REPORT to the COMMUNITY
WE HEARD YOU IGNITE BROWARD,
The Jewish Federation of Broward County was proud to power “Ignite Broward,” a community-wide listening journey that engaged more than 1,400 community members who shared their vision for the future of our Broward Jewish community.
Led by Board members Rachel Antevy and Andy Rosen, we recruited 50 Community Connectors who represent the diversity of our Jewish community. With the support of our consultants at Insyte Partners, we led listening forums, hosted home and office gatherings, interviewed Jewish residents of Broward County of all backgrounds, and provided a variety of ways for people to offer their input via our website and social media.
The central question guiding our journey—and woven into each listening opportunity—was: “What are your aspirations for Broward’s Jewish community, now and for the future?”
We are grateful to those who actively participated and shared their voices, ideas, opinions, hopes, and dreams for our community. The information we gathered is invaluable, and the aspirations we are now defining have the potential to be transformational for our community.
This Report to the Community highlights key findings including the “Bold Aspirational Statements” that will help inform our Jewish community’s funding and program development decisions.
Our Federation’s core mission of serving Jews in Broward, Israel, and around the world remains critical. Yet, we heard loud and clear that this community is hungry for more connection, and looking for all Jewish organizations to partner on creating a community that is vibrant and intentional about reaching people where they are, in ways that make people feel appreciated.
As we act on what we learned through Ignite Broward, the Federation will lead the way. However, these aspirations were created by the entire community, and it will be up to all of us to bring them to life. We must all work together to take ownership and co-create Jewish life in Broward that is joyful, meaningful, and relevant for ALL of us, no matter where we live or how we live our Jewish lives.

WHAT WE HEARD

Several clear themes emerged from the Ignite Broward conversations, painting a picture of a passionate community eager to strengthen itself from within and beyond.
HIGHLIGHTS OF KEY FINDINGS
Community Unity & Collaboration
There is a widespread call to break down silos between organizations and congregations. Many envision a more unified Jewish community with stronger partnerships and Federation serving as a convener to bring diverse groups together.
Engagement & Inclusion
Participants want to engage Jews of all ages and backgrounds, including youth, young families, and those who feel marginal or unaffiliated. Creative outreach ideas were shared to make Jewish life more welcoming and accessible.
Support for Vulnerable Populations
The community emphasized caring for those in need—seniors, Holocaust survivors, individuals facing economic hardship, etc. Improved outreach to isolated seniors (in condos, assisted living facilities) and tackling food insecurity through innovative means (like mobile food distributions) were among the suggestions.

HIGHLIGHTS OF KEY FINDINGS
Jewish Identity & Pride
Strengthening Jewish identity, education, and solidarity emerged as a priority. People expressed a desire to “own our Jewishness when engaging beyond our community”—to be proud and open as Jews in schools, workplaces, and public life. In the wake of recent events, there was a call for continued support for Israel and combating antisemitism, to ensure Jews in Broward feel safe and proud.
Communication & Awareness
A common theme was improved communication about existing services, programs, and opportunities. Many participants conceded they were unaware of existing community resources. They urged a more effective central communications hub and marketing effort to showcase the vibrancy of Jewish life and help people access programs easily.
This report organizes these findings—and the recommendations for actions to address them in a positive, collaborative way—around seven Bold Aspirational Statements that reflect the participants’ shared vision for our Broward Jewish community.
THE JEWISH FEDERATION of BROWARD COUNTY

The Jewish Federation of Broward County proudly powered Ignite Broward.
Dedicated to enhancing Jewish life locally and globally, the Federation mobilizes leadership and financial resources to care for Jews everywhere, respond to crises, and shape our Jewish future.
Our unique network of organizations collaborates to address needs that no single entity could manage alone.
This past year alone, we invested $19.5 million in more than 100 programs to support the vulnerable, ensure community safety, stand with Israel, foster Jewish engagement, build inter-community bridges, and respond to crises.
Guided by the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and tzedakah (charity and social justice), we lead efforts to identify issues, foster collaboration, and find innovative solutions for Broward, Israel, and beyond.
As the philanthropic heart of Broward’s Jewish community, we will lead the community in bringing Ignite Broward’s aspirations to life through four key roles:
FUNDER
CONVENER
CONNECTOR
INNOVATOR
Rooted in the idea of collective responsibility, we raise and distribute millions annually to address pressing needs.
We unite diverse Jewish voices around common causes.
We leverage relationships to swiftly and effectively make an impact.
Insights learned through Ignite Broward will inform decision-making, deepen our impact, and create innovative new opportunities for our community. We look forward to embracing new ways of working together to meet our community’s evolving needs.

CHANGE STARTS NOW

Using the Bold Aspirational Statements detailed on the next pages, the Federation has begun an Implementation Process to mobilize our community to act on what we heard through Ignite Broward.
The Jewish Federation leads the way, but these aspirations were created by the entire community, and will require participation from our entire community to bring them to life.
To operationalize and prioritize key strategies that emerged from Ignite Broward, Task Forces for each Bold Aspirational Statement will be created. Comprised of a lay Chair, professional staff, community members and content experts, each Task Force will study their Bold Aspirational Statement, identify potential strategies to address key issues, explore best practices, define financial considerations and formally propose an action plan for consideration by the Board of Directors.
To accelerate the impact of our Task Forces, the Jewish Federation of Broward County will be providing a total of $500,000 in preliminary funding for Task Forces to begin impacting their areas. Once the Task Forces complete their work, more extensive funding to implement on strategies may be made available by the Board of Directors.
We will continue to expand our strategies by learning from proven models in Jewish communities around the world. Along the way, we’ll test new ideas and pilot initiatives that bring us closer to a more vibrant, connected Broward. As this journey continues, we will update you on the progress of each Task Force and the Bold Aspirations.

making change happen

OUR SHARED VISION

The Jewish Federation of Broward County stands at the center of our community—like the center of a Magen David—bringing strength, direction, and purpose to every point that radiates outward. Each of our Ignite Broward aspirational statements forms one of the points of the star, reflecting our bold vision: meeting people where they are, fostering collaboration, celebrating Jewish identity, connection to Israel, ensuring safety, investing in youth, celebrating belonging and creating inclusive spaces for all.
At the heart of it all is our mission: to mobilize human and financial resources to care for those in need, strengthen Jewish life, and advance the unity and continuity of the Jewish people—here in Broward, in Israel, and around the world. Federation will lead the way forward—but it will take the strength, vision, and partnership of our entire community to bring Ignite Broward to life. Just as every point of the Magen David is essential, every individual and organization has a role to play.
Together, we will transform shared aspirations into lasting impact.
BOLD ASPIRATIONAL STATEMENTS

These statements reflect the vibrant future we envision for Jewish Broward.

Reaching Out
Meeting people where they are
Jewish life in Broward isn’t confined to a single location, population, or program—it flourishes wherever people are. Every Jew, regardless of background, language, neighborhood, or stage of life, finds belonging in our vibrant community. Through intentional outreach, tailored experiences, and lifelong Jewish learning, we bring connection directly to individuals, making participation seamless, accessible, and transformative. Our cutting-edge educational programs, leadership initiatives, and enriching cultural experiences ignite Jewish connection and power our collective future.

Stronger Together
The power of partnership
Jewish life thrives when we work together. Collaboration is at the core of our strength, uniting synagogues, organizations, and dedicated individuals to amplify impact and support one another. Guided by our tradition that all Jews are responsible for one another, we foster partnerships that enhance social services, cultural initiatives, and community-building efforts. When we join forces, we create something far greater than the sum of our parts.

Living Jewishly Loving Israel

In Broward, we safeguard our community to ensure that every Jew can celebrate their faith with confidence, pride and without fear. Our identity is rich and enduring and rooted in tradition, community and a profound connection to Israel. This bond is deeply personal and woven into our lives through immersive trips, interactions with Israeli and Jewish educators and meaningful dialogue. As antisemitism rises throughout the country, we empower our community—especially our youth—to be strong and engage thoughtfully and respectfully. Jewish life in Broward is not just being sustained—it is thriving.

Fueling Our Future
Empowering the next generation of Jewish leaders
Throughout their lives, Jews in Broward have a dynamic, experiential, and inspiring space to learn, grow, and belong. Educators ensure learning remains relevant, leadership training is robust, and Jewish identity is deeply rooted. From early childhood education, to teen engagement, Israel experiences, and college campus programming, we foster a lasting sense of connection and purpose. By empowering young people, we instill ownership and confidence, shaping the Jewish leaders of tomorrow.

Guided by tikkun olam and collective responsibility, it provides a safety net for babies to bubbies, ensuring that our most vulnerable are cared for, our community is engaged, and every Jew has access to meaningful experiences.

CHARTING OUR WORK

There is tremendous opportunity in each of the Bold Aspirational Statements. To actualize the vision of Ignite Broward, the Federation is committed to working with our Task Forces to identify best strategies and provide funding for implementation.
As we move forward with the Implementation Phase of Ignite Broward, each Task Force will study the data that corresponds to their area of focus to identify best practices, define optimal strategies to tackle the identified issues, and align the solutions with a financial proposal that will be presented to the Board of Directors for funding.
To ground our work, we are using the following tools to analyze each of the Bold Aspirational Statements:
