#UKHIF ION T C U D O R T IN #UKHIF has become the leading forum for CCGs, NHS Trusts and local councils to develop their strategic approach to integration of health and social care across the UK. Delegates from across health and social care attend to gain a key insight into the role effective technology implementation plays in achieving person centric integrated services. As part of the long running #UKHIF series, our forums are here to break down barriers between organisations, providing an open, interactive platform for discussion that is directed by industry experts who understand the everyday challenges being faced across health and social care. Structured, intelligent and interactive discussion between senior industry experts is seen as the key approach to improving services across the UK. This is where the #UKHIF is playing a vital role in the development and uptake of technology supported health and social care projects. We have a great opportunity to share knowledge and best practice between health and social care providers, applying models and approaches that already exist and therefore saving valuable resources and time. This replication results in an improvement in how patients and their families manage the care journey and see better outcomes for patients. Officials from National Government, NHS England, NHS Trusts, CCGs, Social Care Organisations, 3rd Sector and Technology Suppliers all play an active role in the forum, sharing experiences and gathering key information that will enhance existing strategic approaches. Representatives of private sector organisations benefit by hearing first hand what each stakeholder is looking to achieve and their specific pain points, at the same time having the opportunity to validate the features and benefits of their products by answering specific questions from potential clients. “#UKHIF is a refreshingly open forum for knowledge sharing and showcasing fabulous work going on daily across the public and third sector

HOW THE DAY WORKS Influencing change in key areas: Existing organisational cultures - changing the mindset of health and social care providers along with the public to understand the benefits of integration. Identifying a shared language - between patients / care providers, commissioners / providers and commissioners / providers / private sector. The fear of data sharing - providers and patients need to be educated as to the major benefits this can have on their services and reassured of the security that is in place to keep this data secure. Interoperability of technology - reducing individual effort is key to successful participation and engagement, technology that talks to each other is vital for swift uptake and providers need to see this in action. Interactive Panel Sessions: The panel sessions make up the core of the forum and are used to create an interactive, animated discussion between delegates. Each panel will feature six delegates from across the UK responsible for health and social care integration. The agenda for the session will be formulated and developed throughout the build up to the forum, all registered delegates will have a chance to contribute themes and topics for discussion which ensures the very latest subjects will be addressed. Audience delegates will be given the option to submit questions prior to the forum that will be delivered in a “Question Time style throughout the panel sessions. Innovation in Action Showcase: Creating a platform for innovation and new approaches to emergency response, the showcase will allow up to six delegates to provide short, 20 minute presentations that highlight the ways in which innovative techniques have been used to improve services. Interaction Spaces: To progress the discussions as far as possible on the day, we create an area that features six selected NHS Trusts and technology vendors. Delegates will be on hand to highlight project requirements and to demonstrate the best way to overcome specific challenges discussed during the panel and networking sessions.

David Alexander Co-founder / Chief Executive

Chris Day Director of Engagement

“We were delighted to be involved with #UKHIF in 2016 during a challenging time for health and social care with transformation, improvement and active participation of the citizens squarely on the agenda. As a community interest company seeking to equip and empower individuals to be active participants in their own care and well being taking an active role in the advisory board is the logical next step in commitment for us. These challenges will not be met without the secure, seamless exchange of trustworthy data about individuals to those that need it to support delivery of care by the clusters of service providers and individuals charged with its efficient, effective and efficacious delivery.”

“Following our participation at the recent #UKHIF, I was very keen to be a stronger voice within the agenda setting process for the series. It is vitally important to get suppliers and providers engaged with healthcare technology and innovation. #UKHIF series format is a fantastic mix of interaction and panellist debate. The agenda is built from industry contributions which leads to hugely beneficial discussion for representatives from Trusts, CCGs, local authorities and technology suppliers.”

“The #UKHIF event is one of those rare places that industry and the NHS come together with national organisations. The recent event was a stimulating discussion on the contribution the informatics industry can make to solving many of the challenges facing local health economies” Dr Mark Davies European Medical Director

“The #UKHIF in Bristol was unique. The format of expert panels with a facilitator rather than the normal progression of formal presentations and questions and answers that you get at conferences was really refreshing. It really helped to surface the key issues and facilitators were not afraid to pursue topics of interest rather than stick rigidly to the planned topics.” Julia Clarke Chief Executive

FORUM THEMES Based on the sessions that took place at 2015 #UKHIF series, the following themes of discussion have been highlighted as the key areas that need to be addressed during 2016: Creating a platform for stronger and clearer communication between CCGs and private sector with a view to implementing innovative solutions. Trust between stakeholders and participants is fundamental to the future and requires a shared language and agenda. - Between patients and their care providers in both directions - Commissioners and providers - Between providers Changing the NHS culture which is currently adverse to risk in regards to the adoption of new technologies. Having a clear understanding of what technology can offer will assist this development. Empowering patients around their own data creation and usage to determine their own outputs from these. Data security questions need to be addressed. Benefits Realisation is fundamental to future. - Mapping out the benefits and critically the realisation programme - Business case needs to be made at a higher level as there is a shared cost to enable and equip local care economies and clusters - Transition relief and support is essential to get to the prize We need to save time and improve interactions - Improve processing of data so we can lift it upto actionable insights and alerts to improve the engagement.
