Trending NOW We had the chance to sit down with three of our long-time interior designers, along with the newest to make a mark here, celebrity designer Ross Cassidy, to talk story about the latest in design trends. We share their thoughts and tips here. WHAT, IN YOUR OPINION, IS TRENDING MOST IN INTERIOR DESIGN IN HAWAI'I AND HUALALAI RESORT SPECIFICALLY?

Eric Henderson, Henderson Design Group, Kohala Coast and Honolulu, HI: Our clients continue to push for more modern, clean, simple and tranquil design. They want to live in casual elegance.

Gina Willman, Willman Interiors, Kamuela, HI: Outdoor kitchens and entertainment areas. Our climate allows families to entertain and cook outside all year long. Clients are wanting outdoor kitchens with multi-fuel grills (wood and gas), smokers, pizza ovens and side burners. We've had two 'foodie' clients install a Grillworks artisanal grill with a culinary pedigree recognized the world over. Comfortable outdoor lounging and entertaining areas. We’ve had requests for pop-up or wall-mounted TVs on the lānai.

Shirley Wagner, Fine Design Interiors Inc., Kamuela, HI: We are seeing a desire for handcrafted and sustainable furnishings created by local artisans. Clients want comfortable and sophisticated spaces with updated, clean-line furnishings. Ross Cassidy, Ross Cassidy, Inc., Los Angeles, CA: The movement away from an old fashioned tropical multi-colored “Hawaiian shirt” aesthetic to a more refined, sophisticated and muted style.
