FORCE ONE #45

SUMMER DRIVE

Dear Readers,

As Force One Magazine opens its 45th edition, we find ourselves stepping proudly into our second decade of publication. What began as a boutique magazine has blossomed over the years, growing in contributors, content, and reach—thanks, of course, to you, our ever-curious and style-savvy readers.

And this issue certainly doesn’t hold back. To coincide with the Monaco Grand Prix, we offer an intimate portrait of Monaco’s fastest son, Charles Leclerc. Beyond the racetrack, we explore his deep ties to the Principality, his passion for cycling, and, naturally, the timepiece that keeps him racing on and off the circuit.

But Monaco is much more than speed. It’s a playground of culture and whimsy, where the unexpected is always just around the corner. This time, the lemons of the French Riviera take centre stage - emerging from a grand piano, no less, to play roulette at the Casino de Monte-Carlo. Confused? Don’t worry, all will be revealed within these pages.

We also take you on a glittering journey along the Côte d’Azur, curating ten of the finest hotels, clubs, and restaurants, where more Michelin stars than you can count await to make your summer unforgettable.

And yes, we couldn’t resist adding a dash of style - beachwear, shopping, and, for the lucky few, perhaps an encounter with a mysterious woman behind the wheel of a vintage Lamborghini. Careful though, she’s a collector.

Enjoy the read,

MONACO’S SOUL FERRARI’S HEART

If one were to list the areas of excellence in the Principality of Monaco, one risks spending a great deal of time going through the list without finishing, because each excellence, from healthcare to education, from medicine to scientific research such as the Oceanographic Museum, contains many others. It’s incredible how in such a small territory, nestled in the French Riviera, so many unique world-class achievements are concentrated. Yet, when one speaks of Monaco, one speaks of its motorsport tradition.

The rally, but also and especially the Formula 1 Grand Prix which, since 1929, has become a global reference point, so much so that in the current championship calendar, out of 24 races, 8 take place on street circuits, of which 7 aspire to the title of heir to the Grand Prix, because there is no race on a street layout that does not connect to an imitation of that unique and irreplaceable one in the Principality.

Not least Abu Dhabi which, although on a permanent facility, has partially reproduced a track that winds around the marina, where the yachts of wealthy local spectators are moored. A striking example of the inspiration of those who, for years, have loved the original bay and that series of tortuous curves where steering wheel legends have written pages of unique history.

© Beppe Magni

Copies, many: from the fastest street track (Baku and Jeddah) to the one that would like to imitate its iconicity like Miami, or Las Vegas, the gambling capital but which, compared to the history and tradition of the Casino, with its curve unique in the world, has nothing in common.

The original remains always Monaco with its pitfalls, its stories, its traditions and the worldwide emblem of a symbol that is part of everyone’s common life: the chequered flag. A happy intuition of the then president of AC Monaco, Antony Noghes, who, having to choose a flag to mark the end of a race, had the lightning idea of creating one like the chessboard on which he was playing. That symbol has become the emblem of racing, that symbol is the essence of Monaco and its Grand Prix.

An excellence that has been transferred equally not only to the cars, to the famous curves, to the stories that fans still pass down from generation to generation. Now the Principality has a unique ambassador like Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver winner on those very streets that saw him born, grow up and then excel in a 2024 edition that will remain in the annals forever. For the first victory, at home, of a Monegasque driver who on the streets that saw him scoot around in the pram pushed by dad and mum, was then transferred to the cockpit of the most iconic single-seater of the world championship. That Ferrari companion of adventures, which combines the charm and tradition of a historic brand, loved by millions of fans, followed all over the world, with Charles emblem and representative of those excellences of the Principality that now have their standard-bearer in the world of F1.

And taking a step back, to remember what that victory was 12 months ago, here are Charles’s words that still move and touch us today: “It was complicated from an emotional point of view, I cried in the helmet and couldn’t see anything anymore. It’s the victory of dreams, on the circuit where it all started. I thought a lot about my father, it’s thanks to him that I’m here, but also about Jules Bianchi. Thanks to Ferrari who gave me the opportunity to experience this day.

I can’t explain how I feel... It was an endless race, but perhaps even more beautiful because of that. Winning in Monaco means so much to me, because it’s the race that as a child made me dream of becoming a Formula 1 driver. For this I want to thank all the people of Monaco, during the honour lap I saw how many people were on the balconies and I thank everyone for the immense support.”

And what about the last laps? The disappointment of the previous year, when he couldn’t start due to the breakage of a part of his Ferrari, was present in the last laps of the race: the fear that something would go wrong, that the dream could vanish a few kilometres from the end...: “In the last laps it was difficult because in those moments you start praying that

In the finale I was thinking about my father, about everything he did to make sure I was here today, and about Jules.
Charles Leclerc

nothing happens. I felt the emotion growing in me and so I realised that I was almost losing concentration on driving. In the finale I was thinking about my father, about everything he did to make sure I was here today, and about Jules. Winning this race was our dream and I dedicate it to them.”

To win on your home track, where you were born, where your family is closer than elsewhere, where the hotel room that accompanies the silent moments after a qualifying or a race is instead your bedroom, with your memories, your dreams, your pillow there to caress. This is the substantial and unique difference: “The special aspect of this victory is that I know everyone here. In every part of the track there were friends of mine, I had my family in the pits. It was really difficult to manage this Grand Prix mentally for me.” This was twelve months ago. The present consists of a Ferrari chasing rivals, not yet dominant and with a distinguished teammate like Lewis Hamilton. Today’s F1 king, seven world titles, over 100 Grand Prix victories. The absolute reference point.

But Charles is there fighting, struggling, not giving up and dragging millions of fans to the grandstands as if their breath could give something more to a red car: “I don’t give up, I always fight and push as much as I can. That’s perhaps my secret, not giving up and always fighting.”

In this, Charles recalls Ferrari drivers of the past, those all heart and passion like Gilles Villeneuve or Jean Alesi. But he is Charles Leclerc, the simple boy with the clean face who makes mothers and fans all over the world fall in love. And when talking about the excellences of the Principality of Monaco, well, rest assured that alongside those already known and recognised, for some time now, he too has been included.

charles’ pedal power !

While most F1 drivers zoom around the paddock on scooters, Charles Leclerc prefers to swap horsepower for pedal power. The Monegasque star recently took delivery of his new pride and joy: a fully customised Stajvelo Roca, Monaco’s own high-performance bicycle brand.

Charles isn’t just riding any bike. His Roca has been given the full VIP treatmentthink SL60 aerodynamic wheels featuring his personal ‘CL16’ logo, Full Speed Ahead KFX handlebars for razor-sharp steering,

and MT8 brakes with sleek finishes, perfect for those sudden photo-op stops.

Decorated by Daniel Design and crafted entirely in Monaco, this bike reflects both Charles’ taste for speed and Stajvelo’s obsession with precision and style.

“He’s such a good Ambassador!” joked his uncle Thierry Manni, founder of Stajvelo. And honestly, who needs a scooter when you can have a two-wheeled masterpiece like this?

PARALLEL WORLDS RICHARD MILLE & FERRARI

From Les Breuleux in the Swiss Jura to Maranello spans roughly 600 kilometres, yet when experts from Richard Mille began dialoguing with Ferrari’s engineers, they discovered a perfect alignment of vision. Time and space compressed to almost nothing in their joint pursuit of engineering innovation, technical excellence and a peerless aesthetic.

The partnership, established in 2021, encompasses Formula One, World Endurance Championship, GT racing and e-sport. Their first creation was the ultra-flat RM UP-01 Ferrari, measuring a mere 1.75 millimetres thick. Now, they present the RM 4301 Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph Ferrari, representing the deepening relationship between these two iconic names.

At the core of this collaboration lies a shared philosophy: the relentless pursuit of performance through precision engineering. Just as Ferrari has redefined automotive performance since 1947, Richard Mille has vaulted to the pinnacle of haute horlogerie in a third of that time by embracing comparable values.

As Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari Chief Design Officer, explains: “A collaboration like this is as much predicated on similarities in values as it is on the visual similarities between a Ferrari engine or a component and the elements used in a watch. In terms of performance, anything that has a technical purpose can also be beautiful. The concept of functional beauty is something that we really love.”

Two Editions, Two Identities

The RM 43-01 comes in two limited editions of 75 pieces each. The first features Carbon TPT® and microblasted grade 5 titanium bezels, with titanium dial sections in PVD red gold and bright red function detailing. The second is crafted entirely from Carbon TPT® with anthracite and yellow dial elements.

Both are powered by the new RM43-01 calibre, a manual winding movement combining a split-seconds chronograph and tourbillon escapement, developed over three years. Its ultra-skeletonized grade 5 titanium baseplate and Carbon TPT® bridges ensure rigidity while enhancing vibration and shock resistance - capable of withstanding shocks exceeding 5000 g’s.

The RM 43-01 draws inspiration from Ferrari’s renowned V12 engines - their architecture, crankshafts, transmission, suspension and exhaust components all possess inherent sculptural qualities. Similarly, Richard Mille watches occupy that sacred space where technical innovation and aesthetics coexist without compromise, employing cutting-edge materials like Carbon TPT®, graphene, and Grade 5 titanium.

Throughout the watch, subtle nods to Ferrari engineering emerge: the chronograph’s 30-minute counter mirrors a dashboard tachometer, gear silhouettes echo Ferrari engine carters, and chronograph pushers reference the SF90 Stradale’s rear lights.

These two parallel worlds - haute horlogerie and high-performance automobiles - converge in perfect harmony, creating timekeeping instruments that transcend their primary function to become expressions of shared values: innovation, performance, and the pursuit of excellence in both form and function.

RALPH GIBSON CHIAROSCURO LEGACY

Following our feature on Charles Leclerc with his thunderous, vibrantly colourful Formula 1 supercars, we now present Taschen’s black and white homage to the renowned photographer Ralph Gibson. We’ve chosen a selection of photographs in which automobiles play a role. There’s something particularly romantic about juxtaposing the young Monegasque driver with, for example, the ethereal image of Helmut Newton - a frequent visitor to the Principality - who seems to give a disenchanted regard from a car window.

To describe Ralph Gibson’s images as iconic is neither flattery nor exaggeration. This American photographer has profoundly shaped photography since the 1960s with his distinctive visual language. Beginning his journey in the U.S. Navy, Gibson later assisted luminaries like Dorothea Lange and Robert Frank before establishing his own studio in New York, where he developed the surrealist sensibility that would become his hallmark.

Taschen, always exemplary in their art publications, has now elevated their tribute to Gibson with the release of special Art Editions of Ralph Gibson: Photographs 1960-2024. This magnificent 552-page hardcover volume offers the most comprehensive collection of this highly acclaimed photographer’s work, tracing his artistic evolution across six decades of image-making.

Art Edition No. 1-100 comes with a gelatin silver print entitled Alba, 1970, each numbered and personally signed by Ralph Gibson. Alternatively, connoisseurs may select Art Edition No. 101-200, which includes the gelatin silver print Sardegna, 1970, also numbered and signed by the master photographer himself.

These limited Art Editions transform an already exceptional publication into a collector’s treasure, combining the comprehensive retrospective with an original work of art.

The inclusion of these specially selected prints provides a tangible connection to Gibson’s artistic vision - a vision that has consistently created what the book describes as “new categories of vision.”

Throughout his illustrious career, Gibson has worked primarily in inspired series with evocative titles like The Somnambulist, Déjà-Vu, Days at Sea, and Chiaroscuro - all reflecting the particular poetic sensibility that informs his work. As Vogue aptly described his photography: “A spectacular excursion through a pictorial world full of mystifying detail. Shocking sometimes, sometimes almost unfathomable, but always surprising.” Gibson’s approach transcends mere documentationhe gets closer to his subjects and meditates on them in a way that only the silence of the image can attempt to capture. This contemplative dimension is evident throughout the collection, which Taschen has produced in close collaboration with the artist.

The recipient of NEA and Guggenheim grants and made Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French government, Gibson’s influence on contemporary photography is immeasurable.

These limited Art Editions from Taschen celebrate his legacy, offering discerning collectors the rare opportunity to own a signed print from one of photography’s most distinctive and enduring voices.

A NIGHT OF LEMONS AND ROULETTE

Last week, whilst at my office, a message arrived from a musician friend: “Hi Luca, I’m preparing a performance at the Monte Carlo Casino. Could you lend a hand?” Being an Art Director by profession, I naturally assumed there would be some set design to arrange or artistic assistance required. I promptly replied in the affirmative, only to receive a curious follow-up: “Brilliant, see you Wednesday for rehearsals at the Salle Blanche of the Casino. The performance is Thursday evening.”

Performance? What performance?

And this is more or less how I found myself seated at a roulette table in the Salle Blanche of the Monte Carlo Casino, and HSH Prince Albert II and his sister, Princess Caroline of Hanover, both watching as I and other performers placed ceramic lemons as betting chips on the green baize, whilst a pianist played a grand pianoitself filled with shiny yellow lemons.

How was this possible? It all began with an idea from Maestro Luciano Chessa and Giovanni Casu, who wanted

to celebrate Marcel Duchamp and his connection to Monte Carlo through music. The occasion was offered by the centenary of Marcel Duchamp’s issuance of the Monte Carlo Roulette Bonds of 1924.

A following collaboration between the Société des Bains de Mer, the Prince’s Palace, and the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco made it possible to exhibit this peculiar financial instrument for a week, alongside the realisation of the musical performance in the Salle Blanche, under the curation of Benjamin Laugier.

The Duchampian Bonds: Art as Financial Speculation

Duchamp’s Obligation pour la roulette de Monte-Carlo, was created by one of the leading artists of the 20th century and inventor of the readymade.

This personal version of a bond - obligation in French - consists of a photograph taken by Man Ray of Marcel Duchamp with his hair saturated in shaving foam, set against a roulette wheel, appearing as a horned descendant of the god Pan. In the background, the phrase “moustiques, domestiques, demistock” repeats as a watermark across the entire document, seemingly to

The Salle Blanche at the Casino of Monte-Carlo

prevent reproduction. The reverse side features excerpts from the statutes of his imaginary company.

As Jane Heap wrote in The Little Review: “Marcel Duchamp has created a joint stock company of which he is the director. The shares are each sold for 500 francs. The money will be used to perfect a gambling system at Monte Carlo. Shareholders will receive 20% interest. [...] They are signed twice by Rrose Sélavy [Duchamp’s alter ego], and he appears as chairman of the company.”

Duchamp produced his first Obligation pour la roulette de Monte-Carlo in winter 1924-25 to finance his elaborate financial scheme. Quintessentially Duchampian, this futile attempt to strike it rich combined two concepts central to his work: chance and value. A dedicated chess player, he claimed he wanted to force roulette to become a chess game, addressing the randomness of roulette through calculation and probability. Yet, as often with Duchamp, the true significance lies elsewhere - in the mechanical idleness of a purposeless game. Essentially, he played for the sake of playing, not to win but to avoid losing, maintaining equilibrium between loss and gain, rationality and passion.

Casin0péra

Luciano Chessa’s Casin0péra brilliantly marries these Duchampian elements with Monaco’s local history. The portmanteau title celebrates both the centenary of Duchamp’s bonds and the uniqueness of the Garnier

building, which famously houses both the Casino and Opera under one roof.

The performance ingeniously brings together two seemingly contradictory realities: the highly ritualized formality of a roulette game and an operatic scene with profound historical significance. The libretto, written in Monégasque, channels Monaco’s national poet Louis Notari, who in the 1920s depicted the lives of mid-19th century lemon farmers - the original custodians of what would become Monte-Carlo and crucial to Monaco’s financial subsistence before Garnier’s development.

The musical piece unfolds in three parts: Les Jeux, where croupiers spin roulette wheels while a piano plays, its sounds muffled by actual lemons placed inside; Ri Limunàiri, Gavota Munegasca, featuring a soprano transforming real lemons into betting tokens; and finally Les jeux sont faits, where players place bets using bisque ceramic lemons painted by Chessa as chips - the culminating performative moment.

Throughout, the soundscape blends amplified roulette table sounds, delayed and looped through a sophisticated audio system, with piano and vocal elements. Chaos and order, past and present, agriculture and gambling - all coexist in counterpoint until the allegorical ending where they converge through art.

And so concludes the tale of how I enjoyed my fifteen minutes of fame, winning and losing lemons in the most beautiful room of the world’s most beautiful casino...

COCO SUR LA CÔTE ...

The mesmerising CasinOpéra by Luciano Chessa, discussed in our previous pages, exemplifies the New National Museum of Monaco’s unwavering commitment to cultural innovation. As Monaco’s cultural cornerstone, the museum consistently offers visitors a distinctive and original perspective on art and creativity. This summer, the museum continues its exceptional programming with another remarkable exhibition that captures the spirit of artistic revolution in a different era.

The New National Museum of Monaco’s Villa Paloma unveils its much-anticipated summer exhibition, «Les Années folles de Coco Chanel» (19 June - 5 October 2025), exploring Gabrielle Chanel’s revolutionary fashion designs within the specific cultural context of the Côte d’Azur during the 1920s.

Nothing is harder to achieve than apparent simplicity. And this concept is incarnate in the fatal creed of Mademoiselle Coco, who dictatorial, declared: «Elegance is frigid.» This philosophy perfectly encapsulates the designer’s approach of refined reduction.

This meticulously curated exhibition showcases over 200 objects, including 30 of Chanel’s iconic designs and accessories alongside 40 works by modern artists such as Picasso, Cocteau, and Delaunay. The juxtaposition creates a fascinating dialogue between high fashion and visual arts during one of history’s most creatively explosive periods. Curator Célia Bernasconi has structured the exhibition around three central themes: the flourishing outdoor lifestyle and seaside leisure culture of the era; the profound influence of the Ballets Russes and Slavic cultures; and the birth of the

distinctive «Riviera style» that continues to influence fashion today.

Chanel’s connection to Monaco runs deep. Following her initial success in Deauville where she opened her first boutique in 1912, she established a presence in MonteCarlo’s prestigious Hôtel Hermitage in 1914. There, she offered sophisticated holidaymakers everything from coats and knitwear to accessories that liberated women from the restrictive fashions of the previous era.

The exhibition brilliantly illustrates Chanel’s visionary modernisation of women’s image through her «progressive dynamic of subtraction.» Her revolutionary introduction of jersey—a soft, humble material previously unused in high fashion—transformed women’s clothing. As the exhibition demonstrates, Chanel created clothes for a new kind of woman: one who rides and races, competes and sunbathes, wears trousers, and cuts her hair short—effectively living what was then considered a man’s life.

The Principality played a pivotal role in advancing women’s

sports, hosting the first Women’s Olympiads between 1921 and 1923. This sporting revolution aligned perfectly with Chanel’s vision of functional elegance that prioritised comfort without sacrificing sophistication—a radical concept that resonated with a generation eager to embrace new freedoms.

Chanel’s genius extended beyond clothing. The exhibition highlights how she transformed accessories into jewels and jewels into accessories, and invented the first-ever fashion logo with her double ‘C’. Her creative approach to design was guided by a desire for essential forms, chiseled to their purest expression.

Photographs displayed in the exhibition show Chanel at her Villa La Pausa in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, embodying the Riviera style with her short hair, marine tops, trousers, and signature pearl necklaces—a vision of modern femininity that was revolutionary for its time.

For her use of humble materials and inspirations drawn from working life, Chanel was crowned queen of the «genre pauvre,» creating an exceptionally modern and snobbish «poverty of luxury.» This aesthetic represented a revolutionary

departure from the ornate excesses of previous eras.

Contemporary artist Chloé Royer provides a modern perspective with specially commissioned sculptures examining representations of the female body through the lens of fashion industry techniques.

A comprehensive catalogue published by Hatje Cantz accompanies the exhibition, featuring previously unpublished archival material and essays by fashion historians including Bronwyn Cosgrave, Oriole Cullen, and Amy de la Haye. The richly illustrated volume displays all the Chanel designs from the exhibition alongside works of modern and contemporary art, creating a lasting document of this exceptional cultural moment.

«Les Années folles de Coco Chanel» offers visitors a rare opportunity to witness how one visionary designer redefined femininity through the «enormous effort to chisel out a form, hone it to its essence,» creating a legacy that continues to influence our perception of style a century later. Today only the celebrities have changed, but the legend of items every woman wants to wear still remains.

THE COLLECTION PARIS

One woman. Three maisons. One icon.

In the heart of The Collection, that rarefied club straddling Paris and now Monte Carlo, style becomes a manifesto, and icons are not admired but lived.

This is no mere concierge of luxury - it is a circle where art takes centre stage, where design speaks louder than words, and where the machine becomes muse.

Against this extraordinary backdrop, the Lamborghini Miura P400 SV is far more than a car. It is an emblem of raw allure, a whisper of the 1970s’ audacious glamour, partnering a woman who refuses to play by the rules of fashion but rather collects them, bends them, reinvents them.

An iconic car. A design chair. A razor-sharp silhouette. Three expressions of a world where style is power, luxury is attitude, and the boundaries between fashion, art, and mechanics dissolve into one exquisite vision.

She is The Collection Lady, unapologetically weaving Miu Miu’s studied innocence with Saint Laurent’s magnetic force. The Row whispers through her in precise, poised gestures - a mastery of detail that speaks of quiet authority.

Three maisons. Three visions. One woman who curates her own private gallery of couture, horsepower, and desire - each piece chosen not to impress but to express.

For collecting is never mere accumulation. It is an art of defiance, of discernment, of sculpting one’s own mythology.

Welcome to her world. Welcome to The Collection.

KARAKORAM CALLING ADVENTURE MEETS PURPOSE IN PAKISTAN

In May 2025, a team of four passionate mountaineers will embark on a daring expedition through one of the planet’s last great wildernesses: the Karakoram range in Pakistan. Blending high-altitude adventure with a powerful humanitarian mission, this journey will take them across the legendary Biafo Glacier to the mythical Snow Lake, where they aim to ski and summit peaks between 5,000 and 6,500 meters - many of them still untouched.

This is more than just a quest for adrenaline or alpine glory, it is also a mission fueled by the values of the Wolf Pack Sports Team , a Monegasque non-profit association dedicated to making sports accessible to everyone - especially individuals with disabilities. Through adaptive equipment like joëlettes and inclusive outdoor programs, Wolf Pack promotes solidarity, resilience, and the belief that sport should be a right, not a privilege. Active across Monaco and beyond, the association organizes inclusive events, funds specialized gear, and builds awareness through bold projects - like this very expedition.

Led by Boris Langenstein, an expert in Asian mountains, the team will operate in complete autonomy. With pulkas, tents, and only their grit to rely on, they will navigate remote valleys, set up high-altitude bivouacs.

Along the way, they’ll cross awe-inspiring landscapes - from the 63-km stretch of the Biafo Glacier to

traditional villages like Askole, encountering rare wildlife and extreme natural beauty.

The team includes: Nicolas Toscan , a wealth management advisor and elite runner who competed in the Games of the Small States of Europe.

Julien Trocello , a private banker and passionate mountaineer chasing the Seven Summits dream.

Benoît Martin , commercial director and father of the expedition’s mountaineering division, who aims to conquer all 82 Alpine 4,000ers.

Inspired by the spirit of expeditions like Zabardast, this mission is not just about skiing slopes or planting flags - it’s about pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, and preserving the wonders of our natural world.

The emotional journey of the soul can sometimes feel like a violent storm resembling a shipwreck leaving us stranded at sea where the waves of the inner turmoil make us feel as if we are drowning.

Losing control can feel like the end of everything. But in truth there is no end in the Universe only transformation. Energy cannot be destroyed, a core principle in physics, it can only transform. The same principle applies to our emotional states. Obstructing the flow of energy will only bring frustration for the nature of energy is to move. So, no matter how intense your emotional storm may feel, trust it. Lean into it. Explore it. Do not fear it – feel it and use its power. These storms are not your enemy; they are your potential in motion. Use them to transform into your higher self.

Life is about bringing into existence our essences through our physical bodies, which function by harnessing energy. While nutrition and breathwork are essential energy sources, our most potent source is joy and pleasure. Real pleasure and deep joy can trigger the release of dopamine – the “feel good” hormone that fills us with vitality. When this happens naturally it empowers us to feel more alive, present and capable. It is also what grounds our souls to be fully present in our bodies. However, when dopamine surges are triggered artificially through drugs or unhealthy habits, they create temporary highs that often mask a deeper disconnection. This suggests that we are unable to find real joy in our lives and incorrectly teach our brains to chase false pleasures. When your life goals are rooted in joy, you begin to align with your purpose. Joy and pleasure fuel your being. Its not indulgence, its life force.

I therefore invite you to not fear your inner storms, they may be guiding you to something extraordinary. Allow them to empower you by not resisting them. It is when

you resist them that the feeling of drowning overwhelms you. Surrender to your inner storm – let it become your inner sanctuary where you give yourself the freedom to feel.

Allow yourself to feel discomfort. Allow yourself to feel discontent. Allow yourself to feel sadness and anger and all those uncomfortable emotions that stir up the fear of losing control.

Choose to dive into these emotions with the faith that only by not resisting them you will allow the needed transformation into your highest potential to happen. For they are nothing but the manifestation of what needs to be transformed for you to be more open to joy and pleasure. This absolutely does not mean the only way to pleasure is through pain – it means that if there is pain in your life, you can use it as a doorway into pleasure.

For pain and pleasure represent the concept of duality and are nothing more than the two faces of the same coin. And if you fear pleasure believing that you’ll end up in pain, and thus you are choosing to stay in a “known” pain rather than risk an “unknown” pain then heed this message: it is not pain that should be feared, but the being stuck within it, for it is in that very stagnation that pain transforms into suffering.

Let the energy flow. Surrender to the inner journey of your soul. Allow yourself to feel everything inside you and around you. Open up to joy and pleasure and allow it fuel you with life force. Do not fear pain for in the same moment that you may feel it, you may also transform it.

WHEN THE DESERT BECOMES YOUR COMPASS

Through her unique methodology combining strategic coaching and intuitive tarology, she helps clients dismantle limiting career patterns and design lives aligned with their true essence. In the Sahara’s infinite silence, where stars become your only map and wind constantly redesigns the landscape, I rediscovered what I’ve always known but often forget: true direction emerges when we dare to lose all external guideposts.

Three days into the Moroccan odyssey, our caravan traced ancient routes through sand that shifts beneath every step. My recovering knee protested each movement, yet this vulnerability proved familiar - I’ve seen it countless times in practice. The executive hesitating at the threshold of change because «conditions aren’t perfect.» The professional waiting until «after this project» to pursue what calls them. The desert strips away such excuses with clarity.

How striking that the desert’s colors chose this moment to reveal themselves. The impossible blue of the Atlas sky, burnt ochre dunes, silver-green tamarisks defying barren conditions. These weren’t just hues but vocabularies of possibility - each shade a reminder that we carry multitudes within us. Like successful professionals who sit across from me, believing they must choose between security and authenticity, never realizing they might inhabit both spaces simultaneously. Night gatherings around the fire became ceremonies of belonging. Djembes pulsed while stars wheeled overhead, voices rising in languages I couldn’t understand yet somehow could. The simplicity struck me - happiness flowing from connection rather than accumulation. I thought of clients’ revelations, how often they discover that prestigious titles feel emptier than meaningful collaboration.

The endless hours traversing the Atlas Mountains offered something our hyperconnected world has nearly lost: enforced stillness where revelation finds us. Last week, a client shared her breakthrough came during a flight delay - the first unstructured hours she’d experienced in years. The desert provides this gift repeatedly.

Now, back in Monaco’s polished surfaces and rhythms, desert teachings persist. Sand works its way from my shoes, each

grain reminding me we’re part of something vast. These lands taught me what I guide others to discover: navigation requires occasional disorientation. When external guideposts fail, only internal truth remains reliable.

The wanderlust that awakened in me wasn’t merely geographic - it was hunger for transformation. Every transition begins with this restlessness, this sense that familiar paths no longer suffice. Like clients who arrive at the desert’s edge of their crossing, standing between what was and what might be.

Perhaps that’s why I’m planning to return alone, to Morocco or elsewhere. Because real journeys, like authentic career transitions, eventually require us to venture solo into landscapes where no one can chart our course but ourselves. The desert doesn’t just teach navigation - it reveals that getting lost is sometimes the only way to find home.

Just as my recovering knee carried me across shifting sands, we carry our vulnerabilities into new territories. The question isn’t whether we’re ready, but whether we’re willing to discover what strength emerges when we step forward anyway.

Each grain of sand I shake from my belongings reminds me: we are both singular and infinite, unique yet connected to something far greater than our individual journeys. The desert teaches what I witness daily in my practice - that success means not just reaching a destination, but discovering who you become along the way.

When external certainty dissolves like mirages in desert heat, what remains is the most reliable navigation tool we possess: the courage to trust our internal compass and venture toward what calls us, even when the path ahead remains beautifully unknown.

PORTOFINO DRY GIN X MY STYLE BAG

ON S’AMUSE SUR LA PLAGE

Luxury becomes play - a form of self-expression on sun-drenched beaches. It’s an invitation not to take oneself too seriously, with the awareness that beauty, at times, can wink at the everyday. Sunlight on the skin, warm sand beneath the feet, and garments that smell of freedom. This is how summer tells its story: through beachside echoes and stylistic gestures that speak of lightness, irony, and allure. Whether by the sea or on a boat, fashion delights in changing both skin and intention.

The shoreline becomes a catwalk, the waves a musical backdrop, and the sunsets breathtaking stage sets. Swimwear is no longer merely functional - it takes centre stage, with daring cuts, seductive asymmetries, and couture details. La Revêche responds with romantic ruffles that flutter in the lightest breeze, while Miss Sixty Luxe brings irreverent glitter and metallic textures to the water’s edge. Bikinis are worn as tops, one-pieces reveal strategic cut-outs: sexy, yet never predictable. Colour becomes an invitation to a visual journey. Vilebrequin and Pucci ignite the palette with graphic patterns, psychedelic waves, and tropical reminiscences. From zesty lime and vibrant fuchsia to deep blue and mimosa yellow, every hue evokes a different idea of escape. Prints, never shy, resemble moving summer paintings. Dior and Prada redefine marine daywear: airy shirt dresses, soft safari jackets, wide-leg trousers in linen and technical cotton, paired with accessories that complete the look and become statements in themselves - like Hermès’s handwoven wicker handbags and tan leather accents: très chic. The inspiration is nautical, but the touch is urban - perfect for a seafront stroll or a sunset aperitif. The spirit of the Italian and French Riviera lives in every detail: from Saint Laurent’s oversized black acetate sunglasses - pure diva - to Schiaparelli’s gold jewellery, complementing sun-kissed skin. On the feet, the essential cork sandals by Longchamp blend taste and design. It’s an endless game, where touches of refinement transcend passing trends, reaffirming a deep and lasting connection to the beauty of the season.

SAVE THE DATE, GOURMETS: THE WORLD CAVIAR AWARDS ARRIVES IN MONACO

The prestigious World Caviar Awards, the only international event dedicated to caviar excellence, returns with its second edition on 6th November 2025 in the splendid setting of the Yacht Club de Monaco, a symbol of exclusivity and refinement.

Following the success of the inaugural edition held in 2024 at the Grand Barrail in Saint-Émilion, Aquitaine - the cradle of French caviar - this year’s event moves to the Monegasque Rock, further elevating the prestige of the competition.

Founded by Laurent Morin, CEO of French Caviar, the World Caviar Awards was established to showcase the diverse varieties of caviar, educate consumers about the origins of the fish, and ultimately enlighten enthusiasts about what they are savouring on their plates. It comes as no surprise that Monaco was chosen for this 2025 edition, particularly as two Monegasque companies were awarded several medals in the first competition.

This year’s competition will feature significant innovations in its evaluation mechanism: 20 members will form two distinct juries of 10 people each. One panel will assess products from farms, whilst the other will evaluate caviars from merchant-refiners. A particularly intriguing element is the inclusion of ordinary caviar enthusiasts and consumers on the panel, not merely industry professionals, bringing a different perspective to the assessment.

Each jury will have a President, whilst an Honorary President will oversee the proper conduct of the tastings. True to the principles of transparency and impartiality, the tastings will take place behind closed doors, blind and «à la royale», under the supervision of a bailiff to ensure the integrity of the process.

© Jean-Mark Lohmer

The prestigious jurors include illustrious names from international gastronomy such as Philippe Joannès, Michel Roth, Gérald Passedat, Pierre Sang-Boyer and Michel Portos, alongside personalities like Pierre Frolla, Pierre Casiraghi and Bernard D’Alessandri.

Some 60 caviars have already registered for the competition, hailing from Asia, Germany, France, Poland and Belgium, with organisers intending to limit entries to around one hundred products to ensure thorough evaluation.

The event will be supported by SMGS, distributor of the renowned Maison Comte de Monte-Carlo, the only Monegasque champagne, adding another touch of exclusivity to the event.

The evening will commence at 6:30 pm with a ‘discovery’ cocktail reception, followed by an tenhand dinner featuring six special dishes created around caviar, in the magnificent Ballroom of the Monaco Yacht Club. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to Fight Aids Monaco Force One Magazine is proud to be the official media partner of this event.

ROMANTIC OPULENCE WHERE TIME SUSPENDS ITSELF

Standing on the sixth floor of Hotel Le Negresco, one can almost imagine a conversation with Madame Jeanne Augier, the legendary proprietress whose vision shaped this iconic establishment.

This space, once her private sanctuary, has undergone a magnificent transformation into the exceptional Jeanne & Paul Penthous Suite - 400 square metres of unrivalled luxury suspended between sky and sea.

“Beyond beauty, it is about imbuing a sense of meaning that blends harmoniously with Le Negresco and the city of Nice,” Jean-Philippe Nuel explains, the visionary designer behind this remarkable metamorphosis.

His architectural poetry unfolds across spacious rooms where heritage elegance meets contemporary comfort.

The suite reveals itself gradually, like chapters in Madame Augier’s own story. One could almost see Madame Augier smile as she would observe the majestic salon beneath the iconic dome, offering a stage for both reception and contemplation. Custom pieces designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel himself and crafted by emblematic French artisans like Duvivier (est. 1840) furnish this extraordinary space.

A natural flow guides guests through harmoniously arranged distinct areas. The Paul Suite presents itself as a refined junior suite with an intimate, pure character.

© Studio Jean-Philippe Nuel

Meanwhile, the Jeanne Suite opens generously with its light-bathed bedroom, a serene library, a workspace, and modern technological amenities.

Every element speaks of a quest for perfection. Carrara marble converses with precious woods, while fabrics from Lelièvre (designated “Living Heritage Company”) and Pierre Frey infuse sophisticated tradition throughout.

Perhaps, one of the most striking parts of the Penthouse suite are the three private terraces spanning 200 square metres, offering an uninterrupted 180-degree panorama of the Bay of Angels.

Here, a jacuzzi extends the dreamlike quality, its cerulean reflections perhaps capturing the Riviera’s most splendid moments.

The suite serves as a living canvas ready to host exclusive gatherings, confidential meetings, film shoots, or moments of pure wonder.

A private kitchen functions as a culinary workshop where Michelin-starred Chef Virginie Basselot creates bespoke dining experiences.

This metamorphosis represents the pinnacle of Negresco’s renovation project begun in 2020. Like the hotel itself, the Jeanne & Paul Suite embodies an evolving masterpiece - never static, always faithful to its heritage while embracing the future.

Words, however eloquent, can only hint at the experience. The true magic of the Jeanne & Paul Penthouse Suite awaits in its panoramas, textures, and timeless atmosphere.

NICE’S ANCIENT HEART HOTEL DU COUVENT

As I step through the weathered stone archway of Hotel du Couvent, the cacophony of Nice’s bustling streets melts away. Suddenly, I’m enveloped in a haven of tranquillity where time seems to stand still. This former 17th-century convent, painstakingly restored over a decade under the watchful eye of Perseus founder Valéry Grégo, whispers its centuries-old stories through every limewashed wall and weathered floor tile.

In the heart of Nice, the convent was built by the Clarisses in 1604, then occupied by the Visitandines from 1803 to the early 1980s. While the nun’s habit has now become the hotelier’s uniform, the building maintains its core vocation: to offer a calm and tranquil haven, but also a place to stay and exchange, where people are welcomed with kindness and a smile.

The air is perfumed with wisteria and the delicate scent of citrus from the orange trees dotting the courtyard. A gentle breeze carries the comforting aroma of freshly baked madeleines from the hotel’s bakery. Time is best spent reading in the shade of a fig tree, swimming leisurely laps in the pool, or engaging in pleasant conversation with fellow guests at the charming Guinguette café. The convent’s transformation honours both its sacred past and its Mediterranean setting, where Northern Italian influences mingle with Provençal traditions in a palette of soft pinks and azure blues.

A ROOM FOR EVERY DESIRE

The convent offers a wide range of accommodation: from monastic-type cells, to rooms with a balcony with garden, city or Mediterranean view, or with a private garden, apartments up to 166m² with a large kitchen, La Cornue range cooker and dining room. In all, 88 rooms with an average size of 45m², designed to adapt to everyone’s needs.

© Giulio Ghirardi
© Giulio Ghirardi

As hotelier Grégo wisely notes, «One day, she may want a hotel room. The next, he may want to stay forever and rent a flat. They may be travelling for work and want hotel service, but when they bring friends, choose to rent a home.» This versatility makes Hotel du Couvent unique in Nice’s luxury accommodation landscape.

CULINARY REVERENCE

The dining experience at Hotel du Couvent transcends mere sustenance. Chef Thomas Vetele presides over a culinary programme that celebrates regional heritage with understated brilliance. Perfect products, perfectly cooked, natural wines, understated service, far from the ceremony often associated with gourmet cuisine. Choose from delicacies such as raw amberjack, Barbajuans de la Roya (regional speciality), pistou gnocchi and lemon tart.

Fruit, vegetables and eggs come from the hotel farm in Touët-sur-Var, bread is freshly made at the hotel bakery, and herbs are plucked from the garden. Each Saturday morning, the courtyard transforms into a vibrant village square as local producers and farmers from the Nice region gather to sell their wares, inviting both guests and locals to participate in this community ritual.

GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS

The 2.5 acres of garden are almost completely hidden from the outside world. It hosts olive trees, persimmons, apricot trees, lemon trees, thyme, savoury and more. As I meditate beneath the dappled shade, the gentle splash of someone diving into the pool punctuates the stillness, while beyond, the terracotta rooftops of Nice cascade toward the shimmering Mediterranean.

For families, the garden provides a natural playground where children can explore and discover. Thoughtfully designed activities allow younger guests to connect with nature through gardening workshops and outdoor cinema evenings under the stars.

WELLNESS REDEFINED

The herbal shop located in the cloister is a treasure trove of botanical remedies and aromatic concoctions. Here, guests can consult with expert herbalists who prepare personalised tinctures and teas using plants grown on the property—a nod to the convent’s original role as a place of healing.

As a tribute to the remains of the Roman baths on the hill in Cimiez, Nice, the hotel features a thermal bath circuit. True to ancient Roman bathing tradition, guests can enjoy three successive baths: the tepidarium (temperate), the caldarium (hot) and the frigidarium (cold) before relaxing in the unctuarium, or anointment room.

As darkness falls and I sip a glass of local wine in the garden, watching the lights of Nice twinkle below, I’m struck by how Hotel du Couvent has achieved something remarkable: it has honoured its sacred heritage while creating a thoroughly modern sanctuary. In a world of identikit luxury hotels, this former convent stands apart.

STEPPING OFF THE BEATEN PATH KUBE HOTEL

Arriving in Saint-Tropez, the allure of the usual haunts feels a little worn. This time, the search is for something different - an escape from the expected, where modernity meets understated sophistication.

Just beyond the buzzing streets and glamorous marinas, Hotel Kube Saint-Tropez appears as the ideal answer. Set apart from the town’s perpetual whirl, Kube offers a retreat where the Mediterranean’s blue horizon takes centre stage.

Spread across two hectares of fragrant gardens, the hotel strikes a balance between vibrancy and calm. Here, the scene is framed by contemporary design, panoramic rooftops, and an air of relaxed, sunlit elegance that invites guests to unwind, recharge, and rediscover Saint-Tropez in a refreshingly new way.

A SANCTUARY OF WELLNESS & FLAVOUR

At the heart of Hotel Kube’s rejuvenated offering is its exceptional spa - a 300-square-metre cocoon of tranquillity spread over two levels.

Recently reborn through an exclusive collaboration with myBlend, the pioneering skincare brand from the Clarins group, the spa promises an experience that goes beyond the ordinary.

Combining cutting-edge technologies like LED therapy and the patented CellSynergy system, with

highly concentrated formulas and techniques inspired by neuroscience, each treatment begins with a personalised digital diagnosis using mySkinDiag.

From there, rituals are meticulously tailored to restore skin vitality and inner balance, making use of the brand’s innovative (Peptides-Complex)4P.

With six treatment rooms, a hammam, sauna, and beauty space, the spa offers a holistic journey where every detail is crafted to reconnect body, mind, and spirit.

Beyond the spa, Kube’s dining experience embraces a Mediterranean generosity. The reimagined menu brings together fresh, uncomplicated dishes - artichoke

carpaccio, ruby-red mullets, veal escalopes, and bright Niçoise salads - served across the restaurant, rooftop, poolside, or in-room.

Subtle Asian touches, like umami-spiked carpaccios of sea bass or salmon, add a contemporary note, while breakfast remains a celebration of simplicity and indulgence.

For those seeking activity and conviviality, the hotel hosts a lively calendar of experiences.

From yoga and breathwork sessions to spirited games of pétanque under the palms, wine tastings, cooking classes, and boutique browsing, every moment is an invitation to savour Saint-Tropez at a different rhythmunhurried, playful, and effortlessly chic.

SEASIDE SOUL CYBELE RAMATUELLE BEACH

Returning to Saint-Tropez is always a pleasure. The village may never change at its core, but every summer brings new places to discover, each offering a fresh take on Riviera life.

This season, Cybele Beach stands out effortlessly among the newcomers, bringing a relaxed sophistication to the shores of Ramatuelle.

Part of the Hotel Kube Saint-Tropez family, Cybele draws you in with its understated charm. The setting, imagined by Cordelia de Castellane, channels the colours of nature - sage, sand, and hints of limeblending weathered woods, linen, and rattan into a tranquil retreat that lets the sea take centre stage. There’s an honesty to the place, a purity that feels perfectly in tune with the Mediterranean.

The menu, curated by chef Mathieu Pacaud, celebrates southern ingredients in their most instinctive form. Crudos, grilled meats, zucchini flowers in delicate tempura, and lobster dripping in basil butter arrive to share, pass around, and enjoy between swims. Even dessert - perhaps a pavlova or a simple strawberry and basil soup - extends the invitation to linger longer. Between courses, the daybeds become your front-row seat to the sea. Signature cocktails, detox juices, and the easy rhythm of live music create an atmosphere where time slows, and Saint-Tropez reveals its softer, more generous side.

Guided by a dedicated team of experts – including sports coaches, nutritionists, and therapists – guests follow personalised programmes founded on kindness, efficiency, and pleasure.

This dedication to wellness is also reflected in the wide variety of group coaching sessions available to all residents (including the latest addition, reformer Pilates), as well as the expertise behind the full range of treatments on offer at the Shape Club.

GOURMET AND LUXURIOUS CUISINE

Well-being is also found on the plate. At the helm of the hotel’s three restaurants, Chef Vincent Maillard presents an elegant cuisine inspired by the Mediterranean terroir, designed to combine pleasure and balance.

Le Vista, at the heart of the hotel, offers stunning views over the Bay of Gigaro. Whether on its terrace or in its cosy dining room by the fire, the restaurant invites guests to enjoy intimate moments, showcasing exceptional Mediterranean cuisine crafted from local produce.

La Brigantine, the elegant trattoria on Gigaro beach, pays tribute to authentic Italian cuisine. On its terrace overlooking the sea or in the sheltered patio, the Chefs serve antipasti, wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and other Italian specialities, all in a warm and convivial atmosphere.

Finally, Pépé offers simple and delicious cuisine throughout the day, in a relaxed setting with feet in the sand on Gigaro beach.

THE LILY OF THE VALLEY BEACH CLUB

From April to October, the Lily of the Valley Beach Club becomes a vibrant living space in its own right, dedicated to the sea, the sun, and sport. Sun loungers by the water, beachfront restaurants, and water activities for all ages: from morning until dusk, life unfolds between swimming, paddleboarding, sports sessions, or napping beneath the parasols.

EDEN ROC’S NEW JEWEL

With its unmistakable aura of French Riviera glamour and a legacy intertwined with the golden age of travel, the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc has long been a symbol of sophisticated escape. Now, this legendary estate expands its collection of exceptional private residences with the unveiling of Villa La Guettière, a masterfully restored Provençal property poised to offer guests an intimate and artfully designed sanctuary amid the lush surroundings of Cap d’Antibes.

Set to open its doors in spring 2025, Villa La Guettière is the latest jewel in the crown of Hotel du Cap’s exclusive villa rentals, extending a new level of privacy and grandeur to its clientele. Hidden within 6,500 square metres of landscaped grounds and perched just steps away from the main hotel, the villa emerges as a destination in itself.

The extensive renovation of the property, which began in 2024, was entrusted to acclaimed architect Luc Svetchine, whose father, André Svetchine, originally oversaw the villa’s redesign in the 1970s. Embracing a deeply respectful approach to the site’s architectural

heritage, Luc Svetchine describes his mission as “taking the path of a renovation in the respect of the existing architecture.” He views Villa La Guettière as “an assembly of distinct volumes that harmoniously fuse together, sharing the same destiny, the same stylistic language in a gathering reminiscent of an authentically Provençal hamlet.”

The result is an estate that artfully balances traditional charm and contemporary comfort, featuring a main house with six en suite bedrooms, alongside a secluded guest house offering an additional three bedrooms. Every space is thoughtfully designed to offer both convivial gathering areas and serene private retreats, with several bedrooms boasting private terraces opening onto panoramic vistas of the Mediterranean. At the heart of the property lies a heated infinity pool, dramatically overlooking the sea, complete with a pool house offering a spacious terrace, lounge, dining area, and fully equipped fitness room. On the lower level, an exceptional wine cellar provides the perfect setting for private tastings, while a wellness sanctuary - including a sauna, hammam, and a 12-seat private cinemacompletes the villa’s offerings.

Throughout, the interiors exude a sense of relaxed elegance. Designed by the renowned Comtesse Bergit Gräfin Douglas of MM Design Frankfurt, the villa’s décor achieves what Douglas describes as “a more intimate dimension.” Embracing a palette of soft, natural tones - beige, sage green, and Mediterranean blues - the interiors are a refined ode to their surroundings.

“My primary source of inspiration was, of course, the Mediterranean itself, with its warm, earthy tones and vibrant hues saturated with sunlight,” shares Comtesse Douglas. Her signature approach weaves together contemporary furnishings, bespoke pieces, and organic materials such as wood, cotton, linen, and rattan, creating an inviting atmos-phere evocative of a sundrenched holiday home.

“We have underlined the Riviera’s love for outdoor living by incorporating open, airy spaces and seamless transitions between the interior and exterior,” Douglas

adds, ensuring that guests are constantly connected to the spectacular landscapes that surround them.

While Villa La Guettière offers the feel of a private residence, it comes with the hallmark services of Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, ensuring a seamless and elevated stay. A dedicated concierge, discreet security, attentive butlers, and housekeeping staff provide round-theclock assistance, while a private chef crafts personalised culinary experiences.

Guests have privileged access to the full range of the hotel’s legendary amenities, which can be reached by car, golf buggy, or even a leisurely stroll along the verdant paths.

Whether enjoying a brunch al fresco beneath the shaded terraces, sipping champagne at sunset by the pool, or hosting an intimate candlelit dinner, every wish is meticulously catered to. The villa’s dining room can host up to 18 guests, offering an exceptional venue for moments of shared joy and gastronomy.

For epicureans, the villa’s private wine cellar opens the door to curated tastings featuring rare vintages and

regional treasures, while the pool house’s summer kitchen - complete with pizza oven and pulley-operated barbecue - promises leisurely meals that celebrate the art of the Riviera lifestyle.

Situated perfectly between Cannes and Nice, and gazing out across endless azure seas on one side and lush Mediterranean gardens on the other, Villa La Guettière captures the timeless allure of the Côte d’Azur.

Every corner of the estate is designed to celebrate the art de vivre of southern France, from its sun-kissed façades and shaded patios to its luminous interiors that frame the changing hues of the sea and sky.

Beyond the villa, guests are invited to immerse themselves in the abundant treasures of the regiondiving, coastal walks, village explorations, museums, or yachting adven-tures are all within easy reach, making Villa La Guettière the perfect base for discovering the many facets of the Riviera.

In its latest chapter, Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc affirms its commitment to offering singular experiences that combine privacy, artistry, and exceptional service.

Every year, the hotel’s gardens renew the magic of outdoor sculptures, engaging with space and visitors. In this summer 2025, in collaboration with von Bartha Art Gallery, three hare sculptures by Barry Flanagan (1941–2009) have found their place, creating an enchanting journey of sculptural movement and unexpected delights.

RETURNING TO A TIMELESS RITUAL

There are places that become rituals in themselves. For me, Château Saint-Martin & Spa is exactly that. Year after year, the arrival of summer carries an almost magnetic pull back to this corner of Provence, where life slows and takes on a softer rhythm.

The moment the Château Saint-Martin gates open,

I know exactly wher I should be.

This season, as always, the reopening of the Château feels like an invitation to pause.

Whether for a stay or simply an afternoon spent in the company of the Estivales soirées, there is a sense that some things are best left untouched by time. The golden evenings on the terrace, the scent of the

oetkercollection.com/ hotels/chateau-saint-martin/

gardens after a warm day, the familiar faces who make you feel like an old friend returning home- these are the details that linger.

For those seeking a deeper retreat, the Château’s private villas offer an added layer of seclusion. Tucked away among ancient olive trees, they feel like personal sanctuaries, where the pace of the outside world fades entirely. Yet, the life of the Château remains within easy reach - morning croissants delivered to your door, afternoons by the infinity pool, or long, lazy dinners under the olive grove canopy.

I often find myself wandering the Château’s gardens,

following quiet pathways where sculptures emerge like silent companions.

There’s a particular peace to these grounds, and I’ve come to cherish the small, unspoken rituals they invite. One of them is slipping into the cool, dim interior of the Chapel. There, in the stillness, the artwork The Tree of Life by Erick Iferan waits patiently, always offering a moment of reflection.

Whether you return for the full experience or simply stop by for an evening, Château Saint-Martin & Spa remains that rare place where every visit feels like returning to an essential part of yourself.

TIMELESS CHARM AT LE CAGNARD

The first time I wandered through the winding alleys of Haut-de-Cagnes, I felt as though I had slipped through the cracks of time. This tiny medieval village, perched high above the shimmering Mediterranean, isn’t simply a place you visit - it’s one you feel in your bones.

The echo of footsteps on cobbled streets, the whispers of past artists who painted these views before me, and the silent gaze of the ancient stone walls all combined to weave a spell I wasn’t expecting. And at the heart of it all, I discovered a place where this timelessness is not only preserved but celebrated - Château Le Cagnard.

This 13th-century château, once part of the fortified village ramparts, isn’t just a hotel. Spending the night here feels like slipping into a forgotten chapter of history, where the soul of centuries is palpable, and the magic of travelling through time is far from a cliché.

Owned and run by Swedish hotelier Frida Ivarsson, Château Le Cagnard is a proud member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, but its charm lies not in grandeur, but in intimacy. Under Frida’s care, the château has been lovingly restored, blending French elegance with a distinctly Swedish precision and warmth. The result? An exclusive yet unpretentious hideaway where the weight of history is balanced by modern hospitality.

Walking into the château, I was greeted by vaulted ceilings and hand-painted frescoes that whisper of aristocrats, bohemians, and wandering artists who passed through these doors over the centuries. It’s a place where every corner holds a story, and where the boundaries between past and present feel blissfully blurred.

The 36 individually designed rooms and suites each seem to have their own personality. Many are named after artists who once worked in the village, delicate nods to Haut-deCagnes’ creative legacy. The antique furnishings, combined with thoughtful design touches, created an atmosphere that was at once romantic and deeply rooted in place. I couldn’t help but feel like I was living inside a painting, where the scenes change from soft sunrise light over the hills to the deep, inky blues of Riviera nights.

But what makes Château Le Cagnard unforgettable is how it invites you to slow down. Breakfast on the terrace felt like a decadent ritual, the kind where time stretches out with fresh coffee, pastries, and the endless blue horizon

unfolding before me. Evenings melted into conversations over local wines, accompanied by the golden glow of the village rooftops.

The culinary experience here deserves its own chapter. In the hands of Axel Ohlson and Anton Surtell—the acclaimed duo behind some of Stockholm’s most coveted spots like Calle P, Berns Asiatiska, and Coquetel Social—the château’s kitchen becomes a canvas of French gastronomic tradition infused with Nordic clarity. Their dishes, rooted in seasonal, regional ingredients, are both comforting and surprising. Dining under the stars on the panoramic terrace, I realised that few things in life are as simple - and as perfect - as good food, wine, and a view that stretches beyond imagination. Despite its air of seclusion, Château Le Cagnard is

remarkably accessible - just 15 minutes from Nice Airport. From here, the glamour of Saint-Paul de Vence, Èze, and Monaco are all within easy reach. Yet, once I settled into the village’s quiet rhythm, I found myself reluctant to leave. Haut-de-Cagnes has a way of wrapping you in its spell, its steep stairways leading to hidden squares, its ateliers still pulsing with artistic energy, and its sleepy cats basking in the late afternoon sun.

As I wandered one last time through the village at dusk, I realised that Château Le Cagnard is a sort of dream, a moment suspended in time. Here, amid the sturdy medieval stones, the Riviera’s beauty reveals itself not through excess, but through stillness, authenticity, and a sense of discovery.

A SLICE OF ITALY @THE METROPOLE

When one visits Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo this summer, the elegant atmosphere signals the joyful return of ZIA. This seasonal Italian culinary concept transforms the hotel’s stunning Odyssey space into a slice of Italy from May through October 2025.

The magnificent setting, originally designed by fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld, now features Italian culinary terminology as ZIA expands its offerings beyond dinner service. Executive chef Christophe Cussac has once again invited the talented duo Manon Santini and Rocco Seminara to bring their Italian vision to life, this time offering a complete journey from sunrise to starlight.

Italy’s Rhythm Marks the Hours at Metropole

You now have the opportunity to experience Italy’s distinctive dining rituals throughout the day. The Italian influence is evident not just in the flavours but in how time itself is structured around food - the day unfolds to an Italian tempo.

“Colazione da ZIA”, reimagining breakfast with housemade cornetti, velvety cappuccinos, and their signature Pandoro toast. Between the swimming pool and the garden, guests savour the first espresso of the day.

“ZIA del Mezzogiorno” celebrates the Italian tradition of a leisurely lunch. Sicilian-style sea bass and gourmet pizzas transform midday dining into an art form, where time seems to slow as conversations flow.

As golden hour approaches, “ZIA Aperitivo Lounge” captures that magical Italian twilight ritual. The sophisticated poolside setting becomes an elegant gathering spot where Rosa Negronis flow freely ;-) and the Mediterranean breeze carries hints of citrus and herbs.

When darkness falls, “ZIA Cena” completes the culinary journey with dinner under Monaco’s stars. Refined antipasti and innovative creations like the Tartufo Soufflée pizza with truffle caviar demonstrate why Italian cuisine continues to captivate the world’s most discerning palates.

ZIA represents an exceptional dining and a cultural statement bringing authentic Italian excellence to the Principality. The concept celebrates Italy’s influence on

Mediterranean gastronomy while adding contemporary Monaco flair.

Santini and Seminara, with their prestigious backgrounds and innovative approach to International cuisine, serve as the perfect ambassadors for this cultural exchange. Santini’s title as World Champion in Pizza Dessert particularly shines through in the evening’s sweet pizzetta offerings - a perfect finale to the ZIA experience.

The rhythm of Italian dining culture now pulses through one of Monaco’s most exclusive addresses, creating an experience where even the most well-travelled guests can discover something fresh. At ZIA, fine Italian cuisine takes center stage in a sophisticated setting.

Open daily for breakfast and lunch, with evening services Wednesday through Sunday until 1st October, ZIA welcomes both hotel guests and visitors.

In a principality known for reinvention, ZIA offers something timeless: the essence of Italy’s celebrated approach to dining - where every meal is an occasion, every ingredient tells a story, and every moment at the table becomes a memory to treasure.

A TOUCH OF ITALIAN CLASS

Whilst travelling, it’s always good to find an Italian restaurant... and if the restaurant carries one of the most renowned names in restoration, it’s even better. Cipriani: you just need to hear this name, and you begin to travel with your imagination, from Venice to New York... all awakes memories of great dinners and nights.

In the heart of the Principality, Cipriani Monte Carlo captures the essence of Mediterranean luxury. The restaurant’s glass façade transforms from sun-drenched transparency by day to a warm, beckoning glow after sunset. Inside, the attention to detail is remarkable. Rich mahogany panelling meets polished steel fixtures, whilst marble floors reflect the gentle hum of sophisticated conversation. The maritime influence pervades throughout – cleverly designed ‘trompe-l’œil’ boat windows line the walls, creating the illusion of dining aboard a luxury yacht. Royal blue, red and white striped banquettes complement dark-brown leather chairs, a Cipriani hallmark that speaks of understated opulence. The ground floor offers two distinct dining experiences: the grand main room with its theatrical atmosphere, and the more intimate Veneziana Room – perfect for discreet business lunches or romantic tête-à-têtes. For those seeking exclusivity, The Living Room by Cipriani occupies the upper level, offering bespoke dinners and sophisticated entertainment. Culinary excellence remains paramount. The menu honours Italian tradition whilst embracing local Mediterranean ingredients. Signature dishes include the legendary carpaccio Cipriani, delicate tagliolini alla Cipriani with ham, and perfectly executed calf’s liver alla veneziana. Each plate arrives with precision and passion, accompanied by knowledgeable sommelier recommendations from an impressive wine selection. The service strikes that perfect balance – present when needed, invisible when not. Staff move with choreographed efficiency, anticipating needs without intruding.

In Monaco’s competitive gastronomic landscape, Cipriani stands apart through its seamless blend of Venetian heritage and Riviera flair – creating dining memories that linger long after the last sip of their signature Bellini.

FROM PRIVATE PARTY TO GLOBAL PHENOMENON

What began in 2013 as an intimate beach gathering among friends has transformed into SUNSET, one of the Riviera’s most iconic celebrations, now held annually during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

What began in 2013 as an intimate beach gathering among friends has transformed into SUNSET, one of the Riviera’s most iconic celebrations, now held annually during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.

At the helm of this evolution are Thomas Peeters and Cédric Houdrouge, two Monaco-based entrepreneurs redefining the art of partying in the principality.

From 23-25 May 2025, SUNSET will once again take over the private beach of the Meridien Beach Plaza, transforming it into an extraordinary playground from noon to midnight. Over three unforgettable days, an eclectic international crowd gathers in an atmosphere that blurs the lines between luxury champagne beach club and immersive festival. More than a party, SUNSET is an experience - a

sensorial blend of music, art, gastronomy, and theatrical surprises, all set against the dazzling backdrop of Monaco’s coastline. It’s a place where earth, sea, and sun converge in a spirit of inclusivity, beauty, and artistic freedom.

Now in its 12th edition, the event draws over 7,000 guests and is already eyeing international expansion, with plans underway for Miami.

Thomas, a veteran event producer, injects global perspective and ambition, while Cédric, a fashionforward music aficionado, meticulously curates every detail of the vibe. Together, they are also behind Morocco’s acclaimed MOGA Festival, one of Africa’s leading music events.

“SUNSET is a movement, born in Monaco but now inspiring the world,” says Thomas.

MEDITERRANEAN EXPLORER COMFORT MEETS CRUISING CAPABILITY

With its new 47MXP, Numarine introduces a flagship designed for long-range Mediterranean cruising, combining expanded onboard space, efficient performance, and refined design

Numarine’s latest release, the 47MXP, builds on the proven XP series platform with increased volume, greater versatility, and notable enhancements geared toward long-range exploration. At 46.7 metres in length and with a gross tonnage of 498 GT, this steelhulled yacht maintains the rugged explorer spirit while offering significantly improved onboard amenities.

The MXP - short for Mediterranean Explorer - reimagines the cruising lifestyle through expanded exterior decks and a reconfigured beach club. With two pools, one located aft and another at the bow, as well as balconies that open onto the sea, the design brings guests closer to the water without compromising the vessel’s offshore capability.

The 47MXP shares its 9.25-metre beam with the 45XP,

but the added length creates room for up to six guest cabins and a generous owner’s suite complete with private terrace. Hot Lab, part of the Viken Group, has been tasked with the interior, expected to reflect their hallmark balance of clean lines and warm finishes.

Powered by twin MAN 1,450 hp engines, the yacht offers a cruising speed of 12 knots and a transoceanic range of 6,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. The upper deck is optimized for storing tenders and toys, while the sundeck - fitted with a bar and multiple lounging areascaters to open-air living.

Blending robust build quality with a layout suited to Mediterranean and remote cruising alike, the 47MXP positions itself as a serious contender in the explorer yacht category.

GARDEN RIVIERA

NAUTICAL DESIGN, OUTDOOR

COMFORT

The Exteta x Riva collection brings the unmistakable spirit of classic Italian yachting into outdoor living, merging refined craftsmanship with marine-inspired elegance and comfort.

In the new Exteta x Riva collection, designer Massimo Castagna reinterprets the aesthetic codes of Riva’s iconic motorboats through a range of outdoor furnishings that feel equally at home on a yacht deck or a private terrace. The collaboration blends Exteta’s expertise in outdoor design with Riva’s heritage of woodwork, proportion, and lifestyle.

At the heart of the collection is sapele mahogany, a wood long associated with Riva hulls. Here, it’s presented with a signature glossy finish and combined with stainless steel elements that offer both contrast and durability. The material palette is both highperformance and evocative, reinforcing the furniture’s maritime DNA while ensuring resilience to outdoor environments.

Sofas in the collection are characterized by sculptural

forms and soft, voluminous cushions. Elevated slightly off the ground, they appear to float - an effect that enhances the sensation of lightness and space. Modular designs allow for custom arrangements, while dual armrest options - either padded or mahogany - recall the curves of vintage runabouts.

More compact yet equally refined, the lounge and director’s chairs offer deep seating with a pared-back silhouette. Tables feature parallel wooden slats and are offered in multiple sizes, balancing structure with visual rhythm. A portable stainless steel lamp completes the collection with understated functionality.

Exteta x Riva is an outdoor experience shaped by decades of nautical design.

The result is both timeless and tactile, for those who appreciate craftsmanship with a story.
