The partnership will include collaboration on global projects to protect cultural heritage, promote sustainable tourism, and foster community resilience.
Accor, a global leader in hospitality, has entered into an industry-pioneering three-year partnership with World Monuments Fund (WMF) to protect cultural heritage and strengthen local communities.
Through this partnership, Accor will work with WMF to share their expertise, resources, and global presence on projects that enhance destinations, connect with communities, and support longterm resilience.
The travel and tourism industry plays a critical role in the global economy, accounting for up to 10% of global GDP — and as much as 70% in certain countries — while supporting 10% of global employment.
At the same time, the consequences of climate change and the impact of over-tourism can also affect some cultural and historical sites and treasures that make up the richness of the territories and local communities.
Both Accor and WMF are dedicated to developing and promoting innovative
travel solutions that address challenges and contribute to sustainable progress, rather than exacerbating existing issues.
In partnering with WMF, Accor aims to make its full contribution to the preservation of local heritage and to the environmental and social development of these destinations.
Over the next three years, Accor and WMF will harness their complementary expertise, resources, and global reach to deliver projects that enhance destinations, offer meaningful connections with communities, and build long-term resilience.
WMF’s preservation projects – included in their signature program the World Monuments Watch, often include training local communities and working with authorities to develop sustainable tourism that lessens the harmful effects of mass tourism.
As part of this partnership, Accor will actively participate in redefining these tourism schemes, ensuring that sites are preserved and continue to attract visitors, sustaining the local economy and developing skills of the local community, without compromising cultural heritage.
Additionally, Accor and WMF aim to distribute tourism flows, showcasing monuments and heritage places beyond traditional tourist hotspots, and helping new destinations emerge through thoughtful, sustainable development.
Accor and WMF’s collaboration will continue to unfold over the next three years, with the first initiatives by the beginning of 2025 as well as Earth Day on April 22, 2025.
Together, these two leading organizations are setting new standards in sustainable tourism, ensuring that the world’s most treasured places will be preserved for generations to come.
Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & CEO
Accor said, “Through this meaningful partnership, Accor is deepening its commitment to safeguarding the cultural heritage while preserving the world’s most cherished destinations.
This collaboration also aims to foster new initiatives for a sustainable and responsible development of the travel sector.
We continue our purpose to pioneer the art of responsible hospitality, connecting cultures with passion and generosity.”
Bénédicte de Montlaur, CEO of the World Monuments Fund said, “At WMF, we believe that sustainable tourism is crucial for the protection of cultural heritage.
When tourism is managed responsibly, it not only preserves sites but also strengthens local communities by fostering socioeconomic growth.
One of our key priorities is to ensure that tourism helps communities build the capacity to manage their sites effectively, providing long-term benefits that protect heritage while promoting sustainable development.
This collaboration with Accor enables us to further our mission of preserving the world’s cultural treasures, while also advancing sustainable tourism.
With Accor’s support, we will continue to protect heritage sites and empower local communities to thrive.”

As we travel throughout Asia, and around the world, we’re typically connecting with leaders in the hospitality industry -whether they’re leading hotels and resorts, top nightclubs and restaurants, or phenomenal golf courses and wellness facilities. As much as we enjoy these properties, the experiences are enhanced by the directors, managers and staff that we encounter.
In the not-so-distant past, we have been fortunate to personally experience and feature high-end resort properties such as Singapore's Marina Bay Sands, Vietnam’s Grand Ho Tram, and many others reaching around the world. In an upcoming issue, we will feature our personal experiences at the Atlantis Bahamas, a leading resort property in the Caribbean -- stay tuned.
In this issue, we’re quite pleased to feature Enterprise Mobility, a global leader in vehicle rental … cars, trucks, etc. I’ve often rented cars through Enterprise (including their National and Alamo brands) for nearly 40 years. They’ve regularly been a key component of a successful business trip or an enjoyable holiday -- as vital as the hotel and restaurant venues utilized along the way. I’d even be bold enough to say that adding the proper car rental experience is the glue that holds the trip together.
Having known Enterprise for decades, learning about their expansion into Thailand piqued my interest in featuring them here in Hotelier Indonesia Magazine. Though not in Indonesia (yet), they are operational in many of the Asian markets our publication reaches.
We wish Enterprise Mobility success in their very recent entry into Thailand and their continued success throughout Asia and worldwide.

David MOREAU, Hotel Manager
A key component for global travelers - both leisure and business - includes the mode of transportation. For many it may simply be local taxis, trains or rideshare when they’re simply in town for a meeting or two.
For the more adventurous and those who need greater mobility, they may want to rent a car for more flexibility, reliability and privacy.
Enterprise is recognized as the largest car rental company in the west, and is making significant strides in AsiaPac. We have been fortunate to catch-up with several directors and managers at Enterprise Mobility in Asia-Pacific.
[HI] Could you give us a brief background on how Enterprise got their start, and the years leading up to 2024?
[EM] Jack Taylor founded Executive Leasing Company in St. Louis in 1957. Five years later, Jack’s customers relayed a need to rent cars while theirs were being repaired. In response, Executive Leasing Co. added a rental car business division along with a Car Sales division. In 1969, they expanded the company beyond St. Louis, and Jack renamed his growing operation "Enterprise" as a salute to the World War II aircraft carrier on which he served, the USS Enterprise.
Jack’s son, Andy Taylor, took on the role of president in 1980. By 1982, the business had rapidly expanded to more than 75 locations across 10 states from Florida to California. While overseeing a period of exponential growth, both geographical and by launching new lines of business, Andy assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer in 1991. Andy was instrumental in implementing Enterprise’s 2007 Vanguard acquisition, which included the National Car Rental and Alamo brands and an expanded global presence.
CEO of Enterprise South Korea Yong Jun Youn and Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President of Global Franchising – Asia Pacific, Enterprise Mobility
In 2013, Pam Nicholson became CEO. The business continued its tremendous growth trajectory, launching a global franchising model that brought the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands to more than 90 countries and territories across the world.
On January 1, 2020, Chrissy Taylor, daughter of Andy, officially took the reins as the fourth CEO of the business. After weathering the unprecedented business climate brought on by the global COVID-19 pandemic, Chrissy has shepherded Enterprise to record-breaking global revenue and recently oversaw the evolution of the Enterprise corporate brand from Enterprise Holdings to Enterprise Mobility.
Enterprise Mobility – inclusive of its subsidiaries and franchisees, and affiliate, Enterprise Fleet Management – now manages a diverse fleet of 2.3 million vehicles through an integrated network of nearly 9,500 fully staffed neighborhood and airport rental locations in more than 90 countries and territories.
[HI] Enterprise has recently changed their name to Enterprise Mobility. What does the name change signify?
[EM] We were founded as a car leasing business and are best known today as the world’s largest car rental provider. Yet, the business has evolved immensely in terms of geography, offerings and customer segments we serve.
Today, we have a diverse portfolio of mobility offerings including car rental, fleet management, flexible vehicle hire, carsharing, vanpooling, car sales, truck rental, vehicle subscriptions, luxury rentals, technology solutions and more.
The change to Enterprise Mobility better reflects the business’ evolution from a fleet of seven cars, more than six decades ago, to a global network of diverse mobility solutions serving consumers, businesses, and governments.
[HI] As of 2024, where can Enterprise be found in Asia-Pacific?
[EM] Through its franchise partners, Enterprise Mobility has seen significant international growth over the past 12 years, which includes a presence in 11 countries and territories in the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, Guam, Japan, Palau, the Philippines, New Zealand, Saipan, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam along with nationwide car rental coverage in China, offered through our Chinese partner, eHi.
[HI] Enterprise has been extremely successful in North America. What has been the journey into the international market?
[EM] In 1993, Enterprise opened its first international location in Windsor, Canada. A year later, the first European branch opened in Reading, England. For the next two decades, European expansion continued with corporate-owned locations beginning in Germany (1997), Ireland (1997), France (2012) and Spain (2012).
In 2013, CEO Pam Nicholson presided over a period of tremendous growth for Enterprise, implementing a global franchising model that brought the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands to more than 90 countries and territories across the world.
[HI] The world’s most populous continent is Asia. When and how did Enterprise enter Asia?
[EM] Enterprise first entered the Asia Pacific region in Australia in February 2016. We went there first because of its importance as a business rental market.
We established our managerial beachhead in Singapore, to match our Franchise support offices in Miami and London.
The APAC region is the third leg of our global expansion strategy.
“We see tremendous opportunities for growth in the APAC region. There is more travel happening in APAC than any other region of the world, and 90% of the travel in the region doesn’t leave the region.” – Marco Beltgens
[HI] Are there unique challenges for Enterprise in Asia?
[EM] “The mobility space is different in Asia than it is in our traditional markets. Car rental is a more expansive term in APAC. In the West, car rental typically means short-term daily rental for the most part. In Asia, car rental can mean one day to three years, with or without a driver.” – Pete Smith
“One of the unique challenges is the diversity between the markets in APAC is much greater than anywhere else in the world with regard to the business needs of the customer. It may look like traditional car rental like it does in the U.S. or Europe, or it can look much different. The length of rental and modes of transportation vary more in APAC than anywhere else in the world.” – Marco Beltgens
A Japanese manufacturer, for example, may have operations in Vietnam. They may have to send an executive on a multiyear assignment there, which means they will need a car and driver for the duration of their stay.
“We may have a customer who needs a car for four years and wants the same driver and same car all four years. At the same time, we might have a customer in another market who needs a car for one hour and doesn’t need a driver. These are the extremes of the market here. The diversity of business needs varies greatly.” – Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President of Global Franchising – Asia Pacific, Enterprise Mobility
“This creates new challenges and opportunities for us in terms of how we package these services. How do we market them? How do we reach customers? This can change market by market.” – Pete Smith, Vice President of Global Franchising, Enterprise Mobility
[HI] Tell us a little about the Marco Beltgen’s background and what led them to Enterprise Mobility?
[EM] Like many leaders at Enterprise Mobility, Marco Beltgens started his career in Enterprise Mobility’s world-renowned Management Trainee program in Washington, D.C., in 1999. This program offers valuable, hands-on experience across customer service, sales, marketing, finance and operations. He worked his way up the ranks in Washington D. C., before earning a promotion to Group Rental manager and relocating to Hartford, Connecticut, in 2014.
The following year, Marco moved to London to take on a new role as Regional Rental Director - Europe, Middle East, & Africa Franchise Operations. In 2019, Maro was promoted to his current role, AVP of Asia Pacific Franchise Operations.
He currently leads Enterprise Mobility’s APAC operations out of the Enterprise Mobility Global Franchise office in Singapore.
[HI] For car rental, is Asia a competitive market? Are there multi-national car rental companies competing with Enterprise in Asia-Pacific?
[EM] “All the major global brands are there, but independent brands are more important in Asia than in any other market because they understand the space. This is why we seek proven partners like Thai Rent a Car to bring our brands to market. Thai Rent a Car has a well-established presence in Thailand as the country’s first-ever rental car company and has been a top player in the car rental industry in Thailand for more than 45 years.” – Pete Smith, Vice President of Global Franchising, Enterprise Mobility
Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President of Global Franchising – Asia Pacific, Enterprise Mobility
“We want to serve Asia’s global mobility needs, so we think about how each of our different customers have different needs. We want to meet the region’s global mobility needs, whether it’s a tourist, a business traveler or anyone in between. – Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President of Global Franchising – Asia Pacific, Enterprise Mobility
[HI] Enterprise has recently entered the Thai market. As a significant market for tourism, Thailand must be a key focus for Enterprise?
[EM] Thailand is one of the premier tourism destinations in the world and has been a key target for our growth plan in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Thailand is arguably the most important in-bound leisure market for our industry in Asia.” - Pete Smith, Vice President of Global Franchising, Enterprise Mobility
Branches featuring the Enterprise, National and Alamo brands opened in Thailand in August at 10 locations throughout the country, including branch-es at every major international airport. In addition to the branches currently in operation, there are plans to open additional locations in Thailand’s top tourist destinations in the coming year.
[HI] Are there other countries of focus for Enterprise in SE Asia in 20242025?
[EM] While we can’t give any specifics as to what markets we may or may not enter, we are always looking for opportunities to grow our brand presence globally and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
“We are in preliminary conversations in three additional markets today, and we are interested in talking to quality prospective partners in Indonesia and any market in Asia Pacific where we can provide mobility services that customers want.” – Pete Smith
[HI] What is the mix of EV and standard gas vehicles across the company? And will there be a similar focus on EV for Asia?
[EM] We have EVs available for customers who want them, and we adjust our fleet accordingly to meet customer demand.
[HI] If an American, or a tourist familiar with car rental policies in North America, rents a car from Enterprise in Thailand, what differences might there be? For instance:
◦ A valid driver’s license acceptable in Thailand which may be from a neighboring country, or an international driver’s license?
◦ A local chauffeur provided by Enterprise?
L to R: Komsit Sangmanee, COO, Thai Rent a Car; Theerakup Thammaneewong, Executive Director, Thai Rent a Car; Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Mobility & Dona Truong, Regional Rental Manager, Enterprise Mobility
L to R: Komsit Sangmanee, COO, Thai Rent a Car; Theerakup Thammaneewong, Executive Director, Thai Rent a Car; Marco Beltgens, Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Mobility & Dona Truong, Regional Rental Manager, Enterprise Mobility
◦ Would there be exceptions to the chauffeur requirement, such a local Thai driver renting the car? Or a driver from a neighboring country with experience driving in Thailand?
◦ Other unique policies and experiences in renting a car from Enterprise in Asia?
[EM] We recommend that customers obtain an international driver’s license. Chauffeurs are available upon request but are not required. Some customers do want to self-drive in Thailand, and we anticipate that will be the majority of the demand. But of course, that varies market to market. Our goal is to meet the needs of our customers and, depending on their needs, we can provide a car for self-drive or with a chauffeur, for short lengths of time or long-term rental.
[HI] What does the future hold for Enterprise Mobility both globally and in Asia specifically?
APAC is the fastest growing region for our Global Franchising team. We are actively engaged in conversations and interested in speaking with any prospective partners in the region where we can provide mobility services that customers want.
“We want to be the world’s best and most trusted mobility provider. We think about that both locally and globally. We aim to be the market leader in every place we do business.” –Marco Beltgens

Drawing on Asian traditions that date back centuries, Banyan Tree Veya’s wellbeing experiences are formed around the Banyan Group’s ‘8 Pillars of Wellbeing’,
a foundation for a holistic and enriching journey toward overall wellbeing.
Itineraries are customised around each individual from a questionnaire and pre-arrival consultation with a team of experts, including Spa Manager Heriberto Peña, who brings over a decade of experience in the luxury spa and wellness space.

Integrating functional movement and mindful awareness, daily group and private classes include breathwork, singing bowl therapy, apothecary workshops, yoga, meditation and more. The first in Valle de Guadalupe, the property’s traditional Mexican temazcal (house of heat) ritual cleanses the mind and body.
The transformative, culturally-rooted ceremony is guided by a local Temazcalero, who will lead guests through the rituals of deep breathing exercises, meditative chants and drumming to help release tension and renew their energy, before stepping into the temazcal dome with hot stones and medicinal plants that will purify the senses on all levels.
A closing ritual will seal the transformation, enhancing mental clarity and spiritual renewal.
Led by Food and Beverage Manager Fernando Labra Degante, the resort’s seven culinary concepts aim to inspire conscious living, seamlessly weaving healthy ingredients and practices into both traditional and modern Mexican dishes utilising fresh, locally harvested food that supports small farms and is sustainably sourced.

The modern hotel booking landscape to become increasingly fragmented. Potential guests have an array of booking channels at their disposal, making it crucial for Indonesian hotels to strategically position themselves where their target audience is most active.
Achieving this requires a careful balancing act, ensuring that pricing and availability information remains consistent across all platforms.
To effectively navigate the challenges of today's hotel booking landscape, it's important for hotels to adapt and refine their distribution strategies, concentrating on the following key areas:
As the hotel distribution sector continues to advance and new booking platforms emerge, Indonesian hotels must recognise that each booking channel caters to a unique audience – of which hotels must understand for effective targeting.
For example, metasearch engines like Trivago or Kayak may be frequented by travellers who are more price-sensitive, focusing on comparing options.
Meanwhile, social platforms like Instagram and Facebook are likely to attract a younger demographic, drawn to the visual and experiential aspects of travel. Recognising these differences allows hotels to tailor their strategies to each channel's specific audience.
A crucial aspect of distribution management is maintaining consistency in pricing across various channels.
Price disparities can lead to potential issues with OTA agreements along with creating customer distrust and a decrease in direct bookings, which are often more profitable.
Rate parity not only builds trust but also simplifies the decision-making process for customers comparing options across multiple platforms.
From OTAs to Direct Bookings: How Indonesian Hotels Can Optimise Distribution and Boost Revenue
To optimise distribution, hotels must keep a close watch on the performance of each booking channel.
This involves tracking metrics such as conversion rates, average length of stay, rooms sold, ADR, and revenue per available room (RevPAR), as well as cancellation percentage by channel.
Some hotels even track net ADR and net RevPAR to measure profitability by channel, along with sold lead in versus premium room categories to analyse the preference and price sensitivity by channel.
Analysing these metrics enables strategic decisions about where to allocate more resources and efforts.
In the age of big data, analytics is a powerful tool for understanding market trends, customer preferences, and booking patterns.
Deep analysis of data can unveil critical insights, such as peak booking times, popular room types, and customer preferences. These insights are instrumental in tailoring marketing strategies and improving service offerings.
Forming strategic partnerships with OTAs and other platforms is beneficial, but these collaborations must align with the hotel's brand and market positioning. It's a delicate balance between expanding reach and maintaining the hotel's unique identity and values.
In managing this complex distribution environment, a revenue management system (RMS) plays a pivotal role.
An RMS provides the technological backbone needed to analyse vast amounts of data, assist with pricing strategies, and ensure rate parity across channels.
An RMS can forecast future demand, helping hotel management to set accurate prices and manage inventory across different channels effectively.
With increasing costs associated with hotel distribution through channels like OTA's or Google Hotel Ads, it’s essential to carefully evaluate the value of each booking channel.
Hoteliers must now consider the true cost of acquiring reservations through various booking channels and assess the necessary demand to justify these expenses.
While diversifying booking channels is critical for casting a wide net, hotels should also focus on boosting direct bookings through their website to help bypass third-party booking commissions and fees.
The fact remains that a hotel’s own website continues to be the most cost-effective booking channel. So, how can hoteliers maximise direct bookings through their website?
The first step is increasing web traffic from potential guests and attracting more ‘lookers.’ To do this, hotels need to understand more about those lookers.
What dates are they searching for, where do they search and what is driving them to a particular market? Collecting this market intelligence provides data that can be used to develop targeted marketing campaigns that attract the right type of lookers, the ones most likely to become bookers.
Hoteliers can also increase direct bookings by retargeting past visitors and directing them to their website. When researching a location, potential guests may visit a variety of travel websites and OTAs before deciding where to stay.
Hotels need to keep their property on the top of the consumer’s mind and influence guests to book on the hotel’s website.
Technology that offers tailored adverts customised around visitor behaviour or website activity can help hotels achieve an estimated 10 percent return rate on website visits – increasing direct booking opportunities.
Increase bookings and revenue with effective distribution management
Boosting bookings and revenue now hinges on the effectiveness of distribution management for hotels.
This complex but crucial task is made possible through understanding each channel's audience, maintaining rate parity, forming strategic partnerships, utilising advanced RMS technology, and encouraging direct bookings.
By optimising these elements in their distribution strategy, Indonesian hotels can significantly enhance their booking and revenue outcomes.

SiteMinder, the world’s leading hotel distribution and revenue platform, is heralding a new era of revenue management for hotels with the unveiling of ‘Dynamic Revenue Plus’, the only solution for hotels to both access live market intelligence and take immediate action on their bookable inventory, pricing and distribution strategy. Unlike revenue management systems that have traditionally been accessible to a limited number of hotels, the dual capability within Dynamic Revenue Plus means any hotel can, for the first time, use one, mobile-first system to optimise their revenue based on market demand.
Dynamic Revenue Plus is uniquely powered by the data within SiteMinder’s platform, which stems from an unparalleled 120 million annual hotel reservations that give users of Dynamic Revenue Plus the most comprehensive data available, including top source markets. Soon, it will be enhanced with dynamic pricing recommendations from IDeaS, a SAS company and the world’s leading provider of revenue management software and services.
The built-in combination of IDeaS’ dynamic pricing strength and SiteMinder’s distribution platform with deep market intelligence will provide powerful revenue management capability and speed-to-market to hotels of any size, including the most resource-strapped. To date, these have been accessible only as separate solutions and limited to hotels with dedicated revenue management resources.
Using the unified solution, any hotel can now move away from traditional, static revenue management practices, characterised by slow and irregular changes, to a more dynamic approach that involves frequent adjustments to revenue strategies in response to market fluctuations. Examples of changes include bulk room rate updates, new minimum base rates and lengths of stay, sale restrictions, inventory adjustments and new marketing promotions, which can all be done on mobile as well as desktop.
Klaus Kohlmayr, Chief Evangelist and Development Officer at IDeaS, said, “We’re committed to democratising revenue management and bringing the benefits of dynamic, demand-based pricing to hotels across the globe. This partnership provides another viable option for hotels of all resources and operating models to stop leaving money on the table due to outdated manual revenue management practices and tools.”
Dynamic Revenue Plus was conceived in late 2023 to mirror the convergence of distribution, revenue optimisation and market intelligence strategies that SiteMinder saw taking place at hotels globally to drive a commercial mindset across hotel departments.
Available initially to hotels in Australia and New Zealand with all other markets to follow in 2025, Dynamic Revenue Plus is a key pillar of SiteMinder’s Smart Platform strategy – the manifestation of SiteMinder’s mission of making sophisticated revenue management accessible to every hotel in the world.
The launch of Dynamic Revenue Plus comes amid rising international travel and a booming events industry, which are boosting hotel economies around the world. SiteMinder’s data shows that Taylor Swift’s six-day concert in Singapore, for example, triggered a nearly 75% surge in hotel bookings when compared with the previous year, and a 50% year-on-year increase in the average daily rate for hotels in the country.
In response, the solution gives users the most complete event information available in the market, along with insight into future demand surges. This capability will allow hotels to capitalise on changing travel flows, events and other critical revenue opportunities at a speed not available until now.
Leah Rankin, Chief Product Officer at SiteMinder, said, “While market intelligence is not new, Dynamic Revenue Plus by SiteMinder is unique among existing solutions for the capability it offers hoteliers to not only consume insights but to take multiple actions, beyond pricing changes, within minutes. Additionally, its mobile-first approach and unique ability to provide insight into future levels and timings of demand mean hoteliers can adapt with the market. Truly, Dynamic Revenue
Plus is the first of its kind and, together with the team at IDeaS, we at SiteMinder are delighted to make it available for all hotels looking to make the critical shift to dynamic revenue management and drive significant growth in revenue.”
Fready Goenawan, Revenue and Distribution Manager AU at Ovolo Hotels, said, "The notifications we receive through Dynamic Revenue Plus mean we no longer have to search for this information on the Internet; it's provided to us. They will replace the holidays calendar that we manage manually, and save our team a lot of time. Additionally, the insights we're using for our studies on geographical markets are amazing.
They don't exist in other systems. Using SiteMinder's platform, we can see right away which countries are returning to our hotels. We can also break down the data to see performance metrics such as length of stay so we can roll out a new promotion to suit. When you're trying to maximise revenue, you need to know the markets that your income is coming from so you don’t splash your marketing budget everywhere.
Having information by destination market is also wonderful, as it's important to know if we're ahead or behind the pace of the market. SiteMinder's solution is very powerful in this way."

First-of-its-kind collaboration will result in demand forecasting, inventory management, and pricing to drive revenue for the
world’s
most innovative cruise line
Singapore—Sept. 13, 2024—IDeaS Revenue Solutions, the world’s leading provider of advanced revenue management software (RMS) and services, announced that it is expanding its industry-leading suite of revenue management solutions to the cruise industry through a partnership with Virgin Voyages.
Under the partnership, IDeaS is working with Virgin Voyages to develop a first-of-its-kind, innovative RMS solution for the cruise industry.
To fully realise their revenue potential, cruise lines need the ability to efficiently and effectively forecast passenger demand. Historically, this forecasting posed challenges for the industry for a variety of reasons.
But with a clearer understanding of this demand, the door opens to transformative, sophisticated pricing and revenue management strategies.
While cruise organisations have explored numerous approaches to revenue forecasting, a clear, science-based leader in advanced revenue management has yet to emerge – until now.
“We came to IDeaS because we saw the power of science-driven automation and the results delivered to the hotel industry. Today, nothing in our market can compare to the power of IDeaS revenue management expertise.
We couldn’t be more pleased with the project's development thus far and are impressed with the entire organisation's commitment.
As a visionary in the cruise industry, we see the value of sophisticated revenue management so it was only fitting we should partner with the pioneer of RMS technology,” said Jessica Fleisher, vice president revenue, Virgin Voyages.
As a pioneer in the industry, Virgin Voyages and its innovative revenue management team saw the importance of science-driven automation.
They approached IDeaS and outlined a proof of concept, and the two companies are now spearheading the adoption of revenue management in this complex and dynamic industry.
The partnership will see IDeaS deliver forecast modelling to determine more efficiently the right booking curve so cruise lines or commercial teams can more dynamically adapt to trends.
IDeaS revenue science will also streamline cabin pricing, automate processes and allow individual cruise lines to focus on demand-based forecasting and pricing for each cabin type (i.e. inside, balcony, suites, etc.).
By optimising business mix and inventory allocation, the solution helps to maximise revenue potential and future scalability.
“IDeaS is excited to work with Virgin Voyages as we make this proof of concept a reality. This collaboration not only marks our entry into the cruise industry but also demonstrates our commitment to expanding our expertise into new verticals.
By helping them gain key insights into dynamic forecasting and pricing, we believe we will help usher in a new era for the entire cruise industry. We couldn’t be prouder to work with this exciting and forward-thinking team,” said Sanjay Nagalia, co-founder and chief scientist, IDeaS.
The modern enterprise is plagued by the decision of whether to build custom software or buy a commercial off-the-shelf solution.
In fact, it has been common for cruise lines to build their own systems internally. IDeaS now provides a solution that delivers the speed and scalability that a homegrown system can’t.
By working with IDeaS, which has existing revenue optimisation models (custom to each client), cruise lines that need specific functionality can now realise higher ROI and faster time to market.

Scheduled to open in Q4 2024, Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will introduce the brand's contemporary upper-midscale concept to the Parkville suburb of this attractive global city
Radisson Hotel Group has reached another major milestone in its Asia Pacific expansion strategy with the signing of Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton, a contemporary and fully connected hotel that will mark this upper-midscale brand’s debut in Australia. When this newly converted property opens its doors in the fourth quarter of 2024, Park Inn by Radisson will introduce an exciting new era of feel-good, stressfree hospitality to this global city.
Situated in the suburb of Parkville, Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton is surrounded by top tier universities, hospital precincts, recreation centers and leisure attractions, just 3km from Melbourne’s CBD. Following the conversion of an existing hotel, it will undergo a complete renovation and redesign to align with Park Inn by Radisson’s international standards. This demonstrates the brand’s commitment to energizing the hospitality scene in key destinations and driving rapid growth.
Melbourne is the ideal location for Australia’s inaugural Park Inn by Radisson hotel. Consistently named as one of the world’s most livable cities, Victoria’s state capital is a thriving hub of culture, cuisine and commerce. It is also one of the world’s great sporting cities, with iconic annual events such as the Australian Open tennis, Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the AFL Premiership Season Grand Final, the Boxing Day Test cricket match, the Melbourne Cup horse racing festival and more. This makes Melbourne one of Australia’s most popular tourism destinations; the city attracted 10.3 million overnight visitors in 2023, including a large number of Asian visitors.
Within the Parkville suburb, the hotel places guests on the doorstep of Australia’s top biotech and neuroscience R&D facilities, and Monash University, which is known for its Pharmaceutical Studies faculty. It is also situated close to Royal Park and Royal Melbourne Zoo, and opposite Princes Park, the home of Carlton Football Club, the leading AFL team. Melbourne’s CBD can be reached in just 12-15 minutes via the convenient tram network, and the city’s Tullamarine Airport is 20km away.
Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will feature 89 bright and well-equipped rooms, ranging from the 25-square meter Standard rooms to the 34-square meter Deluxe rooms, all of which feature signature “Sleep Well” bedding, contemporary furnishings, and refreshing bathrooms. Guests can work out at the gym, cool off in the pool, or stay connected and productive in two meeting rooms. The vibrant allday dining restaurant and casual grab & go café provide a choice of culinary options, including an energizing breakfast, and every stay will be underpinned by the brand’s “Yes I Can” service philosophy.
A representative of Star Capital Group, parent of Frater Capital Group Pty Ltd, said: “We are delighted to partner with Radisson Hotel Group, one of the world's leading international hotel groups, to debut the Park Inn by Radisson brand in Australasia. The contemporary Park Inn by Radisson, Melbourne Carlton, is the ideal market introduction to this upper-midscale brand. We have plans to continue to expand our hotel portfolio in Australasia and we eagerly anticipate further opportunities for collaboration with Radisson.
Victor Kondarios, Director, Development, Australasia, RHG, added: “We are excited for this opportunity to introduce Park Inn by Radisson to Australia. Melbourne is one of the world’s most iconic cities with attractions for business and leisure travelers. Frater Capital Group is a strong company looking to grow its hotel portfolio. We are delighted to enter into this relationship with them, which includes a full range of support services such as revenue management, sales and marketing. We look forward to developing more hotels together in the future as we continue to expand across Australia.”
Park Inn by Radisson Melbourne Carlton will be the group’s third hotel in Australia, and fifth hotel in Australasia, joining Radisson Hotel on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Sydney, Radisson Blu Denarau Fiji, and Grand Papua a member of Radisson Individuals in Port Moresby. Additional hotels are also under construction in the region. To learn more about Radisson Hotel Group, please visit www.radissonhotels.com.
With an inspiring collection of new hotels and brands across the archipelago, experience-seeking travelers are invited to delve deeper into Indonesia’s abundant destinations and cultures
JAKARTA, INDONESIA, 9 August 2024 – Indonesia always inspires travelers with its breathtaking beauty and captivating culture.
Now, IHG Hotels & Resorts, the world's leading hotel company with more than 6,000 global destinations under 19 brands, is helping to sharpen cultural appreciation, enhance emotional connections and broaden the country’s appeal with a new collection of hotels and brands in authentic destinations that will give all guests – including heritage seekers, nature lovers, active travelers and passionate foodies – even more opportunities to discover the diverse wonders of Indonesia.
Unearthing hidden gems, connecting with local neighborhoods, and discovering authentic stories and activities – these are the immersive experiences that captivate today’s travelers. According to a recent survey from IHG Hotels & Resorts on global traveler trends, more guests are prioritizing the importance of hotels that foster a deep connection with their surroundings.
These findings suggest that hotels play an important role in influencing and inspiring their guests to explore local areas at a much deeper level.
With the introduction of new brands such as IHG's premium voco hotels, and its first collection brand within the luxury and lifestyle portfolio, Vignette Collection, IHG Hotels & Resorts is ushering in a new era of experience-seeking travelers. This includes couples, friends, and families, all drawn to the continued growth of mainstream brands such as Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
Building on Regent's storied legacy in luxury dating back to 1970, IHG leverages its extensive understanding of the modern luxury traveler to redefine opulence with a fresh perspective. Indonesia’s first Vignette Collection property is a luxurious beachfront retreat in the style of a classical colonial-style Indonesian mansion.

Also in the “Island of the Gods”, the 72-room Holiday Inn Express Bali Sunset Road (Q3 2024) will cater for the needs of every guest in a prime location, just 12 minutes' drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport.

SIEM REAP, Cambodia (Aug. 28, 2024) – The acclaimed Khmer fine-dining restaurant 1932 at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor in Siem Reap has unveiled exclusive new tasting menus as it continues to elevate and redefine haute gastronomy in Cambodia.
The hotel’s Khmer tasting menus were launched last year as a way to introduce diners to the distinctive flavours of the Southeast Asian cuisine. The popularity of the dining experience prompted 1932 to update the menus with several exciting new dishes available this month.
Some highlights from the new menu include Bangkorng Takeo made with Takeo freshwater lobster, Khmer thermidor sauce, morning glory and oyster sauce; Num Krouk, a Khmer rice cake with sweet and sour sauce, and lime; and Sach Ko Lok Lak, a Tajima striploin with Kampot pepper, crudite, turmeric and garlic fried rice.
“The dishes on the new Khmer tasting menu at 1932 feature the freshest, locally grown, seasonal ingredients, ensuring an outstanding representation of Cambodian flavours at their very finest,” said Executive Sous Chef Dorn Doeurt, an expert in authentic Royal Khmer cuisine and modern Khmer gastronomy, who designed the menus.
The tasting menus are categorized by decades/periods, including the 1930s (“The Reign of King Sisowath Norodom” priced at $90++), 1950s (“The Grand Renaissance” priced at $60++), 1960s (“The Golden Age” priced at $70++) and 1990s (“The Raffles Grand Legacy” priced at $100++). All are offered with an optional wine pairing and dishes can also be ordered à la carte.
“The new tasting menus at 1932 showcase the exquisite range and remarkable tastes of Khmer cuisine in a fine-dining experience that’s second to none as an introduction to Cambodia’s top culinary offerings,” said Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor General Manager Joseph Colina.
Earlier this year, World’s 50 Best spotlighted 1932 in its Discovery list, saying the restaurant’s cuisine “delights the palate as the chefs navigate decades of Khmer culinary heritage.”
Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor was named one of the world’s “500 Best Hotels” by the industry-leading Travel + Leisure magazine in April for a third straight year. The historic hotel was also honored as one of Cambodia’s finest—with special recognition for its swimming pool and spa—in the Travel + Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific in June.
The 92-year-old luxury hotel is on the doorstep of ancient Khmer archeological sites in Cambodia and is considered a national treasure. Originally opened in 1932, the hotel was built as a rest stop for archeologists and adventurers seeking to explore the ancient kingdom of Angkor Wat, which is today one of the most popular UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Southeast Asian designers interpret the value of design through original works at EMERGE
The third edition of the showcase adds debut talents and recent graduates alongside the region’s seasoned designers
Clockwise from left: Among the works responding to the theme are the handmade Buah Labu Kecil Ceiling Lamp by Budiman Ong (Indonesia), RE-UP Tables by Paphop Wongpanich of Take Home Design (Thailand) made with reuse and recycling in mind, and the Valorem Chair by Phúc Vinh Đo Phong (Vietnam) that is shaped to help improve health and posture of users. Singapore, 26 August 2024 – Southeast Asian design showcase, EMERGE @ FIND, returns to Singapore Design Week 2024 with a provocation on the notion of value. Presented by the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) and supported by FIND – Design Fair Asia, this year’s showcase will feature more than 60 designers, and for the first time recent design graduates, from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam who will unveil their works across 1,000 sqm of space at Marina Bay Sands from 26 to 28 September 2024.
New to the third edition, EMERGE @ FIND is partnering online gallery The Artling to expand commercialisation opportunities, with over 100 works expected to be for sale on the platform, connecting designers with The Artling's extensive network of buyers and collectors. Visitors can browse and purchase the collection on The Artling from 13 September 2024.
Redefining the meaning of ‘Value’
Returning curator of EMERGE @ FIND, Suzy Annetta, frames this year's showcase under the theme "These Precious Things", posing the fundamental challenge: “Do we really need more?”
The curatorial provocation opens up a critical examination of the
concept of value in an era of excess and environmental urgency. “I am honoured to curate the EMERGE showcase again in 2024. This year, we are probing the very essence of value – its definition, arbiters, metrics, and potential evolution. It's an exploration to question the core purpose of design in our contemporary world,” said Annetta. “I'm particularly excited for visitors to experience these thought-provoking works firsthand.”
In response to the curatorial brief, designers’ works span a spectrum from bold concepts to functional innovations, united by a common thread of questioning established value systems.
The distinctive curatorial approach of EMERGE @ FIND will add a unique dimension and enhance the offerings of FIND, a premier trade show and design fair in Southeast Asia that attracts interior designers, architects, developers, hospitality professionals, and design enthusiasts seeking to discover groundbreaking talent and commercially viable design solutions.
Carl Press, Event Director, FIND – Design Fair Asia said, "We are thrilled to host an exceptional array of talented designers presenting at EMERGE as part of FIND this year. We are particularly keen to see how designers interpret the highly-contested notion of value, witness this sociological debate unfold and be presented at the empirical level. The innovation, diversity, and unique artistry on display shows there is so much to look forward to in Asia."

The importance of sustainability and material innovation takes centrestage for Singapore designers Ivan Ho of Tizumuka and Emeline Ong in their debut at EMERGE @ FIND. Ho, marks his first appearance with the Parasitic collection which
transforms waste into objects of desire, offering “a critical social commentary about the need to look beyond superficial appearances.” Ong, who graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design from the National University of Singapore, showcases The Pastille Collection where she gives new life to discarded paper in the form of her brother's old school notes, aiming to "foster a greater appreciation for the lasting value and potential of overlooked and discarded materials."

Revival and reimagining of tradition in contemporary contexts underpins many works this year. Emerging Vietnamese designer Khanh Linh Phan, who graduated in 2023 from the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City, brings a new perspective to the time-honoured crochet technique to create LUCIA, a collection of innovative lighting pieces, while Malaysian designer Mohd Sujak Hasbollah elevates pasak, an ancient woodworking method using wooden nails as a defining feature of his chair named Lokka. Both designers not only preserve traditional artisanal skills, they challenge perceptions of value in modern design, seamlessly blending heritage craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics. Among the returning alumni of EMERGE @
FIND are furniture designer Alvin Tjitrowirjo of alvinT (Indonesia), industrial designer Selena Placino (Philippines), and Apiwat Chitapanya of Masaya (Thailand). The trio reveal the enduring significance of their pieces in the harmonious blending of cultural preservation, sustainability and traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
Through their own interpretation of the value of design, Tjitrowirjo reimagines traditional materials like rattan in modern forms; Placino transforms wood waste into elegant lighting; and Chitapanya presents furniture fashioned from brass, a homage to ancient Thai craftsmanship.
“The value of an object should transcend mere monetary worth; it should encompass the spiritual and emotional connections it fosters,” said Tjitrowirjo who strives to reintegrate the respect for nature into people’s lives.
