Sometimes in life, frustration and depression comes your way,
but personally, do you know how to get rid of these reactions? If I may ask. They are natural, and you can't escape them because without them you wont see the future clearly. When you have a little time to spend with yourself, a leisure time when you don't need to think about your business, the best thing for you to do is to spend your time and have fun with comedy. It doesn't matter how frustrated or depressed you are, comedy make them all to disappear
Comedy fills your time and moment with joy and happiness. Personally it applies to me, the best thing I do when am frustrated and
depressed is to read funny jokes cracked by comedians and watch some comedy shows and even attend them if time permits.
So I decided to share this view of mine with the world by featuring Yaw Naija as a comedian, and the “Oluwa ni” Master (Reekado Banks) with some funny articles written to make your leisure period a wonderful one.
Have fun and stay cool with the HUSH MAGAZINE Comedy edition.
Thanks

HUSH: SINCE YOU ASSUMED THE POSITION OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR, HOWCHALLENGING HAS IT BEENANDWHATARE SOMEOFTHEDIFFICULTIESYOUHAVEFACEDSOFAR?
V.C: It has been as challenging as expected; there are daily issues that must be resolved. Running an institution this size can be compared to running a small city The population of students aloneisover50,000whilestaffisabout6,000.Issuesoffunding, repairs and maintenance of existing facilities are also issues thatdemandattention.

HUSH:ASTHEVCOFTHE UNIVERSITYOF LAGOS, HOWWOULDYOU RATE UNILAG INCOMPARISONWITHOTHER SCHOOLS?
V.C: UNILAG is a first class university by all standards, when it was set up initially, it was at par with universities in the UK. Unfortunately, due to long years of social and must lead toward that direction. Due to challenges we are currently facing with the availability of land, most of the buildings we intend to construct will be high rise facilities, the first of which will be the library which will be 10 floors, it will be situated at the student's affairs office and construction should start by year ending. We also plan on constructing high rise buildings for school of post graduate studies, Distance Learning Institute, college of education and the faculty of Law Academically, we're moving; our target is to be the best inAfrica within the next 4 to 5 years. Also, we plan on completing theAmphi-theatre. Some other plans include developing that entire area and transforming it into a student centre, this centre will have a cinema, relaxation spot, cafeteria and other facilities aimed at meeting students' needs.
economic problems faced in the country, UNILAG could no longer keep up facility wise and in other aspects. The fall in the exchange rate of the dollar and pound to the Naira affected the influx of foreign lecturers into the country This greatly affected the diversity found in the school.Asides these issues UNILAG is ranked among the best schools in the world, we are of course still working to improve and become even better
HUSH:WHERE DOYOU SEE UNIVERSITYOF LAGOS INTHE NEXT 5YEARS?
V.C:We have a strategic 25 year plan, we're currently within the first 5 years of it, and we have even gone further than what we laid out for those first 5 years. We want to push UNILAG to become a proper cosmopolitan university, all our actions
HUSH:WHILE IN SCHOOL, HOWWEREYOUABLETO BALANCEOUTYOUR SOCIAL LIFEWITHYOURACADEMIC RESPONSIBILITIES?
V.C: To be a well adjusted student, you must let the university pass through you as you pass through the university; this was our slogan and what we lived by You must acquire the university culture, through learning from others and socializing.Your ability to give both your academic and social life their required attention is what makes you as a student. Involving yourself in school activities greatly improves you not just as a student but as a person. It gives you the opportunity to learn leadership and interpersonal skills early You must be conscious of the importance of both sides and know where and when to draw the line so that one will not suffer for the other
ON A LIGHTER NOTESIR,WEWERE HOPINGYOUCOULD TELLUS HOWYOU METYOURWIFE.
Well we come from the same town, and we lived in the same environment in Abeokuta where we met. At the time, she was in secondary school and I had already graduated from secondary school. i saw her and she looked like someone I wanted to get closer to, it started slowly and it became something later on.
HUSH:WHATAREYOUR HOBBIES?
V.C: I'm a family person. I enjoy playing with my grandchildren. I also enjoy reading, watchingTV and getting acquainted with what is happening in the country and beyond.Traveling and watching movies once in a while are also activities I enjoy when I have the time.
HUSH: DOYOU HAVEA PIECEOF ADVICETOTHE STUDENT SIR?
V.C: Hmm, I would advise the students of the great institution to face what they really came for in this great institution. Never get carried away with anything contrary to your academics, balance your social life with your academics and trust me, you will continue to do exploits. Thank you.

I wish to be a Pilot Yaw
On a blessed Friday, 11th of March 2016, something really big happened at Wazobia FM, and the big thing is that the HUSH CREW visited the biggest OAP in Wazobia FM. The day started lovely with some interesting occurrences on the road to Wazobia FM. Here we have it finally to your view, enjoy
HUSH: Please tell us about 'Yaw'
YAW: My name is Steve Onu fromAnambra State,Awka to be specific. I was born in Lagos, grew up in Lagos. Basically, I've been here all my life. I studied theatre arts from Lagos State University, OJO (LASU), I also have a diploma from the same university. I'm number seven out of 10 kids and I am an entertainer That'sAll.
HUSH: So, how did you come about that name,YAW!!!
YAW: Yaw started more from when we started with 'Flat-mates' and then I had to come up with a catch phrase for the character in the play. So I said “nwa u paw paw mhen,Yaw!”And then the thing stuck. Sometime in between 2005 and 2006, I had to do a song for Nigga Raw and all he wanted me to do was say “nwa u paw paw mhen,Yaw!” So Raw started calling meYaw and everywhere I went to, people called meYaw. In 2008, when Wazobia FM started finally, the name to be used on air had to be indigenous so I had to use the nameYaw. It was just so easy for me to use because people had already started calling meYaw by then and it was easier for me to just flow with that.
HUSH: Was flat mates your firstTV appearance?
YAW: Well flat mates was not the first, I was inTwilight zone that also featured the likes of Derenle, Kofi, Biola Loba, Biola Kiki, Kayode Peters, Okechukwu Chima, Seun kentebe, Dayo Davids and so on. Back then, we used to sing this song 'shake body'-*sings* whether you like am, whether you no like am, the thing be say o you go still dey shake body That was what we did back then.
HUSH: What was it like Growing up?
YAW:Then, I used to stay in Lawson and then we moved to Ipaja. However, growing up wasn't easy a bit like I'm sure it wasn't for most people that did during my time, in particular when one is not rich. That doesn't necessarily mean I'm from a very poor background because even though we stayed in face me I slap you house, we had 5 rooms to ourselves.Alot of people stayed in one room and they used curtain to divide the room. But we had 5 rooms to ourselves so we're not poor like that. You know, things have changed now. I grew up when, in my opinion, parents had time for their kids. In particular, mothers had time for their kids. Not nowadays that parents don't have time because of the economy and the way things are now And so, wanting to go study theatre wasn't so easy for me because my parents never supported me in any way in particular, especially my mum. But hey! I said I wanted to do theatre and then she 'tried' to support (emphasis on the word 'tried').At the end, we thank God. I started doing home videos about 21 years ago. Hustling for home video jobs around Surulere, Festac and a couple of other places before I decided I wanted to go to school. I went to LASU 1995/96 session and I picked it up from there.
HUSH: Obviously has it turned well for you?
YAW:Yeah…luck had nothing to do with it though; it took a lot of hard work, persistence and God's Favour. It's God!You can't rule out the God factor
HUSH: What is comedy to you?
YAW: Comedy is a way of life as far as I'm concerned. Comedy is what gives happiness. Comedy is what elongates life. Comedy is what you see that triggers some fun of happiness. For me, those are the definitions I have for comedy
HUSH: What influenced your decision going into that line?
YAW:Ahem. I think we all have mentors in one way or another. For me, I also wanted to tow that line not because I saw them onTV and then I wanted to be like them. Believe me, in Nigeria, people that grew up in my time, most people had dreams to be one thing and then they ended up being something else. I wanted to be a pilot not into show biz. I loved to see the plane fly and I wanted to learn to drive the plane.Tats just all. But along the line, here I am,
I'm not doing that. But it wasn't because of me watching some people onTV No! Rather my mum also sensed in me that I wanted to tow the line of the arts. She have always said that thing even at the early stage when I wanted to go into arts, she refused because she told me point blank it's obvious you're going to be wayward. So it wasn't because of anybody in particular but growing up with time, you tend to like some people. But then I can't remember if I ever had it in mind that because I saw RMD onTV, I want to be like RMD. I can't remember if I ever thought like that growing up.
HUSH: So, it was just something that came naturally…
YAW: Yes it came naturally all because I felt like, ok, I've got something in me that makes me say I can be like a comic actor or I can do comedy or something. It just came natural or rather; I'd end up an entertainer. I think to a large extent, I had the belief that I was going to end up an entertainer
HUSH: It's quite obvious that you're a very industrious person. You are an actor, producer, director, OAP. What rewards have you gotten from all these?
YAW: When It comes to rewards, errm financially, just there.Awards now, too numerous to count. I think I've won over 50.Then, I was also opportune to lift the Olympic touch in 2012, the last Olympics.Yeah, they chose 7000 people in the whole world to lift the touch and they chose 10 people from the whole of WestAfrica. So, I was one of the 10 that was chosen to lift the Olympic touch. And then, the former president, President Goodluck Jonathan wanted 100influencial youths and then I was also one of them. So, the list is just on. I don't really count all those really, but I'm grateful for them though. I am not so moved by the awards n all. Rather, I'm moved by wanting to touch lives and make Nigeria better
HUSH: Basically, has it been satisfying so far?
YAW:Yes, to a large extent, but it can never be enough.
HUSH:There are a lots of students that right now, they either want to go into comedy, music, acting etc. and then, school comes and the struggle to get a degree also come in to play. For those kind of people, what's your advice to them?
YAW: For them, “I love to always tell people and always say to them that talent is Important but education is paramount”. It is important that you're educated and discover and be convinced that you have that talent for it. If you don't have the talent, my dear, why go into it? Because you'll just be like a flash in the pan in the industry You'll definitely not last. So the best thing for you is to do what you're supposed to do, do the right thing. And then, after school or definitely while still in school like you guys are doing now, you're doing this.Tomorrow now, you're there on CNN, somebody will just say she's so lucky. I tell people, luck got nothing to do with it. If you don't do it before, forget it. It's not entirely luck so you must also work. Work very hard. They should keep it up, just keep it up and then, they should find where their strength is. I tell people it is not everyone that would make headlines but we'll definitely eat from the same job. It's not a must that everybody must be on the front page of every newspaper. But definitely, you'll eat from it, everyone should be satisfied. Basically, Education is paramount, talent is important. Yeah!
HUSH:There's this trivial question; would you rather go a week without bathing and get to change your clothes or bath for week and wear the same clothes?
YAW: So far I can do wash and wear, I'm okay with it. Okay, even if you don't bath, make sure the top and bottom are well taken care of. I think I'd rather change clothes. Perfume dey, roll on self dey, we go use all of them join body

HUSH: Good evening Reekado Banks, How are you doing? I'm not fine (just kidding though).
HUSH: We would like to meet Reekado, who is REEKADO?
My name is Ayo Solomon, actually I was born on December 6th, 1993. The last child of the family of six children, hmmm, graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), studied History and Strategic Studies, that's all for now.
HUSH: How did you come by the name Reekado Banks when your real name is Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon? Hmm... “Reekado” has to do with my favourite Spanish word, which means RULER, so I decided to adopt the name. I took the spelling to suit me, and the “BANKS” which stands the fact that I am rich in musical content.
HUSH: Okay, so when did you exactly begin your music career?
Hmm ... I will say 2008 when I was like a shortcut from boredom, when I just finished my WAEC, I was about to write my NECO and it was like three months in between. I was not really doing anything in the house 'cause I was the last child, the only one in the house, my other siblings were away (some married and some in school). So to while away time, I found myself writing rap music and songs.
HUSH: Oh rap music, but you don't rap presently, do you? (Smiles)
HUSH: What exactly is the inspiration behind your style of music?
Basically, I write my music to suit people, because I don't have a particular music style, I just call my music “ Sweet and Sellable”, I am not singing R&B alone, neither hip-hop 'cause people have different opinions towards life, so as someone that wants to take over the world, you have to think for everybody. So I try as much as possible to suit people.
HUSH: We heard that you have siblings in the music Industry, how true is it?
My first sister, the second child does gospel music.
HUSH: And do you plan collaborating with her? Definitely.
Standard Truth About
HUSH: Okay, you said you graduated from Unilag, how was your social life?
Zero, I never had social life until I became Reekado Banks.
HUSH: So when were you officially signed into Mavins Records?
December 2013, but i was unveiled on the 1st of February 2014.
HUSH: What advice do you have for the up and coming artistes 'cause you finished from UNILAG with good grade and you are still doing well in the music industry. So what advice do you have for those that are still in school? I don't really know, do whatever works; i wouldn't say what works for me will work for you. I just feel you should keep doing music, keep facing your studies, but most especially, keep praying and God will put you through in whatever you should do.
HUSH: So you are an advocate of the 'finish your studies' policy...lol
If you want to finish it, finish it (laugh)
HUSH: If there is a thing you want to change in Nigeria music industry, what would it be?
To be collecting Hundred Million Naira per show, sharp sharp...laugh... we should not have to start from all the Hundred Thousand Naira. Nigeria music industry is nice, so I don't have much to change.
HUSH: If you are granted the opportunity to see God, what three things will you ask him to give you?
Free ticket to heaven and that covers the remaining two.
HUSH: Last one for “REEKADDICTS” 'cause we have a lot of them in UNILAG.
Let's start from the gate, “EMERALD” to.....ehm...don't tell me... “AMINA” to “KOFO” to “BIOBAKU” to “HONOURS” to “JAJA” to “MOREMI” to “MARIERE” to “(turns back)”ENIJOKU” to “MTH” to “...
HUSH: You did not mention the rugged but now renovated hostel (Shouts) “SHODEINDE” (laugh), I love you all.

Behind my smile, is the pain you can't see. Eccedentesiast
e ry
Beyond my life is the burden you can't think. In this smile shell are experiences I've had which you can't believe.
This word calledACTING, I'm so good at. Do not slander me, I've gone through something calledA LOT
No one can see the tears behind this mask, For in my secret life I still bask.
I act everyday of my life like it's blissful, But the inner me is painful. I feel empty deep inside, Many friends, I still have because I wear a big fake smile.
Little do they know, I'm dying But I want no one to know I'm lying. You don't know my secrets, only what I say, you believe.
My constant cheek raising Behind it, is a total lie.
I've built in Me, prison of fears and tears.
I can't really assure myself If I'm right.
The fear of losing friends when I put off my mask kills
me at night. With all these, I still carry my fake smile that looks bright. I barely make it through the day even after saying I'M OKAY
Cause if I let out my pain, I'm afraid, with me you won't stay
Not even my close friends hears my screaming while I'm silent. How close I am to drowning, no one knows. All I do is, plaster on a fake smile, to cover my injured soul.
Those days when I played, I called it joy
But now ,I play games, I call itACTING. It's hard to wipe away, my invisible tears. I cry about myself, I'm not who I used to be.
I look happy, but I'm sad I look so good, but I'm bad I look unbroken, but I am I look like I smile, but I cry I look like I'm true, but I lie
Another part of my life begins, when I'm in my closet.
I begin to reminisce, how I ended up acting the other me. I get upset.
I begin to pour out the tears I swallowed in their presence.
Pretence, they say, is the hardest thing to do. But, I live everyday doing it. My beautiful ugliness is all they see. My killing loneliness, they can't even feel.
I want to go back to those days, when I smiled effortlessly I want to go back to those days, when it took me nothing to create a real smile. I want to go back to those days, when I practised the real life.
I want to go back to those days, when my words spoke my real life.
I want to go back to those days, when explaining why I feel sad gave me joy than faking a smile.
I want to drop my fake smile as series of tears roll down. I'm screaming, I can't do this anymore, I'm yelling, I want the old me, even more!!!
