COME ON music they are now becoming personalities like Steve Aoki and Afrojack which people are attracted to. Do you ever encounter creative differences when playing or writing music? LIV: Yeah all the time, we are each other’s biggest critic and each other’s biggest fan, it’s a healthy balance and we’re brutally honest with each other. They will be times behind the decks where I’m like, ‘You should never have played that record Mim’ and vice versa. I couldn’t imagine djing every night on my own, we really enjoy ourselves together it’s so much fun. How do you think your relationship as sisters helps your collaborative process? LIV: We really understand each other in the studio, sometimes I just need to flash Mim a look and she gets what I need and when we’re jamming it’s really important we read each other. When we’re really on a roll it’s an amazing feeling. MIM: For me it’s like that feeling when you’re mixing two records and they fit and work really well together or like the dynamics in a really good band. What sounds are influencing your music at the moment? LIV: Ummet Ozcan is an amazing producer who we have been lucky enough to work with. We’re influenced a lot by our friends like R3hab, Fedde Le Grande kicks it and keeps it groovy, David Guetta’s records get better and better and the Showtek boys are on fire … there are so so many. When song writing what are some of the key components you consider? MIM: Sonically we’re big melody girls and lyric wise our inspiration comes from everyday life. LIV: A record has to have heart. I think it’s important for a lyric to come from something real. Tell me about your gig at Amnesia last night? LIV: Well we’ve hardly slept, we played an unannounced gig at Amnesia, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrick, Chuckie, Paris Hilton, Stephen Dorff … everyone was there. I stage dived off the stage twice and in the end hurt my ankle a little, the Wolfpack boys also did it. It was a really good fun vibe and then afterwards we went to see Solomun. Where else do you like partying in Ibiza? MIM: I love DC10, DC10 on a Monday is unreal and if we fly in on a Sunday we always go to see Solomun. LIV: Our Monday ritual is DC10 and then we always end up at Cocoon. You both style yourselves on tour and for shoots where do you go to buy your outfits?

NERVO ‘We’ve worked so hard in our industry behind the scenes, to step out and be releasing records in our own name is a whole different energy.’ ESP “Hemos trabajado tan duro en nuestra industria desde el anonimato, el poder irrumpir en la escena y publicar discos con nuestro propio nombre es algo totalmente diferente”.

MIM NERVO ‘You can be creative in many ways ... from wearing crazy clothes and great make up to playing insane tunes. It’s all good.’ ESP ”Hay muchas maneras de ser creativo... desde llevar ropa alocada y un maquillaje fantástico a pinchar temas buenísimos. Todo es bueno”.

MIM: We picked up a lot of what we are wearing for the shoot in Tokyo, where we’ve just come from, we love Tokyo. We also pick up stuff from all over the world, Liv will get her leather jackets in Tel Aviv and I’ll pick up pieces at Fairfax market in LA. LIV: We’re really lucky as designers will often send us stuff or reach out to us. We also literally live out of two suitcases on tour so we like things that are easy to wash, lycra has become our best friend because it dries so quickly and looks great. What are your plans for the rest of this year and future projects? MIM: The album is done and we are signing it right now to a new label so hopefully we’ll have a single out before the end of the year and then we’re gonna go home to Australia to spend some time with our family and do some work in the studio. ESP.
