2019-Present: Deputy Superintendent

Prior to HSSD: Superintendent Smith served in a variety of executive leadership positions at the Green Bay Area Public School District.

Coaching Experience: College baseball, high school baseball and football, and volunteer coached for the Howard-Suamico Youth Sports Association.

It has been my family’s home for nearly 20 years, my kids love the opportunities the district provides, and we have found such joy being part of this community,” said Superintendent Smith. “This opportunity is a dream come true and it is my privilege to step into the space as leader of this incredible organization, in partnership with our students, families, staff, and community.

Listening (January-June 2024)

One-on-one Superintendent meetings with each Board of Education member. Board and Leadership Team retreats.

Superintendent and Board of Education liaison meetings with key stakeholder groups. One-on-one Superintendent meetings with each principal and district department or division leader.

Principal-led school tours.

Superintendent and one Board of Education liaison.

Purpose: School strengths and challenges.

Learning (July-August 2024)

After listening to multiple stakeholder groups, provide thematic updates to the Board of Education as allowable.

Propose a process to construct a Strategic Plan to reset and recommit to the needs of HSSD students, staff, and families.

Create an intentional learning focus with the Board of Education.

Leading (September-November 15, 2024)

Activate a strategic planning process, including community engagement. Initiate the strategic plan and align monitoring systems.

Communicate updates to both the Board of Education and HSSD Learning Community. Initiate advisory committees as necessary.
