From the Principal

Lord Jesus Christ,

Help us appreciate more the need to keep a good balance in our lives. May the holiday be for us a >me of rest and recrea>on to help restore us and recreate us in your image and likeness, as we enjoy more of the love and presence of our families, on whom we ask your blessing. Amen.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to our Week 10 newsleOer.

What a busy term we have had. It is great to see so much work happening in the classrooms and a vibrant curriculum being taught to our children. We have also been involved in many events outside of the classroom and the formal curriculum. Our classes have gone on excursions, Performing Arts fesTval (both individuals, choir and ensemble), Incursions, Parent MeeTngs, Sacrament of Eucharist, School Photos, Infant Jesus Day, Father’s Day and Donuts with Dads, Book Week, BYOD Night, Open Classrooms, Cross Country, AthleTcs trials, One Big Voice, RUOK Day and the School Disco to name a few of the many events happening in the term. We would love parents to provide feedback regarding our open classrooms in Week 8. These surveys will close on the last day of this term.

This week, we need to say THANK YOU to our parents. At Infant Jesus School we have such a vibrant and acTve community. It is great to see so many people get involved and help out and support the school where needed. We also are thankful for the fabulous P&F execuOve and their team who work Trelessly behind the scenes to provide opportuniTes for our children and our wider community to conTnue to build and grow our Infant Jesus Spirit. Over the past term, our P&F has been involved in our Father's Day, Infant Jesus Day lunch, and our beloved School Disco. I know their quiet work o_en goes unnoTced, but we appreciate you and thank you for the many hours you all commit to the building of our school community.

On the 19th of October, we will be celebraTng our wonderful school by hosTng a 70th Anniversary Dinner Dance. It will be a cocktail event at $60 per person. See details and the invite below: hOps://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1273901. Please consider booking a table at this event to celebrate our 70 Years. Several tables have already been booked for this fabulous event.

As Mel menToned, work will commence shortly on the undercover area over the basketball court and is due for compleTon by the end of the year. We will be working with the builders to try to minimise the disrupTons. The undercover will be a fantasTc addiTon to our outdoor space, which can be used in all weather condiTons. We can’t wait to see the progress that happens over the school holidays.

Some important dates are scheduled in the Term 4 calendar which is aOached to this newsleOer. Term Four will definitely be a very busy term!

Enjoy the rest of the week and definitely enjoy the school holidays—we can’t wait to see your children refreshed and in full school summer uniform for the start of Term 4 on Tuesday, 8th October 2024 (Staff commence on Monday, 7 October).

A Three-Step Recipe to Great School Holidays With Your Kids -

Step 1: Limit The Kids’ Screen Time

“Time off screens allows for more relaTonships to develop and deepen, creaTvity to evolve, and physical acTvity to take place”.

Step 2: Get CreaOve With Holiday AcOviOes

A few suggesTons include

• Go outside for a walk around your local area. Walk the dog while the kids ride their bikes. Explore streets you’ve never been down before. Chat with the kids about their favourite houses, gardens and street names.

• Go ‘camping’ – in the garden, backyard or loungeroom.

• Take the kids for a day walk in a NaTonal Park, on a beach or in the city. Pack a picnic lunch to save money. Create a ‘treasure hunt’ list of things they can look out for on their walk. At the end of the walk share a reward like an icecream, or sit down together to make a video or photo album from the day.

• Have a holiday or ‘Read-a-thon’ day.

• Open the games cupboard and get your kids playing the simple old-fashioned entertainment you used to enjoy yourself as a kid. Games like Kerplunk, Jenga, Pick-UpSTcks, Scrabble, board games or card games will wake up parts of their brain that o_en don’t get used during the normal daily rouTne.

• Have a “Cra_ernoon” – an a_ernoon of cra_. Pull out all the cra_ and art supplies, look up a few creaTve ideas on the internet or at the library, and create something memorable.

• Hold a bake-off. Let the kids loose in the kitchen to cook something. Supply them with ingredients, recipes and ideas. “They’re going to make a mess, deal with it,” says Dr Coulson. “Kids are not meant to be Tdy all the Tme.” At the end of their session, turn up the music and help them clean up.

• Visit the local Library – to borrow books and join in the free holiday acTviTes including listening to stories, creaTng short films and dancing!

• Visit the Museum or Art Gallery– to see and join in the free holiday acTviTes including ‘visiTng Egypt’, seeing ‘remarkable repTles’ and cracking codes.

Step 3: Remember - Boredom is OKAY!

While you can plan ahead to fight the boredom blues, remember that it’s actually okay for your kids to get a bit listless

Year Three

It’s All About The Maths…..

Year Three Students have been busy learning all about two and three dimensional shapes, symmetry and transiTons of shapes.

Our symmetry monsters didn’t turn out as scary as we had first anTcipated, as we pracTsed how to measure from the line of symmetry, and rule guidelines to create a mirror image as close as possible to the original.

Students have also been invesTgaTng properTes of various shapes and deciphering crypTc clues to create “What Shape Am I?” puzzles.

One Big Voice

The excitement was palpable as our school choir took the stage at the RAC Arena in Perth for the One Big Voice fesTval. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was electric. The students were buzzing with anTcipaTon, eager to perform the songs they had pracTsed for months.

Our choir’s performance was nothing short of spectacular. The students sang their hearts out, delivering each song with passion and precision. Highlights include their rendiTon of “Do the Right Thing,” an original song about making posiTve choices, and “Yellow” by Coldplay, which had the audience swaying along.

Here’s to many more harmonious adventures in the future!

P&F and Community News

Infant Jesus Day

This year the P&F supplied over 170 pizzas for lunch to the students, staff and parents. Thank you to the parents who collected the pizzas and helped run pizzas to classrooms. Thank you to the volunteers who also helped run the drinks stall. We would like to say a very big thank you to the following businesses for supporTng us and donaTng to the pizza lunch.

Nu-Style Shufers Ross Realty

Pop and Rock Disco

Domino’s Pizza Noranda

What an incredible response we had to the disco! Over 380 children turned up in their best pop and rock outfits to dance the night away. They had so much fun, and it was great to see so many of them enjoying themselves with their friends.

This year we included a sausage sizzle and juice box in the cost of the disco Tcket, and it was very well received. The children were able to collect their hot dog and juice throughout the night and purchase food and glow sTcks from the canteen. A big thank you goes out to Adam, Mark, Dom, Eric, Awlio and Daniel for cooking and making the sausage sizzles.

The night would not have been possible without the many volunteers who helped make it happen. An enormous thank you goes to Melissa Tartaglia and Lara Cameron for taking on the organisaTon, coordinaTon and execuTon of the decoraTons. The hall looked incredible, and the children and parents were blown away by what you had created. Your talents and Tme are very much appreciated, and we couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you also to all the people who volunteered their Tme during the day to help set up the decoraTons.

A big thank you to Nell, Victoria and Marion, who spent majority of the day making sure everything was ready so the night would run smoothly, and to everyone who helped on the night with supervision, the canteen and the clean-up. These events aren’t possible without the support of the community, so thank you very much!

We would also like to thank these businesses for supporTng us and donaTng to the disco.

Bovells Bakery Princi the Butcher North Perth
