HRA Newsletter: Winter 2024

Page 1

We are kicking off 2024 with our mission in mind: “To provide strategic solutions and opportunities that drive growth, boost revenue, and maximize profit for retail store owners.”

2023 was a great year for HRA Members and our organization, but it was not without hurdles and challenges, which we overcame together. We experienced a move back toward normalcy with inventory and product placement issues we faced during COVID-19.

We anticipate 2024 being a year filled with amazing opportunities as we stay ahead of the curve on trends by bringing you new and improved programs from our existing vendor partners as well as new innovators in the industry. This focus will separate our Members from non-HRA-Member stores.

As 2024 began we were notified of national price increases from several vendor partners such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and many others. Thankfully, the major price increases have already occurred and we have been able to get ahead of it together. Anticipating these changes we did our best to negotiate fair and competitive contracts and agreements on your behalf with all vendor partners, ensuring your continued success and ability to charge competitive retail prices to your customers while holding strong on profit margins.

Our core values and strong member base continue to build our collective success. We are currently 3,500+ Members strong, in five states, and recognized as one of the top Member-Chain Organizations in the Southeast. Our commitment to provide best-in-class service has allowed us to improve and grow our presence to 24 field representatives and managers, enhancing our in-store presence and customer service levels.

New partnerships with vendors such as Performance Foodservice are specifically goal oriented to help our Members enter foodservice and capture untapped potential to make up for dwindling profits in the tobacco and cigarette categories. We are strategically planning a focus on category management in confectionery snacks, salty snacks, Hispanic grocery, and many more which will drive traffic to Center Store Grocery, driving additional revenue and profit.

Join us May 9th for our 8th Annual Charity Golf Tournament supporting CURE Childhood Cancer. With member and vendor support we raised awareness and more than $68,000 in 2023, don’t miss out this year as we fight together to cure childhood cancer!

“The Power of Collective” could not be more true as we take on 2024 together! Stay tuned for more exciting news on 2024 programs, new vendors, industry leading trends, events, and much more!

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Making Your Business More Convenient!
8 8th Annual CHARITY View More Online! www.hraga.com/events Since we started, HRA has raised over $200,000 in support of Cure Foundation!

Established in 1975, CURE Childhood Cancer is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research while supporting patients and their families.

When CURE was founded, survival rates for children with cancer were just 20%. Thanks to continued research, survival rates have improved to over 80% today. Still, 1 in 5 do not survive. And even when effective, current treatments are harsh and often leave survivors with life long physical, emotional, and cognitive scars.

Research is the key to unlocking breakthroughs that will save the lives of children with cancer. In the past 15 years, CURE has invested $38 million in the most promising research aimed at solving childhood cancers. Our highest priority is precision medicine, treatment targeted at tumor driving genes, which is already yielding significant results for children with recurrent and hard to treat cancers.

At CURE, we are also focused on supporting families devastated by a childhood cancer diagnosis through programs designed to meet a family’s emotional, practical, and financial needs. CURE serves meals in the hospital, provides emergency financial support to ease burdens, and offers professional counseling to patients and family members. We also offer bereavement support for families who must deal with unimaginable loss. These are only a few of the ways we serve childhood cancer patients and their families. CURE’s support encompasses dozens of services designed to lighten the load of the families and make sure they know they aren’t alone.

Partnerships are essential in our emerging digital age. Members with good partnerships can grab precious market share from other established competitors and grow and create opportunities for their businesses. BTC’s & HRA’s s partnership is designed to benefit both parties. When we all work together, the whole truly is greater than the sum of the parts. The BTC complete Store Program is reinforced by continuous improvement and a decrease in prices to support HRA’s Members. Quarterly reviews of the members’ purchases allow them to increase their bottom line as their store increases its purchases. The result is strengthened experience for our customers and a boost to business for the member partners. Our goal is to create parity for all members and give everyone the opportunity to have the best pricing in the market today.

If an HRA Member is buying exclusively from BTC, then BTC has the ability to place this customer at any Level. If an HRA member is not buying exclusively from BTC, then BTC can change the level at any time. If an HRA member opens a new store or buys a new store BTC could place them on the level that we see fit in accordance with the store’s projected volume. It is the members responsibility to notify BTC that they are now a new HRA member, BTC does monitor new members, unless notified, but cannot be responsible for errors.
