750 IRISH RACING CALENDAR, THURSDAY, 13th JULY, 2023
FOREIGN RACE PROGRAMMES
U.K. - All entries for Irish trained horses in U.K. should be made to Horse Racing Ireland (but entries may also be made direct to Racing Calendar Office of Weatherbys subject to the payment of a handling charge in accordance with the provisions of Order 111 (iii) (b)). All subsequent transactions (i.e. declarations of forfeit, confirmations of entries, declarations to run etc) must be made to the Racing Calendar Office, Weatherbys:Telephone: 0044 1933 440011
Fax: 0044 1933 276 151
STANDARD CONDITIONS
The Racing Calendar Office of Weatherbys Thoroughbred Ltd. receives entries submitted for acceptance as agents for the Racecourse Authority and only upon the terms of the Standard Conditions. Acceptance of entries is subject to the power to refuse to allow entries to be accepted conferred by the Orders and Rules of Racing on the British Horseracing Authority Ltd. Entries are accepted by the Racing Calendar Office, acting as aforesaid, causing the name of the horse in question to be published as being entered for the race in question either in The Racing Calendar, when the race closes more than six days before running, or, for other races, on the British Horseracing Authority Racing Administration Internet site (www.racingadmin.co.uk) and ordinarily in the Sporting Press.
For further details on Standard Conditions, reference should be made to "Standard Conditions" on the Racing Bulletin area of the Racing Administration Internet site (www.racingadmin.co.uk) for the full details.
FRANCE - Owners and trainers of horses trained outside of France are reminded that, to enter any horse in a French race for the first time, they must register their horses in training through their access online at least 8 days before the closing time of entry, with the correct name of the horse, its suffix, sex, year of foaling and pedigree (sire, dam and sire of dam).
This declaration is not considered as an entry. Trainers are to make their entries and other declarations directly online. They must also supply a complete race record of all the performances of the horse(s) entered on the Internet, by fax (33 1 47 61 93 37) or email (fgperf@france-galop.com). The entry will not be valid if these performances are not received by the international department at Racing Operations by the time of the first forfeit, or on the eve of the declaration to run (if entries were made more than a month before the race). When declaring a horse to run, it is the responsibility of the trainer to check the weight carried.
Italy - Owners and trainers of horses trained outside Italy are informed that, the first time they enter any horse to run in Italy, they must include with the entry the correct name, sex, year of foaling, pedigree (sire, dam and sire of dam) and the name of the country where the horse was foaled.
Owners and Trainers are reminded that the foreign race conditions published below are based upon information supplied by the relevant authority. Horse Racing Ireland cannot be held responsible for their accuracy.

He further stated that this filly may want a longer trip in future.
176C(i) Guinness Apprentice H'cap (Division One) At the request of the Raceday Stewards, A.C. Persse, rider of Purring Along, trained by S.M. Duffy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount had no luck in running in the straight.

R. Whearty, rider of Manhattan Dandy, trained by Thomas Coyle, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount took a keen hold in the early stages.
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Thomas Coyle, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Manhattan Dandy, placed first, as compared with his most recent run. The
trainer reported that he felt the 30 day break between runs may have accounted for the improved performance today. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted the contents of the report.
J.A. Powell, rider of Rock Dandy, trained by P.J.F. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after the start involving Curzon Queen, ridden by O. McSweeney, Manhattan Dandy, ridden by R. Whearty and Pollanassa, ridden by C. Stone-Walsh where it appeared Curzon Queen and Pollanassa became tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. O. Stone-Walsh stated that he was slowly away, he kicked up into a gap but received pressure from his outside. R. Whearty stated that he jumped quickly from the gates, his mount locked-on and was very keen, he heard a shout and tried to keep straight but was unable to do so. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found R. Whearty was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and, having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for one race day.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed D. McMonagle, rider of Picture Of A City (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Regulation which was due to him miscounting the number of times he used his whip. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Reg.10.3 (g) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and, having taken his record into account, they cautioned him on this occasion.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Picture Of A City (GB), ridden by D. McMonagle and Eastern Legend, ridden by R.P. Cleary where it appeared Picture Of A City (GB) ran short of room on the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. McMonagle stated that they had gone at a steady pace but going into the turn he felt Eastern Legend had run off the bend and a gap appeared. He kicked into the gap but had to take back as the gap closed. R.P. Cleary stated that he made the running. He thought his mount would run off the rail but felt there was insufficient room on his inner so aggressively dragged the horse around the bend. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental and they therefore took no further action.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Mr King, ridden by G.F. Carroll and Eastern Legend, ridden by R.P. Cleary where it appeared Mr King became tight for room on the inner. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.P. Cleary stated that he made the running, travelled into the straight and Mr King had more gears than his horse but inside the 150 yard post he rolled in and switched his horse out. G.F. Carroll stated that they went slow early on and it turned into a sprint finish, Mr. Cleary gave a shout at which point he switched his whip into his right
hand. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that any interference which occurred was accidental and they took no further action

McMonagle, placed second and Glan, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed first, where it appeared Ash Tree Meadow ran short of room between horses in the closing stages. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B.M. Coen stated that he was slowly away. His horse was having its first flat run and was caught for pace. He was going nowhere until Glan flashed down his outer and his mount was a little tight on the line. D. McMonagle stated that his mount had run around and had a good look but felt his mount stayed straight on the inner. D.P. McDonogh stated that his mount got going late, stayed on well and shifted a little at which point he pulled his left rein after the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Glan had caused interference to Ash Tree Meadow (FR), he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge's placings. They were, however, of the opinion that D.P. McDonogh was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and, having considered his record in this regard, they suspended him for one race day.
