It is rare to wish a year away, but I think we all are looking forward to having 2020 behind us, to having Covid-19 under control, to restoring the world’s economy, to advancing health equity, and to getting back together as an earnest but energetic international brotherhood and sisterhood of surgeons! This year has taken a toll on human life, with many thousands of healthcare workers dead because of their dedication to patient care. For them and their families, we grieve and stand in awe of their selfless dedication to the highest mission on the planet, in my humble opinion. For all, and especially for those who lost family or friends, the emotional toll has been substantial. Social distancing, masking, and working from home have isolated us from those whose ideas, energy, hugs, jokes and smiles bring joy to
