David W. Pratt Hall
Capital Campaign Update This winter, Island School launched Phase II of the plan to build, and announced the name of our new classroom building. Construction of David W. Pratt Hall will officially begin in June of 2022, with an estimated completion date of April 2023. The two story building, with six classrooms and a maker space, will be open and ready for students by August of 2023. This is a big step in fulfilling a long-term development plan for Island School’s Puhi campus that calls to serve 500 students. Construction of the building will add 10,488 square feet of learning space to the campus. Island School has selected Layton Construction Company, Inc. to complete the work for the New Classroom Building Project. Construction of the New Classroom Building will enable Island School to quickly implement all the coursework priorities set in 2016 including: (1) add engineering classes; (2) expand the technology curriculum; (3) add to a set of certified advanced placement classes for high school students; and (4) offer several “deeper learning” opportunities where students can explore, solve, discover, and innovate.
