Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to our Week Ten newsleJer.
I would like to thank our P&F ExecuNve for planning the recess days for our students. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience and there were many smiling faces and lots of excitement. I would like to extend special thanks to all of the wonderful parent helpers who gave up their Nme to ensure all of the food was ready and to the families that donated the food. What a great community we have!
Tomorrow we celebrate China Day with some fun acNviNes planned for students. This is an important day in our calendar where we celebrate our learning of Mandarin and Chinese culture.
We warmly invite families to join us for our end of Term Two Mass on Thursday at 9am in the Church. Everyone is welcome.
Our Year Six ChrisNan Service Ministry have organised a special day next Tuesday for the St Vincent De Paul’s Winter Appeal. Further informaNon is found later in the newsleJer, but I look forward to seeing some much needed food donaNons being raised for people in need.
This term we were very fortunate to have four students from Notre Dame University joining our teaching team on Prac. We have thoroughly enjoyed having Mr Hannah, Miss Walsh, Miss Warne-Trevor and Miss Kobi Smith in our school and we wish them all the best as they conNnue their studies and careers.
Mid Year Reports for Pre Primary to Year Six will be available via SEQTA on Wednesday 26 June at 3pm. All parents are asked to check that they are able to log into SEQTA via the link on the school website.
Term Two concludes on Friday 28 June. School resumes for Term Three on Tuesday 16 July for students.
Enjoy the last week of term.

Mid Year Reports Sem 1 2024
Understanding Your Child’s Report
You will receive two academic reports this year. A ‘Mid Year Report’ at the end of Semester One and ‘End of Year Report’ at the end of Semester Two. This has been changed from the reports that used to be called Semester One Report and Semester Two Report, in line with School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements.
Mid-Year Report
This report provides parents with a ‘snapshot in Nme’ of how their child is progressing in relaNon to the end of year achievement standard for each learning area for their year level. The grade provided is taking into account the curriculum which has been taught and assessed to that point in Nme.
End of Year Report
This report provides parents with an overview of how their child has progressed, across the enNre year, in relaNon to the end of year Achievement Standard for each learning area for their year level. The grade provided is taking into account the curriculum which has been taught and assessed across the enNre year, not just Semester Two.
In line with School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) requirements, the reports will no longer list the report descriptors that your child has been working towards in class. However, we encourage you to look at the Term Overviews, and weekly coummincaNons. sent out at the start of each term/week, and Seesaw for what your child has been learning about.
Understanding
the Five Step Grading System (A-E)
• ‘C Grade’ indicates that your child has progressed to the desired level of understanding for their year level.
• ‘C Grade’ is the expected Achievement Standard for each year level and each Learning Area.
• ‘A Grade’ or ‘B Grade’ means that your child is responding to the content taught to a deeper level. They may be thinking more criNcally about the content, which is a wonderful skill to demonstrate.
• Final grades are determined by teachers collecNng numerous samples of work and assessments. The grade is determined with the use of SCSA Judging Standards.
• ‘D’ and ‘E’ Grades reflect limited to very low achievement of what is expected for their year level. Your child’s teachers will arrange a Nme to discuss
their progress if they are receiving either of these grades.
We hope this informaNon assists you to understand the reporNng process at Infant Jesus School. If you have any further quesNons, please don’t hesitate to ask your child’s teacher.

3. You accurately represent the role you play in the educaNon, safety and well-being of students.
4. Where the educaNon, safety or well-being of a student requires expert knowledge or experience, you seek these out for the benefit of the student.

InformaNon Technology
Safe Sharing
There are lots of things you can do to take control of your online life; whether it’s installing the latest filters or keeping up to date with new apps. You can also help your child by simply seong a good example online. It might not always feel like it, but your child does noNce how you act and follow your lead. So it’s important to show them what safe sharing looks like when you use the internet.
If you use parental controls, talk to your child about them. Explain that you’re using the controls to keep them safe.
Talk to your child about how to report things on websites, and how to block content or people if they need to.
Think before you share. You might think it’s endearing or funny to share pictures or comments about your child, but would they? Think about how they may feel when they or their friends are old enough to have an Instagram account or a Facebook account and stumble upon the post of them.
Beware of posNng photos that contain idenNfying details, such as a school uniform, a homework folder with a full name on it or a leJerbox number. Openly discuss with your child why you are ediNng a photo, or posing differently to cover private details.
Think about whether it’s OK for your child to see what you’ve been viewing. Clear browser histories and cookies, to avoid your child seeing unsuitable content.
Don’t forget that news websites can show content that might upset your child. Take the same approach as you would with news on TV and in the papers.
