From the Principal

Dear Loving and Compassionate God, Giver of all gi6s, We pray especially today for the mercy and love You give us. Open our hearts and minds to You. Give us the grace to accept your mercy Amen

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our Week 6 newsle;er.

Today I had the pleasure of a;ending the One Big Voice concert at the RAC Arena with our choir. The aim of One Big Voice is to have as many young people as possible singing posiTve, upliUing, life affirming songs. It was lovely to see the joy on our students faces as they joined the mass choir. Well done to Mrs Carroll for preparing the choir so beauTfully.

A big thank you to Mrs Le Coultre for organising the Book Week acTviTes in the Library and for organising the Book Week parade and assembly yesterday. CongratulaTons to all students (and their parents) for dressing up for Book Week and embracing the theme Reading is Magic!

We have a lot of events over the next two weeks. On Wednesday 28 August our P&F are running the Father’s Day Stall For children that are unable to give their Father’s a giU, the P&F have also organised giUs for other male or female figures in the students’ lives. Please reach out to our P&F execuTve if you would like further informaTon. Dads and Father figures are very welcome to join us on Thursday 29 August for Donuts with Dad from 7.30am, followed by Mass at 9.00am in the Church.

We also have our Year Two BYOD informaOon Session on the 4 September and Infant Jesus Day on Friday 6 September. Due to a delay in the pavers arriving, we will hold a special aUernoon early next term to commemorate our 70th Anniversary. Further details will be sent out towards the end of the term. Classes will be open from 2pm to 4pm so that parents and visitors can have a look at the wonderful work that the students are doing in their classes. This is replacing the usual Learning Journey. Unless students are signed out by their parents aUer looking at their classrooms, the bell will ring at 3pm for usual pick up.

At IJS we recognise and are sympatheTc to the fact that legiTmate illness is a valid reason for reduced aQendance However, as partners with you in the educaTon of your child, it is important to note that reduced a;endance has a large impact on academic learning. Catholic EducaTon WA recommends the rate of 90% to 100% as ‘Regular A;endance’. Le;ers are being sent home next week if your child does not meet the regular a;endance rate. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher or myself if you would like to discuss any a;endance concerns.

Enjoy the rest of the week.
