inspirations, and the empowering lessons she hopes to pass on to the next generation of women in fashion.

Jewelry RETROFETE

Katharina, you’ve made a name for yourself as both a model and influencer. How did your journey into fashion begin?

My modeling career in Europe began in 2014 when I competed in the Miss Vienna pageant. That experience gave me a strong foundation in Austria, my home country, and helped me build confidence. A year earlier, when I was just 17, I had already moved to Singapore for work, and my very first job there was a runway show for La Perla. It was a beautiful way to step into the fashion world and gave me a sense of direction early on.

Do you remember your first-ever modeling job? What was it like stepping onto that set?

Yes, I’ll never forget it. My first big international job was that La Perla runway show in Singapore . I was nervous, of course, but the moment I walked the runway, I felt an incredible mix of empowerment and elegance. It showed me that modeling is about much more than clothes. Modeling is about telling a story and embodying the designers vision.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Feminine, soulful, radiant. You’ve worked with a variety of brands—what qualities make you say “yes” to a collaboration?

Authenticity, creativity, and a true connection to the brand’s vision. When I worked with Guess or Balmain , for example, I felt drawn to their energy and storytelling. I want collaborations to feel natural and aligned with who I am, not just a surface-level partnership.

online?

By sharing both sides. Fashion is glamorous, yes, but there is also the travel, the preparation, and the discipline behind it. I spent years working in Italy before moving to the United States, then five years in Miami and Los Angeles. Now I’m balancing both European and American markets. Sharing that reality alongside the polished images keeps things authentic.

Who are some of your biggest fashion inspirations—past or present?

I’ve always admired women like Monica Bellucci . She embodies timeless femininity, confidence, and sensuality without ever apologizing for it. That kind of presence inspires me: elegant, strong, and unapologetically feminine.

“Modeling is about telling a story and embodying the designers vision.”

What role does storytelling play in your modeling and influencer content?

It is everything. Every campaign tells a story, whether it is confidence, romance, or strength. Even on social media, I like to share more than the final images. I enjoy showing the journey, the travel, the behind-the-scenes, the reality of the work. That authenticity creates a stronger connection.

How do you balance the polished world of high fashion with your everyday authenticity

Is there a designer or brand you dream of working with that you haven’t yet?

Yes, Dior has always been a dream for me. Their mix of heritage, sophistication, and celebration of femininity feels very aligned with my own style.

Social media can be both empowering and demanding. How do you stay grounded in the digital space?

I focus on balance. Social media is an amazing platform, but I remind myself that it is only one part of the picture. What grounds me is my work ethic, my routines, and time with family. I also try to use social media as a way of inspiring, not as a measure of success.

How do you prepare mentally and physically for a major shoot or runway? Any rituals?

Discipline is essential. I prepare with healthy food, exercise, and sleep, but I also take a few minutes before a show to center myself. A bit of meditation or quiet reflection helps me step into the moment with confidence.

What’s something about the modeling world most people don’t realize or understand?

That it requires a lot of resilience. People see the glamorous results, but behind them are long days, constant travel, and the pressure to always bring your best energy. It is a rewarding career, but it is also a demanding one.

Swimsuit

AGENT PROVOCATEUR

You travel constantly—what’s one city that inspires your style the most, and why?

London really inspires me. There’s such a unique mix of tradition and modernity in the way people dress there. You see elegance, but also creativity and boldness…it is never boring. I love that balance of classic and edgy, and I think it reflects how I approach my own style too.

How do you define beauty beyond what we see in campaigns or posts?

Beauty for me is self-care, confidence, and kindness. It is not just how you look but how you treat yourself and others. That philosophy is also behind my upcoming brand, Foreign Affairs . I want to create products that make everyday routines, like doing laundry, feel elevated and elegant.

What’s the most empowering moment you’ve experienced in your career so far?

Walking the runway at Miami Swim Week was unforgettable. It was a moment where I could see how far I had come since my first runway show. Another special highlight for me was my recent shoot with Antoine Verglas in St. Barth . It was at sunrise on a secluded beach and the energy was absolutely magical. I had dreamed of working with him for years, so seeing it come together was empowering and emotional.

In an industry often focused on aesthetics, how do you take care of your mental well-being?

I make time for balance. Meditation, journaling, and connecting with family and friends are all important for me. I also focus on self-discipline and not comparing myself to others. Everyone’s journey is unique, and I try to honor my own path. What advice would you give to young girls who look up to you and want to pursue modeling or influencing?

Believe in yourself and be prepared to work

hard. Stay professional, be kind, and don’t take rejection personally. Each “no” only brings you closer to the right opportunity. And never lose your authenticity, because that is what makes you unique.

What’s one item in your closet you’ll never part with, no matter the trends?

A classic black blazer. It is timeless, versatile, and always gives me confidence, whether it is for a casting, a dinner, or even with jeans.

Do you see yourself stepping into fashion design, creative direction, or brand building in the future?

Yes, that is exactly the direction I am taking. Launching Foreign Affairs later this year is the first step. It is a lifestyle brand that brings elegance into everyday essentials. In the long term, I want to expand into creative direction and brand building because I love shaping experiences, not just images.

What does influence mean to you in 2025—and how do you use your platform for more than just fashion?

Influence to me means responsibility. It is not just about inspiring someone’s wardrobe but about inspiring confidence and independence. I want young women to see that they can build a career on their own terms and stay true to themselves along the way.

Finally, what can we expect next from Katharina Nahlik? Any exciting projects on the horizon?

I am continuing to balance campaigns between Europe and the United States , which is exciting because it allows me to bring both worlds together. But my main focus this year is launching Foreign Affairs . It is still in its early stages, but I am very passionate about it. Beyond that, I am open to new opportunities that challenge me and allow me to grow both as a model and as an entrepreneur.

RAJA AMPAT

INDONESIA

THE EDGE OF THE OCEAN

There are places on earth that feel more like dreams than destinations. Raja Ampat , a secluded archipelago off the northwest tip of Papua in Indonesia , is one of them. Accessible only by yacht or seaplane, it remains the realm of those who seek the extraordinary. For the fashion-forward traveler, it is less about what you wear and more about the timeless beauty you’re enveloped in — crystalline lagoons, emerald isles, and the richest marine biodiversity on the planet. This isn’t just safari—it’s haute wilderness.

RAJA AMPAT BY DAY

By day, Raja Ampat offers underwater worlds few will ever experience. Here, divers glide through coral gardens teeming with neon fish, manta rays, and rare species found nowhere else. Snorkelers skim along shallow reefs so vibrant they seem painted, while kayakers explore secret coves that reveal themselves only at low tide. Every horizon feels cinematic, every dive a living runway of color and movement.

RAJA AMPAT BY NIGHT

By night, the scene transforms into something deeply indulgent. Guests retreat to private overwater villas, where infinity pools blend seamlessly into the ocean and starlit skies stretch endlessly overhead. Sustainability is woven into the luxury here — eco-resorts are designed to preserve the natural environment, ensuring that Raja Ampat’s rare beauty remains untouched. The balance between barefoot simplicity and curated sophistication creates a sense of intimacy unlike any other tropical escape.

WHERE TO STAY

Misool Eco Resort – Set on its own private island, Misool offers barefoot luxury with a conscience. Built entirely from reclaimed materials, it combines indulgent overwater villas with some of the best diving in the world — right at your doorstep.

Papua Paradise Eco Resort – Nestled on the edge of a lush jungle, this retreat offers overwater bungalows where sunrise breakfasts unfold over turquoise seas. Perfect for travelers seeking both tranquility and adventure.

Luxury Yacht Charters – For the ultimate in exclusivity, a private liveaboard yacht allows you to chart your own course through Raja Ampat’s hidden lagoons and secret dive sites. With onboard chefs and dive instructors, it’s a floating five-star escape.

PAPUA PARADISE ECO RESORT

WHAT TO EXPERIENCE

Diving & Snorkeling – Raja Ampat is home to more than 75% of the world’s coral species. Manta Sandy and Cape Kri are must-visit dive sites for their surreal biodiversity.

Private Island Picnics – Resorts arrange castaway-style lunches on uninhabited islands, complete with champagne on the sand.

Cultural Encounters – Visit local Papuan villages for an intimate glimpse of island traditions, weaving, and music — a reminder of the human spirit that thrives in this remote paradise.

Stargazing at Sea – Far from light pollution, the night skies reveal constellations so vivid they feel within reach, best enjoyed from the deck of a yacht.

Raja Ampat is a reminder that the world still holds corners of untouched wonder, waiting for those willing to go further. Here, at the edge of the ocean, luxury is not defined by excess — but by rarity, intimacy, and the privilege of discovery.

Raja Ampat is not a place for casual travelers; it is a pilgrimage for those who desire both remoteness and refinement. It is an adventure whispered between explorers and tastemakers, a destination where exclusivity is measured not in velvet ropes but in the privilege of presence.

For September, when summer begins to fade in the West, Raja Ampat calls with warm seas, endless sun, and a reminder that the truest luxuries are found at the edge of the ocean.

“Some places you visit — others you carry with you forever. Raja Ampat is both.”

MARC EVANS THE ART OF STORYTELLING THROUGH THE LENS

Few photographers have managed to blend timeless sensuality with narrative depth as seamlessly as British photographer Marc Evans . Influenced from childhood by the legendary Helmut Newton , Marc has built a career spanning more than three decades, where his images are never just about “a pretty girl in a pretty dress” but about capturing emotion, character, and story. His distinctive style—what he calls “sophisticated sexiness”—has made him a sought-after creative force, one whose photographs continue to resonate far beyond their surface beauty.

In this exclusive conversation, Marc opens up about his creative process, his evolution from the film era to digital, and the deep respect he carries for the women he photographs. With an unwavering belief that unforgettable fashion images stem from emotion rather than technique, he reminds us why true artistry in photography cannot be manufactured—it must be lived, felt, and expressed.

Marc, what first drew you into fashion photography, and when did you realize it could be more than just a passion?

I decided to work in fashion when i was 8 years old after seeing a book by Helmut Newton. Maybe it had something to do with the pretty girls at that time. lol. Helmut Newton till today is still my hero and very influential in my work.

Do you remember the very first image you captured that made you think, this is what I want to do?

No. After my decision to become a photographer I bought my first camera a few years later. I guess I shot my girlfriend at that time. I still have those pictures.

How would you describe your visual signature or the essence of a “Marc Evans” photograph?

My goal is and has always been to not show a pretty girl in a pretty dress, but to tell a story with every photo I take. Before the shoot there is a lot of thought going into it. Yes, my photos still have Newton ’s influence but it’s never a copy of his work. For me it’s important to tell a story, not just to take a pretty picture. Till today, 30 years later, my work is influenced by Helmut Newton.

Now, 30 years later, it's more the other way around . Now I get booked because of my style. I would define it with my own words: sophisticated sexyness.

You’ve worked with some incredible teams— how do you approach collaboration with stylists, models, and designers?

Nothing is as important as the team around you. A photo rises or falls with the team around you. But after hair, makeup, styling and light, it becomes a very personal relationship between the model and the photographer. If the spark is not there you will see it in the picture. Especially if I work with the model the first time, I try to talk to her during hair and makeup to make her feel comfortable and relaxed. Most photographers I know project their own desire on every model in the same way.

“Till today, 30 years later, my work is influenced by Helmut Newton.”

When you approach a shoot, what’s your creative process like from concept to execution?

Unlike a lot of other photographers, I know before I take my camera in my hand if the photo is black and white or colour...Call it experience or just storytelling.

Like I said before it’s important to have all the photos in your mind before you go on set. The pictures you see here in this issue were in my head 3 weeks before I even took them.

Fashion is about storytelling—how do you make sure your photographs go beyond clothes and capture a narrative?

That is a matter of experience. When I started out I got briefings by clients, model agencies or advertisement agencies to follow their direction.

This is wrong, very wrong. Every woman (no matter if tall, short etc) has her own and individual character. 90 percent of the time I shoot girls I have never met before and will never meet again. So I take my time during makeup to talk to her, to try to find out in a very limited time who she is, what makes her tick.

I try to shoot her personality, not just her body. Shooting a big job is totally different.

In that case, I book the model who fits my story the most. It’s a big difference if you shoot a girl for herself or if you shoot a paid campaign. In any case, if you disrespect the girl you are working with or just see her as an object better cancel the job.

In your opinion, what makes the difference between a technically good photo and an unforgettable fashion image?

You can learn the techniques but you can't learn to be creative. In my opinion a fashion picture becomes unforgettable because the emotion of the model tells you a story, not because the technique is ok. at least not in fashion. If you look at landscapes by Ansel Adams it's a totally different story. There it's only about the technique.

How has British fashion culture influenced your style and perspective behind the lens? It hasn't. As a photographer I never really worked

in England. Also, I'm not really interested in a particular fashion style or area. For me it's always just about creating a photo that I'm happy with.

The fashion industry can be intense—what has been the most challenging moment in your career so far, and how did you overcome it?

I remember when we changed from shooting with film to digital, that for me was a big pill to swallow.

Do you think social media and the digital age have elevated or diluted the craft of fashion photography?

Yes and no. Today, because of the digital age, we are able to manipulate the picture after the shoot in a way that it was impossible during the age or time of film. But try to tell one of these new young so called photographers to put a film into a camera and see what happens. So is it a good thing? I don't know. It is for sure faster to get the results to the client. as they say time is money. But in general I'm not a fan of people who call themself photographer just because they can press a button on a digital camera. Even a monkey gets a good pic after pressing the button a 1000 times. The art is to get the perfect photos after just a few shots.

Many young photographers look up to you—

what advice would you give someone trying to break into this highly competitive industry?

I can’t really recommend anything to new photographers except to take your job seriously. If you think of becoming a photographer just to meet beautiful women, then go and sell your camera. This Job isn’t the right one for you. My recommendation to young photographers is shoot, shoot, shoot and learn from your mistakes and improve.

Outside of fashion, what subjects or themes do you love to photograph?

None.

If you weren’t a photographer, what creative path do you think you might have taken?

It's not an option. I would do it again and again. It's in my blood and DNA.

Finally, what’s next for Marc Evans—are there any upcoming projects or dream collaborations you can share with us?

At this point in my career, I just do and shoot what I really like or inspires me. But right now, I'm concentrating more on having exhibitions at least once per year.

SPRAY GROUND TRAVEL, IDENTITY, AND THE ART OF BOLD DESIGN

When it comes to statement-making accessories, few brands command the streets and airports quite like SPRAYGROUND . Known for its unapologetically bold aesthetic and cult-followed limited editions, the brand has redefined what it means to merge practicality with personality. At the helm is founder James Ferrell , whose newest James First Class x Sprayground collection dives deeper into his own identity, balancing themes of global unity, romance, and individuality with the label’s signature edge.

In this exclusive QP FASHION MAGAZINE interview, James opens up about the inspirations behind the three standout sets — Global Flags , Ruby Red , and First Lady . From his transformative travels in Ghana to his lifelong love of the color red, James shares how emotion, culture, and selfexpression drive his creative process. The result is a collection that is not only wearable but also collectible — a true reflection of his journey as a designer and a traveler determined to leave an impact.

Your newest James First Class x Sprayground collection has three bold sets — Global Flags, Ruby Red, and First Lady. What inspired you to bring even more of your personality into this season’s designs?

SPRAYGROUND is all about making a statement, so I wanted to follow that lead and put parts of myself — things that makeup who I am — into this collection.

Let’s start with Global Flags — how did your travels influence the selection of countries and the design of this set?

Global Flags has a flag from each country I’ve been to, which is a lot because I love to travel. I feel that each country offers beauty and experience, and now everyone can have a piece of that with these bags.

You mentioned that each flag represents a country you’ve personally visited. Was there one particular trip that changed your perspective as a designer?

Ghana. Because of the incredible fabrics and materials I saw while I was there. It was very inspiring to see people using natural resources to create these beautiful things.

Moving to the First Lady set — soft pink, floral tones, yet still powerful. How do you balance romance and strength in your work?

I think the two go hand-in-hand for me. Fashion is an industry that requires both things in a way. It’s about making human connections, but also being a leader. And I think pink is a good representation of those two ideas.

The First Lady pieces feature unique shapes like the pyramid duffle and mini chateau backpack. How do you decide when to experiment with nontraditional silhouettes?

That’s pretty easy. SPRAYGROUND is an outside-the-box company. I’m an outside-thebox guy. It’s only right that the product reflects that.

“ SPRAY-

GROUND

is an outsidethe-box company.”

The Ruby Red set embodies elegance, drama, and individuality. Why is this shade of red so deeply tied to your creative identity?

Red is my favorite color. It’s bold, it’s unique. It represents different things to different people. And it’s the color of SPRAYGROUND. It makes an impact, which is what I always want to do.

Ruby Red also has that glossy world map detail — what’s the story behind incorporating maps into your designs?

I’m always traveling. Anyone who knows me knows there’s always a I’m always on a plane. So literally, I feel connected to the map. But also symbolically, it what connects us all. And that’s very SPRAYGROUND , unifying and worldly.

Many of your designs feel like they’re telling a story. When you create, do you imagine a specific person using your pieces, or is it more about a universal traveler spirit?

It’s both, honestly. I want to picture, you know, people I know and love identifying with these products. But I also want to make sure that anyone can wear them. Anyone can feel represented by them. Your collections often seem to encourage people to stand out. Why is self-expression so central to your design philosophy?

Growing up, it was always a struggle to stand out, to be successful. It was something I always needed and wanted to work towards. So that’s still with me today.

Travel is a major theme in your work — how does being a jet-setter influence the way you approach fashion and accessories?

When you travel as much as I do, you evolve with the times. Not just styles and colors, but practicality too. What kinds of bags are easiest as a carry-on? What’s best for just quick trip? Or a week-long getaway? You have to know how to mix practicality with fashion, so you can make a statement while having everything you need.

SPRAYGROUND is known for its bold, urban edge. How do you merge that energy with your own luxury-travel aesthetic?

I’ve been blessed to be part of such an amazing team. We all are so focused on quality and innovation that we just mesh so well together. It’s a perfect fit.

The Global Flags set subtly sends a message of unity across borders. Was that an intentional statement on culture and diversity?

Absolutely. At SPRAYGROUND , whether at events or on set or just in the office, we’re always surrounded by diversity. I come from a diverse background as well. It’s a strength, and I think where we are at this time in the world, we have to focus on unity.

How do you want people to feel when they’re walking through an airport carrying one of your pieces?

It feels incredible. You know, it’s cool and everything to be like, “Hey, that’s a James First Class Bag. That’s me! I made it!” But it’s also so heartwarming to know that such a labor of love resonates with someone.

Can you take us inside your design process — from initial inspiration to final product — for this summer line?

The main themes I think started from emotions, or things that are central to who I am. Travel, romance, strength, impact. It really starts with emotion and just evolves from there.

You’ve embraced both vibrant statement pieces and softer, romantic ones in the same collection. Do you see yourself as a designer with dual creative personalities?

I try to be as well-rounded as possible. Taking all these sides and putting it into my personality. So

it’s all these things coming together to be James. What challenges did you face bringing these three distinct styles together under one cohesive summer collection?

It’s tricky to narrow down when you have a bunch of ideas. And it’s also really hard to push the envelope just the right amount so it grabs everyone’s attention. It needs to be cool, stylish, wearable, and work for what they need.

Many of your customers treat your bags almost like wearable art. Do you design with collectability in mind?

Yes, I do find a lot of value in collectability. SPRAYGROUND only makes things once. When a product is gone, it’s gone forever. We want to make sure that uniqueness stays as unique as the person who bought it.

If you could see anyone in the world traveling with one of your summer pieces, who would it be and why?

Cristiano Ronaldo. He is one of the most wellrounded travelers due to his success in the sport. So to see him wearing it would be incredible. Looking ahead, do you see your future work continuing to explore the themes of travel and cultural connection?

Absolutely. I want to keep evolving and keep incorporating parts of myself and the world. Finally, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone looking to express their individuality through fashion accessories?

Believing in yourself is the most important thing in the world. Whatever you’re passionate about, when you’re really sure about something, you have to go for it. All in.

“I do find a lot of value in collectability. SPRAYGROUND only makes things once.”
