LETTER

The 2022-2023 League year is well underway, already with successful fundraisers under our belt and a handful of meetings and membership activities We are all very excited to be back out in the community participating in in-person activities together again!

In August, on a hot sunny day, we held All Aboard! The turnout was great, and we raised $1,500 for the Ronald McDonald House Thank you to all our members for making this event a success!

At our September General Membership Meeting we heard from the Ronald McDonald House in the lovely new downtown branch of the Kanawha County Public Library For a fun membership activity in September, we went to Buff City Soap and had a blast making bath bombs together!

Fall is always a busy time for all of us, and busy we have been! Before the Modern Mountain Measures fundraiser, we worked hard to spread the word, cross Ts, and dot I’s to ensure this

event was a success. Our October meeting was a hands-on one, held at the United Way, where we brought dozens of sock donations for “Socktober” and separated into small groups to tackle several organization and cleaning projects for the United Way.

We have participated in several events around town this fall, including Oktoberwest on the West Side, the Market Mixer at Capitol Market, and the Mac and Cheese cookoff benefitting the Childhood Language Center, where member Kim Vigneau made some amazing mac and cheese We have also maintained our monthly dinners at the Ronald McDonald House and our Backpack Buddies bag stuffings

With the holidays quickly approaching, we have even more amazing things in store. From hosting a children’s craft table at Coonskin’s tree lighting to partnering with Faith in Action to wrap gifts for seniors, we are continuing to stay busy helping our community. Our annual drive for the CAMC NICU is underway as well, collecting preemie and newborn onesies, rattles, baby books and animal pacifiers. These donations will bring some joy to families undergoing a difficult time 2023 is just around the corner and soon we will be announcing details about our 100th Anniversary celebration! We have many wonderful plans in store to celebrate the incredible milestone of 100 years serving the Charleston community.

AN EVENING WITH THE UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL WV

Our members enjoyed having a GMM at the United Way! We brought socks to donate and helped organize the group's closet of winter donations so that they can help keep our community safe and warm this winter. The United Way can efficiently provide them to those in need close to home!

Thank you to all who participated in the Junior League's fall fundraiser, the second annual Modern Mountain Measures dinner! This partnership with Chef Paul Smith at 1010 Bridge is a prix fixe dinner based on recipes from past Junior League cookbooks! At the dinner, we collected supply donations of baby onesies, animal pacifiers, rattles, and baby books for the children at the CAMC Women's and Children's NICU
