IASMEN Report has been taken on a 3 months trial period with one advert per week in order to enable evaluation of the activities. We have good hope that this should have the potential to improve dissemination of IASMEN´s goals and mission.
Anders Thorell, President IASMEN
It has now passed six months since the ISS/ISW in Krakow, Poland. At the Executive Committee meeting during WCS 2019 a new IASMEN executive committee board was elected: President: Anders Thorell, Sweden President elect: Steven E. Wolf, USA Scientific chair: Ho-Seong Han, South Korea Secretary and Treasurer: Dileep Lobo, United Kingdom Members at large: Olle Ljungqvist, Sweden Andrew G. Hill, New Zealand Secretary SNS communication: TBD Eventually, Joji Kotani, Japan was elected Secretary SNS communication.
At the Executive Committee meeting, a focus was directed towards means to increase the number of IASMEN members, not least young colleagues and from developing countries. To facilitate communication during group meetings, Dileep Lobo has created a WhatsApp group to which all IASMEN members have been invited. Furthermore, members are encouraged to invite colleagues with an established or potential interest in metabolism and nutrition to the group in order to increase the network and hopefully the number of members. To further improve dissemination of information about IASMEN, Joji Kotani (Secretary SNS communication) has communicated with Denise Eggler Braun, Marketing & Communications Manager at ISS/SIC regarding promotion of IASMEN activities on social media. A preliminary agreement
During the fall 2019 Ho-Seong Han (IASMEN Scientific chair) has taken the lead to prepare the scientific program for ISW 2021 in Kuala Lumpur. Some collaborative sessions together with ISDS have already been planned for, including topics and speakers, and others are on their way. These should hopefully be able to (almost) finalize at the Meeting in Zurich, March 2020. Steven Wolf (IASMEN president elect) has initiated a deepened collaboration between IASMEN and ISBI. This includes not only joint session at ISW 2021, but also to develop integration of ISBI with ERAS society. IASMEN executive committee has setup a travel grant ($1,500-2,000) for one young surgeon delegate to enable/facilitate attendance at ISW 2021 in Kuala Lumpur. Applicants from developing countries will be prioritized. Anders Thorell President IASMEN
