Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

Sunspots were “contiguous to the surface of the solar body, where they are continually generated and dissolved, just like clouds around the earth, and are carried around by the sun itself, which turns on itself in a lunar month with a revolution similar [in direction] to those others of the planets.”

Humphry Marshall (1722-1801)
Hope you find Marshall's drawings. Brattle in Boston in 1694, Robie in Boston in 1722, and Winthrop in Cambridge in 1739 made all together about 9-10 total sunspot observations, but no drawings that I can recall. (Doug Hoyt, May 12, 2021)

sunspot drawing has now been found by Hayakawa et al. (2022)
1739 April 19th at Boston. Walking on the Common a little before sunset, the air being so hazy that I was able to look on the sun, I plainly saw with my naked eye a very large and remarkable spot. Its shape was oblong and the length of it was perpendicular to the horizon. I observed it several minutes till the sun was actually set. It was likewise seen by several persons in the company of Messrs. Skinner and Read. The next day, Friday, coming back to Cambridge, I looked at the sun with an 8 foot telescope from 6 A.M. till sunset and discovered not only the same spot which I saw before but several others in his disk. They appeared something in this manner in the telescope which inverted them. [Drawing of April 20, see. facsimile]. That cluster of spots marked A was what I saw at Boston and which appeared then like one large spot. That at B appeared very much like the thick column of smoke which comes out of a furnace. At night a considerable aurora borealis.
Saturday April 21. Cloudy.
Sunday April 22. They appeared thus. [Drawing of April 22, see facsimile]. 15' after n at 60°27’.
I am since informed that several persons in the country saw them likewise with their naked eye, particularly some at Medford and the ferrymen at the Charlestown ferry.

Marshall’s

I have sent thee my observations for twelve month and a few Days that I have made in the Sun’s Disk respecting the Spots that appear thereon, having Drew a circle With a pencil to represent the Suns Circumferrence and then with my Pencil Dilineated the Spots both in Magnitude and Position as near the truth as I Could as they Pas’d, in appearance from East to West. I have not time to Give thee my thoughts respecting them at present. (Humphry Marshall to Ben Franklin, November 27, 1771)

The Observations I communicated to our Astronomers of the Royal Society, who are much pleas’d with them, and hand them about from one to another, so that I have had little Opportunity of examining them myself, they not being yet return’d to me. Here are various Opinions about the Solar Spots. Some think them vast Clouds of Smoke and Soot arising from the consuming Fuel on the Surface; which Clouds at length take fire again on their Edges, consuming and daily diminishing till they totally disappear. Others [think] them Spots of the Surface in which the Fire has been extinguished, and which by degrees are rekindled.
It is however remarkable that tho’ large Spots are seen gradually to become small ones, no one has observ’d a small Spot gradually to become a large one; at least I do not remember to have met with such an Observation. If this be so, it should seem that they are suddenly form’d of the full Size: And
perhaps if there were more such constant and diligent Observers as you, some might happen to be observing at the Instant such a Spot was formed, when the Appearances might give some Ground of Conjecture by what means they were formed.

Willie,
Thank you for your enquiry regarding Humphry Marshall and sending us this interesting information. My recollection is that Humphry Marshall's sunspot drawings do exist and I've seen a reproduction perhaps five or six years ago. I do remember being disappointed as they were little more than a circle with three or four small random dots. I do appreciate their potential significance for you and will search our records. I will get back to you if /when we can find anything of HM's sunspot illustrations.

Regards, Adrian

Maunder Minimum (1645-1715)

“How about the weather? If you’d like to know more about global weather than is provided by the gladiators for hire on both sides, and you remember that global climate has been here, quite variable, for a long time all by itself, with names like Miocene, Pliocene and Pleistocene to adorn it, and hint that it may not always be the same, you might try The Maunder Minimum And the Variable Sun-Earth Connection by Willie [Soon] and Steven Yaskell …” — Kary Mullis (Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 1993), July 25, 2006

Soon also has fans among scientists who tend to share his views. Freeman Dyson, a respected figure at the Institute for Advanced Study, in Princeton, whose turn in recent years toward climate skepticism stunned many of his peers, defended Soon’s work.
“The whole point of science is to question accepted dogmas,’’ Dyson said in an e-mail to the Globe. “For that reason, I respect Willie Soon as a good scientist and a courageous citizen.’’

America has our own Sun’s chair too

The Rising Sun Armchair
(George Washington's Chair) Rising Sun Armchair

George Washington used this chair for nearly three months of the Constitutional Convention's continuous sessions. Benjamin Franklin is credited with immortalizing the chair at the close of the convention, observing:
I have often looked at that picture behind the president without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting. But now at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising and not a setting sun.
This is the most well-known version of the sentiments regarding the sun chair, but this well polished version only dates to the 1987 State of the Union address by President Ronald Reagan, who was paraphrasing James Madison, who in turn was reporting the commentary he heard Franklin express. Human CO2 not detectible in atmosphere
Temperature records heavily adjusted and without adjustments, there’s no warming
Total energy from Sun (TSI) is hard to measure and IPCC cherry picks one way out of many—not Science.
Soon & Connolly proven that there are at least 27 ways that could account for some or all global warming.
It’s not the CO2

Temperature causes CO2 NOT the other way around.
CO2 does NOT stay in the atmosphere for long 3 or 4 years NOT 100 to 10,000!!!!
COVID lockdown reduced CO2 emissions a lot, but it didn’t show up in Mauna Loa atmospheric CO2 Curve
Models overestimate warming by 3-5x
