Lady Bulldogs drop two in search of Lands' 400th win

Longtime Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Derek Lands' next win will be his 400th career victory. Once again this week, whispers will be heard throughout the stadium in anticipation of Derek Lands' 400th career victory. The Howe girls are trying to notch that milestone victory without their leading scorer and perhaps the region's finest defender in Jenna Honore as she suffered a hand injury recently. The team is hoping she'll be able to return Tuesday night as district play begins at home against Whitewright. The Lady Bulldogs played a game in Campbell, Texas on Friday night as a district tune-up, but the girls fell short in an overtime loss, 5343. The game was tied at 41 each at the end of regulation, but the Lady Bulldogs could not catch a break and were outscored 12-2 in the extra period.

Howe, without Honore, had trouble finding their rhythm and trailed 1412 and 24-23 at the half. But Howe came roaring out of the gate in the third with a 14-7 run to take the lead and it looked as if Lands would be returning home with the milestone, but Campbell decided differently as they scored 22 of the game's final 30 points for the win. The Lady Bulldogs had a chance to seal it late in the game with a possession stall, but a Howe player took a jumper from the free-throw lane that rolled out and gave Campbell another shot in which they capitalized on. Howe was led by Ally Harvey with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Sierra Copeland was right behind her with 14 points. Other scorers were page 6
