Faith by Debbie Wallis your human nature has a tendency to rehearse what happen. That’s the point when you have to make a choice to keep a record of that wrong so you can go back over it when you want to or you can forgive them just has Christ forgave you. It’s not enough to keep the bad thinking out; you’ve got to put some good thinking in.
“Love…keeps no records of wrongs,” 1 Corinthians 13:4-5, but people have a tendency to keep a running tally for life. Bitter thoughts today will show up tomorrow, the next day, the next and sometimes 50 years later. If you are taking notes of today’s hurts then you are keeping a record for tomorrow’s bitterness. At the end of the day get rid of disappointments, insults and hurts. Holding on to ager leads to abuse, lust to adultery, and bigotry to hate and greed to theft. Sin has a seed that was nourished by time and thoughts. That’s why Paul writes in 2 Cor. 10:5 that we are to capture every thought and make it line up to the Word of God. Making sure it is agreeing with Christ…that we are obedient to Christ in our thinking. When you feel selfish, angry, or prideful you have to attack your thoughts like it’s a battle ground…”Capture” every thought, make it “line up” and “obey” the word of God. “Be careful what you think because your thoughts run your life,” Proverbs 4:23. When you are treated wrong by someone
“Bless those who persecute you, bless and not curse,” Romans 12:14. AND, think good about them! “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things,” Philippians 4:8. The truth is we will all have someone that does something wrong around us, to us or to someone else. Those bad thoughts about them will come just for the simple fact we all know when wrong is done. What Christ is telling us is to let it go before their wrong is affecting you because then you will be doing wrong, too. I am a list person. I make to do list for me, my kids, my husband, the repair guy, and on and on. Today I’m listing the mercies Christ has done for me. “Jesus, if You can forgive me for hurting You, then I can forgive _____ for hurting me. You didn’t deserve to die for my sins but You did. I can, and will, forgive others. That simple confession of the heart is powerful, now live it daily through obedience.
