The Kamloops downtown will be alive with excitement as the annual Santa Claus Parade comes to town!

The parade takes place this Sunday, Nov. 27. Festivities begin in the Kamloops Square on Seymour Street with Wake up Santa at 4:10 p.m., followed by the parade at 4:30 p.m.

This year’s theme is Pyjama Party. Everyone young and old is invited to show up in their coziest PJs and join Kamloops’ biggest pyjama party! All participants will be illuminated for the evening parade and are encouraged to be in pyjamas as well.

CP Holiday Train

The Canadian Pacific (CP) Holiday Train will roll into KAMLOOPS Dec. 16 at 4:45 p.m. on north side of Sandman Centre in the rear parking lot. Other stops include: C!"#$: Dec. 16, 2:35 p.m. – north side of Shuswap Avenue across from the RCMP building. S"%&'": Dec. 16, 7 p.m. – Savona Access Rd. & Savona St. A#!()&*+: Dec. 16, 8:35 p.m. – CP building on Railway Ave. between 5th & 6th St. Lytton – Dec. 17, 11:15 a.m. – CP TMS building on Station Rd. The CPHolidayTrain is traditionally one of the most important fundraisers for the Kamloops Food Bank. This year’s performers for the region are Mackenzie Porter & Virginia to Vegas. The CP Holiday Train shows are free to attend, but attendees are asked to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation if they’re able.

Blazers earn 3 of 4 points on the weekend

Logan Stankoven had a goal and two assists while Fraser Minten had a goal and an assist as the Blazers won 2-1 in Langley last Friday night.

Minten opened the scoring 13:06 into the game with a power play goal. The Giants tied the game 9:52 into the middle frame with a shorthanded goal. Caedan Bankier answered back with what turned out to be the game-winning goal 1:20 later. Then Stankoven scored the insurance goal – a shorthanded goal – 3:02 later to make it 3-1 going into the second intermission. Kaden Hammell scored his fourth goal of the season with 8:52 remaining to give the Blazers the 4-1 win. Dylan Ernst stopped 21 of 22 shots he faced in goal for the win.

The following evening, Sat. Nov. 19, the Blazers crossed the border to take on the Winterhawks in Portland.

1ST 6:33: Matthew Seminoff opened the scoring 6:33 into the game. Then Daylan Kuefler scored on the power play 7:20 later to give the Blazers a 2-0

lead. The Winterhawks scored on the power play to make it 2-1 after 20 minutes of head-to-head action. Just 2:33 into the middle frame the Winterhawks scored the tying goal to eventually send the game into overtime after a scoreless third period. In OT, it was the Winterhawks that eked out the win with a goal 4:45 into the extra frame to take the 3-2 win.

Rookie netminder Michael Schnattinger stopped 41 of the 44 shots he faced in the OT loss.

The Blazers were in Kennewick, WA, to take on the Tri-City Americans. Game results were not available at press time.

The Blazers host the Moose Jaw Warriors at Sandman Centre Fri. Nov. 25. The puck drops at 7 p.m. They then travel north to Prince George to take on the Cougars Saturday night, Nov. 26. The Blazers return to their home ice Nov. 30 to take on the Regina Pats in a Wednesday evening game at Sandman Centre. Face off is at 7 p.m.

Inspiredbythepre-gamehonouringoftheNationalUSportChampionTRU Men’s SoccerTeam the Kamloops Storm jumped out to anearly2-0leadonapairofgoals scored by Kyle Sanford over the North Okanagan Knights. That lead would hold up for two periods. In the third Kamloops ran in to penalty trouble and the

Knights would score two power play goals to send the game into overtime and ultimately a shootout.

Kamloops would score on one of three chances in the shootout while the Knights would score twice in two chances for the win.

The Storm were 1-for-6 on the power play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.

Cody Creasy took the loss in net stopping 30 of 32 shots he faced.

After giving up an early goal the host Kamloops Storm scored the next six goals enroute to a 6-1 win over the Kelowna Chiefs last Saturday Night as the Storm recognized Mental Health Awareness as a game night theme.

Peyton Kelly had two goals and

two assists to lead the way while Harrison Ewert, Cole Senum, Sam Lewis and DawsonThomas, with his first KIJHL goal, all potted markers for the home squad.

Kamloops outshot Kelowna 3914 on the night and went 2-for-8 on the power play while killing off all five chances on the PK. Creasy got the win in goal.

The Storm are in Summerland Fri. Nov. 25, to take on the Steam. They then return home to play host to the Sicamous Eagles Sat. Nov. 26. Three members of the Kamloops Storm participated last Sunday in the inaugural BC Hockey Conference (BCHC) Prospects Game in Chilliwack. The 2022 BCHC Prospects Game saw the top young players from the Kootenay International Junior Hockey LeagueandPacificJuniorHockey League face off in front of Junior Acoachesandscouts.OwenAura, Ryan Larsen, and Jake PhillipsWatts represented the Storm at the game and all had a good showing.

Christmas Amalgamated is in a new location. This year Christmas Amalgamated is set up in the Wings Above Kamloops Building (former Soccer Quest), 1224C 8th St., in the back offWindsorAve. (watch for the ChristmasAmalgamated sign).
