LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT ERIN DEEGAN CONNOR

With fall and winter under our belts, we are enjoying springtime at the JLC and are getting closer to our 100th Anniversary this fall!

First, I want to thank everyone who attended our Modern Mountain Measures fundraiser in the fall! We had a delicious meal at 1010 Bridge and were able collect many items for the NICU at CAMC Women’s and Children’s and raise $3,415 for our community efforts

At our Holiday party in December we gathered laundry supplies for the Fall 2022 Provisional Class’s project, which benefitted the West Side Family Resource Center. Through this effort we were able to provide them with enough supplies for 25-30 families to do a load of laundry each week for a year!

We continued to spread the love as winter progressed, with members donating to help those who were displaced by the Regal Apartments fire. Members also decorated for the Gabriel Project’s Valentine’s

Day Fundraiser We also just participated in the Little Black Dress Initiative, where members wore the same little black dress (or other item) for a week to illustrate the restrictions poverty places on choices, opportunities, and access to resources Through this we were able to raise more than $2,500 for our Signature Project Backpack Buddies! Thank you to all who participated and donated!

To wrap up February, members and sustainers attended a wine tasting at Capitol Market’s Wine and Cheese Shop, where we sampled four amazing wines hand-selected by Ted Armbrecht, learned all sort of wine facts, and enjoyed each other’s company.

1920s-themed murder mystery party! Awards were given for solving the mystery, (as well as the most in character and most dramatic "death"

Now, our spring fundraiser, “All Decked Out: Trivia Through the Decades!” is almost here! Join us on April 27 at Rock City Cake Co for for this fun evening of trivia from the 80’s to the 2010’s. Come decked out in an outfit from your favorite decade to participate in a costume contest and be sure to keep your eyes open for the silent auction! We also got a large group of members together for a
