For Halloween I’ve decided to watch seasonal movies I’ve never seen before and do a special FX makeup based off of each one. This means I’ve been able to indulge in two of my favourite hobbies: watching and reviewing films, and doing sfx makeup in order to “cosplay” each character.

I’ve had so much fun with these and have noticed a massive improvement in my work. The two makeups I am most proud of are these.

Ready or Not

The first two photos are based on the movie 'Ready Or Not' (I highly recommend watching this as it's very entertaining and thrilling!) I loved how messy I could get with this one - knowing where to place the blood in order for it to look like a natural splatter is much more difficult than you might think.

Coraline

The last two photos are based on the movie ‘Coraline’ - which was such an inspiringly artistic movie. I recreated the Other Mother in her final form, which was surprisingly scary for a family film villain.

Both of these makeups are at such opposite ends of the skill spectrum, one being a full bodypaint and the other being very gory and gruesome. I’m really happy with how both turned out and have so much more to come!
