Band students make props and receive props for using creativity

For this year's band performances, Director Angie Liss had planned to order digitally printed backdrops with pictures of a school, classroom, and playground. These backdrops are used during marching competition which has become a big part of the presentations over the past several years. However, when Liss called to confirm the order, she was told that the one-week turnaround she was promised would actually take a month to six weeks to complete.

This would have resulted in a spending of over $1,000 that might only be used a few times. Not wanting to justify the expense, Liss remembered that the backside of last year's "Stained Glass" props were solid black vinyl.

"I said something to the whole band about doing "kids drawings" on the back of the vinyls," said Liss. "That's when Kaden (Bateman) and Bethany (Van page 9 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
