FOLLOW THE MONEY TO THE END TIMES!!

By Chuck Bentley, CEO CROWN FINANCIAL MINISTRIES The world is rapidly realigning. With headlines indicating that political leaders are calling for a new world order, a move from the dollar to a single global currency, and a unified global financial policy that governs the world’s largest economies, I believe we are witnesses to exciting prophetic signs of our times. In a complex business transaction, my father taught me a simple but helpful principle: “If you want to understand what is really going on in the deal, follow the money. That will tell you the real story.” In the same way, the Bible clearly delineates a path from the beginning of time to the very end that leaves a clear picture for us… simply follow the money. For years you’ve heard Crown talk about the practical financial applications found in God’s Word. Among the more than 2,300 Scriptures dealing with money and possessions, many are practical and proverbial, yet many are prophetic and bluntly foretell God’s response to our attitudes about money and possessions. For example, God warned the children

of Israel that spiritual disobedience would result in many curses, including economic hardship. “The foreigners living among you will become stronger and stronger, while you become weaker and weaker. They will lend money to you, but you will not lend to them. They will be the head, and you will be the tail!” (Deuteronomy 28:43-44 NLT). These words were spoken to the Israelites, but the principle is universally true. Interestingly, today 39.8 percent of the world’s Jewish population now lives in the United States while only 41.3 percent lives in Israel. Certainly, the U.S. is not Israel, but I don’t think we can dismiss this prophetic warning any more than the nation of Israel itself. God warned us that following His financial principles is related to national security. No nation has ever borrowed its way into prosperity. Many have borrowed their way to ruin.

A small college on the outskirts of Salem that educates and trains Christian ministers has made two enormous changes. One change is its name and structure; the other, its address. After many years of working closely with Salem Bible College (SBC), Northwest University (NU) in Kirkland, WA invited SBC to merge with NU. The merger, which was completed in November, makes Salem the first of Northwest’s distance campuses. SBC also moved in early December, making the fall a season of change. Northwest is a Christian liberal arts university, and its mission includes training vocational ministers. Seeking to expand the university’s efforts, Dr. Joseph Castleberry, President of Northwest University, is leading NU in developing creative educational opportunities for the purpose of equipping future church and ministry leaders. Joining hands with SBC is a first step in that endeavor. NU has recognized that SBC’s academic strength, sound management, and forwardthinking approach to training ministers is due to outstanding leadership by Dr. Carley Kendrick, who served as SBC’s president for 12 years. He continues to lead the Salem work, now as the Dean of the Salem Campus, and works with the exceptional team of leaders at Northwest and his Salem staff to further develop the Salem programs. For SBC, the merger means that Salem credits come under Northwest’s regional accreditation. SBC had started the process of accreditation and was accepted to Applicant Status with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) when merger discussions began. “Completing ABHE accreditation and achieving regional status probably would have taken another ten years on our own,” said Dr. Kendrick. “This merger pushed us a decade ahead.” In addition, Salem students who qualify have access to federal financial aid. The

College has new recruitment and networking opportunities, and more. If becoming part of the University was not enough, SBC of NU also changed its location in December. Formerly located on River Road North in the Gervais and Woodburn area, the College relocated to Bethel Park in Brooks. The Park, owned by the Oregon Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God, features private residences, office buildings, and facilities that are typical of Christian camps and retreat centers. One of the buildings, the 27,000 square-foot conference center, is the new home for SBC of NU. Utilizing the help of volunteers to prepare the new building and pack, move, and settle, SBC moved all its operations to Bethel Park at the end of the fall term. “Students were – and are – so excited about the move to a larger facility in such a beautiful location,” said Rev. Debbie Lamm Bray, Director of Academic Services. “It has been wonderful to see them enjoy all the space here. We as faculty and administration also love the beautiful setting and appreciate the exciting potential here.” “Being in this building is a tremendous blessing to us,” Kendrick said. “Our previous building was 4,000 square feet, so this is a major increase in space. It’s also allowing us to open dorms next fall.” Traditionally a commuter campus, SBC has drawn students from up to three hours away for its unconventional block-schedule classes that meet once each week. Beginning next fall, however, the College will offer on-campus dorm housing. “Residence halls will make SBC a viable option for students who live outside of the Willamette Valley, and for those who want the experience of living on a college campus,” said Lamm Bray. “They will also open an entirely new level of campus life. We’re really excited about the new energy and possibilities that will bring.” Opened in 1988, Salem Bible College was founded to provide an affordable, Pentecostal education for those considering or entering full-time Christian ministry. SBC of NU continues this

work by providing a professional degree in biblical and ministerial studies that fulfills academic requirements for ministry credentialing, and by enhancing the ministry of the local church by providing continuing education for leaders as well as training for members. “Our degree programs are designed to equip and train for thoughtful, creative, and passionate vocational ministry at varying levels,” said Lamm Bray. “The Associate degree prepares a student to enter vocational ministry, while the Bachelor of Science degree equips for longer-term, effective leadership in the church and other ministry settings.” Both degrees can be earned by attending part-time or full-time, and the non-traditional schedule allows students to attend one, two or three days of class each week. “SBC of NU students appreciate that throughout the College – in the classroom, student activities, chapel, and all of the student experience – there is an intentional focus on the primacy of the Bible and on ‘training disciples to make disciples’,” Lamm Bray continued, citing a key part of SBC’s vision statement. Graduates from these programs can be found throughout the world as pastors, missionaries, children’s ministers, youth ministers, and serving in a variety of non-traditional ministries. In addition, many graduates go on to complete graduate degrees. Salem Bible College of Northwest University offers two degree programs: the two-year Associate in Christian Leadership and the four-year Bachelor of Science in Christian Leadership. All credits are regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities; tuition is still among the lowest of Christian colleges and universities. Those desiring further information can contact the College at 503-304-0092 or sbcinfo@northwestu.edu.

Mini Cars..you don’t wanta get Hit; Says the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety

ARLINGTON, VA — Urban drivers often pick mini and microcars because they’re affordable, fuel efficient, and easy to park on city streets. Fender-benders are hazards of urban driving, and just one of them can add up to thousands of dollars in repair costs because the bumpers don’t adequately protect vehicles from damage. None of the bumpers on 7 mini and microcars tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earned the top rating of good, and just 1, the Smart Fortwo, is acceptable. Five out of the 7 earn poor ratings and 1 earns a marginal. New ratings system: These are the first bumper test results released under a new Institute ratings protocol that’s based on repair costs averaged and weighted to reflect real-world damage patterns. These averaged and weighted repair costs determine each vehicle’s overall rating of good, acceptable, marginal, or poor in 4 bumper tests representing full-width and corner crashes at low speeds. Weighted average repairs must be less than $500 for a good rating, less than $1,000 for acceptable, and less than $1,500 for marginal. Repairs of $1,500 or more earn bumpers a poor rating. Bumpers can be designed so there’s no damage in these low-speed impacts. At a minimum, repairs should cost less than the typical insurance deductible for a collision, which is $500. This is why we set the benchmark for a good rating at less than $500. Damage at this level may be only cosmetic, so consumers may choose not to bother with repairs. Likewise, $1,000 is about the cost of a new bumper cover, reinforcement bar, and paint, while $1,500 includes replacing vehicle parts like grilles and headlights. When you reach $1,000 the bumper isn’t doing its job, and anything $1,500 or higher is egregious.

Educational Seminar: Non-Traditional Investments with Tax Advantages By: Dale Kennedy We held our first joint education meeting with a select group of individuals recently and I thought it would be beneficial to write a brief recap of the topics covered. The theme of the evening was non-traditional investments and our focus was on investment vehicles that had some level of tax advantages to them. We primarily covered two specific items: Tenancy in Common (TIC) and oil and gas investments. Tenancy in Common or TIC’s as they are commonly referred to are simply a means by which people hold title to real estate. By itself, there is no specific tax advantage to TIC’s as opposed to many other ways that you can hold title. A 1031 Tenants In Common (TIC) property exchange is a special type of real estate that is intended to qualify as a 1031 tax-deferred exchange replacement property. A TIC is a percentage ownership of a typically large, high quality, even institutional grade, real estate investment. An owner of a TIC does not own a specific portion or section of the property, but instead owns a specific percentage of the property and receives a grant deed for the exact ownership percentage. Examples of 1031 exchange properties and TIC real estate include office buildings, shopping centers, apartment buildings, industrial properties, warehouses, triple net properties (NNN properties and NNN Leases), raw land, and even oil and gas interests. TIC provides you with the opportunity to potentially: 1. Eliminate capital-gains taxes and depreciation-recapture taxes at the time of sale. 2. Eliminate the need to find a property on your own in forty-five days.

3. Eliminate the day-to-day management responsibilities. 4. Increase the quality of your tenants and leases. 5. Increase your net after expense income. 6. Increase the earnings potential on real-estate appreciation. 7. Benefit from comprehensive third-party due diligence. 8. Receive additional significant tax savings. 9. Decrease risk through diversification. 10. Increase return potential through higher-quality tenants. 11. Benefit from non-recourse debt. 12. Simplify owning real estate. 13. Benefit from a very experienced management team. Oil and Gas properties can also be useful tax-advantaged investments. In addition to the ability to help diversify your investment portfolio, there are currently Intangible Drilling Costs (IDC’s) and depletion that can have some uses in tax planning. Alternative investments are often speculative, lack liquidity, lack diversification, are not subject to the same regulatory requirements as mutual funds, may involve complex tax structures and delays in distributing important tax information, and may involve substantial fees. These products often execute trades on non-U.S. exchanges. Investing in foreign markets may entail risks that differ from those associated with investments in U.S. markets. These investments may not be appropriate for all investors. NFP Securities, Inc. does not offer tax or legal advice.

local & market place news local and market place Dave says Dear Dave, A couple of years ago my parents got into a big financial mess. They filed bankruptcy, and had to give up their house. Now, they lived on a fixed income of $2,220 a month, and my dad is not in good health. My wife and I help them out with a little money each month, but my sister and her husband don’t do much for them. Do you think I should lean on her a little bit in an effort to make her pitch in and help? Randy Dear Randy, If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that you can’t make another adult behave. The only person you can control is the one you look at in mirror every morning. Now, should a son or daughter want to help their parents, especially if one is in poor health, and the money’s tight? Absolutely! But family relationships are strange animals.

Your sister and her husband may have some bruised feelings from something that happened years ago, or they may be having money problems of their own. At this point, all you can do is try to gauge their interest in this idea. For starters, I’d suggest working up a monthly budget on your parents. I’m talking about a simple, one-page document, and show it to your sister and her husband. Let them know that mom and dad need a little help, and ask if they’d be willing to join you guys by chipping in a little money each month to help out your parents. Present the idea as you guys partnering with each other to help out, and be sure you don’t get into any fingerwagging, or lectures about responsibility. That kind of stuff is a real turn off, and it can get thrown back in your face in a hurry! - Dave

Faith and Family night at Volcanos stadium Once again the Volcanoes will be having the Faith and Family night at the Volcano Stadium. We have picked the date of 17th of August. We have a great guest, Andrew Palau, the son of Luis Palau. Andrew has just come back from an evangelistic tour in Guatemala where both he and his father ministered to 425,000 souls. He will return from Rwanda to be at the Volcanoes. This will be a fine time to meet with Andrew and members of his family in the BBQ area. Also Andrew Palau will be throwing out the honorary first ball. If anyone has a suggestion for additional ideas for that day, please let me know. The Faith & Family Night is a work in progress at this time. We are working on a single night for the Catholic Church. The Archbishop will be throwing out the first ball. If any other denominations with a large amount of churches would like to have a night especially for them apart from the other churches, and would like to address the members in the BBQ area and throw out the first ball, please contact me ASAP. Reserve tickets are normally $10 but are discounted $1 as a group. We have a Group/ BBQ that includes an All You Can Eat BBQ that costs only $19.95. This would include a Reserve Seat ticket, free souvenir, a chance

at a door prize, the all you can eat BBQ and a professional single A baseball game. You can get just a ticket to a game, ($7, $9, $11, $13, $20) as well as the Group/BBQ. A group is normally 25 plus individuals. It would be a great place to come and meet fellow believers and a place that a church may bring a person that normally would not attend anything with a believer. It would be a chance to see the church in public. If you have any suggestions please contact me, any idea would be greatly appreciated. You are not restricted to the Faith & Family Night. You may wish to set an alternate night that is good for your individual church group. We look forward to having you attend as a church and allow our fans to enjoy your company and for you to be an example as people of faith. A special link has been produced for the Faith & Family event at the park that is done by internet; no collecting, no holding money and tickets, you can print your tickets at your work station or home. Please contact me soon to set up great seats. To join in the night just type the following link in your address bar. local & market place news local and market place A Teaching from Torah to the Tribes By Even Baruch Flavius Claudius Constantinus (Constantine) defeated Emperor Valerius Licinianus in 324 AD, ending most persecution of the Christian church, but making way for an even greater confrontation. Though Constantine himself was involved in sun god worship, his empire was predominantly Christian in one form or another. Emperor Constantine called for the bishops to convene and directed them to come to a decision that would keep the empire unified in Christendom. The council was represented by two main branches of Christianity - Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox (the early Christians were catholic, pre-protestant movement). However, the first to follow the risen

Messiah were not Christians or Catholics, but were Hebrews and Jews of the sect called The Way (Acts 9:2 & 19:23). Constantine mixed portions of the truth of the Jewish Messiah and created new forms of worship, making it difficult for Jews and Biblical followers of The Way to follow Yahweh, the God of the Bible. How does that effect me, I’m not Jewish? Heb 5:12 “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.” Rom 3:1-2 “What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?

Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.” Acts 7:38-41 “This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt, saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.” In effect, Constantine, the sun god

worshiper, set aside the very people whom Yahweh God had entrusted with His own instructions for holy or “set apart” living -- “the Jews.” Instead, he oppressed the ones that the scripture says were given the authority of Yahweh’s oracles. Instead of staying in the true worship of YHWH as given to Moses and explained in full by the Messiah Yahshua (Jesus the Savior and Messiah), he did just what the children of Israel did in the wilderness by mixing the true faith of Yahweh with pagan worship . It is incumbent on each of us to call things holy and “set apart” that YHWH identifies, and toss the rest to the dung pile of history.

Dear Mr. President,

You face difficult challenges in matters such as achieving peace in the Middle East and protecting America from the threat of radical Islam and terrorism. These are challenges that have vexed past presidents, going as far back as our second president, John Adams. I have no doubt you appreciate both the gravity of these challenges and the enormous obstacles that exist to solving them. I also have no doubt that you and your staff understood that, no matter what you said in your speech last Thursday in Cairo, there would be those who would take issue with you. That is always the case when attempting to solve problems that are as deep and emotionally-laden as these challenges are. I am assuming it is your sincere hope that the approach you have chosen to take, as evidenced by what I'm sure was a carefully crafted speech, will ultimately prove successful. However, it pains

6 THE JC TOWN REPORTER

me to say this sir, but, while you said in your speech that you are a "student of history," it is abundantly clear that, in these matters, you do not know history and thus, as Santayana noted, you are doomed to repeat it. In doing so, your efforts, however well-intentioned they may be, will not produce what you profess to hope they will produce. A wise man once said that if you start with the wrong assumptions, no matter how logical your reasoning is, you will end up with the wrong conclusion. With all due respect Mr. President, you are starting with certain assumptions that are unsupported by history and an objective study of the ideology of political Islam. You began in your speech by asserting that "tensions" exist between the United States and Muslims around the world, which, of course, is correct. Unfortunately, you then proceeded, incorrectly, to lay virtually all the blame for these tensions at the feet of America and the West. You blamed western colonialism, the

Cold War, and even globalism. A student of American history, who is not trying to reconstruct it to fit a modern politically correct narrative, would state that tensions between America and Muslims began with the unprovoked, four-decades long assault by the Muslim Barbary pirates against American shipping in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. I find it telling that you mentioned the Treaty of Tripoli in your speech but ignored the circumstances that led to it. That treaty was but one of numerous attempts by the United States to achieve peace with the jihadists of the Barbary Coast who were attacking our shipping and killing and enslaving our citizens and our soldiers and who, by their own admission, were doing so to fulfill the call to jihad. These jihadists were not acting to protest American foreign policy, which was decidedly isolationist, and there was no state of Israel

to scapegoat. They were doing what countless Islamic jihadists have done throughout history, acting upon the hundreds of passages in the Qur'an and the Hadith that call upon faithful Muslims to kill, conquer or subjugate the infidel.

Has the Ark of the Covenant been found? By Jamie Louis An amateur Biblical archeologist, who claimed to have found the Ark of the Covenant directly below the crucifixion site of Jesus Christ, died after giving a deathbed interview to WorldNetDaily. Noah's Ark, Sodom and Gomorrah, the Ark of the Covenant, the crucifixion site of Jesus Christ, and more have been the subject of controversial claims made by Ron Wyatt who spent much of his life documenting sites and events from the Bible. On August 9, 1999, Ron Wyatt died following a lengthy battle with cancer, just a few days after his last telephone interview. His quest, to provide information that would lead to more people accepting the teachings of the Bible, continues at Wyatt Archaeological Research, a non-profit, nondenominational organization in Tennessee. According to Wyatt, he was able to physically locate the Ark of the Covenant, the container for the original tablets of the Ten Commandments, with the Mercy Seat intact on the top. It was found in a chamber just outside the walls of ancient Jerusalem about 20 feet below what Wyatt also claimed was the actual site of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Wyatt said he found an earthquake crack directly below where the cross would have been. "When Christ died, the earth quaked. The rock was split right below His cross and this crevice extended right down into the hidden chamber which contained the undefiled 'earthly' Throne of God -- the Ark with its Mercy Seat," explained Wyatt in one of his research letters. "After Christ was dead, when the centurion stuck his spear into His side and pierced His spleen, the blood and water came out, falling down through

that crack and was sprinkled on the Mercy Seat." The crucifixion site was found on the side of the Golgotha hill, or, Place of the Skull, just outside the old north wall of Jerusalem, not far from the Garden Tomb. It was discovered under many feet of soil with actual holes in the rock where crosses were placed, and niches in the rock wall behind where three signs were placed. The large circular stone used to cover the garden tomb was also located there, and it was all surrounded by the foundation of a first century building. The central, main cross hole has an earthquake crack beside it. The Bible teaches the concept of sacrifice of animals, symbolic of the actual blood sacrifice Christ would make. During this ancient rite, the High Priest was the only one who could physically sprinkle the blood on the Mercy Seat. Wyatt said it was an act of God that everything was in the right place, and there was an earthquake. By permitting himself to be sacrificed, Christ, regarded by the Bible as the great High Priest, was able to place his own blood upon the Mercy Seat as that great and final act in the process of blood sacrifice. Wyatt believed that the Ark of the Covenant, along with other sacred objects from the first Temple in Jerusalem, were all secreted away just prior to the entrance of the Babylonians into the city about 600 years before the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. There are many tunnels beneath Jerusalem even to this day. These most sacred objects were protected in a chamber and the entrance was sealed and hidden. Photographic evidence of Wyatt’s site was obtained, and then the site was covered back over with 12 feet of dirt and a garden

Capitalism

A capitalist these days has become anathema among many historical revisionists, liberal universities, and think tanks. This word is defined in our dictionaries as "an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange of wealth (capital) is made and maintained chiefly by private investors

or corporations." In other words, how one succeeds depends on himself and his own willingness and desire. This, too, is the basic scriptural definition, for 'capital' comes from the Hebrew chafatz. In Hebrew, the "ch" has a "k" sound and the "f" has an alternative hard "p" sound. As the word evolved through

established. Wyatt says it was landscaped to avoid controversy. The entrance to the system of caves and tunnels, found by the Wyatt team in the cliff wall, was also sealed over. Wyatt claimed that he was authorized to make his excavations by the Antiquities Department, but that bureaucrats within that agency insisted that his findings must be kept secret. Wyatt has made public a significant amount of his research and findings, but he has withheld certain documents and photographs to comply with the agreement he made with Israeli officials. His refusal to provide everything resulted in criticism from some. Wyatt did not make any claims of grandeur, nor did he claim to be a prophet. He said his only role was to be a willing servant. "God has a way of communicating his wishes to people, and I'm not the only one able to do that, so I don't flatter myself to think that I'm something special. I was there, I was willing, so therefore God allowed me this privilege. There are others who are in communication with Him. There are others who are familiar with this material and will see that it is presented," Wyatt told WorldNetDaily just before his death. Wyatt explained, "They've been taught something else all their life. So God is doing this show-and-tell through these revelations and these discoveries to prove to them real quick that the Bible is historically accurate and divinely inspired." He referenced Jeremiah 16:19-21, predicting unbelievers will come from all parts of the earth to learn of the discoveries. “O Lord, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, ‘Surely our fathers have lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.’

Shall a man make gods unto himself, which are not gods? Therefore behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know My hand and My might; and they shall know that My name is the Lord." Wyatt continued, "This last revelation is for the inhabitants of the earth who don't have a clue, as well as for those of us who do have a clue and have been commissioned by Christ to reach out to help bring these people who don't have a clue into the fold. These are tools that God has given the believers to strengthen their faith and to use to reach out. They are tools that will be extremely effective in the last pouring out to the entire population, all inhabitants of the earth." WorldNetDaily has examined extensive evidence regarding the various claims and discoveries made by Wyatt. Several critics have been found who have voiced their opinion that the work of Wyatt Archeological Research is fraudulent, but no evidence was found to support those charges. The evidence is sufficient to conclude that Wyatt's team conducted the claimed archeological digs and investigations. WorldNetDaily is not qualified to determine the value of the evidence. Wyatt was given a deathbed opportunity to either reaffirm or recant his claims. He chose to reaffirm all that he has claimed without hesitation.

Yesha'yahu 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I PLEASE, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Mizmor 135:6 Whatsoever YHVH PLEASED, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. I believe YHVH was quite the capitalist!?! Shalom Alecheim!

Need for Gloom and Doom? The truth about the end of days

By Daniel Rendelman A recent Newsmax cover story featured a lengthy discussion about the return of Jesus and possible apocalyptic events. According to the feature, “public buzz about the Biblical last days is at its highest level since 9/11.” The Pew Research Center recntly found that 79% of American Christians believe in the Second Coming of Christ. Today the doomsday prophet is not some bearded man with a placard proclaiming “the end is near.” Instead, gloom and doom seems to be the message of newspapers, the Internet, and television. News headlines read like Bible prophecy. “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven,” Luke 21:11. On any given day, there are wars in 30 to 40 nations in the world. Rumors of wars swarm about Israel, Iran, and Korea. Over seven million people have died since 1970 due to war. Pestilence continues to grow as new “super bugs” are becoming resistant to drug treatment. The H1N1 swine flu is spreading faster than the Center for Disease Control can track. And the HIV Aids virus has killed more than 25 million since 1981. HIV is at pandemic levels in many areas including China, Asia, and Africa. Famine as well is wide spread throughout the planet. The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is under-fed while another one-third is starving. Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger. Such horrible news isn’t new. The world has always had false messiahs, wars, ethnic violence, starvation, disease, and earthquakes. The Savior said that the last days would see such events increase in frequency and size. “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in diverse places. All these are the beginning of birth pangs,” Matthew 24:7-8.

Perhaps the surest sign that time is short is the return of the nation of Israel to the Middle East. To Israel the Almighty said, “I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land,” Ezekiel 36:24. Many prophecy teachers consider the reestablishment of Jerusalem as the capital city as THE sign of an impending apocalypse. “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled,” Luke 21:24. The Messiah promised that the generation that saw such a miracle would certainly behold His return. (Matthew 24:34) Does this mean that the return of Jesus is imminent? Well, many sorrows have begun, but there is still more that must occur before the eastern sky splits. To state that “Jesus could return at any time” is to ignore numerous statements in the Scripture about the rise of an anti-Christ leader and a huge world war against the tiny nation of Israel. How can a person prepare for the coming of Revelation? What should someone do about the mark of the beast? Some believers are storing food while others are learning survival skills. Many are buying gold in anticipation of the collapse of the dollar. The Savior addresses such a dilemma when He said, “Watch and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things and stand before the Son of Man,” Luke 21:36. The world will come to an end one day. Between now and then, it’s important to focus on Spiritual growth. The pursuit of holiness will guide the believer through whatever the future holds. Listen to the voice of the Spirit. If you are led to take certain precautions then do so. Don’t allow fear of Armageddon stop you from living an abundant life.

R. Bechaye writes that when God's presence filled the Tabernacle, He said: "Today I am causing My Presence to rest among you; if you sin, My Presence will leave you. But when Messiah comes, My Presence will remain with you permanently. Now you see the Divine Presence through fire, but with the advent of the Messiah you will see it clearly revealed, as it is written: "For eye to eye shall they see when God returns to Zion." (Tz'enah Ur'enah) Commentary Then God spoke all these words, saying, "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery." (Exodus 20:1-2) The Festival of Shavuot (Pentecost) is the anniversary of the giving of the Torah and the giving of the Holy Spirit. As part of the commemoration, the Ten Commandments are read publicly in the Assembly on the Feast of Shavuot. According to the traditional reckoning, the first commandment is simply, "I am the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery." (Exodus 20:1-2) The first commandment is to believe in God and to accept His claim of ownership

over us. Unless we accept the basic premise of God's existence, no number of commandments will have any authority or meaning for us. The need for such a command demonstrates the incongruity of ascribing to morality without believing in a moral authority. If we accept the premise of objective morality, we must accept that there is a higher authority issuing that objective standard. We also learn from this that redemption must precede commandments. Before we can receive the Torah, we must already be 'saved.' Israel's salvation from Egypt was not accorded to her on the basis of her obedience to the commandments. She was already redeemed (on no merit of her own) before the laws at Sinai were given to her. Thus the first declaration at Sinai is a reminder of their redeemed status. Only BECAUSE they are already saved are they able to receive the commands of God. True legalism continually attempts to reverse this process by claiming that one's obedience to certain commandments (or all the commandments) is the mechanism by which salvation is earned. The first of the Ten Commandments directly contradicts this notion. Salvation and relationship with God precedes the Torah.

Obama's 'war against churches and charities' According to “Onenewsnow” writer Jim Brown, Author and political commentator Newt Gingrich of American Solutions calls President Obama's tax program a "war against churches and charities." Gingrich accuses President Obama of "deliberately" trying to take away the charitable deduction for successful people so they will not give as much money to churches or charities. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich goes on to say that President Obama's plan to raise taxes on upper-income earners is designed to create bigger government and a more secular America. "I think there's a clear desire to replace the church with a bureaucracy, and to replace people's right to worship together with

a government-dominated system," he contends. The former House Speaker says the Obama administration is talking seriously about taking away the right of conscience in terms of performing abortions. "This is the most aggressive, militant, secular program I can remember," Gingrich admits. "And I think you have to be really clearly aware that they want an America which is radically different than the country which was created by those pioneers who first landed back in 1607 at Cape Henry and erected a cross to thank God for having allowed them to cross the Atlantic Ocean." Brown goes on to say that Gingrich believes people often forget that the first act of the first successful American colony was to "erect a cross at Cape H e n r y, t o thank God for their survival and their salvation, and then to go up to J a m e s t o w n t o f o u n d t h e c o l o n y. Quotes From the Quran-Koran on the "Peaceful" Nature of the Islamic faith...

By Don Wyant, Jr. Does the Quran advocate violence toward non-Muslims? Read the following Quran quotes: The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land....(Quran; Surah 5:33) ...beware of them lest they seduce you from some part of that which Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away know that Allah's will is to smite them... (Quran; Surah 5:49) ...Take not the Jews and Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who takes them for friends is one of them. Lo! Allah guides not these wrongdoing people. (Quran Surah 5:51) And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can overcome. Lo! They cannot escape. Make ready for them all you can by armed force...(Quran; Surah 8:59-60a) ...slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive, and besiege them, and prepare to ambush them. But if they repent and establish

[Islamic] worship...their way is free. Lo! Allah is forgiving and Merciful. (Quran; Surah 9:5) ...Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them...(Quran; Surah 9:73) You can make your own judgments about Islam based on your experience, what you read and what you know or you can listen to the advocates of “peace” and be deceived by the End-time Beast system that is joining with the ecumenism of the world system and Rome. Whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Mormon or a New Age Seeker, without the firm foundation found in the whole Word of Yahweh (God), including the original covenant Books of the Torah, you will be deceived. Times are changing and despite popular doctrines to the contrary, even those who believe the truth will suffer Tribulation. A major part of that persecution starts from within the “Church” against each other, especially those who practice the faith of our Fathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses and will spread to the acceptance of a false religion that is a Christian blend, accepting of Islam (Rev. 12:17). Be careful. The choices you make have eternal consequences.

It Is Getting Very Serious Now

By Chuck Baldwin

First, it was a Missouri Analysis and Information Center (MIAC) report; then it was a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) report; now it is a New York congressman's bill. Each of these items, taken on their own, is problematic enough; taken together they portend "a clear and present danger" to the liberties of the American people. It is getting very serious now. As readers may recall, the MIAC report profiled certain people as being potential violence-prone "militia members," including people who supported Presidential candidates Ron Paul, Bob Barr, and myself. In addition, anyone who opposed one or more of the following were also included in the list: the New World Order, the U.N., gun control, the violation of Posse Comitatus, the Federal Reserve, the Income Tax, the Ammunition Accountability Act, a possible Constitutional Convention, the North American Union, the Universal Service Program, Radio Frequency identification (RFID), abortion on demand, or illegal immigration. The MIAC report prompted a firestorm of protest, and was eventually rescinded, with

the man responsible for its distribution being dismissed from his position. The DHS report profiled many of the same people included in the MIAC report, and added returning Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans as potentially dangerous "extremists." As I have said before, it is very likely that when all of the opinions and views of the above lists are counted, 75% or more of the American people would be included. Yet, these government reports would have law enforcement personnel to believe we are all dangerous extremists that need to be watched and guarded against. If this was not bad enough, a New York congressman has introduced a bill in the House of Representatives to deny Second Amendment rights to everyone listed above. According to World Net Daily (WND), May 9, 2009, "A new gun law being considered in Congress, if aligned with Department of Homeland Security memos labeling everyday Americans as potential 'threats,' could potentially deny firearms to pro-lifers, gun-rights advocates, tax protesters, animal rights activists, and a

host of others - any already on the expansive DHS watch list for potential 'extremism.'” Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., has sponsored H.R. 2159, the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009, which permits the attorney general to deny transfer of a firearm to any 'known or suspected dangerous terrorist.' The bill requires only that the potential firearm transferee is 'appropriately suspected' of preparing for a terrorist act and that the attorney general 'has a reasonable belief' that the gun might be used in connection with terrorism. Gun rights advocates, however, object to the bill's language, arguing that it enables the federal government to suspend a person's Second Amendment rights without any trial or legal proof and only upon suspicion of being 'dangerous.' WND quotes Gun Owners of America Executive Director Larry Pratt as saying, "By [DHS] standards, I'm one of [DHS Secretary] Janet Napolitano's terrorists. This bill would enable the attorney general to put all of the people who voted against Obama

on no-gun lists, because according to the DHS, they're all potential terrorists. Actually, we could rename this bill the Janet Napolitano Frenzied Fantasy Implementation Act of 2009." Pratt was also quoted as saying, "Unbeknownst to us, some bureaucrat in the bowels of democracy can put your name on a list, and your Second Amendment rights are toast." He went on to say, "This is such an anti-American bill, this is something King George III would have done." Now that DHS has established both a list and a lexicon for ‘extremists,’ it looks to Congress to confer upon it police-state-style powers through which these individuals may be disarmed and eventually done away with. Rep. Peter King is accommodating this goal with H.R. 2159. Let me ask a reasonable question: how long does anyone think it would be, after being profiled by DHS and denied the lawful purchase of firearms, that those same people would be subjected to gun confiscation? And how long do you think it would be before DHS began profiling Continued on page 14

faith and politics faith and politics Pastors win challenge to political involvement IRS rules voter education on moral issues, registration permissible

By Drew Zahn © 2009 WorldNetDaily Reprinted by Permission

In a decision that holds ramifications for churches around the country, the Internal Revenue Service found that a non-profit organization that gathered pastors to a series of public policy conferences did not violate the political entanglement laws governing its tax-exempt status. Prompted by a complaint filed by the Texas Freedom Network, which calls itself "a mainstream voice to counter the religious right," the IRS investigated the Houston-based Niemoller Foundation for organizing, during the 2006 election season, six pastors briefings which included speeches from prominent politicians and training for pastors on urging and registering their congregations to vote. Despite charges that the foundation had therefore engaged in political partisan activity in violation of its tax exempt status, the IRS investigation found "no evidence of political intervention." "This liberal attempt to intimidate pastors

has backfired," said Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel of Liberty Legal Institute, which represented event organizers. "There is now a clear IRS statement outlining these pastors' events and approving them as valid under the law." Hiram Sasser, director of litigation for the Institute, further explained to World Net Daily the ramifications the ruling holds for churches. "The Niemoller Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, just like a church," Sasser explained. "So by the Niemoller activities being granted as lawful, then any church that engages in the same kind of voter education combined with voter registration drives on the moral issues of the day is perfectly fine with the IRS regulations, according to the IRS itself." Sasser reiterated, "The whole point was to educate everyone about the important social issues and get them to go vote and register others to vote, and the IRS said this was perfectly okay." The Niemoller Foundation organized six of the pastors’ conferences across the state of Texas from May through September 2006. The events were described as briefings to educate pastors on major moral issues that often intersect with politics, such as abortion and same sex marriage. And while neither the foundation nor the gatherings endorsed any individual candidates or political party, keynote speakers at the conferences included prominent Republican politicians, including

Texas Governor Rick Perry, who spoke at all six conferences. In its letter to the IRS, the Texas Freedom Network complained, "No other candidate for governor in the 2006 elections – including then sitting state Comptroller Carole Strayhorn (a Republican who sought election as an independent in the gubernatorial election) or a Democrat or other independent candidate – was invited to attend any of the briefings." Pointing to the selection of speakers and the effort to train pastors in voter registration, the Texas Freedom Network accused the Neimoller Foundation of "partisan electioneering activities." The complaint alleged the Foundation "appears to have served as a partisan votermobilization tool for the Perry reelection campaign, with affiliated pastors encouraged to use their churches as partisan, political extensions of that campaign." After reviewing speeches and other materials from the pastors gatherings, however, the IRS did not concur. "The speaker did not state anything that would have been considered political or request any action of the attendees to vote for or against any legislation," the IRS ruling, released last week, states. "In the speeches provided, no political intervention type activity was noted. Several other speeches by politicians were provided and reviewed: The speeches did not appear to be made in their capacity as a candidate, since no solicitation was made

for a vote. Also no appeal was made to sway anyone on the issues. The speeches did not appear to be political intervention. An appeal was made to request attendees to vote and to request their members to register and vote, but in each instance observed they were told to vote their values." While the IRS does forbid tax exempt organizations under the 501(c)(3) code from overt political entanglements – such as endorsing candidates or requiring members to vote in a certain way – the Liberty Legal Institute's Kelly Shackelford encouraged churches not to be intimidated into political silence. "Be careful what you hear from these liberal organizations," Shackelford said in a statement. "They sound very confident and file many complaints, yet none are found valid even by the IRS." Laurence White, director of the Niemoller Foundation and a Lutheran pastor himself, encouraged churches and pastors to get involved. "We educate churches on moral issues facing our society and encourage them to participate in the democratic process," said White in a statement. "The IRS has unequivocally affirmed the right of pastors nationwide to come together as spokesmen for the Word of God, to interact with political leaders, historians and scholars in discussing the moral issues under debate within our culture and to assert their biblical responsibility to address such issues from their pulpits."

is also reported to have told Medvedev, "By September we'll have confiscated all privately owned guns so it really doesn't matter what we do, we'll still be in charge." (Even though the national news media has not reported this statement, the Internet is abuzz with Kissinger having said it. Whether Kissinger actually made that statement or not, he, and rest of his ilk, have repeatedly called for a New World Order in which there will be no constitutional protection for the right to keep and bear arms.) This leads to a very serious question: how many of America's gun owners would allow their government to deny them gun ownership? Further, how many would passively sit back and allow their guns to be confiscated? As humbly and meekly as I know how to say it: “As for me and my house, gun confiscation is the one act of tyranny that crosses the line. Debate, discourse, discussion, and peaceful dissent cease and desist at that point.

I say again, it is getting very serious now.” http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/donate. php

It’s getting serious now: Continuted from page 13 more and more groups of people, thus subjecting them to gun confiscation? This was exactly the strategy employed by Adolf Hitler. The Jews were the first people denied their civil rights - especially the right to own and possess firearms. Of course, after disarming Jews, the rest of the German citizenry was likewise disarmed. And we all know where that led. I'm not sure how many of the American people realize that it was the attempted confiscation of the colonialists' cache of arms in Concord, Massachusetts, that started America's War for Independence. Yes, my friends, it was attempted gun confiscation that triggered (pun intended) the "shot heard 'round the world." And now it would appear that, once again, a central government is on the verge of trying to deny the American people their right to keep and bear arms. I am told that as of 2004, 50% of the adults in the United States own one or more firearms, totaling some 270 million privately

14 THE JC TOWN REPORTER

owned firearms nationwide. I would venture to say that the vast majority of these gun owners would find themselves matching the DHS profile of a potential ‘extremist.’ I wonder how many gun owners realize the way they are now being targeted by their government, and just how serious - and how close - the threat of gun confiscation has become? If one doubts the intention of the elitists in government today to deny the American people their right to keep and bear arms, consider what former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger is purported to have said just a couple of weeks ago. Kissinger attended a high-level meeting with Russian President Medvedev that also included former Secretaries of State James Baker and George Shultz; former Secretary of Defense William Perry; and former Senator Sam Nunn. Included in the discussions was Kissinger's assertion that the American people were now ready to accept a “New Global Order." He
