Ten successful years of IARM (2003-2013) Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia – IARM has been established with the Law on Accreditation (“Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia”, No.54/2002) and the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia for establishment of IARM (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia”, No.14/2003). The Law on Accreditation regulates the establishment, organization and operation of the Institute for Accreditation of the Republic of Macedonia, as public institution that performs the tasks and duties of the national accreditation service, including the procedures for accreditation on the basis of this and other laws, as well as surveillance over the fulfillment of the accreditation requests. From the very beginning of the operations, IARM started introducing and building the accreditation system, in accordance with the relevant European and international accreditation standards. Furthermore, the priority is the promotion of the accreditation system with all its advantages domestically, including familiarization of the entrepreneurs, but also the citizens with its benefits,
to understand the meaning of the quality, how to look for it and how to recognize it. Besides the domestic, activities have been performed on international level also, including establishing and building cooperation with other similar institutions, as well as work towards becoming members of the big families such as European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). Already, in 2007 IARM became а full member of EA and in 2008 an associated member of International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). IARM continuously operates in light of maintaining and upgrading the established accreditation system, which means consistent monitoring of the changes, amendments and novelties of the standard requirements and harmonization of the relevant documents from the quality management system (regulations and procedures). Also, IARM established a system for assessment of persons that can be included in the official list of IARM assessors – lead and technical assessors and experts.
