BACK TO SCHOOL

For many students, including those who participated in the hallway decoration, the start of a school year is much more than a date on the calendar. It represents a new beginning, a chance to learn, grow, and explore new horizons. For students, it's an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and embark on a journey of knowledge and self-discovery, especially for seniors. For teachers, it is an opportunity to inspire and nurture young minds, laying the groundwork for a year of growth and achievement Prior to the commencement of school students, Perla, Isabella, Gretchen, and Melannye helped bring the Medical Wing at Coral Reef Senior High to life They began their project with the decoration of the HOSA bulletin board, with hopes for a more efficient way to inform the students in the academy of events and opportunities that are occurring After they began cleaning and fixing up the awards that past members had won, allowing them to be displayed. Finally, as a way to bring light and happiness into the hallway, seniors Perla and Isabella created a smiling paper mural that created an atmosphere of excitement and positivity for the new school year.

BLOOD DRIVE

Every year at Coral Reef Senior High, OneBlood Blood Drives are held in order to gain willing donors that will give a small portion of their own blood and offer this gift of life to sustain our healthcare system and ensure that patients facing trauma, surgery, cancer, and other various medical conditions have a fighting chance at recovery.

Throughout the year, the Blood Drive Committee holds four drives in order to help attain as much blood as possible and help save lives. These events foster a sense of community and shared responsibility, reminding us that our actions can have a direct and positive impact on the lives of those around us It teaches our students that even in the midst of busy academic schedules, extracurricular activities, and the whirlwind of teenage life, they can carve out time to give back.

During our first blood drive of the year, all committee members joined forces, advertised, recruited as many donors as they could, and helped them with the goal of donating blood. With everyone’s help, the September Blood Drive collected blood from over eighty different students, meaning that in the context of one donation saving three lives, we helped save over two hundred and forty people! We hope that in our next three drives, we can exponentially grow our numbers and help many other people!

Health Occupations Students of America, better known as HOSA, is a dynamic organization that nurtures and empowers the next generation of healthcare professionals. From its recruitment efforts to its overall mission, HOSA plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare HOSA is more than just a student organization; it's a community, a movement, and a platform for aspiring healthcare leaders to flourish

As we head into the process of registering our members, our HOSA board is coming together and informing everyone, not only those in our medical academy, about our club and what it means to be a part of it As we participated on club day, September 8th, we were able to peak the interest of many students from every academy and engage them all in what HOSA stands for.

Once students become part of the HOSA family, their journey towards becoming healthcare leaders truly begins HOSA offers a vast array of opportunities for personal and professional development. Through conferences, workshops, and different competitive events, members gain a deeper understanding of healthcare and develop essential leadership skills.

HOSA's impact extends beyond individual members; it ripples throughout the healthcare industry By nurturing a generation of compassionate, skilled, and dedicated healthcare professionals, HOSA contributes to a brighter and healthier future for all

As September comes along, we come to recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. This month is a time to raise awareness about pediatric cancer, honor young warriors, and support efforts to find cures for these devastating diseases that affect children. Pediatric cancer is a harsh reality that affects thousands of families worldwide. It's a relentless battle for the young patients and their loved ones. The statistics are sobering, with more than 400,000 children under the age of 19 diagnosed with cancer each year globally.

Raising Awareness

Childhood Cancer Awareness Month is a dedicated time to raise awareness about these diseases and the need for research, funding, and support. Research is at the heart of finding better treatments and ultimately a cure for pediatric cancers. Many institutions and organizations dedicate themselves to funding groundbreaking research projects. Throughout September, communities, organizations, and individuals come together to shine a spotlight on pediatric cancer. They use this platform to educate, advocate, and inspire action. During this month, you can contribute to these efforts by participating in charity runs, walks, or donating directly to organizations committed to pediatric cancer research. They use this platform to educate, advocate, and inspire action.

An important symbol during this month is the gold ribbon, which has become the symbol of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Much like the pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness, the gold ribbon represents hope, resilience, and the strength of the pediatric cancer community From social media campaigns to fundraising events, the gold ribbon serves as a unifying symbol, reminding us to stand with these brave young patients and their families

Unifying

September is a time to come together as a global community and support the children and families battling childhood cancer. It's a month to honor the strength and resilience of young warriors and to advocate for increased research and funding. By wearing gold ribbons, sharing stories, and supporting organizations dedicated to pediatric cancer, we can all play a part in making a difference and bringing hope to those who need it most
