BLOOD SAMPLING APP Closed registration loop Blood sampling at most hospitals today consists of a few manual and vulnerable routines. This app is designed to support efficient and secure blood sampling and testing at hospitals. The closed registration loop for blood sampling helps prevent the doubling up of samples and thereby reduces resource use, ensures patient safety, and provides test results faster. It also improves and simplifies the interaction between nurses and the laboratory. Benefits Automate existing routines and overcomes manual process challenges : » Samples drawn from the wrong patient » Lost or forgotten sample tubes » Time consuming registration of results » Wrong requisition taken in cases with several active requisitions for one patient » Double taking related to new requisitions without notifying nurse » Lack of two-factor identification of staff

ØSTFOLD HOSPITAL TRUST Quiet working environment The hospital was one of the first in Norway to implement a quiet working environment, where the audio signals from patient alerts were turned off. Fully integrated DNV Imatis’ platform is used for all integration and messaging exchanges. The platform is fully integrated with more than 50 areas, including clinical and administrative systems such as EJP (electronic health records), lab systems, orderly services, cleaners, patient alerts, telemetry, wireless duress alerts and positioning solutions.

Role-based mobile phones Role-based mobile phones have been introduced at the hospital for receiving patient alerts. Patient alert notifications are displayed on big touch screens in the ward. Whiteboards and mobile phones are also used for allocating rooms to patients. Patient alerts are received on staff’s mobile phones. An acknowledgement is sent in return as a safety check, before then pressing the nurse presence button in the room. Only then is the alarm turned off.

“What I love about the blood test app is that you know the exact time, who took the samples and that you received the correct number of tubes. Blood samples are fresh. Some samples must enter within an hour, while others may wait longer.” - Anne-Kathrine Palacios, Head of department at the Center for Laboratory Medicine
