IRD DUHALLOW | PROGRESS REPORT

2020 - 2021

Duhallow Community Food Services restaurant – dine in or take away.

Our senior’s menu is available for €8.00 for a dinner and dessert each weekday from 12.30pm -2.00pm with our a la carte menu available all day. We offer indoor and outdoor dining spaces and cater for all types of dietary requests.

Rural Meals Service- Covid 19 Supports When government measures were introduced to curb the spread of Covid 19 in March 2020 the demand for meals increased dramatically. For several months in 2020 & 2021 the entire DCFS facility was devoted to the production of meals for delivery to the elderly. The ability to adapt to the needs of the customer was critical at the time and the design of the building allowed for staff to work at safe distances from each other to observe social distancing rules, providing a safe environment for the team.

DCFS restaurant is a lovely comfortable venue to enjoy a meal in the company of friends and represents excellent value. Outside Catering & Celebration Cakes Outside catering is another specialty of DCFS and is ideal for special occasions. Catering is available for Birthdays, Confirmations, Communions, Funerals, or any other occasion. All our delicious food is freshly prepared in house, using the finest of ingredients. A full brochure is available detailing savoury and sweet options, cakes and desserts.

Now more than ever the role of the meals on wheels service is extremely important in society to ensure our most vulnerable are well looked after. It was always appreciated that this service is a vital role of social contact and connectivity for many older people to avoid social inclusion and social isolation, again over this time, this need was magnified. Our drivers, following all health protocol, were sure to have a kind word with clients every day.

Our celebration cakes and treats are ever popular for all types of events, from office celebrations, birthdays and family occasions, customers can choose from Fresh Cream, Buttercream or Biscuit cake filling with a personalised message.

Restaurant & Bakery

Our outside catering BBQ service which includes the hire of our BBQ Grill is a popular choice during the summer season, this includes meats, salads, bbq grill, staff to prepare, cook and serve you. Christmas and Easter times are very special at DCFS, the talented bakery team produce speciality seasonal cakes and buns such as Christmas Cakes, Plum Puddings, Mince Pies and Easter Treat Boxes for these special seasons. Catering for Educational and Childcare Settings

Catering Supervisor Linda O Connor with Restaurant Supervisor Mark Sugrue make sure the cake display has a variety of sweet treats available daily.

Our Restaurant/ Deli on site is open daily, Monday to Saturday serving a delicious selection of food to eat in or takeaway. The restaurant affords many elderly people the opportunity to have their meals on site rather than delivered to home and many tend to avail of other services at the JOK complex, including the laundry service. Freshly baked scones, bread, tarts, cakes, and buns are available every day as well as home cooked meats and salads. Barista coffee, hot lunch specials and hot or cold sandwiches are available daily and DCFS is the perfect place to meet a friend or enjoy lunch with colleagues.

This past year, DCFS has provided school canteen and lunch services to Secondary Schools in Buttevant, Colaiste Treasa and Scoil Mhuire Kanturk.

DCFS caters for the students, staff, and young children in a variety of settings in the local area; Colaiste Treasa in Kanturk, Scoil Mhuire in Kanturk, and Colaiste Pobail Naomh Mhuire in Buttevant, the Newmarket afterschool service and Banteer Childcare facility. Healthy eating is a key focus in these settings, our belief is that health and fresh food helps children with concentration, performance and in developing health eating habits. We prepare all the food each morning only using the freshest ingredients. We work closely with each setting to ensure that we meet the needs of the children, the staff, and the teachers. Governance and Staffing DCFS is managed by a board of 18 voluntary directors who meet once a month to oversee the operations of the company. They help DCFS to move forward as an organisation seamlessly and offer their time and expertise to ensure the success of the organisation.

DCFS caters for a large range of outside catering events. Orders can be delivered or picked up at our restaurant in Newmarket. Noreen Kelly is pictured picking up her order from Linda O’Connor.

Full traditional afternoon tea is a delicious speciality served from 2.30pm daily, (booking essential). This is also available to take away and enjoy at home.

Our staff make us what we are, we are very fortunate to have a long serving and hard-working team to whom we are very grateful.
