As a global leader in hospitality education, JWU sets the bar high. Our customizable programs and industry partnerships with major companies like Disney and Marriott make us the go-to destination for those seeking to conquer the hospitality industry.
Today’s consumers are all about experiences rather than services or goods, making the multi-billion dollar hospitality industry a key driver of this fast-growing experience economy. You’ll gain the skills to step into leadership positions across every part of the industry.
EVNT4110 Advanced Event
Production: Special Events
Managing events takes a lot of behindthe-scenes work — you’ll study some of the biggest events around the globe, then explore how to manage event logistics while planning, organizing and executing your own event on campus.
FSM4061 Advanced Food Service Operations Management
In this course, students manage service at one of our fully functional restaurants on campus. You’ll develop menus and marketing, schedule staff, plan production, direct operations and manage fiscal responsibilities for the restaurant.
Founded as a business school in 1914, JWU has always been dedicated to business innovation and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit.
Bring your ideas to life through events like JWU Sharkfest, an annual competition where you can pitch your idea to a panel of judges and win cash prizes to fund your venture. Build brand identities and craft winning campaigns for national advertising competitions with ADTEAM. Or explore the world of finance by managing a portion of JWU’s endowment in the Wildcat Investment Value Fund.
Either way, you’ll develop the fundamental and advanced skills needed to implement strategies, manage organizations and lead like a CEO.
ENTR2030 Pitching & Planning New Ventures
Want to start your own business? This course will teach you how to develop and present a professional business plan with an executive summary, a 30-second elevator pitch and a short presentation to “sell” your concept to investors.
ADVC1021 Influencer Marketing
The rise of social media influencers has made them integral to public relations and marketing. Explore their impact as you learn how to build and maintain complete PR lists, create press releases and develop influencer campaigns.

One of our most distinct features is that we have two campuses: Charlotte, North Carolina, and Providence, Rhode Island. Each city has its own vibe, but both are hubs for entrepreneurship, culinary innovation, tourism and corporate opportunity in their respective regions.
Whichever city you choose, you’ll be at the center of it all. Just steps from campus are endless opportunities for jobs, internships, industry mentors and inspiration. JWU has developed many strong partnerships with businesses around the city, including the sports teams, live entertainment venues, hotels and other businesses in the area.
See for yourself by planning a visit at jwu.edu/visit. Students who visit campus for an in-person tour or admissions event before December 31 of their senior year of high school could be eligible to receive a JWU Visit Grant of up to $5,000 annually, renewable for up to four years while at JWU.
OUR CAMPUSES
Providence, R.I. and Charlotte, N.C.
You’ll have access to cutting-edge learning facilities that simulate realworld environments for you to learn how to manage a real dinner service, brainstorm new business ideas, examine financial portfolios or conduct beverage tastings. Examples include:
Fashion Merchandising & Retailing students use this space to actively practice the art and strategy behind effective visual merchandising. The lab simulates a clothing store with a display window, clothing racks and mannequins for students to fill and stage with merchandise.
The Charlotte Campus has several beverage labs dedicated to different areas of the beverage industry. The Culinary Arts Beverage Lab mimics a bar setting for students to learn how to manage bar service, while the Mixology & Craft Brewing Lab and the Sensory Beverage Lab offer the perfect settings to conduct tastings and learn about the history and taste profiles of a variety of beverages.

A prime example of our impact on the local hospitality scene is The Beatrice Hotel in Providence. This luxury hotel’s general manager, operations manager, guest services supervisor and night auditor are all JWU hospitality alumni. With a leadership team who knows the power of a JWU education, it’s no wonder they actively seek to hire our alumni and current students.
“We’ve always had quite a few JWU alumni and students working for us. They’re passionate about the industry and they signed up for this to be their career, which is invaluable. You can feel that when they walk in for an interview.”
Jennifer Curtin ’13, General Manager of The Beatrice Hotel
