Dearparentsandguardians, OctoberhasbeenabusyandmemorablemonthatHamilton,whichhasseenushostarangeofevents forourstudents,parentsandinternationalvisitors
ThemonthkickedoffwithWorldTeachersDay,providingourentirecommunitywiththeopportunity tothankourwonderfulHamiltonteachersfortheirhardworkanddedication Ourteacherswere gratefultobetreatedtosomedeliciousdrinksfromthecoffeestallinreception,aswellasthekind wishestheyreceivedfromchildrenandparents.
WealsohadthehonorofhostingtheStreetChildUnitedWorldCupteams,consistingofover250 streetchildrenfromaroundtheworld,andover200volunteersandstaff Thestreetchildrenjoined ourSecondarySchoolstudentsfortheday,experiencinglessonsinarangeofsubjects.Forsomeof thesechildren,thismaywellhavebeentheirfirstexperienceinaschoolsetting Laterintheday,our ParentCouncilorganizedafeastforallofourvisitors ThiswasfollowedbytheLateShow,where variousteamsperformedonstage,includingourownPrimarySchoolChoir,infrontofapacked audienceinthetheatre.Manyofourfamilies,thenwentontosupporttheteamsastheyplayedinthe StreetChildWorldCupinOxygenParkthefollowingweekend.
DuringOctober,Hamiltonhasalsoundergonetwoimportantexternalauditsandinspections ThefirstwastheISPsafeguardingAudit,whichwasa2 dayvisitfocusingonourpracticesand proceduresrelatingtokeepingourchildrensafeinschool.Weweredelightedwiththepositive feedbackthatwereceived Weareproudtosaythatinspeakingtotheauditorourstudentsdescribed theschoolasahappy,safe,respectfulandcaringplace Theauditorcommentedusforourlearning environmentanddescribedhervisitasapleasure! Thisvisitwasthenfollowedbya3 dayMandatory VisitbytheMoEHEwhichisnowcompulsoryforallnewschools.Thevisitwasarealsuccess.We receivedpositivecommentsrelatingtoourmissionandvision,teachingandlearning,ourcurriculum, studentwelfare,communitypartnerships,andleadership Wenowawaittheofficialwrittenfeedback
WecelebratedWorldMentalHealthDaythismonth,raisingawarenessviaaParentCoffeeMorning, wearinggreen,andthroughactivitieswithinhomeroomclassesandassemblies
InourSecondarySchool,wealsohostedourfirstISPUniversityFair ThisgaveourGrade9and10 studentsandtheirparents,theopportunitytolearnaboutuniversitycoursesandentryrequirements, aswellaspotentialcareerpathways,astheymetwithrepresentativesfromsomeofthebest universitiesinthecountry
Asthemonthdrewtoaclose,someofourPrimarystudentshadtheopportunitytotakepartinfootball matchesagainstanumberofschoolsaspartofthePrimarySchoolsFootballFestival.Wearereally excitedtoseeoursportingopportunitiesopenupagaininQatarandhopethatthiswillbethefirstof many
WehavealsocelebratedScienceWeekinourupperPrimaryandSecondarySchool,withstudents enjoyingsomespectacularscienceexperiments,adressasa‘madscientist’dayandasciencequiz
Toroundoffthemonth,October31stwerecognizedCancerAwarenessDay Thisissomethingthatis deartomanypeople’shearts,andwehelpedtoraiseawarenesswithourpinkribbons,non uniform dayandin schoolactivities
AsIconcludethisletter,Iamconsciousofsomanyotheramazingthingsthathavehappenedacross ourschoolthismonth.Iamsurethattheimagesthatfollowwillhelptocapturemanyofthese.

To mark World Mental Health Day, The Hamilton International School went all green to spread awareness and promote the importance of mental health and well being within our community.
Our Student Council distributed green ribbons and stickers to everyone Also, our School Counselor and the clinical psychologist Dr Mansha hosted a Parent's stress management workshop in our Black Box Theatre to mark the day.
TheHamiltonInternationalSchool,ispartofInternationalSchoolPartnership,andthis meansthatourstudentsandtheirlearningiscentraltoallwedo.Tosupportourstudents inmakinginformedabouttheirfuturepathways,werecentlyhostedthefirstISP UniversityFairinQatar.
HeldexclusivelyforfamiliesofThe HamiltonInternationalSchoolandPark HouseEnglishSchool,inourschool ExamHall,theISPUniversityFairhad someofthecountry’sbestuniversitieson handtospeaktostudentsandparents.
Mr.Cathal,oneofourGrade1teachers, organizedanamazinginitiativeforbreaktime. Hewantedtogivethestudentsapositivefun vibewhiletheyarehavingtheirsnack,sohe startedplayingguitarandperformingthebest Disneysongsforthestudentstoenjoy. Ourstudentshadsomuchfunsingingwith him.
AspartofthePinkOctobercampaign, TheHamiltonInternationalSchool hostedaCancerAwarenessCoffee Morning. Weweresoexcitedtowelcomeour HamiltonparentsDr.Suzy,Dr.Lubna, andMs.Karentodeliveradedicated presentationandsharetheirexpertiseon cancerawareness.

OurPre KGclassescelebratedtheendoftheirthematic unit,TheWorldAroundUs!Thestudentskickedoffthe eventwithaparadetoshowofftheirfantasticcostumesof creaturesandanimalsfromaroundtheworld Hamilton's youngeststudentssharedtheirlearningwiththeirparents throughhands on,play basedactivitieswhichreplicated theonestheytookpartinduringtheirunitofstudy They sharedwhattheyhadlearnedfromanintroductionto recycling;theirexplorationofthemuch lovedstoryThe Gruffaloandmanychildrenshowedtheirparentshow shavingfoamcanbecomeicecream,souporeventea! To finish,thechildrenfromPre KGtooktothestagefora secondtimetoperformwordsandactionstothestory We'reGoingonaBearHunt!Thechildrenwereincredibly braveandperformedwonderfully especially rememberingtoscreamwhentheyfinallyfoundthebear! OurKG1studentshadtheirExitPointfortheunit"Going Places".Theydressedupasexplorersorassomeonewho worksinthetransportindustry.Parentswereinvitedtothe BlackBoxTheatre,wherethechildrenpreformedthestory "We'reGoingonaBearHunt"andsangthesong"The WheelsonTheBus". .Aftertheperformance,thechildrenandtheirparents engagedinarangeofactivitiesthatthechildrenexplored duringtheunit Forexample,theycreateddifferentmodes oftransportusingrecyclablematerial,theycreatedpaper airplanes,andtheypackedasuitcaseandplayedinthe airportroleplayarea Itwasabrilliantday,anditwas wonderfultohaveallthefamiliestheretocelebratethe occasion
OurKG2studentshadsuperfunintheirentry pointfor‘TheEarthOurHome’.Theearthis hometoover195countriesandlotsofthese countrieswillbejoinedtogetherintheWorld Cup . Theyhadtheirownpenaltyshootoutinour outdoorarea,astheymadeguessesastowho maywintheWorldCupinDecember!

Duringtheirrecentthematicexitpoint,our Grade1studentsshowcasedtheirlatesttopic "It'sShocking".
Ourstudentswereabletoexplainarangeof activitiesthattheytookpartinthroughoutthe term.Theyshowcasedhowaflashlightworks, thehistoryofelectricitythroughtheuseofa timeline,andlookedathowhumanslivedinthe pastwithoutelectricity Ourstudents showcasedhowtheirelectricaltoysoperateand observedhowstaticelectricitycanbeseen throughtheuseofballoonsandtissuepaper
Itwasawonderfuldisplayofstudentprojects, anditwasamazingtoseesomanyparents involvedinthisevent.
Grade4
OurGrade4studentshavejustcompletedtheir uniton"FantasticForces".
TheExitPointwasaveryinteractiveeventwhere parentscouldbuild,designandmakethings,as thechildrenshowedofftheirworkandtheirown designs.
Forhomework,thestudentscreatedRube Goldbergmachines,andtheyhadgreatfun showingthemoffandgettingotherstointeract withtheirdesigns.WithintheBlackBoxTheatre, wealsohadpaperairplanemaking,boatcreating andgenerallyshowingoffanyandallwork completed.
Aparticularhighlightwasthearm-wrestling competitionshowingNewton's3rdlaw Itwas Mr.O'Neillwhowonthisquieteasily.
Thenasafinalactivitytheentiregroupwent outsideandhadatug of warcompetition.
ThisExitPointwasbrilliant,andthestudentsdid agreatjob
OurGrade4studentshadtheirentrypointfor theirnewtopicofTheGreat,TheBold,andThe Brave.Thistopicfocusesmainlyonhistory,sothe children’sjobwastoactasahistorianwould–creatingstoriesfromtheevidenceprovided They weregiven5bags,inwhichwere5artifacts.These artifactswerelinkedtoeachoftheteachersinthe yeargroup.Thestudentsbeganbydoingthemost importantjobahistorianhastodo;putongloves. Oncethegloveswereon,theycouldopenthebags andinvestigate.TheArtifactsweren’tjust presentedtothem;someweredeliberatelyput insideobjects.Gradually,bylookingthrougheach bagthechildrenwereabletoworkoutwhichbag belongedtowhichteacher.However,intheend, therewasatwist…alloftheobjectsbelongedto onepersonandwerenot,assaid,fromeach teacher.Thisalsoreplicatesthejobofahistorian, whowilloftenhavetochangetheirideasbasedon newfindsordiscoveries.Thechildrenlovedthe activityandwereblownawaybythefactthatall theartifactscamefromonlyoneperson.Theydid agreatjobashistoriansforthedayandforsome thiscouldbeajobtheyheadtowards. Welldoneoneandall.
Hamiltonschoolwelcomedourneighbors,ParkHouse EnglishSchoolforsomefootball friendlymatches.
Itwasfantasticforourstudentstoexperiencecompetitive sportsagain,aftersuchalongbreakduetoCovid 19 restrictions.ThankstoParkHouseforthegames.
Ourgrade6studentshadtheopportunitytoshow casetheir knowledgeaboutcellsandwhattheyhavelearntthistermduring theirsciencelessons.
Eachstudentmadeacelloftheirchoiceusingawiderangeof differentmaterials Theythenpresentedittotheclassandtoldus abouttheirprojects.
Ourscienceteaminthesecondaryschoolorganizedascienceweek forourGrade4 10students.
Studentsgottoexperiencesciencedemosandreal lifedissections duringtheirscienceclasses.
Studentsalsohadtosolvescienceriddlesallweeklong,tooksome quizzes,andevendressedupasscientistsforaday.
Studentsarejoinedbytheirparentsforawhole InterventionClassStayandPlayactivities. StudentsintheInterventionclassoftenstrugglewith socialandplayskillsandthisisanareaofdevelopment foralotofourstudents.
WehaveputtogetherasessionduringeachSemester wherewebringparentsandtheirchildrentogetherto teachthemarangeofgamesthattheycanplayathome withoutanyresources.
Duringthissession,weworkedonMusicalChairs,Fold thePaper,Sharks,Gradetheobject,Tag,andlotsof actionsongs.
Wehadgreatfunwhilstworkingonplayskills,turn taking,patience,andcompetitiveness.
