The theme of this year’s Annual Report is “rebounding,” which is an important value here at Innovative Services NW. Through resilience, Innovative has been able to thrive and rebound from the adversity of a multi-year pandemic. In fact, we expanded our services and continue to grow as an organization and community.

The Innovative team went above and beyond this fiscal year to make sure our core values were demonstrated. The Pediatric Therapy and Neurodevelopment Center added the Schroth Program – the only one of its kind in SW Washington. Additionally, the Pediatric Therapy team was able to convene in person for a communication skills training, which was the first time the team had met since COVID. We upgraded the toddler equipment in the playground for the Early Learning Program and started work on a twopart remodel, where a large classroom will be split into two. Finally, the Employment Services Team has also seen some major successes: wages increased by more than a dollar an hour, there was a higher rate of employment this year, and an additional 50+ hours worked per week by program participants compared to last year.

We do this by delivering innovative programs that give opportunity for children and adults in our community to become more self-reliant through therapeutic, educational, and employment services.

Early Learning

About Early Learning

Our Early Learning program provides quality preschool for children ages one to five years old of all abilities and income levels. We believe each child deserves a safe, healthy environment with learning experiences that promote positive self-discovery through intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. We recognize that children learn best through nurturing teacher-child interactions and through active play.

Innovative Services NW Early Learning program offers ECEAP in 5 of our 8 classrooms. The Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) is a free preschool program for eligible children and their families.

ECEAP focuses on the well-being of the whole child by providing nutrition, health, education and family support services. The goal of ECEAP is to help all children enter kindergarten ready to succeed.

We returned to 100% in-person services this year. In the fall, 56 kids graduated from ECEAP and moved on to kindergarten. As a result of the turf installation last spring, kids were able to play on the grass through the fall and winter. The playground equipment for toddlers was also expanded thanks to a generous grant from the Cowlitz Tribe, and kid-sized toilets were installed in every classroom.

Pediatric Therapy

About Pediatrics & Early Intervention

Since 1978, the Pediatric Therapy program has been serving the special needs of children in Clark County through an array of services including speech, occupational, and physical therapy. We offer services to children who have developmental delays or disabilities as well as other diagnosed conditions during their most critical time of development and seeking to empower them to reach their individual goals.

Over 80% of our clients are on Medicaid insurance and unlike other providers in the county, we do not cap the number of Medicaid clients we serve. Children in our Early Intervention Program receive treatment from graduate level Teachers and licensed Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists in their natural environments.

Children require a wide range of learning experiences in order to gain skills and abilities that will help them to grow. Our early intervention (EI) specialists typically work with children from infancy to age three in order to address any needs or delays in their developmental process.

The Pediatric Therapy saw growth and expansion this year. The outpatient program served more than 261 patients this year, 67 of whom received two or more services. The EI team significantly increased client service; they gained over 100 clients and hired 12 new employees in one year. A major addition to our Pediatric Therapy department this year was The Schroth Program. In the Schroth Program, patients receive nonsurgical/therapy treatment tailored to their specific degree of scoliosis.

About ES

For over 40 years, Innovative Services NW has been a leading provider for employment services in Clark County. Our dedicated staff of Job Developers and Employment Specialists assist individuals in overcoming disability-related employment barriers and supporting possibilities for everyone.

Each employer has different requirements for their job positions, and the Employment Services team recognizes that every individual has unique and valuable contributions to offer businesses in the community. Our services are centered around matching each job seeker’s individual skills and abilities with employers’ business needs. We do this through career planning, job development, and ongoing employment supports.
