Renters 'really really happy' letting fees to be banned

Renters have won their campaign against crippling letting fees Parliament passed legislation yesterday that will ban them from next month. Housing Minister Phil Twyford said this could put up to $47 million back into the pockets of Kiwi families each year. Renters United spokesperson Robert Whitaker said he's very happy the fees are being removed and that renters will finally be free of them. Letting fees were only charged when there was a property manager, which is only a proportion of the renting market, Mr Whitaker said. Those who had to pay the fee were generally charged a week's rent as a fee when they started a new tenancy and often they were also charged when changes were made to a tenancy, he said. Mr Whitaker said renters could already be paying thousands of dollars at the start of their tenancy due to rent in advance and a bond.

"Renters are often forking out thousands of dollars, especially if they're in a situation where ... it's a big house, a four or five bedroom house, they might be paying well in excess of $2000 or $3000 including this letting fee." Mr Whitaker said the group now wanted to tackle the issue of security of tenure. "We think that renters deserve to be able to stay in their home as long as they want and be part of their community, if they're paying their rent and meeting their obligations - so that's our next big campaign." He said the move to abolish letting fees

would help with that because it had been a commercial incentive for property management companies to turn over

tenancies, because every time they did that they could charge a new letting fee. - RNZ

Tax evading tradie gets home detention after 10 years of

dodging his responsibilities and hiding cash jobs A plasterer and seller of health food supplements who aligned himself with anti-tax movements has been given home detention for tax evasion. David John Buisson, 69, of Whangamata was sentenced in the Tauranga District Court to 12 months home detention and 300 hours of community work for evading the assessment and payment of $214,668 in GST and income tax. Inland Revenue Legal Services Leader Karen Whitiskie says Buisson’s attitude showed a complete disregard towards his tax obligations. “This is someone who’s experienced in business and knew his responsibilities but intentionally evaded them. “He chose to consistently align himself with anti-tax groups and advisers, adopting various schemes purely to avoid paying tax.” Buisson took deliberate actions to hide his income and refused to co-operate and provide necessary documentation during two audits. He also took active steps to defeat debt collection efforts. Ms Whitiskie says Buisson was not naïve or gullible about the how the tax evasion

schemes worked, and the Court rejected his evidence regarding his honest belief they were lawful. “The Court found instead that he had done everything he could to evade paying tax and even though he knew his obligations, he sought advice that would suit his purposes. “There’s nothing

clever about shirking your responsibility to contribute towards the essential services we all need, such as roads, health care and pensions. “Those that participate in anti-tax groups and schemes should reflect on this sentence.” Media contact: Baden Campbell 029 890 1674

That’s why the Government’s decision to grant Karel Sroubek permanent residency is so baffling. He’s had more than a fair go and now he’s getting a completely undeserved free ride. Sroubek is a convicted drug smuggler with gang associations. He came to New

It was revealed at the weekend the Immigration Minister had intervened to allow Karel Sroubek to stay in New Zealand when he is released from prison rather than have him sent back to his native Czech Republic, even though the Parole Board refused to grant him parole in the meantime. Despite the immense public interest and deciding contrary to the public safety of New Zealanders, the Government is refusing to explain why it has allowed him to stay. This is an appalling decision and New Zealanders deserve to know why their safety has been put at risk. Sroubek comes from the Czech Republic, a first world country with a robust justice system, I see no good reason why he can’t be sent home. People from all around the world want to live and work in New Zealand because of the opportunities here. They bring immense benefits to New Zealand, from skills and capital to new ideas and international connections.

As a local MP I have been involved with many cases of hardworking people of good character who have moved here and contributed to their communities and wanted to stay, only to be told they didn’t meet the criteria. I know that there are several well qualified and deserving people with a number of other skills who have put forward their applications for residency and from whom New Zealand stands to benefit a great deal but who won’t succeed in gaining residency. But it would sit much more comfortably with me if that discretion was used when it is necessary instead of on Mr Sroubek. A National Government would have deported this criminal and continued to support those applicants who skills and experience will benefit the New Zealand economy.

Our Immigration spokesperson Michael Woodhouse has said categorically that he wouldn’t have been able to stay under a National Government. He made decisions like this when he was Immigration Minister. He knows what stacks up, and this simply doesn’t. The Prime Minister owes Kiwis an explanation. It’s not good enough for the Government to say they’ve used their discretion and it’s not good enough for the Prime Minister to tell us to ‘read between the lines.’ All that I read is that this is a Government

Lion Air's airspeed indicator

US State Dept, Indian Embassy

hold Diwali celebrations

malfunctioned in last 4 flights

For the first time ever, the United States Department of State organised Diwali celebrations at the State Department in collaboration with the Embassy of India, Washington DC on Monday.

Investigators of the Lion Air Flight 610, that crashed recently, have confirmed that the airspeed indicator of the aircraft had malfunctioned during its last four flights.

Deputy Secretary of State John J. Sullivan and Ambassador of India to the US Navtej Sarna were the chief guests. Over 200 guests including officials of the US State Department and the Embassy of India attended the celebrations.

The investigators discovered the fault after analysing the flight data recorder (FDR) of the plane which plunged into the Java Sea minutes after taking off from Jakarta on October 29 with 189 people on board, CNN reported, while quoting sources.

Ambassador Sarna and Sullivan jointly lighted the ceremonial lamp and addressed the gathering. The Deputy Secretary of State conveyed his greetings to all Indians on Diwali and thanked the Embassy of India and the South Asian American Employee Association (SAAEA) for organising the event.Sullivan mentioned that the uniting theme in the celebration of Diwali is the thread of triumph - good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance. He added that the message of Diwali is one of hope and that the celebration at the State Department reflected the great strength of partnership with India and shared values of tolerance, diversity, freedom and justice. In his remarks, Ambassador Sarna

expressed his appreciation for the initiative taken by the SAAEA for celebrating Diwali at the State Department. He said that the celebration of Diwali at the State Department symbolised the growing people-to-people connect between India and the US.

Boeing, the manufacturer of the 737 MAX 8, along with six black box experts from four different countries, are at present analysing the flight data recorder in Indonesia. The first part of the black box of the doomed plane, recovered on November 1, revealed that it had performed 19 flights in total including its final flight scheduled from Jakarta to Sumatra. The team is still searching for the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) and the second flight recorder devices. The black box is an important source for retrieving information linked to the mystery behind the crash of brand-new

The Indian envoy to the US also highlighted the rising profile and growing recognition of the contribution of the US citizens of Indian origin, including within the US State Department. He also made a reference to release of Diwali stamp by the US Postal Service in 2016 in recognition of the close cultural ties and commonalities between the two democracies. The celebrations included a recital of Hindustani classical music played on tabla and sitar. The function ended with the serving of vegetarian Indian food.

New Properties in Auckland Grow as Prices Begin to Even Out First home buyers have something to cheer as new building consent figures show government efforts are paying dividends around meeting the demands of population growth, as well as more houses are being added to the Kiwibuild scheme just outside of the city, and million-dollar houses are failing to meet their estimated CV value as the market flattens out. Here’s what you need to know:

New Building Consents almost match Population Growth Statistics New Zealand revealed last week that new building consents in Auckland are almost keeping up with the region's population growth. According to the estimates, Auckland’s population increased by 38,600 in the 12 months to June and with the city’s average household occupancy of three people to a dwelling, it was suggested that an additional 12,867 homes would need to be build across the region to keep up with the demand of population growth. But it seems that the city and government has made a decent effort to increased housing demand, with the figures up to June, 12,369 new dwellings were consented in Auckland, giving an

estimated housing shortfall of just 498 homes. Although figures do suggest that the housing shortfall is still well accumulated, and will still take many years to overcome, they also show that the housing shortfall isn’t getting any worse as new builds almost match population growth. Also, it seems to be that net population growth from migration is continuing to decline and new building consent figures remain strong. If these trends continue then the pressure on the local market could begin to cool, which could have gradual positive effects on housing prices and rents.

the growth of the community bringing opportunities to not just first home buyers but also the area itself. This was proven earlier on in the year when Twyford confirmed $38 million of 10-year interest-free loans to Waikato District Council to support major infrastructure projects around Te Kauwhata to enable the building of more houses.

Million Dollar Auckland Homes Sell Below CV New data has revealed that some milliondollar Auckland properties are being sold for below their CV values as the market

begins to flatten out. The new data from core logic shows that across the past three months, homes with CVs higher than $1 million have typically been selling for prices 1-to-4 per cent below their CV. This only seems to affect higher priced homes so far, as mid priced homes with CVs between $800,000-and-$1m and properties have been those with CVs below $650,000 are still holding their value, and in the case of the latter, are sometimes selling at a higher percentage.

Kiwibuild Continues to Grow A Kiwibuild ownership ballot will open this week for ten of the 175 Government homes to be built on a development on the shores of Lake Waikare in Te Kauwhata – which is within commuting distance of South Auckland and Hamilton. These fully landscaped twobedroom modern homes are priced at half the Auckland average at $480,000 and are expected to be constructed by Christmas next year. Amritsari Chole

WEEKLY QUIZ

Chole was made famous on the side streets of Amritsar where they have perfected the flavours of this dish. There are eataries in Amritsar that only sell this dish with big queues waiting to get a taste. Amritsari Chole is traditionally served with Bhatura ( fired bread), chopped onion and green chilli. Prepare the chickpeas the day before as they need to soak overnight. If you don’t have a pressure cooker you can replace the dried chickpeas with tinned chickpeas and skip the soaking and pressure cooker process. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Serves 6

Statue of Unity - an uphill task by all means

Indian Prime Minister recently inaugurated, the now tallest statue in the world and his dream project, the Statue of Unity, aptly named after the man who helped unite India, divided then in over 500 princely states at the time of Independence. At 182 meters height, it is not only the tallest statue in the world now, but it is a showcase of indigenous engineering marvel, craftmanship and grandeur. It put all the tall symbols across the world to shame in its magnanimity and the imposing and towering image. It dwarfs even the mighty American and Chinese symbols. It is now India’s symbol of might, integrity and unity. The Statue stand on a ground occupying over 20,000 square meters in Sadhu Bet Island in Gujrat and is surrounded by a 12 square kilometre long artificial lake. The total cost of the entire project is estimated to be Rs.3,000 crores. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, whose birth anniversary is now celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, ever since the current Narendra Modi led government came into power, this could have been the most appropriate and befitting tribute to a man of the stature that he was, and the magnanimous task he completed which possibly no other leader could have even thought of doing. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s stature was much bigger, then even his tallest statue in the world, as at a time, when country was on the verge of splitting into pieces and every person worth his salt was trying to create a new state for himself, it could be somebody only of his grits, determination and guts to bring everyone under one umbrella and the flag of Bharat. The Britishers, were kind of sure that the situation they had created for the Independence by partitioning the country, was too big for the then Indian leadership to handle and be able to run the country. They left the country in a lurch so in situation of an anarchy or civil war they could take back control of the things again. Sardar Patel saw it coming and he did not waste any time to take control of the thing whether it was Nizam of Hyderabad or the situation of the Kashmir, he handled everything very swiftly and with a firm determination. Not many people of today’s generation would have any idea how difficult his task was. In today’s scenario it cannot be even perceived, where small issue instantly become hot topics of debates and mud slinging and all sort of dirty politics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi probably finds some similarities in the way Sardar Patel used to tackle tough situations and deal with the opposition keeping the national interest at the forefront. As they say history does not forgive you even for the small blunders and how big those small blunders may grow into, it’s any body’s guess. We have many problems currently which our country is facing, those are continuing from the time of Independence like Kashmir issue. If Sardar Patel would have been allowed to handle it, this problem would have not even existing today. It has taken such a big toll on the country with tens of thousands of people losing lives and billions of rupees spent in last seventy years on defence budget every year. It is one of those small blunders of the then leadership which is unpardonable and the country has paid such a heavy price for that silly blunder. I think Prime Minister Modi is right in saying that “events like this one are very important in the history of a country and cannot be erased. It’s a historic and inspiring occasion for all Indian”. Indeed, an occasion to be proud of. - Yugal Parashar

Diwali celebrations around the world

Diwali, the festival lights, sees millions of people attend events across the world every autumn to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. Celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture and calls for several traditional dishes. From the popular sweet treats to the savoury main meals, here are some of the key foods eaten over the course of the five-day celebration, which this year begins on Wednesday 7 November this year.

Mithai Indian sweets and desserts are called mithai and are a staple part of Diwali celebrations. Many of the treats are fried foods made from sugar, chickpea flour and condensed milk. They vary between regions, but common ones include balushahi, which are a bit like doughnuts, laddoos and barfis. They can be eaten alongside savoury items or eaten alone as a snack. It’s custom to exchange decorated boxes of mithai among family and friends during Diwali.

Chivda Snacks are a fundamental part of the Diwali menu and many of them come in the form of chivda, a spiced Bombay mix which consists of a variety of dried ingredients, such as peanuts, chickpeas, fried onion and fried lentils. Sometimes, it’s eaten as part of a meal but most of the time it’s enjoyed on its own as a snack.

Lapsi Halwa This sweet dish is often eaten on the very first day of Diwali and is made from large-grain cracked wheat, which is then cooked with ghee and sweetened with sugar and cardamom powder. It’s incredibly popular and is often served with a yardlong bean curry, as the beans are thought to represent longevity.

Aloo Tikki These small, fried patties are made from shredded potatoes and are usually served alongside regional sauces, such as mint sauce of tamarind sauce. They look and taste a bit like potato pancakes and are usually crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them an irresistible traditional Indian delicacy.

Samosas Though they're eaten all year round, samosas peak in popularity around Diwali. Samosa now is recognised internationally as one of the most favoured snacks or finger food. The fried pockets of pastry usually come in the shape of a triangle and are stuffed with lentils or vegetables. Because Diwali is all about celebrating the sweetness of life, special sweet versions are often made to mark the festival, containing ingredients such as coconut, cardamom and of course, sugar. Please enjoy the festive season and have fun but with a caution as eating too much of sweet is not good for your health. So please everything in moderation. Happy Diwali to you all.

Beauty WHAT CAUSES MY SKIN TO AGE PREMATURELY? There are many factors which cause premature skin ageing, and most of them are related to lifestyle. Some of the major causes include: • An unhealthy diet • Excess alcohol consumption • Nicotine • Psychological stress • UV radiation in sunlight These factors provoke the increased formation of free radicals which are the major cause of premature skin aging. By making lifestyle changes you can prevent premature ageing signs like fine lines and wrinkles. Always take care when you're out in the sun and use products with sun protection for your skin type.

WHEN SHOULD I START USING ANTI-AGING CREAMS?

The skin ageing process is very individual and can be influenced by many different factors. One can say, that from the age of 25-30 you should start to give your skin the protection it needs. UV filters and adapted anti-ageing ingredients, such as creatine and hyaluronic acid, are therefore essential. Skin type and age play an important role in choosing the best face cream. Creams are often designed with a particular skin type or age group in mind and contain ingredients that support the skin's specific needs.

WHEN SHOULD I START USING AN EYE CREAM?

Skin ageing is very individual and depends on different factors. The first lines to appear are those around the eyes, because this is where the skin is at its thinnest. Even younger people suffer from dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. It makes sense to start using an eye cream as soon as you start to see the first fine lines. For some people, the use of eye cream before they turn 30 is beneficial.

WHEN WILL I SEE THE EFFECTS OF AN ANTIAGEING CREAM?

This depends in general on the skin type, the age and the condition of the skin. There are immediate effects you can see and feel – fine lines are reduced and

the skin is moisturised and smooth. For your anti aging cream to work to its full potential, you should apply it regularly and throughout your life.

HOW DOES Q10 WORK?

Q10 is a natural, vitamin-like substance that can be found in every cell of the human body. It plays a key role in cell metabolism and the way in which our bodies convert food into energy. It stops free radicals from damaging cells, which is what causes skin ageing. The body's own production of Q10 slows down with age, which is why an anti-ageing cream with Q10 is important to find.

WHICH VITAMINS ARE IMPORTANT FOR THE SKIN?

Vitamins, especially in daily nutrition, play an important role in our metabolism in general, as well as in skin’s metabolism. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which can provide protection against negative external influences. It neutralises free radicals. Pro Vitamin B5 is a precursor to Vitamin B5. Within the skin it is quickly metabolised to Vitamin B5. It has calming and soothing properties and provides the skin with moisture. Furthermore, it supports skin’s regeneration process overnight. Therefore, it is very suitable for sensitive, rough and irritated skin, as well as for night care products.

DOES STRESS CONTRIBUTE TO SKIN AGEING?

Our bodies react to stress in the same way they have reacted to potential dangers for thousands of years - by releasing hormones that respond to an immediate and short term threat. Today stress plays a more constant role in many of our lives. Our bodies are constantly producing these hormones and this makes our skin age faster. The most prominent hormone in the stress response is cortisol. Cortisol can influence the breakdown of collagen, the most prominent part in deeper layers of the skin. Changes in collagen structure and amount can result in wrinkle formation, but an anti-ageing cream containing creatine will support collagen production and help prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

SHOULD ANTI-AGEING CREAMS BE MASSAGED INTO THE SKIN? Anti-ageing creams and face creams in general work well even when they are simply applied to the skin. However, a few massaging strokes from the middle of the face to the outsides or light taps with the fingertips helps to improve circulation and can be quite relaxing.

The Arbaeen Walk: A pilgrimage like no other Millions walk on foot from Najaf to Karbala to commemorate the fortieth day of martyrdom of Imam Hussain termed as the world’s largest peaceful gathering By Raziqueh Hussain Children toddle with parents, the elderly move ahead in wheelchairs and even the disabled hobble along, step-bystep, on crutches with nothing but an iron will to voyage on foot and to salute Imam Hussain. In the case of one old lady from Basra, she hops into a wheelbarrow and calls on to people to push her along until they can. She knows that she’ll make it to Karbala nine or so days later to visit Imam Hussain – and she’s not going to have it any other way. Twice the size of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, yet not as well known, the Arbaeen religious commemoration is the largest annual gathering of people anywhere in the world. Millions of black-clad Shia pilgrims converge on the holy city of Karbala, walking in long columns stretching back unbroken for as much as 500 kilometers, sleeping and eating in mawakebs or tents erected by supporters beside the road, the event has become an overwhelmingly powerful display of Shia belief and solidarity. The Arbaeen or the fourtieth is a gathering to mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the revered Shia leader, killed in the battle for Karbala in 680AD. The long ritual walk to his golden-domed shrine in Karbala where some walkers spend 10 or 12 days on the road from Basra or Kirkuk, others two or three days from Najaf – comes on the 40th day of the mourning period as religious fervour reaches its peak among the faithful. Shia cities, towns and villages all over Iraq empty out during a 20-day period as their people take to the roads in an elaborately organised and well protected mass movement not seen anywhere else in the world. This year it was commemorated on October 30, where about 20 million people gathered from across the world. Mohammed alHilli, the author of a book entitled The Arbaeen: the Walk, says that “the city of

Kerbala can only contain two or three million people at one time, but, since pilgrims are coming and going over a long time, the total attending will be much higher.” “Arbaeen is unique because it takes place against the backdrop of chaotic and dangerous geopolitical scenes. Daesh (aka 'Islamic State') sees the Shia as their mortal enemy, so nothing infuriates the terror group more than the sight of Shia pilgrims gathering for their greatest show of faith,” says Sayed Mahdi al-Modarresi, a faith leader, lecturer and author of The Lost Testament. ”There's another peculiar feature of Arbaeen. While it is a distinctively Shia spiritual exercise, Sunnis, even Christians, Yazidis, Zoroastrians, and Sabians partake in both the pilgrimage as well as serving of devotees. This is remarkable given the exclusive nature of religious rituals, and it could only mean one thing: people regardless of colour or creed see Hussain as a universal, borderless, and meta-religious symbol of freedom and compassion.” Imam Hussain was killed in Karbala on a day which became known as Ashura, the tenth day of the Islamic month of Muharram, having refused to pledge allegiance to the corrupt and tyrannical caliph, Yazid. He and his family and companions were surrounded in the desert by an army of lakhs and starved of food and water, then beheaded in the most inhuman manner, a graphic tale recounted from pulpits every year since the day he was slain. An avalanche of men, women and children, but most visibly black-veiled women, fill the eye from one end of the horizon to the other. The crowds are so huge that they caused a blockade for hundreds of miles. The 900km distance between the southern port city of Basra and Karbala is a long journey by car, but it's unimaginably arduous on foot. It takes pilgrims a full two weeks to complete

the walk. People of all age groups trudge in the scorching sun during the day and in chilling cold at night. They travel across rough terrain, down uneven roads, through terrorist strongholds, and dangerous marshlands. Without even the most basic amenities or travel gear, the pilgrims carry little besides their burning love for "The Master" Hussain. Flags and banners remind them, and the world, of the purpose of their journey. Mostly international pilgrims are from Iran but they also come from Pakistan, India, Azerbaijan, Lebanon and places where the Shia community must be tiny. Asked what the pilgrimage meant to him, one 20-year-old visitor from London said, “It means my whole life to me. It means one small step towards heaven.” One part of the pilgrimage which will leave every visitor perplexed is the sight of thousands of tents with makeshift kitchens set up by local villagers who live around the pilgrims' path. The tents are places where pilgrims get practically everything they need. From fresh meals to eat and a space to rest, to free international phone calls to assure concerned relatives, to baby diapers, to practically every other amenity, free of charge. In fact, pilgrims do not need to carry anything on the journey except the clothes they wear. More intriguing is how pilgrims are invited for food and drink. Mawkeb organizers intercept the pilgrims' path to plead with them to accept their offerings, which often includes a full suite of services fit for kings: first you get a foot massage, then you are offered a delicious hot meal, then you are invited to rest while your clothes are washed, ironed, then returned to you after a nap. All complimentary, of

course. Every heart is torn with his grief and every eye is moist. There no one asks about your religion or sect, every pilgrim is honoured and every pilgrim gets treated like royalty. Even the poor who don’t have anything to serve the pilgrims manage to give tissue papers and free foot and back massages. It’s the true love of Imam Hussain, the respect of the pilgrims that love translates into and the unparalleled enthusiasm and desire these Iraqis have in their hearts to serve the pilgrims. After all no one opens the doors of their houses to welcome strangers who come from distant lands and don’t speak the same language. One flag says, “Al Hussain Yajmaoona” meaning "Hussain brings us together." So true. For Muslims and non-Muslims across the world, Imam Hussain who is the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, and son of Imam Ali and Sayyeda Fatima, serves as a saintly figure who constantly reminds us to better ourselves and try to positively influence society. This pilgrimage is one where swarms of people walk united, to pay allegiance to a man who left an everlasting legacy 1400 years ago – one that would inspire many generations after his death. Who is Hussain? You may ask. Just visit Karbala and you’ll get your answer from any follower who has marched to Imam Hussain’s shrine on foot during Arbaeen.

The Arbaeen walk in Auckland at the Lloyds Elsmore Park saw people of all faiths including women and chidren gethered for a peaceful march. Attended by Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi, Rev Bruce Keely and Constable Satvir Singh

Spiritual Does enlightenment come only to those who seek it?

Can someone accidentally get enlightened? Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:

got shot in the neck. He survived that but he then he got enlightened. The man suddenly saw himself not being the body and it was an accidental enlightenment. He passed away in the late 80’s, he was a very nice gentleman. When there is total harmony and synchrony between the left and right hemisphere of the brain, and when the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system are working in harmony, then you say that this is an altered state of consciousness. And this altered state of consciousness which can be physically measured today, is what is called enlightenment.

Yes. Someone can accidentally get enlightened. I know of a soldier, in 1971

Indo-Pak war, he was shot. He is from Haryana. He was on his horse and he

But then after enlightenment, he wanted to know more, study a little more, after enlightenment he went to look for a Guru (Mater). He needed a Guru. In those days a lot of this caste politics was there. Almost like Eklavya, he sat outside kutir of his Guru, and just heard and learned what the Guru was talking to other students. Then he thanked his Guru and then he came. He was living in Kotla, Mubarakpur. There was a drain in New Delhi, Kotla area, he used to live

there. He was married, he had children. But then he made his own little kutir, an ashram, he used to sit there. He had just passed second class in the school, not very educated, but a very wise person. There are many such examples, many many people. That is possible. But you know, here again, they must have done something in the past life. In this life, it appears to be an accidental one, but really not, it is all in the grand plan. I used to meet him, I was only 23 or 24 at that time. And he used to call me as ‘Oh, Yogiraj.’ I was a little shy to listen to all those praises. ‘You have come after so many thousands of years.’ He used to tell me, ‘The whole world is looking for you.’ This is how he used to talk to me. But he was very rude to other people. He used to have a stick and used to chase people out, rude means in a sweet manner. He used all the slangs. But he had the vision, he knew, he could see.

There is no criteria for enlightenment. You have it already. When will it come out, when will it blossom, is completely a mystery.

Daggubati was not a part of the cast earlier, this development comes weeks after Nana Patekar decided to step out of the project after facing sexual harassment allegations by Tanushree Dutta. The 67-year-old actor's son Malhar Nana Patekar had announced the veteran actor's exit from the film. Drug Smuggler Granted Residency – outrages immigrants and locals alike (Continue from pg.1) Karel Sroubek arrived in New Zealand in 2003 using a false passport under the name Jan Antolik. Since then he's set up seven companies and managed to buy a house largely with cash. He was associated with the Hell's Angels gang, and in 2009 was facing charges of kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He was on bail awaiting trial when he applied to the High Court to be allowed to go back to the Czech Republic. The court documents from 2009 show he'd already been allowed back earlier that year and the judge said that showed he could be trusted to return. Sroubek was jailed two years ago, for more than five years, for importing MDMA also known as ecstasy. Alastair McClymont who is an immigration lawyer discussed the details of the case on the breakfast show on RNZ. Conspicuous by his absence to comment on the radio show was the Immigration Minister Ian Lees-Galloway. Immigration lawyer Alastair McClymont is asking whether the Immigration

Minister was told a lie about profiling used to target overstayers. Immigration Minister Ian Lees-Galloway has suspended a controversial pilot programme after RNZ revealed it was being used to identify troublemakers and possibly put them on a fast-track to deportation.

Lawyer questions whether Immigration Minister was

'told a lie' Last week, Immigration New Zealand compliance and investigations area manager Alistair Murray told RNZ that the profiling model considered a range of features, including someone's country of origin, age, gender and ethnicity to

identify potential troublemakers. Mr Lees-Galloway said he is aware of concerns around perception. "People want to be certain that the information Immigration New Zealand has is being used appropriately." But says he's been assured neither race nor nationality was used in the modelling. Lawyer Alastair McClymont told Morning Report the programme is racial profiling and that the minister's comment is at odds with what Immigration New Zealand has previously said. "There's a whole lot of inconsistencies here. I've seen the document and it doesn't really answer any questions. In fact, it raises dozens and dozens more." He is asking whether the Immigration Minister was told a lie about profiling used to target overstayers. Having read the documents he says the weighting is instead on the current visa type held. "Overstayers don't have a visa. "Alastair Murray last week talked about targeting people who were incurring health debts and criminal history yet these types of factors have an extremely low weighting in the spreadsheet. All of these migrants who are basically targeted as a high risk to the immigration system are the people who score highly on visa type, number of applications made and the type of

Immigration lawyer Alastair McClymont employer." Mr McClymont said there was an emphasis on targeting potential victims of exploitation rather than rooting out the causes of it. He said the minister needed to ask a lot more questions. "Why is Immigration New Zealand not coming up with any ideas about how to tackle the root causes of exploitation? Why are they simply punishing the victims?" He said there needed to be an independent look at the profiling to see exactly how Immigration New Zealand had been using its data. - RNZ

An India summer in Australia Indian men's football team coach Stephen Constantineon Tuesday announced his 22-member squad for the team's first-ever international fixture against China at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium in Suzhou city on October 13. Constantine said Balwant Singh had to be dropped from the squad because of some unavoidable circumstances. "As his passport will expire in less than six months, he was denied a Chinese visa," he stated before the departure of the team. Out of the 17 face-offs between India and China so far, the Red Dragons have won on 12 occasions. The rest of the five matches ended in a stalemate. Constantine mentioned that although the match is labeled as a 'friendly', it was a serious affair for the entire team. "Friendly or no-friendly, it's the Indian national team. It's only a friendly game

for the world but not for us," he said. The two national teams will lock horns after a gap of 21 years. In the last meeting, which took place in the Nehru Cup tournament in Kochi in 1997, China pipped India 2-1. The 22-member squad is as follows: Goalkeepers - Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, Amrinder Singh, Karanjit Singh. Defenders - Pritam Kotal, Sarthak Golui, Sandesh Jhingan, Anas Edathodika, Salam Ranjan Singh, Subhasish Bose, Narayan Das. Midfielders - Udanta Singh, Nikhil Poojary, Pronay Halder, Rowllin Borges, Anirudh Thapa, Vinit Rai, Halicharan Narzary, Ashique Kuruniyan. Forwards - Sunil Chhetri, Jeje Lalpekhlua, Sumeet Passi, Farukh Choudhary.

set, the Russian shuttler made a strong comeback. However, Sindhu, while maintaining momentum, conceded a 2119 to defeat her Russian counterpart.

The 23-year-old disposed of Kosetskaya 21-13, 21-19 in a match that lasted 29 minutes to enter into the second round of the tournament.

In the women's doubles event, Sikki Reddy and Ashwini Ponnappa crashed out in their Round of 32 earlier today.

Sindhu dominated right from the start of the game. She raced ahead of her opponent and registered a convincing 21-13 win in the first game.

Indian campaigners Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy are slated to face Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark in their Round of 32 of the men's doubles event later today.
