ON TO THE
NEXT ONE Until this series, Miami has never played Toronto in the NBA Playoffs, but these teams are already familiar with one another. Their Game One battle in Toronto was a wild back-and-forth affair that featured a halfcourt heave by Raptors All-Star Kyle Lowry that tied the game. Such a miraculous shot could demoralize most teams, but Miami was unfazed and scored the first eight points in overtime before holding on for a 102-96 victory. 10
Round 2
BY: AZAM MASOOD
“We’ve been to five Finals in 10 years. We know how hard it was to do that.” “We got in the huddle and regrouped,” Dwyane Wade said. “We won this game on the defensive end of the court.” “I was extremely proud of our group, to get the air punctured out of your body and show the mental resolve to come back. That was great mental toughness we showed from there,” Head Coach Erik Spoelstra said. “The overtime was the most mental toughness we’ve shown. Some of what we went through last series helped us with that.” Throughout the postseason, Miami has been getting key contributions from a variety of sources, with all five HEAT starters averaging double digits in points and the bench being led by postseason newcomers Justice Winslow and Josh Richardson providing strong perimeter defense as well as stalwart veterans like Amar’e Stoudemire and Udonis Haslem providing post defense against the burly big men Miami has faced thus far. For Wade and Haslem, this is just another in a long line of postseason adventures dating back to 2004. The moment isn’t lost on either of them and they want to make sure their young teammates appreciate the competition and opportunity that they have in front of them. “Just being here together for 13 years. We’ve been part of making this a championship organization,” said Wade. “We’ve been to five Finals in 10 years. We know how hard it was to do that. We’ve talked about getting the guys that have never been here to understand how hard it is to be successful. We’re not 22, 23 no more where we can just say, ‘We’ve got next year.’ We have to seize these moments.”
“WE HAVE TO SEIZE THESE MOMENTS.” 11

COMMUNITY
In early April, Silver Lakes Elementary did a really cool thing. They dedicated an entire week to the Miami HEAT! The school came up with various activities aimed at supporting the team and their playoff run. To show appreciation, HEAT staff dropped by to host basketball clinics and brought along something that everyone loves, ICE CREAM. Check it out!

PLAYOFF MOMENT
2005 EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS Eddie Jones’ three-pointer with 14.9 seconds remaining held off Washington’s fourth quarter rally, as the HEAT defeated the Wizards in Washington, 99-95, to complete the four-game sweep. Washington had one last chance to tie the game, but Alonzo Mourning blocked Larry Hughes’ potential game tying shot and Dwyane Wade hit two free throws down the stretch to preserve the win. 53
