THE MIRACLE

REVIVING ISLAM

It is the Sunnah of Allah Ta'aala that whenever He sends a messenger, He would blessthemwithmiraclessothattheirpeople would understand and accept that the messengers are speaking the truth. The people of Thamud used to carve homes out ofmountains.WhenAllahTa’aala sentSaalih مﻼﺴﻟا ﻪﻴﻠﻋ as a messenger to Thamud he showed them that they could create homes out of mountains, but Allah Ta’aala can create life out of mountains. In the time of Fir'oun the people excelled in Sihr. The magicians tricked the people into thinking thattheirstickswereactuallymovingsnakes when, in fact, it was a mere illusion Allah Ta’aalashowedthemthattheycanonlytrick peoplebutAllahTa’aalacancreatelifeoutof a staff. In the time of Easa مﻼﺴﻟا ﻪﻴﻠﻋ the Romans prided themselves in the art of medicine, they were of the opinion that

nobody in their time had surpassed them in terms of healing and medicine Allah Ta'aala showed them that only He can make a blind person who has never seen before able to see, onlyhecancuretheleper, andbringthe dead back to life. Allah Ta’aala sent to every nation a miracle relevant to them so that they could appreciate the miracle. Our Rasūlullah ﷺ was sent to the Arabs, people who prided themselves in eloquence and poetry. The best poetry of the time would be hung on the Ka'bah Shareef. The Arabs used tothinkthatnoonecouldsupercedethemin eloquence. So Allah Ta’aala showed them and revealed the Quraan to Rasulullah ﷺ , a person who was not known for being a poet, Rasūlullah ﷺ had no poetic experience nor could he read and write. Rasūlullah ﷺ said, "Every Prophet was given miracles because ofwhichpeoplebelieved, butwhatIhavehat

ThemiracleoftheQuraanissogreatthatall themiraclesofthepreviousAmbiyaa donot come close in comparison to the miracle of the Quraan Shareef The language in which the Quraan Shareef is revealed presents the highest and most perfect form of Arabic literature. Every word and sentence meets the best of criteria devised, and so does its subject matter. To emphasize a certain idea, for example, it repeats the same subject matter a number of times, yet this description comes afresh each time. From thefirstsentencetothelast, itswordsareknit harmoniously and beautifully together. And the message of the Quraan Kareem is so effective that a listener even an opponent, cannot help but be enamored by the very sound of its words. Even though more than 1,400 years have passed since the revelation oftheQuraanKareem, itisthebestspecimen of its language, and no other book comes close to it it serves as the ultimate literary criterion for the Arabic language. While most languages have either vanished or greatly changed over such a long period, it is only the Qur'an that has kept Arabic as a living progressivelanguage.Noneofitswordshave become obsolete and its every idiom is very much in use today. Rather, it serves as the bestofliteraryexamplesandisquotedoften to make a valid point or to stress it authoritatively The Quraan Kareem is also divinely protected by Allah Ta'aala. Allah Ta’aalasaysintheQuraanKareem:

It is certainly We Who have revealed the Reminder, and it is certainly We Who will preserve it.

AllahTa’aalahaspreservedtheQuraanKareem both by heart and in writing. Since the dawn of Islaam, Muslims memorized the Quraan Kareem byheartanddocumentedit.AbuBakrﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر had the Quraan Kareem compiled into a single copy, and Uthmaan ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر had copies of it sent to important Islaamic cities The Quraan Kareem does not contain any discrepancies. ThisshowsthatitisfromAllahandisimmuneto change. The Quraan Kareem is beautifully consistent and in full agreement with historical developments and scientific discoveries. This attribute is so certain and explicit that Allah Ta'aala says many contradictions can be found in regular books. However, every word of the Quraan Kareem is in full agreement with the others. In addition, the Quraan Kareem provides information about previous generations, communities, different forms of administration, military strategies, and many other subjects, as well as about past and future events. The Quraan Kareem also is in absolute agreement with historical facts as well as all developments that occurred after its revelation. It is an amazingfeatthatachildevenatthetenderage of five is able to memorise the Quraan Kareem. Gleaming lamps

A short account of the Sahaabah ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر and pious personalities

Abdullah ibn Abbaas bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abd Manaf Qurashi Hashimi ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was the paternal cousin of the Rasūlullah ﷺ and the maternal cousin of Khalid Bin Waleed ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر He was also the nephew of Ummul Mu’mineen Maymoonah bint Al Harith (R.A.) He was born three years before the Hijrah (approx 619 CE) When Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was born his mother took him to Rasūlullah ﷺ who put some of his saliva on the baby's tongue even before he began to suckle He was thirteen when Rasūlullah ﷺ passed away This was the beginning of the close and intimate tie between Abdullah Ibn Abbas ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر and Rasūlullah ﷺ that was to be part of a life long love and devotion

An ocean of knowledge

Abdullah ibn Abbaas ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was known as Bahrul Uloom, an ocean of knowledge, because of his vast knowledge Once while Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was by Rasūlullah ﷺ, Rasūlullah ﷺ embraced him and said “O Allah, teach him wisdom and the (correct) interpretation of the Book.”. Due to this Du’aa of Rasūlullah ﷺ, Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر became one of the most prominent scholars of the entire Ummah. It was narrated that Ibn Abi Nujayh said: I have never seen the like of Ibn ‘Abbaas On the day he died, he was the most prominent scholar of this ummah Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqaas said: I never saw anyone who was more quick witted or smarter or more knowledgeable or more patient in dealing with people than Ibn ‘Abbaas I saw ‘Umar calling him to ask him about some difficult issues, saying: Here you are, we have this difficult issue Then he would go along with whatever he suggested, even though around him were people of Badr, from among the

the Muhaajireen and Ansaar.

Attachment to Rasūlullah ﷺ

When Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر reached the age of discretion, he attached himself to the service of Rasūlullah ﷺ When Rasūlullah ﷺ wished to perform wudhu Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر would run to fetch water for him He would stand behind Rasūlullah ﷺ in Salaah and when Rasulullah ﷺ went out on journeys or expeditions, he would follow next in line to him. Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر thus became like the shadow of Rasūlullah ﷺ, constantly in his company.

His thirst for knowledge

During the lifetime of Rasūlullah ﷺ, Abdullah ﻲﺿر ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ would not miss any of his assemblies and he would commit to memory whatever he said After Rasūlullah ﷺ passed away, he would take care to go to as many companions as possible especially those who knew Nabi ﷺ longer, and learn from them what Nabi ﷺ had taught them Whenever he heard that someone knew a hadith of the Rasūlullah ﷺ which he did not know, he would go quickly to him and record it He would subject whatever he heard to close scrutiny and check it against other reports He would go to as many as thirty companions to verify a single matter In this way, the dedicated Abdullah ﷲ ﻲﺿر ﻪﻨﻋ would ask, and ask, and go on asking And he would sift and scrutinize the information he had collected with his keen and meticulous mind

RABI UL ĀKHIR 1444 VOL. 1 | ISSUE 4

An expert in all fields

It was not only in the collection of hadith that Abdullah specialized He devoted himself to acquiring knowledge in a wide variety of fields He had a special admiration for Hadhrat Zaid ibn Thabit ﻲﺿر ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ, the recorder of the revelation, the leading judge and jurist consult in Madinah, an expert in the laws of inheritance, and in reading the Quraan When Zaid intended to go on a trip, the young Abdullah would stand humbly at his side taking hold of the reins of his mount adopting the attitude of a humble servant in the presence of his master. Zaid would say to him: "Don't, O cousin of the Prophet ” “Thus we were commanded to treat the learned ones among us,” Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر would say And Zaid ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر would say to him in return: “Let me see your hand ” Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر would stretch out his hand Zaid ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر taking it, would kiss it and say: “Thus we were commanded to treat the Ahlul Bayt, members of the household of the Prophet ”

His virtues

Ameerul Mu’mineen Umar ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر held Abdullah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر in high regard He used to include Abdullah ibn Abbas’s ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, despite his young age, with the senior Muhaajireen and Ansaar It was narrated by Az Zuhri ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر that the Muhaajireen ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر used to say to Umar ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر: Why do you not invite our sons as you invite Ibn Abbaas? Umar ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر said: He is a young man who spends time with mature men; he keeps asking questions in order to learn and he is smart [Al Majmoo‘ al Mugheeb]

Amr ibn Habashi ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر said: I asked Ibn Umar about a verse and he said: “Go to Ibn Abbaas and ask him, for he is the most knowledgeable among those who are left of what Allah ﷻ revealed to Muhammad ﷺ” [Al Isaabah]

Ubaydullah ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Utbah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر said: Ibn Abbaas ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر surpassed people in the following characteristics: Knowledge of those who came before him, maturity so that people would need his advice, forbearance, good lineage, and virtue. I have never seen anyone with greater knowledge of the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ than him, or of the Fatwas of

Fatwas of Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthmaan

ﻢﻬﻨﻋ, or anyone who was more mature in thinking than him, or anyone who had more knowledge of poetry, Arabic language, interpretation of the Qur’an, mathematics, and shares of inheritance, or with more knowledge of the past, or who was more sound in offering advice when needed He would sit (and teach people) on a particular day, and teach nothing but fiqh; on another day he would teach nothing but the interpretation of the Qur’an, and on other days he would teach nothing but the campaigns of Rasūlullah ﷺ, or nothing but poetry, or nothing but the history of the Arabs I have never seen any scholar who sat with him but he to him, and I have never seen anyone ask him a question but he found an answer with him.

His progeny and demise

Ibn Katheer ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر said: Ibn Abbaas had two sons: al Abbaas, and Ali who was called al Sajjaad (one who prostrates a great deal) because he used to pray much He was the most handsome Qurashi on the face of the earth It was said that he used to pray one thousand raka’aat every day, or every night and day, in addition to what he had been blessed with of perfect beauty According to this, he [i e , Abdullah ibn Abbaas] was the father of the Abbasid caliphs, and the Abbasid caliphs were among his descendants [Al Bidaayah wa’n Nihaayah]

Hadhrat Sa'eed bin Jubair ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر narrates: "Hadhrat Ibn Abbaas ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر passed away in Taa'if I was present at his Janaazah when such a bird appeared, the likeness of which had not been seen before The bird then entered into the bier We then looked and wondered as to whether or not the bird had come out of the bier. Finally, when the burial was over; the recitation of the following verses was heard from the qabr:

(To the Righteous, it will be said), 'O Reassured Soul! Return to your Rabb in a manner well pleased and pleasing (to Him) And enter among my righteous servants! And enter My Paradise!'”

What a wonderful demise! May Allah Ta’aala grant us even a drop of the knowledge of Bahrul Uloom and make us like him Āmin

Saved Through

On one occasion, Ibn Furaat summoned a certain scribe and said to him:

Woe to you! I had sinister intentions in your regard and always wanted to arrest you and confiscate your wealth. However, for a few nights, I have been seeing a strange dream wherein I issued an order for your arrest which you somehow resisted. So I next ordered my soldiers to attack you, but whenever they fired an arrow at you or attempted to strike you with a weapon, you successfully defended yourself with a loaf of bread that you held in your hand. As a result, none of our attacks could reach you. Tell me, what is the secret behind this bread? The scribe replied, "O minister! Since I was a small child, my mother would place a loaf of bread beside my pillow when I went to sleep at night. The following morning, she would give it in sadaqah (charity) on my behalf. My mother continued to do this until she passed away. After her demise, I continued with this practice, and thus place a loaf of bread beside my pillow every night, giving it in charity the following morning."

When the minister, Ibn Furaat heard this, he was astonished and said," By Allah! I will never be able to harm you! In fact, (having learnt of your excellent practice,) I now wish well for you and my heart has been filled with love for you."

DAZZLING DAMSELS

Stories of pious Muslimahs from the past

eloved

In the era of supermodels and actresses, influencers and bloggers, one will come to find that young Muslimahs do not know the details and history of the Ummahaatul Mu'mineen. Rather, they are mesmerised and have memorised everything there is to know about their western “role models”. It might be that one or two famous stories of the Umahaatul Mu’mineen are known to them, yet, there is no interest to learn more about these dazzling damsels.

Her lineage and early

life

Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was born in Makkah Mukkarramah Her father was Abdullah bin Uthman, more famously known as Hadhrat Abu Bakr ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, and her mother was Umme Rumaan ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر. Umme Rumaan ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was praised by Rasūlullah: “The person who wants to see a Woman of Jannah should look at Umme Rumaan” Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر had one sister, Asmaa ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, and three brothers: Abdur Rahmaan, Abdullah and Muhammad ﻲﺿر

ﻢﻬﻨﻋﷲ. Abdur Rahmaan ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر was born from the same mother, Umme Rumaan ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر. Asmaa and Abdullah ﺎﻤﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر were born from Qutailah, the second wife of Abu Bakr ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر And Muhammad ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر was born from Asmaa Binte Umais ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر, the third wife of Abu Bakr. Asmaa bint Umais ﻲﺿر ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲ was the widow of Jafar bin Abi Taalib ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر, who was martyred in the Battle of Mu’tah. Since Hadhrat Abu Bakr ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر was the first man to accept Islam and Umme Rumaan ﷲﻲﺿر ﺎﻬﻨﻋ was an early Muslim, Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر was born into Islam and grew up in a home filled with piety and righteousness

Marriage to Rasulullah ﷺ

Initially, Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was proposed to Jubayr, the son of Mut’im bin Adiyy. In the pre Islamic era, the Arabs used to arrange the marriages of their children at a very young age This arrangement was only a promise and when the children reached an

RABI-UL-ĀKHIR 1444 VOL. 1 | ISSUE 4

reached an age of maturity, the marriage would be carried out. This was the case with Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر. Her father, agreed to engage her to Jubayr However later on, the family of Mut’im feared that he would forsake his religion after marrying Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, so they cancelled the proposal This worked in favour of Abu Bakr ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر and Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر, as they received a proposal from Rasūlullah ﷺ via Khawlah bint Hakeem ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر

Her nicknames

Rasūlullah ﷺ used to call her Humayrah, affectionately, due to the reddish complexion on her cheeks Sometimes he would call her Uwaysh, Aaish, bint Siddiq, or bint Abi Bakr. Even though Aaisha ﷺ did not have any children of her own, she was given the title of Umme Abdillah due to the son of her sister, Abdullah bin Zubair ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر.

Knowledge and Service to the Ummah Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر narrated 2210 Ahaadith from Rasūlullah ﷺ, more than any other wife of Rasūlullah ﷺ Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was very intelligent, eloquent and observant Mu’aawiyah ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر says regarding Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, “I have not come across any speaker more eloquent than Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر”

It was because of her enquiring mind and sound memory, we learn many Ahaadith, important duas and noble practices of Rasūlullah ﷺ which he used to do at home. Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر gave us insight into the private life of Rasūlullah ﷺ: the way Rasūlullah ﷺ would sleep, bath, drink, and engage himself in the household Abu Salamah bin Abdur Rahmaan bin Awf ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر said: "I did not see anyone who knew the Sunnah better than Aaisha No one possessed more knowledge about Fiqh or was better acquainted with where each verse or declaration was revealed." [Ibn Sa'd Tabaqat]

She excelled in the fields of Hadith, Jurisprudence, Poetry, History and even Medicine Many senior Sahabah ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر used to consult her in intricate matters of Deen such as inheritance

The necklace and Tayammum

Once, while Rasūlullah ﷺ and the Sahaabah ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر were returning from the Banu Mustaliq Campaign, they halted for the night at a place that did not have water. Aaisha ﻲﺿر ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲ lost the necklace that she was wearing, which belonged to Asmaa ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر. Rasūlullah ﷺ held back the entire caravan, so that the necklace of Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر could be found. The Sahaabah ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر did not have sufficient water to perform ablution and as a result, the concession of Tayammum was revealed to the Ummah This made the Sahaabah ﻢﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر elated, since water was generally a scarce commodity. Usaid bin Hudhair ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر remarked: "O family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first of your blessings In fact, due to your good fortune, a number of concessions in divine commandments have already been revealed." [Bukhaari] Referring to the incident of slander and the verses of exoneration that were revealed to declare the innocence and prove the chastity of Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر.

Generosity and Abstinence

Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر was extremely generous, afterall, her father was Abu Bakr ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر and she inherited his quality of magnanimity. Umme Durrah, who used to visit Aaisha ﷲﻲﺿر ﺎﻬﻨﻋ often, relates: “On one occasion, Abdullah bin Zubair ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر sent two bundles of money to Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر The money amounted to approximately 180 000 dirhams. Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر immediately began distributing the money. By the evening she did not have a single dirham left She was fasting. When the sun set, she asked her servant to present some food. She brought some bread and olive oil Umme Durrah said to her: “Had you bought some meat for one dirham, it would have been good for you”

RABI UL ĀKHIR 1444 VOL 1 | ISSUE 4

Urwah bin Zubair ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, the nephew of Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر, says, “I saw Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر distributing 70 000 Dirhams at a time when she was wearing patched clothes” [Ibn Sa'd Tabaqat 8:67]

Aaisha's ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر room was simple and small When it became necessary to extend the Masjid of Rasūlullah ﷺ and the deconstruction of Aaisha's ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر home was discussed, Saeed bin Musayyab ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر, a famous Tabi'ee said to the Khalifah of the time, Walid bin Abdul Malik: "I wish you did not have to destroy this room so that people could be content with what they possess. The future generations could understand what kind of life Rasūlullah ﷺ was pleased with, even thought he had in his hand the key to the world's treasures." [Ibn Sa'd, Tabaqat 1:506]

The family of Rasūlullah ﷺ never ate wheat bread three days in a row until he passed away. [Bukhaari 5059] They would go over a month without lighting the fire to cook a meal. At times, three full moons would pass and they would only eat dates and drink zam zam water [Bukhaari 6094]

In the last few days of the life of Rasūlullah ﷺ there was no oil to light the lamp in the home of Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر. Aaisha

ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ sent their empty oil lamp to a woman and asked her for a few drops of oil in order to light the room

Her virtues

Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر was praised by many of the Sahabah and Tabi'een. However, she herself relates: “I was favoured over you with ten special blessings and I do not say this with pride (but rather to express gratitude to Allah Ta‘ala. These ten special blessings are that) I was the most beloved of Rasūlullah

ﷺ from all his wives and my father was the most beloved to him (from all the Sahaabah ﷲ ﻲﺿر ﻪﻨﻋ)

Rasūlullah ﷺ married me as a virgin, whereas he did not marry any other woman who was a virgin besides me. Rasūlullah ﷺ married me at the age of seven, and I went to live with him when I was nine (When I was falsely accused of zina,) my exoneration and the declaration of my innocence descended from the sky (as revelation to be recorded in the Quraan Majeed)

When Rasūlullah ﷺ was in his final illness, he asked his wives permission saying, ‘It is difficult for me to continue moving between your homes (giving each of you your due turn). Hence, allow me to remain with one of you’ When Rasūlullah ﷺ said that, Ummi Salamah ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر said, ‘We understand what it is that you wish – you wish to stay at the home of Aaishah ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر. We have given you permission to do so (as this is what pleases you)’

The final thing to be placed in the blessed mouth of Rasūlullah ﷺ in the world was my saliva. A miswaak was brought to Rasūlullah ﷺ, and he asked me to chew it for him and soften it for him, which I did (and he then used the miswaak, due to which my saliva was in his blessed mouth when he departed from this world). (Finally,) Rasūlullah ﷺ departed from this world while reclining on me, (with his blessed head) between my lap and my chest, and he was buried in my home” [Siyaru Aa’laamin Nubalaa vol. 2, pg. 147]

Her demise

Aaisha ﺎﻬﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر lived for 48 years after the demise of Rasūlullah ﷺ. She passed away in the year 57 (AH) at the age of 66 Hadhrat Abu Hurairah ﻪﻨﻋﷲﻲﺿر performed her Janazah Salaah and she is buried in Jannatul Baqi in Madinah Munawwarah. Her nephews: Qaasim ibn Muhammad, Abdullah ibn AbdurRahmaan, Abdullah ibn Abi Ateeq, Urwah bin Zubair and Abdullah ibn Zubair ﻪﻨﻋ ﷲ ﻲﺿر lowered her into her grave May Allah ﷻ make us intelligent with beautiful qualities just like our mother Aaisha ﻲﺿر ﺎﻬﻨﻋﷲ and unite us with her in Jannah, Âmîn

THE RISE AND FALL empire OF THE

1: THE BEGINNING

OTTOMAN

The Ottomans, also known as the Dawlatul Uthmaani was a Turkish Islamic state that ruled over large portions of Asia and Europe. This is by far the longest standing Islamic state ever, with it being officially recordedtohavestartedintheyear1299andendingin 1923 (A.D), this great state has been in power for 624 years. Although there are multiple opinions as to when it actually ended, as some may argue that the state had actually dissolved along with the imprisonment of Sultan Abdul Hamid Han II ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر in 1909, for historical purposes and statistics, we will keep to the initially mentioned dates. The Ottomans inherited their rulershipfromtheGreatSeljuqs.TheSeljuqscamefrom the noble bloodline of Seljuq Ghazi, who accepted Islaam after migrating to the lands of the Abbaasid dynasty.ItwasatthistimethattheTurksfoundlovefor Islaam and Rasūlullah ﷺ and where they swore allegiance to the Abbaasid Khilafah. Ever since, their statehasservedtheKhilafahrelentlessly.Manyoftheir great rulers such as Sultan Tuğrul, Sultan Alp Arslan, Sultan Melikşah and Sultan Ahmad Sançar have obeyed and carried out the order of the Khilafah and conquered many lands. They became deputies of the Khilafah. During the reign of the Büyük Selçuklu (Great Seljuqs) the Mongols spread and had begun conquering lands, drawing closer and closer to the Seljuq borders. The Mongolians were ruthless and extremely powerful, they fought on many fronts and conqueredmanylandssimultaneously.Duringthetime that the Mongol threat had presented itself, the Seljuq Empire sought the help of its Turkmen tribes who lived within their lands. The Turkmen tribes were nomadic and kept true to Turkic tradition by living in tents and herding animals They had specially trained and very skillful warriors known as the Alps or Alparen Amongst thesetribeswasatribeknownastheKayitribe(Turkish: Kayi Obası), which was ruled by Ertuğrul Bey, son of Suleyman Shah During this time of distress, Sultan Aladin Keykubad of the Seljuqs reached out to the Turkic tribesmen and called for a meeting to devise strategiesagainsttheMongolianarmy Amongstthose whowereinvitedwasErtuğrulBey WhenhemetSultan Aladin, they had already known of each other due to Ertuğrulsnamespreadingsofarandwide, thiswasdue to his fight against oppression, his bravery, and his leadership The Sultan honoured him and treated him with great respect During this meeting, the Sultan caughtaglimpseofErtuğrulsmagnificentmindand

It is key to note that his goal was world domination, therefore sooner or later he would have come to Muslim lands even if Jalaludeen had handed over his governor. Years later the army of Çengiz Khan ruled by Mongke, his grandson, had led armiesfurtherintoAsiaunderthecommandofMongke's brother, Hülagu Khan. They eventually entered Baghdad in the year 1258 A.D with the help of corrupt statesmen and pillaged the city, bringing an end to the Abbaasid Khilafah. Many historians like Ibn Katheer ﷲ ﻪﻤﺣر write aboutthisincident.Theymentionthatmanyhadthought thesewerethearmiesofYajujandMajuj.Peoplehadlost hope. Many were slaughtered, while others hid in sewers and tunnels to save themselves from the blade of the Mongols. In short, the Ummah was scattered and lost hope. However, Allah is "ﻦﻳﺮﻛﺎﻤﻟا ﺮﻴﺧ " The best of planners. Allah's plan was so great that on one hand the Ummah was looking around hopeless, thinking that the Islaamic world has perished, on the other hand, during the same year, Allah had already taken measures to preserve Islaam for the next (almost) 650 years. This is the supreme decree and its power. Osman Ghazi I was born to Ertuğrul Ghazi, son of Suleyman Shah, in the year 1258 in Soğut. The suhbah (companionship) of the awliyaa is the only sure means of acquiring moral akhlaaq, and nearness to Allah The studying of their lives, sayings, and anecdotes will most certainly imbue in the heart the yearning for Allah

To be proud of a blessing is pride but to consider it a gift from Allah & keep in mind your incompetence is thankfulness.

“As far as possible, keep good thoughts about people. If you hear something about someone and it can be interpreted in two ways i.e. good and bad, then choose the good interpretation. Always have good thoughts in your mind about people.”

“Whoever will hold onto Quraan, his generations Imaan will be looked after, his mind will never become an athiest mind, his body will never crave drugs, dirt or filth. Through this Quraan, such a person becomes a light for his own self, a light for his household and a light for his whole town. It had created miracles since the beginning of time and it will continue creating miracles,”

A pious man said “if we feared Jahannum as much as we fear poverty, we are already Jannati's”

Imaam as Shafi'i was asked, “how do you seek knowledge?” he replied “Like a mother frantically searching for her missing child”

All All

Rabi ul Âkhir, also known as Rabi uth Thâni is the fourth month in the Islamic calendar and translates to ‘the second/last spring’, it refers to the end of the spring period as the Pre Islaamic Arabs would usually name months according to the weather conditions

While no specific acts of worship have been prescribed for the month of Rabi-ul-Âkhir, it is encouraged to perform as much Nafl Ibaadah, which is derived from the Sunnah, as one is capable of. This includes:

Fasting Mondays and Thursdays as well as the Ayyaamul Beedh (white days), which comprises of the 13th, 14th and 15th of every lunar month

To give Sadaqah (charity) as a means of removing our sins and as a means of gratitude for the countless bounties given to us by Almighty Allah

To perform various Nafl Salaah

To make the Thikr of Allah, by reading the Quran as well as through contemplation

May Allah grant us the abilty to practice upon the Sunnah of His most beloved, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ

Dear Muslimah,

Many times we find that people, especially younger women suffer from negative body image. They cannot help but wonder why they look a certain way and why do they not look another way Young innocent girls fall into this trap with the temptation of social media and fashion magazines. The West has carved a single prototype of beauty which they expect everyone to mould themselves into If you do not have lips that are broad, or a body that is curvy with a waist that is unhealthily thin, or even cheeks that are high, you are not beautiful enough Such are the insane demands society has placed on us.

Allah Ta'aala has created us with beauty We are all beautiful no matter how we look. If we were not beautiful we would not have to recite the Duaa when looking into the mirror

OALLAH,JUSTASYOUHAVEMADEMYEXTERNALFEATURESBEAUTIFUL, MAKEMYCHARACTERBEAUTIFULASWELL.

The Duaa is not there only for attractive people, however, it is there for everyone From this Duaa we also learn that beauty is only skin deep, what really matters is that our character be beautiful. Many a times you will find people who are beautiful, yet their character is exceedingly ugly And, you will find people who do not necessarily fit into societies brackets of beauty, yet, their character sparkles with elegance Never conform to what society wants from you, conform to what Allah and His Rasool ﷺ wants from you.

May Allah Ta'aala guide us all
