WELCOMETOPLANETWOMAN

Miss. Woman began their drag journey in 2023, bringing a rich background in performing arts and theater to the stage. After moving to New York, they sought a community of queer artists and found inspiration at local drag shows. Encouraged to try it themselves, they discovered a vibrant, loving community they cherish deeply. You can catch Miss. Woman performing at bars all around Brooklyn, including Purgatory, Pink Metal, and C’mon Everybody.

In 1970, the first Pride March was held, marking a shift from resistance to celebration and visibility This event set the stage for annual Pride Parades worldwide, celebrating LGBTQ+ identities and advocating for equality and rights Pride Parades have since become powerful symbols of community, resilience, and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights

The Pride Parade originated from the Stonewall Riots of 1969, a pivotal moment in LGBTQ+ history when patrons of the Stonewall Inn in New York City On June 28th, 1969, patrons of the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village, fought back against a police raid, igniting days of protests Frustrated by ongoing harassment and discrimination, patrons resisted, marking the beginning of a series of protests that would catalyze the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement

Among the prominent figures in these riots were Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, two transgender activists who played critical roles in the uprising. Their activism and bravery helped ignite the fight for LGBTQ+ rights

FROM:RIOTTO REVOLOUTION

Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, two pivotal figures in the riots, played crucial roles in this historic uprising Johnson, a Black transgender woman and drag performer, was known for her vibrant personality and deep commitment to activism Rivera, a Latina transgender woman, was similarly dedicated, often speaking out against the marginalization of transgender individuals within the broader movement.

During the Stonewall Riots, both Johnson and Rivera were on the front lines, confronting police and rallying the community to resist oppression. Their courage and resilience became symbols of the fight against systemic discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those who were most marginalized.

Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera’s contributions to the movement were profound. They not only participated in the riots that sparked a revolution but also worked tirelessly to support the most vulnerable members of the community Their legacy is honored each year during Pride, as their pioneering spirit and dedication to justice continue to inspire new generations of activists

Their activism during and after the riots laid the groundwork for greater visibility and advocacy within the community. In 1970, the first Pride March was held to commemorate the Stonewall Riots, transforming a moment of resistance into a celebration of identity and solidarity. Johnson and Rivera continued their activism by cofounding the Street Transgender Action Revolutionaries (STAR), supporting homeless transgender youth and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights

Being labeled “fruity” is about more than just colorful outfits and festive parades; it’s about proudly showcasing our true selves. It’s an invitation, to embrace every shade of our identity, and to encourage others to do the same. By reclaiming this phrase, we’re not only celebrating our individuality but also standing up against the forces that seek to diminish it.

Throughout Pride Month, we hope everyone to explored what being “ Fruity” means to them. Whether it’s through art, fashion, or simply being your authentic self, let your true colors shine.

Celebrate with friends, support local LGBTQ+ businesses, and uplift one another with love and acceptance.

In this spirit of joy and resilience, remember that being “So Fruity” is about embracing all aspects of who you are boldly, unapologetically, and with pride. This month, let’s celebrate the beautiful spectrum of our community, spread love, and remind the world that our diversity is our strength. So go ahead, be fruity, be fabulous, and most importantly, be you!

Coming out is a deeply personal journey, and for many, it’s a moment of liberation. It’s about sheddingy the weight of secrecy and embracing authenticity In a world where acceptance can sometimes feel scarce, choosing to live openly can be a powerful act of self-love.

The Importance of Visibility

Visibility matters When we see others living their truth, it reminds us that we are not alone Every story shared adds to the tapestry of our community, fostering understanding and compassion. It challenges stereotypes and opens minds, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond individual experiences.

Support and Community

It’s essential to remember that support is out there Whether through friends, LGBTQ+ organizations, or online communities, finding people who understand your journey can make all the difference. These connections provide a sense of belonging and remind us that we’re part of something larger.

Embracing who you are is a powerful, transformative act It invites you to step into a life that is vibrant, real, and unapologetically yours. So, take that step, tell your story, and encourage others to do the same Together, we can create a world where everyone feels free to be who they truly are.

Remember, your story matters It can be the beacon of hope someone else needs to see Keep shining!

INTRODUCING AMOURIEDWARDS

Amouri has been passionate about music since the age of four, when they first began taking piano lessons. This early start laid the foundation for a lifelong love of music, and they quickly developed a knack for creating melodies and lyrics. During high school, a pivotal moment came when Amouri performed anoriginalsongatanevent, ignitingtheir desiretopursueacareerinmusic.

Their approach to songwriting is deeply personal and introspective. Believing that creativity flows best from a balanced mindset, Amouri has developed a ritual of journaling before diving into the music-making process. This practice helps clear their mind and focus their thoughts, allowing authentic emotions to surface in their songwriting.

With a degree in 2D animation, Amouri also finds inspiration in visual art, often sketching and drawing as part of their creative routine. This combination of music and art allows Amouri to approach songwriting with a unique perspective, blending vivid imagery with heartfelt lyrics.

Through their work, Amouri aims to connect with listeners on a deep level, creating an inclusive space where everyone feels seen and heard. Their journey is a testament to the power of authenticity and the courage to embrace one’s true self.

With each song, Amouri continues to make a significant impact in the music scene, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the queer experience while inspiring others to live authentically.

This July, Amouri’s thrilled to release two new singles. The first is a collaboration with a great friend and producer, showcasing a fusion of their talents and a shared musical vision. The second single, titled “Stop the Playin’,” is a solo project that highlights Amouri’s growth as an artist and their ability to capture raw emotions in their music.
