Steffen Geering is a Senior Economist at the multinational management consultancy Roland Berger, where he focuses on macroeconomic developments, global megatrends and geopolitics. With a background in banking and a specialization in macroeconomics and finance, he brings a strategic perspective to global economic trends and their implications for businesses. Before transitioning into consulting, Steffen trained as a banker at a regional cooperative bank before pursuing a degree in economics, specializing in financial markets and corporate finance during both his Bachelor’s and Master’s studies. His professional experience spans economic research, transformation advisory, and macroeconomic analysis. At Roland Berger, he contributes to the firm’s Macro Think Tank, producing in-depth analyses on global economic trends and geopolitical shifts. His work includes providing strategic insights to clients, shaping thought leadership through publications, and contributing to the firm’s quarterly macroeconomic reports. His recent work centers on Europe, with a particular emphasis on Germany’s economy, EU-wide developments, and the strategic shifts driven by recent trade disruptions toward neo-mercantilism. Beyond his professional expertise, Steffen is passionate about football and spends many weekends in the stadium following the game. He also enjoys staying active through running, gym workouts, and mountain biking - balancing professional life with a strong commitment to sports and outdoor activities. Steffen is also an avid traveler, currently planning an extensive trip through Southeast Asia.

Stefan Janke is a Partner at Roland Berger, specializing in transformation and restructurings as well as special situations for SMEs and multinational corporates. He has been leveraging his extensive expertise in advising companies through complex transitions across industries, including transport and logistics, industrial goods, automotive, energy, and consumer goods. Stefan has led numerous high-impact projects covering large operational and financial restructurings, transformations and efficiency improvements. Prior to this, Stefan served as Managing Director at FTI-Andersch, where he led turnaround, transformation and M&A projects. His earlier career includes roles in Transaction Advisory at PwC Germany and PwC Hong Kong (2013–2020) and Controlling at Procter & Gamble (2011–2013). Stefan holds a Master of Finance (MSc) from St. Andrews University, School of Economics and Finance (2012–2013), and pursued Business Administration studies at EBS University (2008–2011) and the University of Stellenbosch (2010).

Jens Kottsieper is currently Head of Energy Solutions in the Munich office of ILF Consulting Engineers Germany. He works in positions as project manager, expert and business development manager.
He holds a Master’s degree in Business Engineering from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern, Germany, and studied abroad Business Administration at Simon Fraser University in Canada.
Jens has expertise is in large international infrastructure projects in renewable energy & climate protection, including green hydrogen and ammonia production, transportation, export, import, storage, conversion and utilization. He supports ILF’s transformation from fossil fuels to renewable energies. Jens covers project phases from consulting intensive early phases up to engineering design projects to make them ready for implementation. He represents the company in associations, ministries, at conferences and in publications. His strengths are in project management, strategy and business development, as well as market, economic, and financial analyses.

SEBASTIAN SCHMIDT - HEAD OF SALES - PURE ENERGY GMBH

With more than two decades of experience in the energy industry, Sebastian Schmidt has cultivated a diverse and extensive expertise that spans power, gas, emissions, and a diverse portfolio of renewable projects, ranging from small-scale initiatives to large-scale transformational ventures. Having worked for companies like Trianel and Statkraft, he is a pioneer especially in direct sales of renewable power. Today Sebastian Schmidt serves as the Head of Sales of Pure Energy, focusing on power solutions and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for producers as well as offtakers of renewable energy. Together with his colleagues and team he is already responsible for one of the largest renewable portfolios in Germany, consisting of more than 3.000 MW installed capacity and 5.000 GWh energy production per year for hundreds of clients, varying from small business to large scale multinational corporations. His academic background in economics and energy economics from Bielefeld University, Purdue University, and the University of Münster has provided him with a solid foundation to navigate the complexities of this ever-evolving sector. Sebastian is married and father of three children.

It was the 19° event since the project launched in 2021. The four macro-topics speaker of the day were: Giacomo Chiorino - Head Market Analysis at Banca Patrimoni Sella & C. discussed “Outlook 2025 and the dynamics of generational transition”, Alessandro Dodaro – Director of the Nuclear Department at ENEA, explored “The critical role of nuclear energy in decarbonization efforts”, Cosimo Panetta, CEO of Aipermind presented “Insights on Generative AI for businesses and professionals” and Markus Weltz, Expert in Charging Locations and the CPO Real Estate Business spoke about: “A glimpse into the markets of mobility, electric vehicles and charging stations”.
