Howe Community Library Summer Hours Howe Community Library will begin summer hours on Tuesday, May 29, after the holiday weekend. We will be open every Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and on
Saturdays from 9 until 3. We have LOTS of new books and DVDs, AND our renovation is ALMOST finished! Come on by and see us!
Summer reading program at Howe Community Library Howe Community Library will kick off the Summer Reading Program on June 5 with a petting zoo from 10am to 11:30. Rancho Condarco will bring bunnies, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and pigs for children of all ages to pet. Audra Mitchell will bring her Chill Out trailer to provide free shaved ice to help beat the heat. Everyone is welcome to register inside the library for our summer reading program. The theme this year is LIBRARIES ROCK! and we plan to do just that all during the month of June. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 11am, Miss Joyce will lead children going into Kindergarten through going into 4th grade in exploring music and activities. On those same days, from 2 to 3 in the afternoon, students going into 5th grade and up can join us for crafting and fun times. These groups will meet every Tuesday and Thursday through June beginning June 5 and going through June 30. Wee Readers is a lively group of infants through Pre-K children who meet on Fridays from 10 to 11. This group will continue through the months of June and July and will
have the opportunity to have story time and play games with Miss Joyce. Concurrent with these activities will be the Summer Reading Challenge. When you register, pick up a Reading Log and fill out a Punch Card. Read at home, at the library, or wherever you are, and record that time in minutes. For every 60 minutes you read, your card will be punched, and you will receive a free book, a gift card from Sonic or Paleo's, a coupon for the Dallas Zoo or a coupon for the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History. Also, for every hour you read, your name will be put into a drawing for our Grand Prize of a $25 gift card to Books a Million. On July 27, we will draw one winner from each of three age categories for children. Adults can register for our Summer Reading Program, too. When you register, fill out a punch card, and pick up a Reading Challenge Card. Every time you complete two of the activities, your name will be put into a drawing for a $25 gift card to Books-AMillion. Watch the Enterprise and the sign outside the library for fun reading activities happening at the library during the month of July.
