Hello, I am Bob Markovich, Mayor of the Village of Sheffield.
With over 750 acres of scenic parks and trails, including the stunning French Creek Reservation, our residents and guests enjoy unparalleled access to nature.
Welcome to Sheffield Village — a place where community thrives, businesses grow, and history lives on.
Our Village is a vibrant and welcoming community that blends forward-thinking economic development with deep-rooted historical significance and natural beauty. We are proud of our growing business landscape, our strong civic values, and the inclusive spirit that defines who we are.
Sheffield Village is home to over 300 businesses, including major employers such as Ford Motor Company, Benko Products, and Amware Distribution. Our location — minutes from I-90, the Ohio Turnpike, and major state routes — makes us a strategic hub for industry, logistics, and innovation. This strong commercial base not only drives our local economy but also provides a 100% income tax reciprocity benefit to our residents and contributes to one of the highest municipal bond ratings in Lorain County.
But what truly sets us apart is our community — and our story.
Sheffield Village is rich in American history. The Burrell Homestead, located right here in our Village, was a major stop on the Underground Railroad and stands today as a monument to freedom and courage. Our community was also home to the first institutions of higher learning to educate men and women of all races together. This
legacy of progress and justice is not just part of our past — it is the foundation of our future.
Recreation and quality of life are also cornerstones of our identity. With over 750 acres of scenic parks and trails, including the stunning French Creek Reservation, our residents and guests enjoy unparalleled access to nature. Hike, run, or bike through wooded trails, paddle down French Creek, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the Black River. Our parks offer something for everyone — whether you're seeking adventure or serenity.
At James Day Park, families gather for ballgames, playground fun, and community connection. Our recreation spaces, along with our clean and safe streets, strong public safety services, and excellent educational institutions, make Sheffield Village a place where life is full — of opportunity, of beauty, and of meaning.
I invite you to discover the unique character of Sheffield Village — where the future is bright and the past is never forgotten.
Sincerely,
Bob Markovich Mayor

We continue to improve our economic development by offering a favorable business climate to attract a variety of commercial, retail, and office developments. We have several industrial parks with room for expansion.
The Village of Sheffield offers many advantages to businesses and residents due to our proximity to I-90, the Ohio Turnpike, and three major state routes: 254, 301, and 611. We are close to just about any type of restaurant, shopping, or other business you can name, all within minutes of a highway. Whether it is Cleveland or Sandusky, both are very convenient.
SERVICES
Our police and fire departments have the latest emergency equipment, and the service department is second to none. We are known throughout Lorain County as having the cleanest streets during the winter. This fact is clearly visible when you leave other cities and enter Sheffield Village.

The Village of Sheffield is home to Ohio Business College and Lorain County Community College, the premier education center in Lorain County with 14,500 students. LCCC's campus borders the Village, where you can achieve a bachelor's or master's degree.
ATMOSPHERE
Our citizenry, Historical Society, Cultural Center, Lions Club, and the seven churches in the Village are all very active in the community. We have a historical marker, Burrell Homestead, which was used as a major stop on the Underground Railroad. Sheffield Lake’s
hEnduring C harm!
WE ARE PROUD to share the exciting momentum building here in Sheffield Lake! Our continued commitment to recreation, community engagement, and partnerships is making a lasting impact.
One major highlight is our partnership with the Lorain County Metro Parks, which is helping us put plans in place for the future paving of the trail system—a significant step forward in accessibility and connectivity for residents and visitors alike.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce the opening of the splash pad in Summer 2026, made possible through a generous donation from Ford. This addition will be a cornerstone of fun for our families and kids for years to come.
This year has also been packed with recreation and community events that are bringing neighbors together like never before. From Movie Nights in the Park and Sunday Playdates at different city parks, to Walks with the Mayor
every other Thursday, we’re creating more ways for families and friends to connect. Our Food Truck Festivals, 3-on3 Basketball Tournaments, and growing Pickleball scene have also added fun variety to our calendar.
We continue our traditions with cherished events like the Easter Eggstravaganza, our beloved Halloween Party, the spirited Turkey Trot, and the festive Christmas by the Lake celebration.
Sheffield Lake is more than just a city — it’s a community on the rise, where progress and togetherness go hand in hand. Thank you for being part of our journey.
Sincerely,
Rocky Radeff Mayor City of Sheffield Lake
VISION STATEMENT
Sheffield Lake aspires to be a vibrant lakeside community, cherished for its enduring charm and unwavering commitment to fostering a welcoming and connected environment for all.
MISSION STATEMENT
To cultivate a thriving and progressive economic environment in Sheffield Lake, fostering a welcoming atmosphere that prioritizes the needs of families and is supported by a professional and accountable city workforce.
Mayor Radeff visits Safety Town where each summer, young residents are taught basic safety skills.
SHEFFIELD LAKE:
A Connected, Growing Community
SHEFFIELD LAKE is experiencing a season of growth, connection, and excitement. Nestled along the Lake Erie shoreline, this quiet, friendly community spans only 2.4 square miles — but what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in energy, charm, and opportunity.
Over the past year, we’ve seen meaningful progress that continues to shape our city for the better. One major milestone was our successful partnership with Lorain County Metro Parks, which is helping us put plans in place for the future paving of the trail system. This improvement enhances our growing network of nature trails — beloved by walkers, runners, cyclists, and even birders who flock to the Lincoln Nature Trail during migration season to catch glimpses of rare birds.
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce the long-awaited Splash Pad, set to open in Summer 2026, thanks to a generous donation from Ford. And throughout 2025, our calendar is filled with vibrant recreation programming and community events made possible with support from Ford, NOPEC, and our local VFW.
Highlights include:
6 Movie Nights in the Park
6 Sunday Playdates at different city parks
6 Walks with the Mayor
6 3-on-3 Basketball Tournaments
6 Pickleball at Gary Green Park
6 Food Truck Festivals
6 Adult Kickball League
6 Yoga in the Park
6 Community Gardens
Of course, we also continue to celebrate cherished traditions like the Easter Eggstravaganza, Halloween Party, Turkey Trot, and Christmas by the Lake — festivals that reflect the heart of our community.
Lake’s
Sheffield Lake’s five beautiful lakefront parks offer residents and visitors easy access to sunset views, boat launches, picnic spots, playgrounds, and even a skate park. Additional neighborhood parks feature pavilions, basketball courts, baseball fields, grills, and a Storybook Trail, creating fun and accessible spaces for all ages.

A Growing Community
7 Continued from page 9
Affordable housing options make Sheffield Lake ideal for first-time buyers, growing families, and retirees alike. Local businesses — many of them family-owned—offer diverse shopping and dining experiences and serve as welcoming gathering places for neighbors to connect.
Education and lifelong learning thrive here as well. Children and teens attend the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Public Schools or nearby private schools, while adults benefit from proximity to Lorain County Community College and its University Partnership. The Domonkas Branch Library, made possible by a local couple’s generous gift, remains a cornerstone of enrichment and learning for all ages.
Our vibrant Joyce Hanks Community Center, located on the lake, is a hub of activity for classes, meetings, and events, set against a scenic backdrop complete with a gazebo, picnic areas, and a playground.
Finally, Sheffield Lake honors a proud tradition of military service. During the Civil War, local men formed the 103rd Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry, whose legacy lives on through the city’s museum and ongoing veteran
engagement. Today, 729 veterans call Sheffield Lake home. From exciting new amenities to time-honored traditions, Sheffield Lake continues to grow and thrive — fueled by a shared commitment to building a welcoming, active, and connected community.

SHEFFIELD-SHEFFIELD LAKE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT is an up-and-coming school district located 20 minutes west of Cleveland, and north of State Route 90 on the shores of Lake Erie. The School District serves approximately 1,650 students with a mission to inspire our students and staff to achieve success, excite our community to continue to support district improvements, and educate our stakeholders about district programs and opportunities. A fiveyear strategic plan is in place with staff, community, and student support.
A newer 150,000 square foot middle and high school building is the showcase of the district, with the latest in teaching technology, computer labs, maker space rooms, science labs, athletic facilities, and a state-of-the-art television station. The Elementary schools are beautiful and well-maintained, with a focus on early literacy and enrichment to meet each student at the level they need, with experts in the field available as resources.
The district boasts a robotics team that has won at the state level and traveled to the world championships for Vex Robotics, where
they competed against 30 different countries.
Students are offered university college courses at no cost to families. Two associate’s degrees may be earned without ever leaving the high school facility. Maker Space areas and a cuttingedge TV studio help our students enjoy 21st-century learning opportunities. Academically, our scores continue to grow. Athletically, our teams are very competitive with girls’ volleyball, track, and boys’ basketball programs, winning multiple conference championships. The marching band is renowned as the “wall of sound” and delights fans everywhere they perform.

Getting A Head Start
Ohio’s College Credit Plus program allows students to earn college credits while in high school – for free.
NEARLY HALF OF ALL Lorain County high school students graduate with credit from Lorain County Community College. And over the past ten years, dual enrollment programs, like College Credit Plus, have helped Lorain County families save more than $44 million in tuition costs.
Anna Woodrum of Lorain County
earned 15 college credits before graduating from high school, giving her a head start toward earning an associate of applied business degree from LCCC. “With College Credit Plus, I got a head start on my education for free, and I saved money for my family,” Anna said.
Anna’s parents, Adam and Amanda,
hope her younger brothers do the same.
“Anna being debt-free right out of college is her goal and our goal for her as parents. And it sets the example for her brothers. It shows them that it’s possible to earn degrees without debt,” they said. Learn more about College Credit Plus at www.lorainccc.edu/ccp.

WHEN TRANSFERRING real estate in Ohio, it’s important to understand the different types of deeds and the protections they offer. The type of deed used can impact both buyer and seller rights.
General Warranty Deed
Offers the highest level of protection. The seller guarantees the title is clear of all encumbrances, even those before their ownership.
Limited Warranty Deed
Provides a limited guarantee. The seller warrants that the title is clear of issues only during their period of ownership.
Fiduciary Deed
Used when the seller acts in a fiduciary role (executor, trustee, guardian, etc.). It confirms legal authority to sell but does not guarantee a clear title.
Quit Claim Deed
Transfers whatever interest the seller has with no warranties. Commonly used between family members or to resolve title issues.
Michelle Williamson, Vice President
In a nutshell, a deed is the physical legal document, stamped and attested, conveying the property to the owner stating they now have title to the real estate.
Joint & Survivorship Deed
A warranty deed used when two or more people buy property together. Upon one owner’s death, their share automatically transfers to the survivor(s), bypassing probate. This interest is still considered part of the estate for tax purposes.
Each type of deed serves a unique purpose and level of risk. To ensure you choose the right option for your situation, consult with a qualified attorney. We cannot offer legal advice.
If you need assistance in finding an attorney, contact Michelle Williamson at Fidelity National Title, 440-284-5131, or www.ohio.fntic. com/offices/sheffield-village.

NORTH COAST COMMUNITY WOODSHOP:
A Space for Creativity and Craftsmanship
The North Coast Community Woodshop is a nonprofit, membership-based organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the craft of woodworking. Located in Sheffield Lake, the shop offers a well-equipped, collaborative space where members can build furniture, create decorative items, turn bowls, or work on personal or community projects.
The facility features a full array of woodworking tools and equipment, including stationary machines, hand tools, woodworking jigs, multiple worktables, and centralized dust collection. All equipment is carefully maintained to ensure safety and performance.
In addition to workspace, the woodshop offers educational opportunities through member-led classes designed for beginners and experienced woodworkers. Topics include woodturning, joinery, simple furniture making, and instruction in other woodworking skills. Classes are held on Saturdays, usually from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with all materials included in the registration fee. Classes are open to the public and are posted at nccwoodshop.org/events. Due to small class sizes, they tend to fill quickly.
While membership is currently at capacity, those interested in joining can sign up for the waitlist at nccwoodshop.org/becomea-member. Find more information online at nccwoodshop.org or facebook.com/NorthCoastCommunityWoodshop.
