THE STORY OF THE MARGARITA

Page 1

She is from Mexico and her name is Margarita

M

ore than a woman's name... The Margarita Cocktail was created in 1938 in honour of a beautiful Mexican showgirl named Rita de la Rosa. A bartender, inspired by her electrifying performance, improvised a cocktail to capture her heart with Jose CuervoÂŽ tequila and the flavour of Mexican limes. Ever since then the Jose CuervoÂŽ Margarita continues to capture the hearts of so many around the world. The search for the origin of Margarita is probably one of the most exciting journeys one could take and discover the colourful history of beautiful Mexico with its flavours, aromas and of course the magic world of tequila.

Well, nobody has discovered the one and only true story, yet!

O

ne can hear many stories of beautiful women from Texas high society and Baja California, gorgeous movie stars from the 40s who claimed the creation of Margarita. Bartenders were also staking their claim, their stories making the trips to the endless, beautiful beaches of Mexico.

Margarita Mexicana The Margarita owes its character to tequila, the spirit that captures the heart & soul of Mexico, including its traditions, its magic, and its history. Tequila infuses the Margarita with fun and gives it an edge over other cocktails and spirits. The making of the Margarita can be tailored to any occasion, or to whatever equipment is available. Depending on whether you are at home, or mixing the drink professionally, the creation of this cocktail will vary. The ingredients can be spontaneously tossed into a shaker or assembled with focus and care. The one consistent factor should be passion, and the freshness and quality of the ingredients. A well-made and well-balanced Margarita is perfect for any occasion, informal or formal, day or night.

Facts T

here are many things that we can say about this cocktail with certainty that no one can doubt. First, it is the most popular tequila based cocktail in the world. The other truth is that Margarita was the reason for tequila to become a world renowned spirit, helping the category by “hiding” the slightly “harsh” taste that tequila had back then. Since 90s the Margarita has been in the TOP 5 of the World’s most famous cocktails, which has helped the spirit become a bartenders “best friend”.

MARGARITA = TEQUILA+CITRUS+SWEETENER Margarita belongs to the sour category and not the Martini or any other category.

ONE THING IS FOR SURE, THANKS TO JOSE CUERVO, THE MARGARITA BECAME A GLOBAL STAR.
