SERVING THE MID-WILLAMETTE VALLEY EQUIP - ENCOURAGE - UNITE in truth

Reviving Oregon's Amazing Roots

By Pastor Aaron Auer

Rev. Jason Lee First Missonary in Oregon Colonizer 1834 - 1843

On April 16, 2007, I found myself at the State Capitol in Salem at a rally with approximately 2000 people in attendance. Being a pastor, I was asked to pray. I preached, prayed and prophesied from the Capitol steps for the greatest revival ever to hit our great state. For the first time, I focused on 2 statues on the Capitol grounds. One is the Circuit Rider statue about 100 paces off the east steps of the Capitol, and the other, 40 paces from it, is the Jason Lee statue. Jason Lee was Oregon’s first missionary. Both of these men have Bibles in their hands. I was astonished to discover that from that day, my ministry and life would forever change. I came to find out, Oregon is rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ, His word, His Spirit and the love of our God! In 1831, four chiefs sent out from the Nez Perce tribe traveled 3000 miles afoot in search of the “Book of Heaven.” In 1834, in response to this “Macedonian call of the West,” the church sent the best they had -- Jason Lee and his soul-winning ministry team of five. Together, they established

the “Oregon Mission” just north of Salem. Out of the mission to win the Indians to the Lord, was birthed the Oregon Institute, which became Willamette University. The Church, school and Oregon’s provisional government were established and led by these pioneer missionaries. Our roots are inscribed on the circuit rider monument (The centerpiece of Oregon):

On February 14, 2009, Pastor Aaron Auer addressed Oregon's House of Representatives and a packed visitor’s gallery which had assembled to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Oregon statehood. His message concluded with the invocation offered before the Oregon House of Representatives on Oregon’s 50th anniversary by Reverend William R. Bishop, a pioneer of 1852. This invocation appealed

to God for guidance over our state officers, Governor, administrators, and judges, “… that, through them, our laws may be administered in the fear of God”. That invocation concluded with, “God of love, keep the men and women of this generation in Thy fear, so that they may do even more and better work than their

“Commemorating the labors and achievements of the ministers of the gospel, who as circuit riders became friends, counselors and evangels to pioneers on every American frontier.”

We must reclaim our Christian heritage, revive our spiritual roots, and continue in the stead of these Oregon Trailblazers (the preaching statement). In June and July this summer, we have scheduled a tour to take this message of R.O.A.R. to all 36 counties in Oregon, reading a declaration from all the county courthouse steps. Jason Lee said, “My main object I have kept in view for the glory of God is the salvation of souls.”

DAVE SAYS HEADING FOR AN EMERGENCY Dear Dave, My husband has Hepatitis C, and at this point his only option is a liver transplant within the next two years. We make about $70,000 a year, but we also have $25,000 in debt. He’s still able to work right now, and we have health insurance, but how should we begin preparing for the operation and medical bills? Nikki Dear Nikki, God bless you guys. This is going to be really tough. You’re going to face a lengthy loss of income, and sky-high medical bills even if everything goes well. I’m really sorry you have to go through this. Life can be hard enough without major health issues knocking you over. The good news is that there’s something you can do about all this, and it all starts

with saving. First, set aside an emergency fund of three to six months of expenses as quickly as you can. In your case, I’d recommend leaning toward the six month side, because you’ll be facing a real emergency pretty soon. Second, you guys need to have no life for the next year or two, and get very serious about paying off as much debt as possible after you get your emergency fund in place. I’m talking about following a very strict budget, and living on rice and beans. Bottom line? The less debt you have, the better off you’ll be. Wouldn’t you love to be debt-free and have six months of expenses in the bank before they perform this operation? You can do it, if it becomes important enough to make it priority one. - Dave

Is Your Driveway Being Anointed With Oil? These Tips Could Save You Big.

Unless your driveway is ill, (in such cases you need to lay hands on it as well), it may save your life, not to mention big money, to stop driving until you know what’s leaking. I shudder to think, (transmission pun), of the times people thought it was an oil leak or a transmission leak and their brakes went out because it was a brake fluid leak. How can you tell when all you see is an oily mark? Underneath the car in the anointed area, place a white plastic sheet, like a kitchen garbage bag. Also, place some stones or something to keep it from blowing away. Do this the last thing at night. The white plastic allows you to see the color of the fluid, which is critical to determining its source. The plastic will prevent the oil from seeping into anything and you can see how much is leaking. The next morning, check your plastic before you move your car. Identify the color, the location, quantity, and texture by placing some of the fluid on your finger. Clear fluid (always smell clear fluids for fuel leaks) If it smells like gas, you guessed it, it’s gas or diesel (if you own a diesel vehicle). Fuel leak! Use Extreme Caution! Strongly consider calling a tow truck!! My advice unless you really know what you’re doing. With an oily texture, then it’s probably brake fluid, or in some cases hydraulic clutch fluid. Caution: Until you know for sure, don’t drive anywhere your brakes or clutch may fail! Look carefully to see if the leak lines up with the firewall of the car or near one of the wheels. If it’s under the firewall, it could be either brake or hydraulic clutch fluid. If near the wheels, then it’s probably brake fluid. Get it fixed before you drive again! You may want to call a wrecker to be safe. In some cases it can be power steering fluid, you might check that as well, (see power steering under red fluids). Red fluid How does it smell and how thick is it? If it’s thick and smells burned, and located behind the firewall, then no doubt its automatic transmission fluid. How much has leaked would tell you if it’s safe to drive. If it’s very little, then check your transmission fluid level per your owner’s manual (don’t just check the dip stick). Most vehicles must be in park with the engine running and warm to be checked properly. Check your owner’s manual on selecting the right ATF (Automatic Transmission fluid), as there are dozens of varieties and it’s critical to the life of your transmission that you use

the right one. If it’s thinner and close to the front wheels, then check your power steering fluid level. In most cases, it just has a dip stick and doesn’t need to be running. If the level is low, don’t drive before you have it at the right level. CAUTION: Your ability to steer may be severely hampered! Again, check your owner’s manual to insure you use the right power steering fluid. Don’t risk problems by using transmission fluid. Green or Orange Fluid Engine coolant or Anti-freeze is green or orange (usually) and smells like maple syrup. The location of the spot on the plastic will help determine the source of the coolant leak. This one can also leave you stranded, or worse case, overheated with a blown head gasket or can even crack the head or engine block. Check your coolant level. If you need to add coolant, be very careful and follow your owner’s manual on selecting the proper coolant for your vehicle. CAUTION: Mixing different coolants can cause severe engine damage. Again, if it leaked more than 1/2 pint, I would call a tow truck, unless you know what you’re doing. Brownish Color Oil Under the engine area, you guessed it, it’s probably engine oil. Again check the dip stick before driving. CAUTION: driving your car low on oil can cause severe engine damage. Check your owner’s manual for the proper oil as well. Under the transmission area, if it’s a manual transmission, it will probably be very thick and smell really bad. If there is quite a bit of leakage, be very cautious. Manual transmissions don’t carry much gear oil and they may freeze up from friction if the oil is low. Under the real axle, it’s probably differential gear oil. CAUTION: Limited slip differentials take a special fluid. Check your owner’s manual. Some of the largest shop bills I have ever seen have been from people either using the wrong or contaminated fluids or fuels. Check your owner’s manual before replacing or adding fluids. If you don’t have an owner’s manual, get one. They are not expensive and available at the dealer of the brand you own. Wrecking yards stock them from the older vehicles and have a network to help you find one. Many a $1000 shop bill could have been saved by a $7 owner’s manual.

Seven Myths About Lower Back Pain By Dr. David L. Phillips Lower back pain is common…more common than the common cold. 8 out of every 10 people have had a back problem, or will have a back problem sometime in his or her life. Consequently, when it's your turn it seems as if everyone has an opinion and some advice to offer. Sometimes this unasked advice can be very helpful. On the other hand, sometimes this advice can actually be harmful, even damaging. Age-old wisdom about back pain abounds. Some of these so-called common sense notions have long since been discredited by research, observation and study. In this article, I’d like to discuss the most common urban myths surrounding lower back difficulty. Much of my background information comes from Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins publication The BackLetter from the January 2004 edition. This edition sites a study from Norway in which over 1000 telephone surveys were conducted about beliefs of back pain. The results were surprising, only in the fact that these false opinions seem to live on. The 7 most common wrong notions about low back pain are: 1. Back pain is usually disabling. 2. If your back hurts, you should rest until it goes away. 3. Most back pain is caused from lifting. 4. If you have a slipped disc, you need surgery. 5. X-rays, MRI’s and CT scans can always tell what’s wrong with your back. 6. Everyone with back pain should have an x-ray. 7. The main thing to do with a sore back is to rest in bed. A good majority of those interviewed held these thoughts about back pain. Although this study involved random members of the Norwegian population, I suspect these views are quite universal. Many of these attitudes come from medical advice given to patients by their doctors 30 or 40 years ago. In spite of new thinking on these subjects, conventional wisdom dies hard. It is amazing to me how much stock people put into x-rays and other imaging techniques, especially MRI. How can we get it across to patients that these modern gadgets, while very

helpful with some disease states, are of minimal value when dealing with the common, garden variety lower back strain? By far the majority of back pains are functional in nature, not structural; therefore, pictures and images that look at bones and muscles (the structure) cannot possibly see problems in the way things move, and work in the spine. These advanced imaging methods are expensive, time-consuming and somewhat dangerous (particularly ionizing radiation). Waiting weeks and weeks for a CT or MRI while still in pain only serves to potentiate the problem getting worse and more chronic. Another myth, and one that is potentially harmful, is that of resting a sore back. Sure a person needs to take it easy, especially in the early acute phase of pain. But the notion that you should head for your bed and stay there for days, or weeks, as it was several decades ago, is downright detrimental. Spines are in effect organs of movement, and without movement, these organs lose their abilities. Loss of flexibility, loss of strength, disc degeneration, weakening of ligaments and often fear of further movement are the usual results of too much rest. Most back problems need to be worked through, especially in conjunction with proper professional care. Professional care is critical to the successful recovery of function after a lower back injury. As an organ of function, the spine needs to regain its mobility, strength and full range of flexibility in order to be considered healed. Simply having the pain go away is not recovery. The functional deficit that resulted in the pain occurring in the first place will still be there long after the pain has gone. That functional deficit will surely come back again, if not restored to normal. Evidence-based studies of lower back pain have clearly shown that the only ways to restore a spine’s function is to have spinal manipulations, or at least mobilizations and exercise. Drugs to dampen pain and relax muscles have been clearly shown to be temporary and not curative by any stretch of one’s imagination. Use these medications sparingly, with great caution and only for short initial periods. If you truly want to get over your back problems, see a competent and reasonable chiropractor, the sooner the better.

An Idea for Unemployment Reform in Oregon By: AJ Nash, guest writer One quick way to potentially impact this recession is to properly incentivize those who are out of work to get a job and add to the economy, as opposed to drain it. Most of us have friends who, in light of the current economic conditions, have found themselves unemployed and faced with the decision of what to do. Do they work 40 hours a week at $10 an hour and bring home $400 a week, or collect unemployment at $500 a week. The current structure of unemployment in Oregon is one sided, in that the requirement to receive unemployment dollars is to prove you are actively seeking employment. There is an obvious monetary value received by the individual on unemployment, yet there is no value exchanged back to the provider. At the core this system does not prepare the recipient for future employers, as it does not require nor incentivize the recipient to work or improve work skills in the process. My recommendation is mandatory community service hours. If every individual on unemployment was required to work just one day (8 hours) of community service per week imagine what this could provide and incentivize. Let’s explore it: According to the US Census Bureau the population of Oregon is 3,747,455 as of 2007. Lets be conservative and assume 2 Million (slightly more than 50%) of this population makes up the potential workforce. Now take

the current unemployment rate of approximately 10%. This means approximately 200,000 Oregonians are out of work and on unemployment. If these 200,000 Oregonians completed just one day (8 hours) of community service a week, it would result in 6.5 million hours of time spent making our local communities a better place. It would also teach/enforce necessary skills such as being on-time, communication, reporting, as well as build relationships. This could lighten the monetary burden for the State of Oregon, as there would be fall off for those who fail or are unwilling to show up. Those who get laid off seasonally now don’t simply have a vacation, and those who are working while collecting unemployment and getting paid under the table would at least have to work one day of giving back to the community. And… for some it may provide the extra incentive known as pride--not wanting to be seen in the unemployment work crew may result in taking an available opportunity that is a bit below the desired income level, rather than simply waiting on unemployment for the perfect opportunity. The opinions expressed in this commentary are those of the author and may not necessarily reflect those held by Integrity First Financial. The Integrity Test By Os Hillman

In 2002, U.S. companies Arthur Andersen, Enron, and Salomon Brothers were all brought down by the rogue actions of a few who failed the integrity test. Their corporate integrity code failed to equip front-line employees to make the right decisions without supervision. Lack of integrity is nothing new. The Bible is full of examples. One of these involves Gehazi, the assistant to the most famous prophet of his day, Elisha. It's hard to imagine that anyone working with such an anointed man who saw firsthand the power of God would fail the integrity test -- but he did. When Elisha healed Naaman (a general in the army) from leprosy, he didn't expect to be compensated and he didn't ask for money. When Naaman insisted that Elisha take some form of payment, the prophet answered, "As surely as the Lord lives, whom I serve, I will not accept a thing" (2 Kings 5:16). Gehazi, however, did not agree with his employer. He saw this as a great opportunity for gain and

took matters into his own hands. "Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said to himself, 'My master was too easy on Naaman, this Aramean, by not accepting from him what he brought. As surely as the Lord lives, I will run after him and get something from him'" (2 Kings 5:20). As a result of his sin, God judged Gehazi. Elisha fired him and God struck him with leprosy, and his life was never the same. He was removed from serving one of God's most extraordinary prophets. Each of us has the potential of being a Gehazi if we do not have a foundation built into our lives that makes us willing to receive only what God gives us through the fruit of our obedience. Ask God to keep your motives pure in all you do. To learn more about Os Hillman's ministry, visit www.marketplaceleaders.org.

Remember the old hurricane lamps? They sat on the shelf above a fireplace ledge sometimes for years, until one day the lights went out. A storm or power outage necessitated getting up, and moving towards the lamp, getting it down off the shelf, dipping it into the fireplace, and setting it ablaze for the needs of the moment. We are at such a moment. This is a time when the storm clouds are gathering. Some are running for retreat. We will do no such a thing. Now is the time to burn. Now is the time to shine. Now is the time to rise to the occasion and trim the wicks of our hearts, placing ourselves in front of the very fire of God, until we combust with passion and become a useful tool for smashing down the darkness. Its not a dream. We are called to be lamps that; Burn on the inside...so that we can Shine on the outside. If there was ever a time to gather together and seek the Lord until He sets us on fire for Himself, it is now. Everyone can be lit. No one need be exempt. Desire is the currency you need. Position yourselves this April 24th-25th in front of the flame. Wait for God to lite you. You will not be alone. Others from the Bride of Christ all over the NorthWest will be joining you. Come. Burn. Shine. Seating is limited so don't wait. For more info and to register quick and easy go to: http://www.burnshine.com

Salem, OR -- A new analysis finds that the Oregon Health Plan is perhaps the first government-run health care plan in the world to draw up official procedures for rationing. The plan ranks various surgeries, diseases and conditions in order of importance and places abortion high on the list. Linda Gorman, a senior fellow with the Independence Institute, produced the analysis, which comes on the heels of concerns about similar rationing in the Congressional economic stimulus bill. Gorman says Oregon officials made the rankings following public comment and used a scale to place them in order of priority from 1 to 680. She says the order has changed over the years and she's perplexed as to the reasons for the new rankings, which appear to make little sense for patients. "Surprisingly, between 2002 and 2009 there was a fairly radical reordering of priorities. That is, procedures that were in the middle of the pack in 2002 climbed to the top of the list in 2009, and vice versa," she writes. "A great many life-saving procedures that ranked high in 2002, such as treatment for Type 1 diabetes, have been relegated to a much lower position in 2009, while procedures that are only tangentially related to life and death have climbed to the top," Gorman adds. The change appears to focus on moving preventive care higher on the list and "the rapid and complete treatment of medically

correctable problems and diseases" are now lower. Surprisingly, abortions rank 41st on the list of 680 most important surgeries and conditions to consider. That indicates "the state considers using public money for abortions more important than treating" other things, Gorman said. Abortion is listed ahead of treating an ectopic pregnancy (43), sexually transmitted diseases (56), or an infection or hemorrhage resulting from a miscarriage (68). Abortion also ranks ahead on the priority list before surgery to repair injured internal organs (88), a closed hip fracture (89), or a hernia showing symptoms of obstruction or strangulation (176). Gorman blames the change in rankings and the priority of abortion on the priority list to the influence of interest groups, presumably those such as Planned Parenthood and NARAL. "In 2002, when treatments through 566 were funded, there was far more emphasis on actual medical care and measurable interventions that save lives and improve individual functioning," she says. "Various interest groups have spent the last seven years reordering the political priorities embodied in the list." "Before ceding control of health care rationing to government, Americans should consider the priorities of the political bodies in charge of health programs in Oregon and Britain," she concludes. Obama “Devout Christian?”

By Dr. Gary Cass – Christian Anti-defamation Center Obama continued his radical, antiChristian policies during a recent trip to Georgetown University. Georgetown is a Catholic University operated by the Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits. On Tuesday the President spoke at the University. In an outrageous expression of antiChristian bigotry, the university was asked by the White House to cover the cross and the “IHS” monogram, an ancient Greek abbreviation for the name of Jesus. It is the height of audacity for a Christian university to have to deny their religious and historic foundations. This story corresponds with Obama’s recent remark that “America is not a

Christian nation.” Other Obama policies reveal this same anti-Christian attitude. CADC reported that Obama has a policy of censoring prayers by Christian clergymen. They are forbidden to use the name of Jesus. One cowardly minister who prayed before an Obama event explained his willingness to comply with the restriction. "For some strange reason, the word Jesus is like pouring gasoline on fire for some people in this country. You learn how to work around that." Jesus warned, “Whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” Same Song, Different Verse. This also reopens the controversy occurring

at another Catholic University, Notre Dame. The President has been invited to speak at its upcoming commencement. In addition, an honorary Doctor of Law degree is being conferred on him. The problem for Catholic leadership is that the traditional Catholic teaching about the sanctity of life is supposed to be a “non-negotiable” theological and policy matter. In a 2004 directive by U.S. bishops, Catholic schools were called not to honor or give platform to politicians who favor abortion. Obama is radically pro-abortion. By allowing Obama to speak at Notre Dame’s commencement, and now at Georgetown University, they are giving him both honor and a platform in defiance of the

Bishops. --- Obama Hypocrisy --The President insists that he is a “devout Christian.” If so, why does he seem so offended by Christian religious symbols? In his own campaign literature Obama posed for pictures in a traditional Christian pulpit with a large golden cross behind him. Now that he has been elected, Obama rarely goes to church and seems happy to distance himself from Christ as much as possible. He certainly does not feel obligated to obey the Scriptures as it relates to his support of abortion and homosexuality. Many Christians believe Obama is a Christian, but the evidence keeps mounting. He is at best a liberal, Unitarian like the grandparents who raised him.

Catching Wild Pigs FROM THE INTERNET By Deemaxine A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a new communist government. In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, “Do you know how to catch wild pigs?” The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. “You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat. You slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.” “Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go

back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.” The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. while continually taking our freedoms -- just a little at a time. One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free lunch! Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it for yourself. What about you? If you see all of this wonderful government ‘help’ as a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to share this with your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you probably won’t care, but God help you when the gate slams shut! Keep your eyes on the newly elected politicians who are about to slam the gate on America! “A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have,” -Thomas Jefferson. “The problem with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money,” - Mrs. Margaret Thatcher.

Dear JC Reporter Readers, We have never before been closer to the passage of federal hate bills. If passed, the ground work will be laid that will lead to the silencing of Christians. With a liberal majority in control of Congress and a President ready to sign hate crimes bills, now more than ever, Christians need to be vocal in opposition before it is too late. You only need to look north to Canada and see the effect of these kinds of hate laws. Pastors are not allowed to publicly declare over the airwaves or publish in the newspapers the truth about Islam and homosexuality.

If we are silent, it won't be long until the church is told to keep all their "hateful" ideas to themselves, including the need for faith in Christ to be saved. Criticizing anyone for their sinful behavior or deviant theology will be considered a hate crime. This will put every faithful minister in jail... I hope you will join the fight to save our nation in this critical time in history. - In Christ, Dr. Gary L. Cass Christian Anti-Defamation Commission www.christianadc.org

You Are Funding Forced Abortions in China

By Reggie Garcia Littlejohn So am I. Not only elective abortions. Forced abortions. It doesn’t matter whether you are prolife or pro-choice on this issue. No one can support forced abortion, because it is not a choice. What do I mean by “forced abortions?” Here are a couple of examples from the U.S. Department of State China Report just released on February 25, 2009: “In March [2008] family planning officials in Henan Province reportedly forcibly detained a 23-year-old unmarried woman who was seven months pregnant. Officials reportedly tied her to a bed, induced labor, and killed the newborn upon delivery. In April [2008] population-planning officials in Shandong provinces reportedly detained and beat the sister of a woman who had illegally conceived a second child in an attempt to compel the woman to undergo an abortion.” According to the Congressional Executive Commission on China report, released on October 31, 2008, “Violators of the [one-child] policy are routinely punished with exorbitant fines, and in some cases, subjected to forced sterilization, forced abortion, arbitrary detention, and torture.” In my opinion, systematic use of forced abortion is a crime against humanity. And now, you and I will be footing the bill. Just this month, Congress quietly passed $50 million in funding for UNFPA, the United Nations Family Planning Fund. The bill includes language that voids Kemp-Kasten, which for 23 years has stood to prevent US dollars from funding coercive family planning. The US cut off funding UNFPA in 2001 because an investigation, headed by then Secretary of State Colin Powell, found that UNFPA was complicit with the Chinese Family Planning officials in coercive implementation of Chinas’ One-Child Policy. According to our own State Department, as well as Amnesty International, China Aid and others, the implementation of China’s One-Child Policy remains coercive. Why must we fund forced abortion with our tax dollars? Not only are women dragged out of their homes screaming and pleading in “family planning raids,” but the One-Child Policy has also led to many other serious human rights violations. I’ll name just three: 1. Gendercide. Because of the traditional preference for boys, most of the aborted babies are girls. There are 120 boys born for every 100 girls born in China, and in some areas the number is as high as 130 boys born for every 100

girls. Since the One-Child Policy was instituted in 1978, 400 million births – greater than the entire population of the United States – have been “prevented.” You could say that an entire nation of women is not living in China today because they were selectively aborted before they were born. This is gendercide. 2. Human Trafficking and Sexual Slavery. Because of abortion, abandonment, and infanticide of baby girls, there are an estimated 30 million Chinese men who will never marry because they cannot find wives. This gender imbalance is a powerful, driving force behind trafficking in women and sexual slavery from nations surrounding China. According to the Feb, 2009 State Department China Report, “Over the past five years, there reportedly was an increase in cross-border trafficking cases, with most trafficked women and girls coming from North Korea, Mongolia and Vietnam. Others came from Burma, Laos, Russia and Ukraine.” 3. Female suicide. According to the World Health Organization, China has the highest female suicide rate of any country in the world. Approximately 500 Chinese women commit suicide each day. Forced abortion traumatizes women. Could this high suicide rate be related to forced abortions? And now, our taxpayer dollars will subsidize forced abortion in China. Think about that when you write your check to Uncle Sam on April 15. Then let President Obama and your Congressional Representatives know what you think. If there’s enough of an outcry, Congress can pass an amendment blocking our UNFPA funding from going to nations that practice coercive family planning. China should be excluded from UNFPA funding. The great 19th century admirer of American democracy, Alexis de Tocqueville once observed, “America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.” May we not lose our goodness, and hence our greatness as a nation by funding forced abortions in China.

Self-Government Under God and the Rule of Law By Bill Goddard The heart and soul of our nation has changed. Less and less do Americans tread upon its strong and well-laid foundation, as we once so earnestly did; the foundation of God’s (YHVH) word. That foundation was built upon verses like Psalm 40:4, “Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,” and Psalm 56:11, “In God I have put my trust.” Our government now more reflects and magnifies the change from “One nation under God” to one nation under man. What happened? Before there was any civil government, there was the self-government of Adam and Eve under God. Soon, self-government was lost through broken relationship with God. Later, after the Flood, God re-stated His mandate to multiply and fill the earth. But, Nimrod and the people at the Tower of Babel made it their will to remain there, to govern themselves and ‘to make a name for themselves’. Despite the truth that humanity has acquired its basic rights directly from the nature of a loving God--and not the state, the young Hebrew nation mistakenly demanded a human king, a mortal ruler rather than governing themselves under God. Now, in America, more people are seeking salvation through copious legislation, promises, and hope in the state as god. Forsaken is the God-given freedom to choose to live in obedience to His law, a higher law, which brings about His favor. Civil law was ordained of God to restrain evil (see Romans 13:4), not to serve as a ‘deliverer’. Biblical law was given as an eternal instruction for living. The problem is sin, not jobs and mortgages. “The bottom line is this: Freedom requires selfgovernment and self-government requires righteousness.” This helps explain why “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Prov. 29:2. Self-government rightly extends to the family, the church and the state, and each entity is responsible to rightly perform its God-given role to rightly self-govern. William Wilberforce’s example for political and economic change is our model. By faith he engaged British Parliament for 20

10 THE JC TOWN REPORTER

years, relentlessly introducing legislation until the slavery-for-profit (un-)ethic was broken and abolished. Wilberforce did not quit, though he faced a mountain-like obstacle. Analogously, in response to the Cal Thomas “Religious Right RIP” column, which calls Christians to abandon political activism in favor of living like Jesus, Mark Early in Breakpoint Worldview (12-18-08, “Post-Election Thoughts”) challenges Thomas’ point of view. Yes, live like Jesus, but No, don’t give up! Instead, insist that political leaders “clean up their act.” Christianity is at the root of the idea that law and liberty are not separable. Hugely significant is the fact that the word tyranny means ‘secular rule’ in the Greek, i.e. not the rule of law, but rule by men. So, Biblical foundations of the rule of law must be restored in America if we are to enjoy Godgiven freedom. The words of Charles Spurgeon and J.R. Rushdooney affirm Montesquieu, who commented: “. . . God is related to the universe as Creator and Preserver. The laws by which He has created all things are those by which He preserves them.” God’s law, being higher, should be our basic reference, not the laws of sinful man. As in the Bible (Ex. 1:17, Dan. 6, Acts 5:29), John Stott calls for civil disobedience under ungodly law, as have John Locke, Thomas Jefferson—and Pope Paul VI, only “in extraordinary situations . . . against longstanding tyranny.” Now, moral relativism/Darwinism is undermining the rule of law in the West, with the visible result being the Christian faith being gradually abandoned. So, any Westerner who scoffs at and dishonors the Christian faith or the laws of God should know it is the very source of their freedom to so think and act. Indeed, wherever Christianity is cast aside, tyranny rules; and where principles of YHVH are genuinely practiced, freedom and liberty ensue. *Editor’s note: there are many gods and lords, but the name YHVH – Yahweh is hidden in the Bible or removed from it nearly 7000 times – many men will confuse the Creator with imposters in end times – footnotes available on request.

Warren's failure to support marriage hurts Christianity

By Don Wyant, Jr. Regardless of what you think about Rick Warren’s book, “Purpose Driven Life,” the Saddleback Church Pastor and author’s recent appearance on CNN's Larry King Live is disturbing and unfortunately, not out of character for someone who values acceptance over truth. When asked about his stance on marriage, Warren responded that he has "never been and never will be" an "anti-gay marriage activist." Warren even went so far as to make sure it was known that he wanted to apologize to his homosexual friends for comments he made in October to his church in support of Proposition 8 in California. Warren’s lack of conviction and resulting comments are disheartening, unbiblical and unacceptable for a Pastor who has done so much to help lead people toward a disciplined, intentional life for the Savior Yahshua/Jesus. We are commanded to honor Yahweh/God first and to not fear men or to put their laws and traditions against His. In a world where it is increasingly difficult to recognize a “Christian” from an unbeliever, Warren was absolutely wrong to weaken the cause of purity and obedience to Scripture. While it is our responsibility and privilege to love and minister to those who are stuck in deviant lifestyles, it is nauseating and blatantly false to sanction, promote or

even accept the wicked practices of men as a part of our society. Recognizing and legalizing homosexual marriage is an abomination to our King and we should be doing everything possible to separate ourselves from the evils that man concocts and calls good or godly. Either Pastor Warren made a mistake or he is a wolf in a sheep’s skin and one of the leading offenders in making our God into an unholy, all-accepting hypocrite and liar. I hope that Pastor Warren would learn to hate the applause of men and love the work and the true gospel of Yashua/ Jesus our Messiah. Warren is helping to foist a great, end-time deception on the very people he claims to love. I hope he reconsiders quickly and repents; both for his sake and for the sake of those he has fooled.

“Economic Priorities”

More and more we dread turning on our TV’s, knowing another dose of depressing news is being aired! It’s unsettling and confusing as we try to make sense of it all. It seems to me that this gives parents all the more reasons to have their children in the safe harbor of a Christian school. A trusted place where teachers and staff believe, exemplify and promote the truth of God’s Word. In Christian schools, the Word of God is foundational and is the springboard of all knowledge and morality. I am not surprised that in a recent survey, since 2001, the number of adherents to Christianity in the United States continues to decline, while the number of outright atheists has nearly doubled. It seems relatively clear that significant influences in our culture have gained advantage in a great contest for the heart, mind, and soul of our nation. That advantage is leaning

more heavily toward secularism and non-Christian religious influences. It seems to me, one of the most prominent factors of this decline, is a failed public educational system that eschews teaching children the traditional moral values that bind Americans together as a society and a culture. The failed approach, called “decision making,” was introduced in schools 25 years ago. It tells children to decide for themselves what is right and what is wrong. It replaced “character education.” Character education didn’t ask children to reinvent the moral wheel; instead it encouraged them to practice habits of courage, justice and self-control as outlined in the Ten Commandments. In the light of these findings it should be of great concern to Christian families that they take every opportunity to ensure the most effective teaching and nurture possible for their children regarding the development of a Christian worldview.

Not since the Great Depression have Americans faced such a significant challenge in weighing the economic priorities of life. So as you consider those priorities now, will you choose Christian schooling and thus gain the advantage of Christian-worldview integration in your student’s education, or will you take a chance—a chance on fighting alone against the non-Christian culture, which is gaining ground in the war of worldviews? Through my many years of Christian school administration, I have seen and heard testimonies of God’s faithfulness in blessing parents who make a decision for Christian schooling. For Christian parents who have their children in Christian schools and are still deciding about next year’s re-enrollment, or for Christian parents who are considering it, be assured of my prayers in this very important decision. Book review by Don Wyant, Jr.

“The Late Great USA” By Dr. Jerome Corsi In The Late Great USA, Corsi proves that the benignly-named “Security and Prosperity Partnership,” created at a meeting between George W. Bush, Paul Martin and Vincente Fox, is in fact the same kind of regional integration plan that led Europe to form the EU. According to Corsi, the elites in Europe who wanted to create a European nation knew that “it would be necessary to conceal from the peoples of Europe just what was being done in their name until the process was so far advanced that it had become irreversible.” Could the same thing be happening here? Is American sovereignty doomed? Using dozens of documents secured through the Freedom of Information Act and his trademark hard-hitting interviews, Jerome Corsi sets out a chilling view of America’s possible “harmonized” future -one being created covertly, without voter input or Congressional oversight. Could our government’s unfathomable position on illegal immigration be tied to the prospect of an integrated North American Union? “The Late Great U.S.A. is a real winner that sounds a clarion call to this nation. This book uncovers the careful deceptions of a

powerful elite who want to undermine our sovereignty before we realize it. I consider this a must read for every American.” - Hal Lindsey, Best-selling author of The Late Great Planet Earth: ”Dr. Corsi has ‘connected the dots’ between the Security and Prosperity Partnership, the sale of toll roads and other infrastructure to foreign companies, and proposals for a North American Union with open borders between Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. The Late Great U.S.A. is an essential read for anyone concerned about the future independence and sovereignty of the United States.” -Phyllis Schlafly, President, Eagle Forum: “This writer agrees! We have to keep a diligent watch on a government that seems out of control, no matter what political party is in charge. We will probably not ever know for sure exactly how the Biblical “end-times” will play out until we are in the middle of it. Corsi is a good watchdog on the subject of “One World Government” and his work should be read and appreciated.”

The Foundation of Kingdom Economy By Rick Joyner

Love is the foundation of the kingdom economy. Because we are told in I Cor 13:8 that “love never fails,” we know that if we build on this kingdom principle then we cannot fail. We should also consider that it will be to the degree that we build on love that we will succeed. For this reason, we will take a bit of time to review the biblical definition of love, and how love must be practically applied to our economy. Love is more than just having good feelings toward someone. Love is practical and maintains its noble character when it would be more advantageous not to. Love endures difficulties and remains even when the love is not returned. Love is not based on circumstances or the hope of reward, but on a nature that is joined to God’s nature. Last week, we covered the first two characteristics of love described in I Cor 13 --how love is patient and kind, and a few ways how these might relate to a kingdom business. Now we will continue with the next characteristic and how it can relate to a kingdom enterprise. “Love . . . is not jealous” (see I Cor 13:4). How strikingly different business would be if businessmen and women never did anything out of reaction to what their competitors did and never spoke evil of them, but rather sought the good of their

competitors, even sending them business when they could. That sounds too good to be true, but some have actually done this and prospered. When I was shopping this past Christmas season and went into a store that turned out not to have what I was looking for, I asked them if they knew where I might get the item. Their reply was a lame “no.” I knew they just did not want to send me to a competitor. I went to the competitor, and they turned out not to have it either. However, not only did they make some recommendations, but they phoned their competitors for me. Next time, I will certainly go to that store first. By thinking of their customer and even their competitor, they won my trust and probably my future business. It is always right to do the right thing. Jealousy will always hurt the one who has it the most. Many churches feel they are in competition with other churches. Any who feel this way are operating in a spirit of jealousy, regardless of how much they may claim not to be. We are told in Matthew 27:18 that it was because of envy, or jealousy, that Jesus was delivered up to be crucified. Even the heathen ruler, Pilate, recognized the jealousy of the Sanhedrin in wanting to put Jesus to death. Jealousy is usually easily recognized by even the most simple. Jealousy kills, is the opposite of love, and will have no place in the kingdom of

God. If we are going to build our lives, church, or business on the kingdom of God, jealousy can have no place in it. This may be the single greatest cause of division in the church. In almost every case, the root of division is the terrible and destructive evil of jealousy. Every single work that has been built with a spirit of jealousy in its framework will ultimately come down, just as the jealousy of the rulers of Israel toward Jesus ultimately resulted in their city being reduced to rubble. Jealousy is an ultimate evil, and the kingdom will have none of it. The Lord told us that just as we have done to the least of His little ones, we have done it to Him (see Matthew 25:40). How we treat another church is the same way that we are counted to have treated Him. We may condemn the leaders of Israel for what they did, but has the church not been just as guilty as them? This remains a primary reason why many churches are ultimately decimated just as Jerusalem was. What we release in heaven, or the spiritual realm, is released in the world. If the church is going to be able to spiritually spawn and oversee kingdom enterprises, we must not let the leaven of jealousy be sown in them, or they will be doomed. If we allow jealousy to affect our relationships to other churches, it will come out in what our members do as well, and it is a seed that destroys.

When the Lord looks down on a city, He only sees one church, and all of the congregations are members of the one body. If we are in a place where there are multiple churches, most local congregations will specialize and become strong in a certain aspect of ministry. For example, one might be strong in teaching the fundamentals, one in healing, another in evangelism, another in prophecy and guidance, and another in family ministry, and so forth. How much healthier would the body be if the churches all saw themselves as part of a greater whole, and for the sake of the members, sent them to the one that could help them the most where they needed it? If we trusted the Holy Spirit this way, unity would grow in the body in such a way that the whole world would start to marvel at it and maybe believe the gospel we preach about the love of God. If we have the Spirit of God and another church begins to prosper, we will be happy about it and will support and promote it. If we do that, we too can share in the spiritual fruit of the work. If we have the Spirit of God, we will do the same with other businesses if we truly are building a kingdom enterprise. The Lamb of God

First Fruits of Zion

Nissan (or April) was the beginning of months and we will have many opportunities for practically living out the words of the Scripture. As Believers in Yahshua we were to prepare for Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and to begin the counting of the omer as we look toward Shavuot or Pentecost. We are also able to recount the time when the Lamb of God was sent to take away the sin of the world. There is so much that could be written about the month of Nissan (a.k.a. Aviv, which literally means ripe and by extension spring time). However this article will speak mostly of one aspect of the Passover Seder meal. Specifically, the four "I will" statements that the Holy One made as recorded in Exodus 6:6-7 will be mentioned. Remember, in the book of Exodus, the children of Israel had cried out to the Holy One Yahweh because they had become slaves in Egypt. Not only were their freedoms taken from them, but they were being brutally mistreated and abused. This was the normality for the kingdom in which they were in forced servitude. The account continues to describe that despite the horrid treatment the descendants of Jacob held to a hope in the promise of deliverance. They knew that God would not forsake his promise to the patriarchs. At the appointed time, the Holy One would deliver them. He told Moses to tell Israel the following, which are listed by the corresponding cups in the Seder meal. First Cup - I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. Second Cup - I will deliver you from slavery to them. Third Cup - I will

redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment. Fourth Cup - I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God, and you shall know that I am the LORD your God, who has brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. Just as the Israelites were in bitter bondage to Egypt and its wicked king, we find ourselves enslaved to a more fiercely cruel tyrant and the world. This makes the redemption even sweeter and more rich. If we look at each of the cups, we can catch the beginning glimpse of what our atonement through Messiah has produced for our eternal lives. Looking specifically at the fourth cup, we can see that the Holy One has done all to ensure a relationship with His people. To be certain, this is not just a casual relationship, but an intimate relationship as close as a husband and wife (Hosea 2:19-20). As such, the Holy One has “called” for us to live as called and “brought out” people. So each year when you take part in the Passover Seder, may you call to remembrance the deliverances and great calling that Yahweh has done on your behalf and may you be blessed in the grace and knowledge of our redemption through Messiah Yahshua, the Lamb of God that took away the sin of the world. Finally, those in Messiah are blessed to join with John, the beloved, and offer praise "to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom and priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen" - Revelation 1:5-6. FFOZ.com

and so that our whole country, the United States of America, may continue to bless the world, and to bless, as she now does, all nations of the earth; and that she may continue to be one undivided country until the voice of the Son of God shall be heard descending in the clouds. We ask all in His name, who taught us to say, when we pray: “Our Father… Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven….” When Pastor Auer reached the Lord's Prayer, he invited everyone to participate. Of the approximately 400 people in attendance, easily two thirds joined in what became the most inspiring moment many of us would ever experience in our state capitol. If the majority of Oregon's leaders truly reflected the sentiments in Reverend Bishop's invocation, our state would continue to be a shining beacon of God’s approaching kingdom. The outward evidence of God's will being done on earth is unparalleled justice, freedom, and prosperity, not the situation we are in today. As we celebrate Oregon's sesquicentennial and consider the state and national crisis we are now facing, a stark contrast of priorities becomes clear. Our governments have gradually become elevated above God and family, and our nation is losing its place as the beacon of hope and righteousness to the rest of the world. As it was in the time of King Saul, our nation is becoming “like all the other nations,” 1 Samuel 8:20, pursuing worldly goals rather than faithfully working toward, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth…,” as our founders did. The following admonition is inscribed in our Capitol rotunda, overlooking the Great Seal of our state: “In the souls of its citizens will be found the likeness of the state, which if they be unjust and tyrannical, then will it reflect their vices, but if they be lovers of righteousness, confident in their liberties, so will it be clean in justice, bold in freedom.” Our forefathers clearly understood that righteousness, not government, makes our nation secure and prosperous. Nearly all of our founding fathers acknowledged that our freedoms are built on Kingdom principles expressed in the Bible. If you are a Christian, you are already a subject of God's kingdom. Colossians 1:13 states, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.” This entire passage emphasizes the suprema-

cy of Christ over government. “For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him,” Colossians 1:16. You can read about the modern distortion of the “separation of church and state” at www.concernedoregonians.com/Separation.aspx Our role as citizens of a constitutional republic is made extremely clear in Ephesians 6: 10 & 12a. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, and against the powers of this dark world…” If we allow our government to be “unjust and tyrannical”, it is because it naturally reflects the vices “in the souls of (us) its citizens”. At Gettysburg, President Lincoln stated, “…that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from the earth,” because patriotic Americans had accepted the call to stand “strong in the Lord” against injustice and tyranny. If we, the citizens of Oregon, again become “lovers of righteousness,” we can reclaim our liberty, justice and freedom, as promised in the sacred inscription in our rotunda. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God promised, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Please join with us in standing firm for God’s “perfect law of liberty,” James 1:25, which has been Oregon's sacred heritage since its earliest beginning. Pastor Aaron Auer, founder of R.O.A.R., is hosting a series of 42 patriotic sesquicentennial celebrations honoring the foundational principles of our country and state, and the heroic pioneers who embodied those principles on Oregon's frontier. These commemorations will take place throughout Oregon in June and July, with major events in Eugene, Albany, Salem, Corvallis, McMinnville, Hillsboro, Oregon City, Portland, and Champoeg, the birthplace of Oregon. His Kingdom will advance as you help and participate in these public celebrations of God, family, country, and our national motto, which for now remains, “In God we trust.” Craig Myers

10th anniversary of the Oregon Bible Reading Marathon! “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” 2 Timothy 3:16 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the Oregon Bible Reading Marathon! read aloud a portion of Scripture that God has esteemed even above His Name (Psalm 138:2). Through the Bible Reading Marathon, we celebrate our faith in three ways: 1)We proclaim the importance of the Bible to our nation’s past, present, and future. 2)We celebrate the religious freedom we enjoy in this nation. 3)We demonstrate our desire that all for whom Christ died be saved. The Bible’s transforming power is guaranteed! Jesus quoted from the Old Testament when He gave us the key to victory over

Satan’s temptations. He said, “Man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord!” (Matthew 4:4). It is essential, then, that we open our hearts and read what He says. Otherwise, our prayers will not be heard. As Proverbs 28:9 reminds us, “One who turns away from hearing the Law, even his prayer shall be an abomination”. We welcome everyone to read the only inspired revelation to mankind. Our prayer is that this Marathon will cause people to realize how important the Bible is for them personally and to our entire nation. If you would like to learn more about the

roots of faith our faith roots of our

"... thou bearest not the root, but the root thee." Firm Foundation? Romans 11:18

Truth about the Torah

By Daniel Rendelman ravemet@comcast.net In 1173 construction began on a building that would later receive worldwide attention. A foundation was laid and workers started to labor with the best marble. As the eightstory structure was being completed several architects began to notice a slight problem. Somehow, this beautiful bell tower in Italy seemed to lean just a few inches. Precautions would have to be taken to stop this monument from falling. Today the “Leaning Tower of Pisa” tower stands tall and slanted as a sign to the world about the importance of a well-built and secure foundation. The Messiah spoke of this concept through a parable about a wise man that built his house upon a rock in Matthew 7:24-27. The rains came down, the floods went up, and only the house on the rock stood firm. If a bad foundation can cause a building of solid stone to crumble, then surely having a bad spiritual foundation can cause a believer to fall. The scriptures are clear that a person’s spiritual walk should be based upon the first five books of the Bible. These are the teachings of Moses upon which the whole of the Bible is built. They were not replaced with the Gospels and the Messiah did not do away with these teachings. 2 Timothy 2:19a, “A solid foundation stands firm.” Many Christians start their faith by turning directly to the middle of the Bible for instruction and inspiration. New believers begin reading the Gospels without any prior knowledge of what is required of man or how the Most High relates to humanity. Without Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy it is impossible to correctly understand the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

18 THE JC TOWN REPORTER

Suppose a person walks into an Algebra class with no prior knowledge of math. The teacher starts the class by instructing everyone to turn to the middle of the book. The new student would be lost. Well, that is exactly what happens when people lay a foundation of the New Testament without knowledge and understanding of the Old Testament teachings and way of life. In Hebrew, the first five books of the Bible are called the “Torah.” Torah is often translated as “law” in most English Bibles but the word actually means “teaching and instruction.” Torah is more like an instruction manual than a rulebook. Found within the Torah is a blueprint for living, with information on pretty much every part of life, from what to eat, to how to dress, and when to worship. The Torah is the revelation of the Creator’s eternal will for mankind. It is the Bible the Savior read and used. The Messiah based His complete life and ministry on the Torah. He did not violate, negate, nor abolish it. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished,” Matthew 5:17 & 18. The issue seems pretty plain doesn’t it? Heaven and earth are still here, so the Law/ Torah must be too! What was wrong to do during the times of Moses is still wrong. What was commanded during the time Moses is still commanded today. The Torah is the true foundation for the Biblical faith. To learn more about the Torah visit www.emetministries.com.

This section will be devoted to Scriptural words and their meaning. We will not only establish the etymological roots of these words, but we will reveal how many English words are actually Hebrew words. Everything and anything you might want to know about the Hebrew language will be discussed and presented in this section. Too often the Bible is translated from a Greek or Roman perspective, completely hiding or distorting the author’s intended meaning. When a knowledge of the culture and the Torah is added, meanings become clear and simple as they were intended to be. E-mail us if you want to know what a particular word is and we will be happy to post it here for all to read. If you are interested in it, maybe many others are, too. Brad Scott www.wildbranch.com, email: brad@ wildbranch.com ___________________________________ FULFILL One of the more controversial verses in the New Testament is found in Mattityahu (Matthew) 5:17: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets; I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill." We are all aware of how our religious friends interpret the word fulfill here. "Look! He did not come to destroy the Torah but to end it." In other words, He did not come to destroy the law but to destroy the law. What does the word fulfill mean? The Greek word used here is pleroo. This downstream Greek word means to fill up or to

make full. That ought to end the conversation right there. This is not the Greek word for the ending or ceasing of anything. When we take this word back to the beginning we see that it shows up first in Bere'shiyt Genesis) 1:22: "And Elohiym “God” blessed them, saying Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill [pleroo] the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth." The Hebrew word used here is mala. In most americanized Hebrew lexicons this word also means to fill something up or to make full or complete. Pictographically, it is a mem (waters), a lamed (to lead to) and an aleph (power). This word means "the power to lead to the waters." Is it just happenstance that the first occurrence is life in the seas? You see, our Master created the seas, but it is just water without life in it. In other words, once life is added to the seas, He can now say that it is good. The same is true when all the creatures of the earth, including Adam and Chavah, are brought forth. The earth is not complete without life in it. The religious systems of the day had turned the Torah into a rote system of rules and regulations that they had added to God's commandments. They moved the life out of the Torah. Yeshua the Way, the Truth, and the LIFE, had come to restore life back into the Word of God. He came to fill it up to make it whole once again. Yeshua came to restore the Torah back to HE SAID instead of THEY SAID. Shalom Alecheim! (Peace be with you!) WILDBRANCH can be heard weekdays at 8:30 a.m. on JC Talk, KPJC AM 1220

The Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet Traditional stories teach that he who knows how to combine the letters of the Hebrew Alef-Bet can create or destroy worlds. It is said if the letters were to remove themselves from the heavens above us, even for an instant, and return to their source, the entire heaven would become an instant vacuum. "The Wisdom of

the Hebrew Alef-Bet" examines each of the letters, from Alef to Tav, and explains the wisdom and understanding embodied in each one. Yahshua said, “I AM the Alef-Bet. When you know him, you truly know Him in all He is, you will come to understand the past, present, future and beyond your wildest imagination.

Hannah Montana

From the Internet Featured Musical Artist

THE WELCOME WAGON

Reviewd By Bob Hoose From Plugged in online Well, if there's one thing as certain as hounds lovin' naps in the sunshine, it's that there won't be any acting awards handed out for Hannah Montana: The Movie. But, of course, since this lightweight adaptation of the lightweight Disney Channel series looks to be a surefire tween magnet (remember Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert?), I'm sure nobody prone to wearing mouse ears is going to sweat that little detail. After all, Miley Stewart's trip back to Tennessee is simply a goofy lark designed to give adoring fans a chance to visualize themselves romping around in Miley Cyrus' place. Giggling girls in audiences around the world will see themselves riding next to that handsome young cowpoke. They'll imagine the fun of pratfalling their way through campy slapstick, and singing and dancing their way to cornpone glee. I'm a dad. I have a girl. So I understand all that. I can even accept it. But there was something, nonetheless, that made me flinch a bit while I watched this movie: Throughout the story, Robby Ray tries to make sure the average, girl-next-door sweetness of his teen daughter's personality isn't overwhelmed by her ritz-and-glitz rockin' Hannah side. And even Miley realizes that average and sweet aren't all that bad. But just as she's about ready to choose brunette ponytails over all the pomp, the cheering throng convinces her that her life could never be "normal" without Ms. Montana's golden locks. That's when my movie reviewer hat suddenly fell off and somebody rammed my dad hat down into place. I sat up a bit straighter and thought, "Oh, really?" Does life need to include cheering crowds to be happy? Can't a loving family and good buds be plenty? And isn't that, in a way, what Miley Cyrus

is wrestling with right now? It appears from the outside that even she is wondering "How much of this glitz do I embrace?" as she sometimes tiptoes and sometimes stomps around her own kind of double life. In a recent Associated Press interview, Cyrus was asked what kids should do if they're torn between pursuing an acting dream or going to college. The article reported that with her usual "unfiltered candor" she replied, "I say 'do it.' Be a freak. Go to Hollywood." My dad hat started pinching my scalp when I read that. Many a broken heart has come from wishing on that particular star. Some would say you're better off playing the lottery than trying to break in at Disney. And sometimes I think young people are so inundated with these sparkling images—created, if we're being honest with ourselves, only to sell the next load of merchandise—that they have a hard time sorting out the real from the fake, even without a secret persona. And it makes me wonder if we're steering them wrong with this sort of entertainment. Even when we're simply trying to give them a good time. OK. So maybe I'm trying to dig too deep into all this. After all, there's a whole lot of family love rolling around this film that'll inspire a whole bunch of people to care a little bit more about those closest to them. But that's honestly what I walked out of the theater thinking and asking myself. And as my dear old grandmother used to say in her own down-home sensible way: "There's no question worth wrestling with in your heart, that isn't worth askin' out loud." Of course she'd usually say that just before yelling to my mother, "Get this kid out from under my feet. He's asking too many questions."

The Welcome Wagon is a married couple, the Reverend Thomas Vito Aiuto and his wife Monique, who execute a genre of gospel music that is refreshingly plain. Their hymns are modest and melodic takes on a vast history of sacred song traditions, delivered with the simple desire to know their Maker—and to know each other—more intimately. Vito was born in Tecumseh, Michigan, and attended Western Michigan University where he developed a love for writing poetry. His first book of poems, Self Portrait as Jerry Quarry, was published by New Issues Press in 2002. A selfdescribed agnostic, Vito experienced a spiritual conversion at the age of 20 and soon after enrolled at Princeton Theological Seminary to study theology and prepare for ordained ministry. Currently he is the senior pastor of Resurrection Presbyterian Church, a church he planted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY, in 2005. Raised on a farm, by a gentleman farmer father and choir teacher mother, in the same small town as Vito, Monique moved to New York City after high school to study art, first at the Cooper Union (BFA), then Columbia University (MFA). Since then she has worked as a pre-school teacher, craftmaker for Martha Stewart, and as a mother. She also serves as the Welcome Wagon's resident visual artist. The Welcome Wagon began as husband and wife singing in the privacy of their home. Having little to no previous musical experience or training, Vito purchased a guitar with the desire to sing hymns with his family. With Monique accompanying on toy glockenspiel or harmonica, the two would amble through old hymnals, psalters and prayerbooks. Their inability to read music was no big issue; Vito simply made up new tunes to old words. While their most familiar venue was (and is) their living room, the Welcome Wagon have been periodically coaxed to small stages at bars, parties, and seminaries throughout the New York City area, often joined by friends on upright bass, drums,

piano, and banjo. These intimate arrangements preserve the delicate nature of the Welcome Wagon's identity. But there is another Welcome Wagon, the one that can be heard on their debut album, Welcome to the Welcome Wagon. This version of the band retains the heart and soul of pastor and his wife singing together, but dresses them up in the transcendent musical vestments of Sufjan Stevens, who produced and helped arrange the record. The collaboration between Stevens and The Welcome Wagon began in 2001 with their appearance on the Asthmatic Kitty compilation To Spirit Back the Mews (2001), debuting the first song they ever wrote and recorded, "There is a Fountain Filled with Blood." Since that time they have been patiently recording an album of hymns, pop covers, and folksy originals with their friend and Brooklyn neighbor. But it was the nativity of that first song which established their pattern of work together: husband and wife write and arrange songs with the architecture of a country chapel, while Stevens (as latter-day Christopher Wren) designs and attaches flying buttresses, soaring spires and reliquaries, gargoyles, gryphons and cherubs dotting the façade. Somehow this unlikely partnership has produced a sublime addition to that genre called "church music.” Admittedly, for a gospel duo, there's far less soul than sweet sincerity in the casual songs of the Welcome Wagon. Vito and his wife are unabashedly Midwestern, ordinary and uncool. But this is precisely what sets them apart from the standard fare of contemporary liturgical music. It doesn't feign emotion; it doesn't pander to stylistic pretensions; it doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is: the result of countless, informal social exchanges between friends. A home-cooked meal followed by a few microphones taped to folding chairs. A family gathering, a summary of happy noises, and a room crowded with familiar faces. Sure, there are showy guitar riffs and piano codas and harmonica solos, a rowdy chorus, an imposing flourish of brass instruments like wartime canons. But at the heart of it—if you really listen carefully—there's just a pastor and his wife tentatively singing in the quiet privacy of their own home. Review by Asthmatic Kitty

Will you give this to my Daddy? Red Fridays

Last week I was in Atlanta , Georgia attending a conference. While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer. I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen. Moving thru the terminal was a group of soldiers in their camos. As they began heading to their gate, everyone (well almost everyone) was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and cheered for, it hit me. I'm not alone. I'm not the only red-blooded American who still loves this country and supports our troops and their families. Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line everyday for us so we can go to school, work and home without fear or reprisal. Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our Service men

and women, a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old ran up to one of the male soldiers. He kneeled down and said 'hi.' The little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her. The young soldier, who didn't look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy. Then suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.. The mother of the little girl, who said her daughter's name was Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Marine and had been in Iraq for 11 months now. As the mom was explaining how much her daughter Courtney missed her father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mom was done explaining her situation, all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military-looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it. After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, 'I

spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.' He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying 'your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and He is coming home very soon.' The mom at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet, he saluted Courtney and her mom. I was standing no more than 6 feet away from this entire event. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people resumed their applause. As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry eyes, including my own. That young soldier in one last act of selflessness, turned around and blew a kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek. We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families and thank God for them and their sacrifices. At the end of the day, it's good to be an American. RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our troops used to be called the 'silent major-

ity'. We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing.. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday - and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar will wear something red.. By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family. It will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once 'silent' Continued on next page

Corralling Civilians on Military Bases Courtesy of Jerome R. Corsi, © 2009 WorldNetDaily.com

Is the U.S. Gearing Up For Internment Camps? Rep. Alcee L. Hastings, D-Fla., has introduced to the House of Representatives a new bill, H.R. 645, calling for the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish no fewer than six national emergency centers for corralling civilians on military installations. The bill creates detention camps in U.S. for 'emergencies,' creating sweeping, undefined purposes that raise worries about a military police state. The proposed bill, which has received little mainstream media attention, appears designed to create the type of detention center that those concerned about use of the military in domestic affairs fear could be used as concentration camps for political dissidents, such as occurred in Nazi Germany. The bill also appears to expand the president's emergency power, much as the executive order signed by President Bush on May 9, 2007, that give the president the authority to declare an emergengy and take over the direction of all federal, state, local, territorial and tribal governments without even consulting Congress. DHS has awarded a $385 million contract to Houston-based KBR, Halliburton's former engineering and construction subsidiary, to build temporary detention centers on an "as-needed" basis in national emergency situations. According to the text of the proposed bill, the purpose of the National Emergency Centers is "to provide temporary housing, medical, and humanitarian assistance to individuals and families dislocated due to

a n e m e r g e n c y o r m a j o r d i s a s t e r. " Three additional purposes are specified in the text of the proposed legislation: To provide centralized locations for the purposes of training and ensuring the coordination of federal, state and local first responders; To provide centralized locations to improve the coordination of preparedness, response and recovery efforts of g o v e r n m e n t , p r i v a t e , n o t - f o r- p r o f i t entities and faith-based organizations; To meet other appropriate needs, as defined by the secretary of homeland security. The broad specifications of the bill's language, however, contribute to concern that the "national emergency" purpose could be utilized by the Secretary of Homeland Security to include any kind of situation the government wants to contain or otherwise control. Rep. Hastings created controversy during the 2008 presidential campaign with his provocative comments concerning Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. "If Sarah Palin isn't enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," Hastings said, as reported by ABC News. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don't care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through." H.R. 645, which seeks to allocate $360 million for developing the emergency centers, has been referred to the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and to the Committee on Armed Services.

Revolutionary Television Series Captivates Arabic Women Worldwide

By Diana Kunkle

In April, 2001, Christian womens’ ministry, Aglow International, in association with Miracle Channel, aired the first episode of their talk-style television series, Diwaniya for Women, in the Middle East. Traditionally, in the Arabic culture, a “diwaniya” is a public gathering place, where men of the community socialize and discuss matters of interest in a relaxed atmosphere. Women are not typically allowed in these places, nor are they welcome to have public opinions. The concept of open discussion of such culturally taboo topics as marital conflicts, death, the spiritual world and parenting, on television--among women--was revolutionary. The program was quickly embraced by it’s audience, and is no longer exclusive to Middle Eastern countries. Arabic communities all over the world, from North America to Australia and New Zealand, now have access to the show through various satellite, cable, and public access stations, reaching an estimated 400 million potential viewers. To accommodate viewer response, the program began with a call center-- fielding questions and ministering to those affected by the shows’ topics and messages. With the success and expansion of the series, a second call center was established in North America. Ultimately, the show, together with the call center, was designed to gently introduce the Gospel message to it’s audience. Produced in the Arabic language, with English subtitles, Diwaniya for Women discusses topics relevant to Arabic women from a “subtly Christian” perspective. The women on the show share their personal testimonies of trial and then of healing and transformation through the work of Jesus Christ. Although many women in Arab communities do suffer from neglect, oppression, or even abuse, the message of the show is not one of “Womens’ Liberation,” but of the peace and freedom they can have through a relationship with Christ. Followers of Islam have no concept of a loving God, as nowhere in their religious writings does it say that their god, Allah, loves anyone. The revelation that Christ does love them and gave himself

for them is a welcome message to the viewers of the program. Letters received and testimonies shared through the call centers show that many have become “closet believers,” secretly cherishing a relationship with the true God within their hearts, and that the message of the show has helped them find peace and joy within, despite adverse circumstances. The show has had a decent sized positive response from men as well as women. A man named Ahmed testifies, “Now I have God’s grace in my life. I am one who misunderstood you Christians. I thought you worshiped 3 gods. And I used to hate you, but praise God, now I am free from all such thoughts. My heart is filled with love towards all people, even if they hate me. Jesus is great. He doesn’t hate and he doesn’t kill. He doesn’t say bad things. He loves even the most hateful and rejected person.” In 2004, Dr. Victor Khalil, an Arab minister, pastoring in the US, became a vital part of the ministry of Diwaniya for Women. He was instrumental in establishing the show within the US, and now heads up the call center based in North America, spending over 60 hours a month personally counseling Arab and English speaking callers. He says, “We are reaching out to the women of the Middle East, and the Muslim world, with the message of God’s love, something they did not hear before, they grow up believing that Allah created them to serve their man. Now they hear that they are equal in the sight of God, and they are loved by him, they are not a property.” Dr. Khalil’s website, www. arablights.com, is a wonderful resource. Through this site, Dr. Khalil’s ministry can be contacted for counseling, prayer and guidance, and episodes of Diwaniya for Women can be viewed 24 hours a day. There are many Arab communities within the US filled with people hungry to know the true God. Diane Moder, director of Aglow International’s Islam Awareness and Education program, encourages Christians to reach out to these people without fear. Statistically, 99 out of 100 Muslims have never been in a Christian home. Diane shares that typically Muslims have respect for people with conviction, so there is no need to be afraid to share your faith with your Muslim friends. They have a high regard for anyone who truly walks with God. For more information and insight on reaching Arabic people in your community, Diane can be contacted via e-mail at dianemoder@aglow.org.
