Since the start of our relationship, one thing has been crystal clear: Elliot, my boyfriend, is a Christmas Nut, and I am a Halloween Fiend. It’s been a work in progress getting the other person to accept our stance on those particular holidays, as we’re both incredibly stubborn people.

However, I will admit that Elliot made massive strides last year for our anniversary, which takes place at the end of November. To get me into the Christmas spirit, he created a to-do list full of Christmassy events to complete at the Bath Christmas market. This was incredibly clever as he knows I’m a complete sucker for a to-do list and WILL tick every box if it’s the last thing I do. My day included buying a mince pie, seeing Santa, and watching Muppets Christmas Carol – I ticked off every item and I loved it.

This year it was my turn. To celebrate my favourite time of year, I created Elliot his very own Halloween to-do list, which included buying a pumpkin from the local farm shop (because I’ the kind of person who has a local farm shop), and watching a spooky film from a list I provided – we went with Hocus Pocus. This list consisted of 10 things meant to be completed in one day, but due to work and the current circumstances, we had to split it over two days.

2. Carve a pumpkin

10. Make a candle

5. Make a pecan pie

8. Decorate a room

Overall, I think he enjoyed himself and I’ve maybe succeeded in converting him – just a little – into a Halloween lover.

Well, there we go! That was Hallowzine.

This year’s Halloween has been unlike any other so I wanted to create something that may offer a much-needed spooky respite from the general craziness, and I hope I’ve been able to provide that.

I hope you’ve enjoyed yourself, I know it’s not been anything spectactular, but maybe you could forgive me this time. Just remind me to never attempt to make a zine in a month ever again.
